Slightly Confused
foblurver23 May 2019
Don't get me wrong, this episode was executed in a thought provoking way but at the same time it didn't flow with the rest of the show. It kinda makes you think that it was by accident that it made it in the series. Yeah I agree with the toughness of the characters because the show hasn't focused on the black community in Chicago yet, but it would've been nice if the episode was about a different situation because I'm confused on how it goes with the show.

Made up languages in movies
blackintel16 June 2019
When I watch Sci-Fi movies I enjoy the writers making up languages. Clingon, Dorathiki, any other made up language in Star Wars or Star Trek, everyone can enjoy. I must admit, street slang is always funny to hear, but its no different than any other localized form of speaking.

Anyone who is harping on not understanding what the characters are saying, please take a look inside yourself and wonder why you are so hesitant in either trying to, or making the effort to. SOME people relate and make more of an effort to relate to space aliens than they do to actual humans who they see everyday.

Very hard to follow

From beginning to end, I couldn't understand what any of the actors were saying. Feels completely different from the rest of the show, which has consistently had a congruent feel.

Great episode for the OTHER SIDE of Chicago
baharris-9338822 May 2019
This episode was both great to watch and greatly appreciated. Chicago is a diverse but segregated city and Easy typically focuses on a very small segment of the population. As a Black resident of Chicago it was refreshing to see a story about us, and not only about us but one that felt authentic to everyday life without relying on pain and tragedy as the only means to be authentic. This is the only representation of actual Black Chicago language I've seen on a major platform (including The Chi), which admittedly may be harder to follow if you uh... don't talk to any Black people. Related to that, really appreciated that the actors were clearly from here too Honestly the only reason some people don't like this episode is because they live on the northside/suburbs and wanted to continue to pretend they're the only residents of Chicago.

Its about a black guy

The bad reviews are hilarious. These people would not like The Wire. Chicago is a character in the show and this shows a part of Chicago many of us have never experienced from this view point. The actor that played Scrap was great! Look forward to seeing him more in the future.

Felt very real as a black Chicago native
hadiya-robinson26 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I see some reviews being very harsh about this episode. But this a a very real depiction of a day in the life of a young black man just tryna make money in a notoriously segregated city. None of the episodes in this show have a point. It's just telling a story of people's lives in a realistic way. I found myself rooting for scrap but while I was watching I was hoping nothing tragic would happen to him as I'm used to seeing when stories revolve around black people of poor means in an big city. The harassment from the cops irritated me but it was also something very real, that i see often living on the south side of Chicago. And while Scrap wasn't smart with his money that setback is also relatable if you are familiar with the desperation that comes with wanting financial freedom as a young person from the hood. At the end of the episode I was left smiling and a little hopeful that this man could make money and live a decent life, where he wouldn't have to turn to crime.

Episode is Congruent With the Show
daniell-ozobia27 May 2019
It seems that some people are upset about this episode. I just wanted to chime in and say that I do think this episode fits in with the rest of the series. It's based in the same city, and is about interpersonal relationships. The characters portrayed in this episode can interact with other characters in the show at some point down the line. It's connected

Also regarding following what's going on, I am British and can understand what is being communicated well enough. I don't think it's necessary to get every bit of slang. The story line seems reasonably straight forward to me as well.

An especially powerful episode in an Emmy worthy series
elicottle28 June 2019
Many of us use television as an easy escape from the discomfort of reality. Writer& Director, Joe Swanberg holds our feet to the fire of reality, forcing us to examine our own lives, conscious thoughts and actions. I started the episode mocking the lead character Kali Skrap & by the end of episode, I struggled to disassociate myself from him.

This is a great episode
mahyo-3152022 May 2019
I am of the opinion that this is so poorly rated because SOME (obviously Caucasian) people find it hard to relate to. Just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean its bad.

Only a genius observer can write scripts like this one
t-k-stanczak15 October 2020
You watch Easy and you may relate to some of the stories, but whoa, to be able to write all of them with so much authenticity and be able to find actors who will be able to fit so well, that is a skill. A masterpiece.
