The movie starts with typical sports template & first half is fast paced as well as quite hilarious.

Bachchan is just pitch perfect & Kids have done a fab job. Cinematography, BGM & Production values are great.

Manjule's direction is quite good. He wants to touch many points & this doesn't give opportunity to soak into the moment hence emotional scenes lack the impact.

Nagraj Manjule asks you to watch his film,We pay for the ticket and watch the film,then he slaps you in the face. From his debut film fandry followed by Sairat now zhund every film of his deals with some kind of social issues in very unconventional way and it creates lasting effect.

In this film the hero is kids who have nothing to lose yet everything to lose and how they struggle to achieve a good life and how it the society keeps failing them.

The camerawork by Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti is a sight to behold The music by Ajay Atul is Great. Amitji did a great job but Nagraj dosent let his off screen persona trouble the film. As i said it before The leading man may be Amitabh Bachchan but the hero is someone else.

In the last shot of film a wall is inbetween airport and slum as flight takes off over it. This one separates the Mumbai airport from another slum area. On the wall there is a warning that sums up the film "Crossing the wall is strictly prohibited"

First, I just recently started to see movies from India (this is my 3rd) but what I do like about the ones I have seen are the strong, emotional performances by the actors to tell their stories, and there are a lot of stories in this one. Not knowing the culture, I don't know if there is any over-acting or excessive drama that you see in many American movies; regardless, this is very much worth seeing. I am a bit shock by the really bad reviews by some people that want to only judge. It's just a movie and an entertaining one at that. It's not propaganda. Forget judging and just enjoy the film.

The movie is masterpiece in all sense The slum actors are no lesser than the actual trained actors Each character is beautifully presented The music of the movie is apt I'm addicted to all the songs Amitabh bacchan sir is rock solid as always Nagraj manjule sir did the magic what he always do Ajay-atul sir matlab kya bole iss jodi k bare me Matlab ji culture RD Burman aur Kishore kumar ne banaya tha early to say but ajay atul is creating historical music Im happy that Bollywood is learning and making such a realistic movies and believing in such out of the box ideas And all haters who hate slums,poor and backwards they definitely gonna be spitting venom here So just ignore them and go and watch the movie this movie is lifetime experience Loved it.

I saw this movie and I can proudly say this is a class apart movie which showcases reality and poverty in India. AB has acted amazing and others have also justified their respective role. This movie is about hidden potential in by lanes of our country. It's a must watch movie by one and all.

After watching the trailer I thought it is a same CHAKDE INDIA dose again but this movie proved me wrong. It is not just about the football, it is about the struggle. 1st half was ammeazing but 2nd half was bit lengthy.

Movies length is around 3 hour, which could be the minus point. Still overall you can watch it with your family in theatre.

I wish I could describe in words what a fantastic film Jhund is!! If you are thinking whether or not to go for it, watch it right now. It is totally a big screen experience. The direction, music, cast, performances are all top notch. Nagraj Manjule is an absolute legend! Now, it is up to the audience to make this a huge hit!! It totally deserves nationwide attention.

"Jhund" is practically what Wes Fesler said about diamonds and their ability to shine. Coach Vijay Barse (Amitabh Bachchan) finds a bunch of delinquent young people from a slum in Nagpur and decides to channelize their energy and skills into the soccer field. It's not an easy task as these hardened young boys and girls have been riding on paths strewn with crime, vendetta, and making a living is their only objective. Vijay realises this fact pretty early and finds a mechanism to achieve his objective - pay them to practise playing football daily. What starts off as easy money for the slum dwellers soon turns into an emotional journey for them as they appreciate Vijay's efforts to bring them dignity, recognition, and giving them a reason to live for.

As if reverting the delinquents to normal life was tough enough, Vijay finds red tapes a greater stumbling block in the bureaucracy when he next wants to showcase that talent is like diamonds, hidden in the darkest core of the earth. His aspirations are met with difficulties everywhere, but he doesn't give up until he succeeds in creating a National Slum Football Team that's fit to participate with its peers in the international arena. "Jhund" is about how rough diamonds are sometimes mistaken to be worthless pebbles, and I quote Thomas Browne here, Vijay Barse's team of the underprivileged, economically backwards players is referred to as the "herd" by the civil society. But, with resolve, earnest efforts, and a dogged determination, the coach and his proteges will rise like a phoenix from the ashes and prove their detractors wrong.

Written by Nagraj Manjule, "Jhund" is a combination of a social drama with soccer as the vertebral column that supports it. It's fresh, content rich, and objective oriented. The use of sport gives it a competitive flavour and, therefore, it has an edge over similar dramas like "ABCD", "Banjo" and the likes that have used music and fine arts as the vehicle. However, the film is excruciatingly slow and repetitive, giving the progress of the story the pace of a sloth. The lack of other well-known commercial artists has both its pros and cons, thus depending heavily on Amitabh Bachchan for all the histrionic firepower as the rest of the cast is at best, sub-amateurish. The music by Anshuman Trivedi is average. The problem with recent Bachchan starring movies is the filmmakers' reservation of a slot for him to deliver a powerful soliloquy about socially relevant issues (go back and watch "Chehre", "Pink"), which turns preachy while stating the obvious. This approach is unnecessary, in my opinion, and it appears as if it's a bolster or prop to the directors' lack of confidence about the films' ability to convey its message through its content.

The movie is amazing & the story is inspiring. Real life stories like these needs to be made into films often, so that more & more youth gets motivated to change their lives in a positive direction. Nagraj P Manjule, has yet again delivered a phenomenal splendid job with this movie 'Jhund'. This is the reality of the 80% of india's population. They are in majority but suppressed and intentionally ignored by the actual minor in population which is the rest upper class.

This is the factual drama brought on screen with the help of a real story. And it is not just a documentary style film, it has meaning in each and every scene! All the scenes in the movie are very impact full, rampant and those hit hard on you!

Especially the ending scenes like when the guy has some burden of crimes, and unlawful conscience, but he was baptized on screen when he finally comes out clean from the metal detecting machine door leaving the illegal stuff behind. That scene brings tears. Such an emotional, meaningful hard hitting scene. Similarly the wall of disparity and the real huge wall in the area which they cannot cross being minorities and from slum, but in the end, with their capabilities and talent they not just crossed the wall but they Flew over it! That scene again bring Goosebumps!

Kudos to the director for such a masterpiece. And this must not be a subject to resent especially from only the upper class, just because the minorities are being highlighted and Dr. Ambedkar and Ambedkarites have been displayed with enormity. And they rate it intentionally low. That is shallow heartedness.

Story is simple with showing excellent way by director nagaraj munjale sir.

Amithab Bachchan Sir Gave such a realistic performance, especially the court scene - which he gave a fantastic one.

Rest are the character artists are new but they have talented and each of the characters showed in realistic manner and the characters are interesting.

First Half faves too intensity Football match scene was so good

Second half, may get little bit of slow.

Still, It makes an interesting watch

I love the choreography, love the way director filmed all the cast, screen time is perfect for each cast, special thing about movie is message that we all ignore in our country, another side of India which No-one even bothered to look at .

I don't know why this movie rated so low, because of actors are cast in movie is from non filmy background isn't it?

I really loved the way they portrait every single frame and every single line in it.

Nagraj has created a new genre of cinema - Docutainment. Entertainment and Documentary seamlessly mixed with many awe-inspiring sequence and blasting background beats. This could be an Oscar entry from India for 2022.

Nagraj Manjule's first Hindi outing is not just a sport film with terrific moments but also tackles real issues that hit you hard, amitji is spectacular.

The one complaint if i can say is the runtime its nearly three hors same as sairat but sairat never felt as three hour film but this dose .

Make no mistake,Jhund is absolutely brilliant and there's no two ways about it!

Simply exceptional, outstanding and Masterpiece ..no words left to praise this flick... Nagraj Manjule is one the best director of Marathi industry who directed a real content social drama in very simple way that proved his worth to Indian Cinema

Bollywood should learn from regional industry as there are many such directors in the India. One tight slap to those bollywood directors gang or camp.

Amitabh Bacchan is great of ll times but Nagraj Manjule showed all actors at same level in the film as script demands. This is a Must WATCH film.

Also i am surprised to see negative review about the film. Not sure if they really saw it or just want to dAmage the good content cinema. There should be some reason big actors or good director praising this flick. Something to learn for those big budget movie directors on how to make A film in limited budget with good script or content.

To me, this film felt as two different films before and after interval.

Before interval, Vijay Sir is a catalyst to change the kids. In the second half, it is only about Vijay Sir. Had it been about the kids and the promise it made in the pre-interval scene, this film would have been an all-time classics.

Brilliant acting by all the kids. More kudos to them and the director considering that they are non-actors.

Had high hopes from Nagraj Manjule considering his previous 3 films. In Jhund, the first half looks his but second half looks like some other director's.

The movie has good content but has been presented in unpolished way

A lot could had been done here as the makers had good plot and mr Bachchan with them..The makers should had focused a little more on the game rather than fights ,passport issues,family dramas etc..hard hitting dialogues, strong emotional scenes ,songs were missing..the had mr Bachchan in lead but they could not take out the best from him..unrealistic love story was not required.

The movie has good sole and should be seen.

Nagraj Manjule clearly showing the two sides of society. The wall between them is to be crossed and film portrayed aligned to football. Most importantly it speaks about struggle of slum children's, acceptance of society. Film starts with visualising 'gutter' - naali ends with aeroplane and spirit.

All the actors are seems real. Amitabh Bacchan made Jhun Journey peaceful to eyes. Comedy Scenesare much better during a first football match.

Supporting character Babu has great timing at speech.

This movie is an interesting biopic on Vijay Barse who takes it upon himself to involve slum boys and girls in football to wean them away from anti social activities like theft and violence. (There was a movie sometime back where Sanjay Dutt goes to Afghanistan and encourages young boys to play cricket to prevent them from joining terrorist related activities.) Amitabh Bachchan plays the protagonist as only he can, in his trademark style, getting the slum kids together, training them in football, encouraging and counselling them. The way he gets them addicted to the game even by paying them is well shown (There is also a bonus for his fans by way of a baritone speech delivered to the judge on encouraging slum kids to join mainstream society including sports.). Understandably Amitabh faces hurdles and objection from all quarters specially from the school when he allows the dirty, unkempt, badly behaved slum kids to scramble over the wall and jump into the school premises. Amitabh somehow pacifies the school authorities and continues training the slum kids to make first a national slum soccer team, then an international team.

The movie's length of 2hrs 56 mins is a negative point mainly because there is too much of unnecessary detailed filming of some scenes. ( The old method of "dissolve" and new method of" jump cut " are always available). Scenes of sob stories could have been reduced. The attention span of modern Indian audiences has now been reduced to 100 minutes and anything more than that makes it a drag unless it has a huge canvas. Nevertheless director Nagaraj Manjule has done a fairly good job and has managed to make the scenes engaging. He has made an effective use of the camera and there are some splendid shots. ( He has also done a cameo as " Hitler bhai"). Amitabh is good as usual. Among the slum kids Ankush Gedam has a well written role and is impressive. The supporting cast is also impressive. Music by Ajay Atul helps to build the atmosphere and tempo. The is a number like "zingat" too.

Concept-wise, it was a good one for sure but the execution of it was flawed in that it just doesn't excite you in any part of the film and watching gully all over the film isn't exciting for anyone not even for those who live there.

This film looks nothing more than the sequel of Pa. Ranjith's films, yet not so annoyingly disturbing.

There is no detailing for any characters designed not even Amitabh's, at least there wasn't any depth, probably that's the biggest flaw of this film.

This is a true based story of slum soccer, slum area children get training from the trained teacher and prove themselves as the best players. This simple story is shown with ground realities by the director. Nagaraj's previous movies in Marathi have also shown the unnoticed society and their struggle for living. He has changed the language of cinema in India, previously such characters and scenes were rarely available in the bollywood movies. Jhund is totally different than masala movies ,it may not get box office success but it will definitely teach a lesson of equality which was taught by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
