The nominations were announced on November 24 and took many of us by surprise with their shocking inclusions and egregious snubs. But now that we know who’s in the running, it should be easy to figure out who will come out on top, right? Not necessarily. For instance, Beyonce is the leading artist with nine bids, but she has somewhat underperformed in recent years, nominated 17 times in just the last five years but only winning four of those. And she hasn...

Taylor Swift has been making Grammy history for years. She was the youngest Album of the Year winner at age 20 when she prevailed for “Fearless” in 2010 (Billie Eilish broke that record earlier this year). Then she became the first woman to win Album of the Year twice as a lead artist when she prevailed again for “1989” in 2016. Now, with her latest album “Folklore” getting the best reviews of her career and topping the charts for months, she has the potential for another record: the most Album of the Year wins ever for an artist.
That record is currently shared by three men. Frank Sinatra won for “Come Dance with Me!” (1960), “September of My Years” (1966) and “A Man and His Music” (1967). Stevie Wonder prevailed for “Innervision” (1974), “Fulfillingness’ First Finale” (1975) and “Songs in the Key of Life” (1977). And Paul Simon joined the three-timers club with “Bridge Over Troubled Water” (1971 as part of...

Raven, whose real name was Elsa Rabinowitz, was born September 21, 1929, in Charleston, Sc, the fourth child of Louis and Rosalie Rabinowitz. She started her acting career on stage in New York City, where she also assisted Joseph Papp in bringing the Free Shakespeare Festival to Central Park.
Her career included many character actress roles. Beyond Back to the Future, she also played the realtor who sold the house in The Amityville Horror, John Malkovich’s landlady in In the Line of Fire, Gertrude Stein in The Moderns and the mother who lost her son in Fearless.

This is a new era for Taylor Swift and Swifties everywhere. On Nov. 1, the Grammy winner's loyal legion of fans took to Twitter to show their excitement over a major milestone in her music battle. Starting this month, the superstar singer can go back into the studio to re-record her first five studio albums, including Taylor Swift (2006), Fearless (2009), Speak Now (2010), Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and reputation (2017)—starting this month. Fans may recall, Taylor first spoke openly about her battle with Scott Borchetta, of her former record label Big Machine, as well as music exec Scooter Braun, back in a July 2019 Tumblr post. In the detailed message, the "Exile"...

SEEFirst-ever Gold Derby Music Awards: Vote for the 2021 Gdma nominations now!
First off, it must be said that having the most nominations doesn’t necessarily mean you’re the front-runner to win top prizes. Last year Lizzo had the most bids but it was Billie Eilish who swept the general field. And the year before Kendrick Lamar topped the nominations tally thanks to the “Black Panther” soundtrack, but he only won once at that event.
In fact, R&b and rap acts have received the most nominations in most years lately, thanks in no small part to how common collaborations are in hip-hop, often giving artists multiple chances at nominations per category.

What Taylor Swift and documentary filmmaker Lana Wilson are alike in that neither woman is a stranger to awards love in their respective fields. Swift, as we all know, is a Grammy juggernaut and one of the rare artists to have multiple Album of the Year trophies to her name (for “Fearless” and “1989”), and Wilson earned major nominations for her debut documentary “After Tiller” in 2013 and her follow up “The Departure” in 2017. The Independent Spirit, Cinema Eye Honors, and International Documentary Association nominee returned this year with the Netflix documentary “Miss Americana,” a film that follows Swift as she tours in the “Reputation” era and begins to write and record songs for her subsequent album “Lover.”

You may not have noticed it, what with so much content coming out on Netflix each week, but the company has been ramping up big time on original animation over the past two years. From last year’s Oscar nominee “I Lost My Body” to internal productions “The Willoughbys” and “Klaus,” Netflix’s cartoon offerings have already reached a point to rival Pixar and DreamWorks. By the year 2023, streamer estimates that they will produce more feature-length animated titles than all the Hollywood studios combined.
Timed to China’s Mid-Autumn Festival, Oct. 23 release “Over the Moon” marks a turning point in that push for world domination: It’s not just another tiny toon entry on Netflix’s slate (à la such low-cost pickups as “Fe@rLess” and “Latte & the Magic Waterstone”), but a major, Disney-level production overseen by a major, Disney-level talent, Glen Keane — the gifted artist responsible for bringing to life such characters as Ariel,...

Ten years ago, Taylor Swift entered the Grammy record books when she won Album of the Year at the young age of 20. She prevailed for “Fearless,” her second career album after her 2006 self-titled debut album. Swift’s record as the youngest to claim the category lasted only 10 years, as it was just crushed earlier this year by 18-year-old Billie Eilish. “I just hope you know how much this means to me,” the squeaky-voiced Swift said when accepting her trophy at the end of the 2010 ceremony. Watch the Grammy flashback video above.
