Entertaining!!
Rob133112 November 2022
I didn't really know what to expect with Warrior Nun but I gave it a chance and found it to be a pretty good show. I think season 2 was even better than the first. It's a pretty fun show with plenty of action. Most of the people leaving bad reviews are people saying they only watched 10 minutes or maybe an episode but base an entire series off that. Who does that? Who only watches 10 minutes and then bases an entire series off that? Not only that but then takes the time to come write a negative review? The good news is that it was popular enough that it was renewed for a second season and hopefully a third after how good this past season was. If you're looking for a new fun sci-fi/fantasy show to binge watch then give this a try.

Alba Baptista is absolutely beautiful!
Supermanfan-1311 November 2022
Sorry, but I have to start by saying how beautiful Alba Baptista is. It's almost distracting how beautiful she is. Now, as far as Warrior Nun goes...I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to. For some reason I thought it was show aimed at tweens but I couldn't of been more wrong. This is a fun supernatural show for anyone. It's about a young woman who wakes up in the morgue after dying and has newfound powers that help in the battle between good and evil. It may start off a little slow for some but after a few episodes it really picks up and very interesting. All the characters are well written with interesting back stories. Alba Baptista is terrific as the lead and has a very bright future. I'm looking forward to this new season coming out.

Maybe in Second Season?
rafaelvasco875 July 2020
First, I must say that I watched it through. As such I at least gave it a 7. I never watch anything through if it's not at least a 7.

Overall I liked the show, but after I finished I felt it could be so much more. For the good parts, the acting is overall good, specially from Ms. Alba. She's really expressive and charming, but for me her dialogues were too cheesy and teen "angsty". Teen "angstyness" is something really prevalent in today's shows, specially on Netflix, as the target audience is mostly teenagers and twenty somethings. Yeah there was an evolution in the characters attitude through the episodes but not that much. Too much drama and teen conflicts and too little action and fighting on her part. I hope in second season she gets the chance to to more. The overall plot is interesting enough, but it only started showing what it's about in the last episode. This season had serious pacing problems. Too much time spent with teen drama and romance, and too little in the actual plot. The show is called Warrior Nun for a reason. Several dialogues had me cringing. The teeny rebellious jokes were overused. So those were the things that harmed the experience for me, pacing, bad dialogues, specially for the main character and the over focus on teen drama. That said I was left wanting to see more in the second season, so here am I hoping for things to get better.

FIGHT FOR SEASON 3!
diazabigail-9221412 November 2022
I literally cannot handle not getting a season 3 after the season 2 finale. This is such a unique story and I love all the characters. Please don't let the story end here! Ava has gone through so much throughout the show and she has grown as a character as well. We see how much the characters love each and if it is a possibility for there to be resurgence of Mary then that is what I expect once we get season 3. This show is incredibly underrated and if I could fund season 3 myself I literally would so please watch it because there are so many ways this story could end. I found myself absolutely fawning over avatrice but also the way all the other characters supported them!

This was actually impressive...
paul_haakonsen9 October 2020
I didn't even know that this series existed before stumbling upon it on Netflix one evening by browsing through the contents on Netflix. The synopsis for "Warrior Nun" sounded interesting, so I sat down to watch it.

And I ended up binge watching the series. Yeah, I must say that it caught on with me right away. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters portrayed in the series. And I must admit that I was surprised to find that they actually made a TV series of a comic book that I used to read back in my teens.

Well, the story told in "Warrior Nun" was definitely entertaining, because there were a good solid main storyline and the sub-plots that ran correspondingly with the main storyline were quite nice as well, and they were tied rather nicely in with one another. And "Warrior Nun" was definitely more than just a TV series focused on the main character Ava (played by Alba Baptista), because most characters in the movie definitely contributed something interesting and entertaining to the storylines.

But not only was the storyline good; the action in the episodes was just spectacular. I was really impressed with the action scenes and sequences throughout the episodes. That was definitely something that brought a great amount of enjoyment to watching the show for me.

Visually then "Warrior Nun" was just spectacular. The special effects and CGI in the episodes were rather good, and definitely added a very dynamic, if not realistic, layer to the show. And special effects definitely help to cement a series such as "Warrior Nun", to make it stand out from the countless other series readily available with a press of a button.

It should be said that the cast in the series was rather good, and they definitely had some interesting actresses and actors cast for the various roles throughout the show. Aside from the main actress Alba Baptista, "Warrior Nun" also boasts the likes of Kristina Tonteri-Young, Toya Turner, Thekla Reuten, Sylvia De Fanti and Joaquim de Almeida to mention but a few.

I was generally very impressed with season one and entertained by each episode. However, I must admit that the ending to the last episode was rather anti-climatic for me, and it just sort of felt like the air seeped out of the balloon at that time. But luckily there is a second season coming, so that is good news.

My rating of "Warrior Nun" is a sure seven out of ten stars. This series is well worth the time and effort.

Exceptional
Cemil-Alyanak12 November 2022
Please please give us Season 3. This series is exceptionally unique, well-produced, shows women's strength, is filmed in Europe, has actors with exceptional chemistry, I could go on. Congratulations Netlix for such an amazing show. To be frank, at first the combination of common vernacular with a divine supernatural theme felt wrong. Instead, it turns out that it works so very well. It feels both divine and modern. Last little note is about the fight sequences. Both the choreography and the execution of the fights is outstanding. And don't get me started on the final episode... epic, truly epic.

Bufffy meets The Exorcist

Warning: Spoilers
An engaging story with superb Spanish locations and cinematography, but there's just no excuse these days for a cliff hanger season ending. Who knows what next year may bring? Writers, wrap up the story arc at the end of the season, and start a new story in the same world next year! Have you never read an urban fantasy series? One season should equal one book! You don't end a season expecting another episode! This could have ended so much better.

It's a one good watch!!
mpurnima-0815312 November 2022
This is one of those series who had me hooked from starting. Of course it is straightforward good vs evil but that's what I liked about it. Here and there it becomes a little slow but in the end I enjoyed it. So definitely a watch!! And If you think that its all just something religious thing , its not. They have all that setup as the series is based on comic but believe me its a lot more than the religious talk. Now talking about characters, I really liked Ava's character and Alba Baptista did a wonderful job portraying her. Same goes for the Beatrice's and Mary's character. Its worth a shot show!!

Finished the season (10 episodes)
mayaverie9 July 2020
Put it plainly, you have to accept the kung-fu nuns from the beginning to manage enjoyment from this show. And it's certainly a thing that sets the show apart, better or worse. Beyond this obvious point, the show is religious conspiracy, and more than anything, a coming of age story. The lead- even if she may come off grinding for those looking for, well, the kung fu nuns- feels extremely human and makes you feel for her. The world seems to be against her, but to anyone familiar with the feelings of being lost and pressured, her desperate "I want to live." echoes deep. Beyond the lead, most of the characters have interesting backstories, which hopefully would be explored more beyond season 1. Right now there seems plenty of characters that have been introduced and then dropped without proper pay off, somewhat wasting the watcher's time and attachment.

Whoever wrote the dialogues should quit their job
rei-mayer232 July 2020
I like the concept, however recycled teenage dialogues are making it very difficult to concetrate. Even though it seems that the target audience are 12-16 yo teenagers it still can be a lot of fun for the older groups. This is not that. Way too cringy and cliché. Main character looks and acts like a younger version of Ellen Page with no charisma of her own. I watched almost everything on Netflix (with no criteria whatsoever) but was pretty dissapointed by this one. Would recommend pass if you're older than 16.

Would recomend
nanemg19 November 2022
The show has a very interesting premise. The characters are well developed, and their character archs dont feel forced nor rushed. First season of the show was good, it was captivating and very well devloped. Bit of a slow pacing at first but you can tell its just developing the plot. The second season was great!!! Plot lines were well developed as well. They leaned more into the action/gore, which to me was great. The character archs were even better than in the first, which to me that is saying something, because I really how they handled the character development. Overall I would 100% recomend this show to anyone looking for a new show to watch.

Unexpectedly decent
elgsdyr19 August 2022
I went into this with absolutely no prior knowledge and expected it to be crap, but ended up enjoying it quite a bit. And even more surprising as this is obviously written for teenage girls and I'm about as far from being that as you can. Of course, the target audience considered, many elements are simplistic but I can easily overlook that and enjoy the story, which believes in "itself" and the world it's building and (almost) never loses touch with its premise to fall into pitfalls of clichés and irrelevant messages that disconnects the viewer. Nice build-up of the main story and mystery, and good pacing and timing throughout. I'm really curious to see where season 2 will take us.

Not sure why they decided to make a teen-angst version of Warrior Nun
bbretall-12 July 2020
The basic premise here (from the 1990s comic series Warrior Nun Areala) is that the Catholic Church has an order of demon-fighting Nuns. It seems like they could make a pretty decent supernatural action series out of this. However, they chose to make the central character a disaffected 19-year old who is NOT a Nun and is more interested in kissing boys and partying. I think they were going for the same viewer demographic that watches Riverdale and The Vampire Diaries on the CW.

Do not sleep on this!!
saletaamelia13 November 2022
This show is Soooo good! Other than having lesbian nuns, warrior nun is such such a badass show like the cinematography, the scenarios, THE STUNTS! The emotions are beautifully executed, so sapphic, the whole plot is amazing and it keeps on building up form season 1 to 2! Alba Baptista character "Ava" is so well developed and her chemistry with Kristina Tonteri-Young "Beatrice" is absolutely perfect, I'm in love with them.

This is the type of show manga/anime - science fiction don't want to miss. I don't understand how Netflix doesn't promote it. It's incredible.

enrique1313 July 2020
I am enjoying the show. The plot and most of it has a Buffy feeling not being Buffy. It is fun to watch and the main character is a young actress I never heard of but i kind of like her acting so far. Some parts of the show are not great, but in overall i am looking forward to finish the season.

I love it
toriwillis-4040712 November 2022
The show has a captivating story line and never feels rushed. The first season moves a little slow to build up the characters and give everyone a proper arc. By the end though you will be immersed into the storyline and not want to stop watching. The second season does what not many shows can do, in that I was even better than the first. From the start we pick right back up and I was instantly on the edge of my seat. Everything you love about season one is in season two but only amplified to 1000. This show took me by surprise with its beautiful storytelling, talented actors, amazing fight choreography, and general chemistry of everyone on screen. If you haven't watch it I would highly recommend and I can't wait for a season 3 if we are lucky enough to get one!

Fast Fed thru the inner narration to see the good
mixedsoul5 July 2020
The reviews about teenage angst and narrative monologues is true. The beauty of Netflix is that you can ffw thru to the better parts. Also it gets progressively better and more interesting as the story develops and unfolds. I give Season 1 a solid 7 as it certainly peaked my interest. The women are just complex enough to stick around for, while the men are... well you'll see. No spoilers just definitely watch with your finger on the forward button the first 3 episodes for some scenes you'll be glad you did.

Another Netflix series with potential ruined by bad writers.
Every single time the main character started in with her internal monologue I cringed so hard. If it were not for that, I'd raise this to probably seven stars. But that was not the only issue. The plot holes are just huge. Quadriplegic who never left the institution where she was raised by hard ass nuns somehow has street smarts and talks like she grew up affluent?

Netflix, please stop hiring 14 year olds to write scripts.

Surprisingly, loved it a lot!
ritinhanunesribeiro12 November 2022
I just finished season 2 and it's amazing. Better than the first by a long shot. It was worth all this wait. I watched it in a day and felt bad for not having more episodes to see. I'll have to wait another year, I guess. In the meanwhile, I'll rewatch everything again. I truly hope it gets the recognition it deserves. The cast and crew are incredible, the places, the storyline, the music, etc. It really matured and can see it grow even further. Hope they renew it soon... And I hope people will give it a real and fair chance before judging or jumping to conclusions. I'm Christian and I can love this story too. One thing doesn't exclude the other, like I read in some reviews. Be kind and love, it's all that matters.

So much potential
klperkins079 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It has potential. I'd say it is similar to an extent to any YA fantasy or sci-fi drama ei Motherland : Fort Salem type show. Too much narration like "You" or "Daybreak" which are both Netflix originals.

People here are so dumb tho, they think "Netflix" is actually making the show.. Netflix greenlights and maybe purchases the rights, but as a company has very little to do with the actual stories or scripts.. and I'm sure didn't have much to do with the actual production of the series.. a lot of times in these instances, the show is already produced and shot and Netflix is just the distributor. So to blame Netflix is completely ridiculous.

The show could use better dialogue at times and the fight scenes seem too choreographed. I get bored with the teenage angst and some of the drawn out life lesson dialogue.. more action and shooting or do a better job of building this world and developing the characters.

Ava tho is a total jerk. Given a second chance at life and can walk after being bed ridden majority of her life and just acts a complete a** when blessed with a second chance out side of a few moments of humility. The nuns should just take the Halo out of her back if she refuses to follow the plan or be on board with their ideology. That simple. Because of that fact and the CW feel of rhe show that should be a tid bit grittier in nature, I have to give the show a 6. Ava goes on saying she didn't ask for any of this over and over again, but at the end of the day, the Halo is a part of the OCS, so If she is just gonna be an a**hole the first 6 episodes, then just take the Halo from here and end it all. Problem solved.

Edit: Horrible wigs on Ava in flashback scenes lol and you can tell the show was shot out of sequence. Shotgun Mary's hair/ braids looks rough and frizzy in first few episodes and then perfectly freshly braided in the 5th/6th episode lol kinda ruins continuity a little for me. Production/ hair and make up matter, braids like that do take a long time to have to redo and hard to keep fresh looking after a lot of sweating over days time, but then you have to keep that in mind when filming.

The CGI is pretty decent for the kind of show it is.

I like inclusiveness and diversity and love some of the messages they want to make.. but the execution was bad. For instance, woman are strong and don't need men to be White Knights saving them, right? But LITERALLY she was yelling help while drowning in a pool she jumped in, instead of swimming at the beach she was just at of course, so JC jumped in a saved her (by the way, why didn't the Halo just glow and levitate her out the water or help her swim like it helps her fight at times?) and then the shower scene, she yelled like she was being attacked, so of course JC came running in, but then after when they're eating breakfast, she's like "I don't need you to keep rescuing me, I can slay my own dragons" which is over the top, out of no where and he only has rescued her when she was about to die or screaming like she was about to die lol

Who gives the green light to spend so much money on such horrendous dialogue?
werry3002 July 2020
Cringy, nonsensical dialogue makes this impossible to watch for me. Maybe 14 year old me would have liked it, I don't know... I can even ignore the bad acting, don't mind it that much, but the script is so cliche and embarrassing to listen, I would rather save myself the pain and stop watching.

Fantasy Thriller
Pairic13 July 2020
Warrior Nun: A secret order of nuns dedicated to combating demons, generally just the wraith type which possess people but occasionally more fearsome ones. Their leader is killed during an ambush and her internal halo is transplanted into a dead girl. Ava (Alba Baptista), reanimating her and bestowing superpowers on her. The Halo has been passed down for centuries and was meant for another nun who is now jealous. We get nuns armed with crossbows, swords, rifles. These are Ninja Nuns. There is a conniving Cardinal and a lot of Church intrigue. A scientist is also involved who has her own plans for Church relics made from Divinium (a bit like unobtainium). Ava runs away and teams up with a gang of young grifters. Great combat scenes, well imagined demons. The RCC Hierarchy don't come out of this smelling of roses so it may substantially differ from the comic book series it's based on. Good fantasy thriller. 8/10. Ten episodes, on Netflix.

Cool unique show
Ashitaka13719 August 2020
Interesting sci-fi/fantasy show that is founded on a serious subject like religion, without being a caricature or offensive. The story line makes sense and it has some really good action scenes; those nuns are bad ass, especially sister Beatrice. Hope it gets a second season.
