Do we really value each other?

(at the risk of sounding a little like Jonah...) This episode did a great job of highlighting how women are still not adequately recognised for their intrinsic life giving roll in society. It juxtaposed in stark relief the plight of those less well off who cannot afford vital care for what should be a precious and safe journey for their child from the womb to the world.

Warning: Spoilers
Amy is in a nervous mood after giving booth because she's hardly any sleep, and it ain't pretty when she screamed at Glenn sadly. Anyway, the trials and tribulations Ben and Glenn faced in recruiting new hires was quite hilarious. I was kind of hoping there would be A-list stars making cameos as the prospective hires, and it would have been a treat to have the cast from Magnum, Barry or Law and Order make cameos.

I'm enjoying catching up on Superstore, along with the early seasons of Father Brown, Magnum, P. I. (the original one), Law and Order, and also catching up on Barry, so it's quite eclectic.

Too depressing
ExtrovertedIntrovert23 April 2021
A strength of this show is when it highlights the struggles the working class often face. This episode sort of took it to another level though, with Amy having to work 2 days after giving birth. I actually couldn't finish the episode, as the way the other characters were more interested in trivial things/hardly seemed to acknowledge the horrific situation she was forced into made it really depressing. Cheyenne's pregnancy was handled way better; Glenn actually cared. This time he seems to just be so indifferent. It genuinely feels like she's in a nightmare, the way everyone's just going about their own thing.

The fact it has made me so angry at the American system is probably a sign that the episode did its job, but it was too depressing to finish. It's definitely not a good idea to watch it straight after the previous episode which was unbelievable enough (as if INSURANCE dictates whether or not you can go to a hospital to give birth.)

To any Americans reading this; I'm genuinely so sorry any of this is even a possibility. It's absolutely barbaric.

Showcase of how embarrassing the US healthcare is
larssmidt11 March 2021
There are so many references to how poor the US healthcare system is and how little the US cares for people by not allowing them to be treated with respect when giving birth. This episode makes me never want to visit this country ever again and makes it look worse than any 3rd or 4th world country in regard to respect for you fellow human, and especially degrading to women. Rarely have I watched the depiction of sadder system than that of the US.

Ugh...

Second attempt at watching this show & episodes like this is the reason why I struggled to engage with this in the first place. The indictment of the US's health care system is one thing, but Mateo & Cheyenne quibbling over Amy's choice for her child's name sent me. The cattiness is of these two is unbearable at times.

The one thing I found amusing & salvageable about this episode was Eden Sher's appearance, doing her best to come across as annoying as a seasonal hire for the store. Instead only giving her best known character, Sue Heck. Many of the existing characters are objectively more annoying than her.
