Much better than the previous cgi Care Bears shows
trolliyama10 July 2021
This was a cute show. It could have been as big as Friendship Is Magic (The villains are kinda meh, though), but Boomerang basically let it die in oblivion, giving it zero publicity.

Such a shame, because this was a huge improvement over the previous two Carebears shows, a franchise which honestly doesnt work with cgi animation.

Just wait until the inevitable (and unnecesary) live-action film by Hollyweird, which probably will feature a lot of awful toilet humor, creepy cgi, and carebears twerking, with some awful hack actors as the leads.

My kids love this show almost as much as I do!

I watched the 80's shows and movies and had several of the toys, and so I'm obviously biased as far as liking the franchise, and I'm really happy to have a modern version of the show that my kids like as well.

The setting and characters are all quite consistent with the originals, but it is a new storyline: Instead of the Care Bears coming to Earth to rescue human children, the Care Bears explore a new territory in their own world called "the Silver Lining". They find all kinds of new non-Care-Bear creatures to save by helping them with their feelings and interpersonal relationships, very much like they did with human children in the originals.

It's true that there are no Care Bear Cousins. And the cast is generally much smaller than had been built up by the end of the 80's shows. It's more similar to the original start of the series when there were only a few bears that the show focused on. (I think there were 10 original bears in the 80's series, and this new show focuses on just 5 of them.) The other bears still exist, and pop up from time to time, but they mostly stay in Care-A-Lot while this team of 5 bears explores the new territories.

The villains are no where near as evil as the villains in the old shows. This show keeps the evil at the level of bullying, rather than kidnapping and attempted murder that we saw from some of the 80's villains. You can decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but in my opinion the new show is much more age-appropriate for small children. It does still give some opportunities for redemption of some of the villains, which was a theme that existed for some of the 80's villains, but these new villains are a little easier to root for when they start flirting with turning good.

The Care Bears themselves have some deeper character development as well, particularly Cheer Bear---who deals with some self-esteem issues while learning to lead the small team---and Grumpy Bear---who is still grumpy but also caring, unlike some of the older shows that portrayed him in a mean light, this new show does a nice job of letting him accept his unhappy feelings without vilifying him for them.

Also like the original 80's show, they do a great job of spanning gender lines. My sons love this show and don't think of it at all like a girl's show, just like it never occurred to me or my brother back in the 80's.

All in all, I think it's a beautiful show, and I really hope they keep making more of it. Give it a shot.

Overhyped

I am sorry for the rude title. The original is amazing. But the newer one reminds me of the old she-ra show from the eighties. To generic! Bring back the original design of the show.

Fun new spin!
holm-804205 July 2020
I saw there were some people complaining about how this series deviates from the original cartoon, but that's something that makes the essence of this show. The animations are very bright, crisp, and pretty refreshing for a Care Bears show, since the old ones are definitely beginning to look very dated. I found the voice acting also fresh, fun, and new, with some very modern spins. I really liked the introduction of the new characters (especially Dibble, I love that little guy!) And the new spins on the old. Definitely give this show a try, especially with your kids, and you may find yourself enjoying it as well!

The WORST generation of Care Bears
gillyrose-7328129 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was so excited to see what the new generation of Care Bears will hold. Then the show came out and everything I loved was brutally demolished. Grumpy is CONSTANTLY happy, Cheer is ALWAYS upset or angry, Good Luck abuses his powers to get what he wants, Funshine is a total *sshole, Share does Love-A-Lot's job, and Bedtime is energetic and ALWAYS awake. This show deserves less than a 0.000000001/10.

My girlfriend got me into this series with her and can't wait for more episodes! I have an open mind for stuff like this especially being a former Brony. Glad I got to experience this with her!

Cartoonito's Most Definitive Show.
tommypezmaster1 November 2021
W/ 2 exceptions (being the worst show), most of Cartoonito's programming is ok at best. But this show show (along w/ Love Monster) succeeded in expectations. Not only that, but it make for the best Care Bears series of all time. Plus the writing here are something Sidekick, Scaredy Squirrel and Cloudy the Series NEED to be.

The music is fantastic
whitneycrosser5 January 2022
This show is great-- I love the style, colors, animation and overall feel of the show. It is definitely feel-good and fun. The music is freaking amazing-- a modern take on some 80's synthetic, and it's so catchy.
