"Lose the artefact, lose the war!"
bosporan19 May 2022
A solid ending to a good season, plenty of action, the main thread closed out and sufficiently open to hook into season two. The whole Kwan plotline has been a distraction and goes nowhere, it would have been much better removed from the final cut.

Taken as a standalone sci fi series, this has been exciting, entertaining and enjoyable throughout. A season two would be most welcome.

Glad I knew nothing about the Halo game.

Warning: Spoilers
This Halo story is new to me so I would not know if it follows the game story at all. I like the show so far , wish that Makee did not die, hope master chief gets his body back.

Great final.

The Master Chief we all know and love
Kenny91820 May 2022
Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed John's backstory, but the Master Chief is here now and ready to kick some Covenant ass.

I felt like this episode hit all the right targets. It looked fantastic and the first person views brought on the nostalgia.

Best episode of the season, by far.

I want more
Kutalpm19 May 2022
Was is it good? Yes.

Can it be better? Also yes (especially the cgi) Do I want to watch more? Also yes.

Are there any other sci-fi shows on this level? No.

Does it need more people and budget? Yes.

It's very well made and congrats to the whole team. Especially the differentiation between John and AI Master Chief was a genius idea.

Completely unrelated; from what I can see: if they wanted to make a good mass effect tv show, they would need a lord of the rings level budget; that would be amazing.

It was powerful finale
chiefspartanfan99719 May 2022
All storylines merged into one. And although there were a couple of moments where the plot moves seemed a little illogical, basically - this is a gorgeous ending.

Full of drama, great Pablo Schreiber and more. Pleased that we got a lot of Silver tea interactions. This was spectacular. Can't wait to continue!

Waiting for the second season with a different scriptwritter
kinodavai19 May 2022
Season wasn't bad. I would give him 8 out of 10 for such a final. But the screenwriter seemed to be writing a non-dramatic sci-fi action movie. But just drama. Viscous, slow. Halo needs more action and a little more budget.

You can see it in the finale. He is very good and emotionally seemed great. Good drama, good final fight. But they need to take it to the next level. Final 10/10 because I'm a fan.

That's the Halo we wanted!
Bahrumix19 May 2022
The final episode of the series was one of the best episodes of this season, and I think it gave hope for a great future for the series. The final battle was very epic and breathtaking. I hope that in the second season, the producers of the series will have better development for characters like Kwan.

This episode is the one masterpiece of the season.
johnnybravoctk16 June 2022
It took them 8 episodes to finally look at the game and figure out why so many LOVE the Halo universe. But they nailed it in episode 9. Man, this season is the most love/hate I've ever had for a tv show. It should have been 6 high quality episodes and not stretched to 9 and include so much boring time with Kwan Ha, that literally moved the story along 0. Overall, I did enjoy myself. It's not exactly what I expected, but maybe that's a good thing after all. I'm just giddy that we even got a Halo tv show at all, and look forward to improvements for Season 2!

A bit of an anti-climax
nfjhhmhn19 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Great final battle scene and I loved the way they did the gravity distortions while approaching the Covenant star system. My main complaints are the same as they've been throughout the season: flat characters, half-descriptions referencing things that never get explained, and self-serving dramatic tropes. That said, I heartily disagree with the people who have complained about the CGI; I think it's been great. They really just need better writers and it could be a great show

  • Major spoilers below -

In the season finale, you'd expect more dramatic story development to match the intense action. Either the Covenant complete the map to set up season 2 as a race to Halo, or the fall of Reach following Makee's reversion to her Covenant loyalties. Instead of a dramatic finale, we get a bit of flash with little substance

I also wasn't a fan of the deus ex machina of the Pelican swooping in after Cortana took over the Chief's body. Couldn't that have happened earlier in the battle and preempted John's sacrifice? All-in-all, there are some great moments sprinkled throughout but they're strung together with mediocre writing in a way that leaves you unsatisfied like a pie with lots of sugary goo and not enough fruit.

I really enjoyed the first season. I havent played the games so i cant say if the show stays true to the games, but its a very good series and it doesnt deserve the hate it gets. U should just watch the show and ignore the negative opinions.

Season One Review
southdavid4 January 2023
A few weeks ago, I wrote a review of Netflix's "Resident Evil" show saying that it fails on two fronts, both as an adaptation of the source material and just as a show in its own right. "Halo" is a much better show than that one, but again I'm not convinced its deviations from the source material, particularly straight out of the gate, are to its benefit.

A battle between Earth forces and an Alien Covenant on the planet Madrigal unearths a mystery object. This artefact is linked to a second larger one, which together will reveal the position the Halo, a mythical structure and potential weapon that both the Humans and the Covenant want in their possession. Leading the battle for the UNSC forces is The Master Chief (Pablo Schreiber) a soldier separated from his family and trained since childhood to lead the SPARTAN team, his contact with the first artifact though, reveals suppressed memories about his early life.

I should say that my experience with "Halo" is only playing through the first two games, I haven't yet got around to playing any of the subsequent titles in the series. I say this, because there are definite elements of this story that deviate from the plots of those games. There's no Arbiter character, for example, though some of that plot line might end up being done via Makee, a human character who lives with the Covenant and has a religious role, based on her connection to the Artefact. There's not connection to the Flood yet. The Master Chief takes off his mask, which I understand as a performance choice, but felt to me, like lacking in faith in the character. There's also a large secondary story that I didn't detail in the plot synopsis above, involving Kwan Ha, played by Yerin Ha, a Madrigal native who sees the Earth Forces take the artefact, but who the Master Chief connects with a former Spartan, and who returns to Madrigal to try and instigate a rebellion against the forces that rose up in the aftermath. This was, for me, not an aspect of the story I cared about and took time away from the Spartans, the UNSC and the Covenant storylines, that I was more interested in.

Away from thinking of it as an adaptation, I think, If I knew nothing at all about "Halo" going in, I'd come away having thought that the series was decent enough, though perhaps nothing special. The visual effects are good, the story isn't particularly original, but it makes sense and there are tensions being built.

I'll watch the second season, when that comes out - but I don't love this like I hoped I might.

BS even in the first 10 min

Warning: Spoilers
So you want to tell me, that Reach headquarters has absolutly no air defence, no space defence? A single rogue person can steal a highly secured (or it should be) alien vessel and leave the planet without any problems?

Master Chief's Journey Begins!
darsmatias19 May 2022
The season is bit lackluster but still worth watching. I hope they will do better in season 2 and introduce a dynamic character that Halo fans can appreciate. We also hope that they will use some of the original soundtrack in first Halo that is very engaging and puts everyone on the edge of their seat. Overall this was such a fun first season.

IT HAS TO BE THIS WAY
legolelose20 May 2022
A lot of people complaining abt how this not game accurate . You have to understand that a game accurate Halo will be boring.

GAME: Master chief never takes his helmet off SHOW: Yes, because in the game he's always on the battlefield .As I said , a TV show with just the repetitive action shooting will be boring . You will see other parts of chief's life and he can't be roaming around in an armor all the time.

GAME: Chief is shown to be invincible SHOW: A dramatic TV show will have to have the protagonist struggle and experience pain and that's part of character development. Invincible in a show will become boring.

GAME: Show doesn't match story elements of the game . Kwan of Madrigal is irrelevant SHOW: Yes , that's understandable. But the games do not contain any other aspects of Master chief's life except for the Battlefield part so you will see some new stuff which ,yes could have been done better maybe. And maybe I'm being overly optimistic but I really hope Kwan side story reasonably converges with the main one.

LASTLY ,the only problem I have is that this doesn't have the original Halo music .No matter how many seasons there will be but this will remain incomplete without the original MUSIC.

Nobody expected this ending
wholeamov9719 May 2022
No spoilers. This ending was really filled with action and dramatic moments.

Of course, in places, graphically, it looked more like a game than a movie. But otherwise, it was clear that they were saving a lot of money for the final.

A lot of things happen, mostly interesting. And the ending is generally sad. It's hard to say how fans will take this twist, but it'll be interesting to see what's in store for Season 2.

Peace
masoudhaghi19 May 2022
Halo games series is full of easter eggs and they started taking that into this series as well. In the ending of the S01E09 as Dr. Halsey is writing and narrating something, she is wearing a long jacket and a word is written on the back. The word in Arabic means "Reconciliation" and "Peace" in Persian.

It was a very cleaver way to embed a message like that in the ending of an episod where the Master Chief becomes Master Chief truely. Hoping with the recent events, we won't see more of Chief without his helmet.

Beautiful and sad
mithikshamed20 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is what the whole season should have been like! Get new screenwriters and find a way to make the season shorter if it's a budget issue. Kwans storyline was a waste of money.

Excited to see the fall of reach next season and hopefully more of the actual halo and the flood if we're lucky.

The ending is bittersweet because as fans this is what we wanted chief to be heroic but also stoic and less human... and now that we've gotten it by the end it feels almost sad.

Let's see how they take it from here.

Better... still not incredible.
Silja_Europa20 May 2022
Great action, sub-par CGI and writing can be a bit weird at times.

Always good to see Master Chief doing Master Chief things. It's a little coincidental how when Halo is being Halo, it's a higher rated episode, right? He actually wears his armour for more than 2 minutes in this episode! Wow!

Trying to avoid spoilers, but at the end Master Chief acts more like Master Chief than he has ever been in the show. Stop with the mopey arse who keeps taking his helmet off to show how mopey he is, and make him the solid dependable dude he is that doesn't break rules because he feels like it but for the sake of humanity.

Where. Was. This. Chief. Earlier.

sawbonesprod19 May 2022
Besides the *snooze Kwan Ha side story this show is everything I could have ever asked for in a Halo Live Action Series

AMAZING action, thought-provoking and emotionally resonant story telling, and plenty of narrative juice to keep us plowing full-steam ahead for season 2!

Please paramount keep this train ROLLINGGG!!!

Horrible writing, good battle and cgi (bad animations)
thegamer-0064219 May 2022
What to say, the writers are amongst the worst I've seen with several characters going against what they said last episode, acting like a small child or extremely dumb. Battle was nice though at the end but the stuff before made 0 sense and was just forced in by first time writers.

Had all 3 prohets right in front of silver team and didn't even take a shot. 117 intentionally gets wrecked to sudo die and Cortina takes over his body? I have no idea how this script ever got green lit. This show was terrible. It deserves all the vitriol its recieved.

Redemption
noschutt19 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Hello, Master Chief. Awesome episode, the best one of Season 1. This episode redeemed the entire season. It finally felt like Halo. I loved the action scenes. In the season finale when the Spartans were battling the Covenant on that planet, was that brute with the gravity hammer that John stabbed in the eye our first glimpse of Atriox? Is that how he lost an eye?

Finally, they found out what Halo is.
jellymcalpha19 May 2022
This season finale was what we wanted all season along. An excellent TV-adaptation of the game series. They cut off the dead meat, finally, and really hit the nail on the head with this final episode of the season.

Really excited for what season 2 brings and I'm really hopeful they can keep up the momentum from this episode. Just still don't get what they were thinking with the prior episodes, had they all been like this one this could have been an excellent series overall, but having to chog through 8 terrible episodes to get to this one is not a good impression, even for hardcore Halo fans.
