Better than what i expected
MrNeurosis18 October 2019
Ignore the negative reviews. See it for yourself and then judge. Its lot better than majority of recent shows which have been complete disappointment. The opening scene alone sent chills through my spine. I am definitely looking forward to more episodes. Limetown is very un settling and disturbing show with great atmosphere. Definitely targeted towards the older audience who want a little more substance and mystery in their TV shows. Watch it!!

So far, a very compelling thriller/mystery.
TalulaGrey18 October 2019
I have just finished the first two episodes and I cannot wait for the next installment. Jessica Biel is excellent in her role as the reporter investigating a 15 year old case of mass disappearance. There are flashback scenes which add to the mystery. I don't want to tell you any more because it might spoil it for you.

So far there has not been any crazy special effects or any cgi and this is a good thing as it's all about the story and atmosphere. The episodes are about half-an-hourish long and are quite riveting. I hope the coming episodes are as captivating as the first two have been.

Don't know how it could have been improved
rkrainak-1533412 November 2019
But it should have before releasing.

My wife made it thru 4 episodes and called it quits. I made the 8 that are out (until tomorrow) but I'm not sure why.

Premise sounded a lot better than execution.

Rushed ending

Warning: Spoilers
The first few episodes were absolutely amazing. Napoleon is easily a 9 or above for me. A really good story with very upsetting moments.

The ending, though, oh dear, it was severely rushed and straightforward. The whole story got summed up in the final episode with someone literally TELLING Lia the answers. That is literally the worst thing you could do. The mystery and discovery became useless at that point.

Great podcast transformed into mediocre
ryan_mckelvie21 October 2021
The podcast was fantastic but this adaptation adds too much fluff that does not help the story along. I would highly recommend the podcast but then skip this. Especially since it's been cancelled it's not worth getting into.

Creepy and interesting
markfln1019 October 2019
The show is slow paced, yes, but its in its natural rhytm. So far, nothing off. Just weird. Not a generic show, definetly. It gives a creepy "Wayward Pines" vibe. I'll keep watching it. Dare to think the inimaginable and try watching this eerie, weird new show. Its interesting.

Jessica Biel is a great actress
superenigmatix4 November 2019
After watching her in The Sinner and now Limetown I am impressed by her abilities. She is the linchpin for this series, and good it is too. An interesting puzzle and good supporting cast, very binge-able if that's what does it for you.

Started good...
hellebenzon-263673 February 2021
... but in my oppinion it's a must, that you feel the main character, and somewhat like that person. I'm sorry, but I really don't! I didn't dislike her from the start, but she was creeping me out. She is a really bad and egotistical person, and that turned me of from the show. In the end I practically didn't care, what happened to the people of Limetown, I just hoped she would die a horrible death :-D That set aside, it's a somewhat okay plot, and well... I finished it :-D

Well it gets you hooked in and then goes nowhere, slowly. Watch it if you're visiting your in-laws so you have an excuse not to talk to them!

Limetown has me hooked! I've watched the first two episodes and can't wait for the next! Jessica Biel has done an incredible job as Lia Haddock, investigating the mystery of Limetown!

Gripping mystery TV mini-series featuring an outstanding Jessica Biel
paul-allaer21 December 2020
"Limetown" (2019 release; 10 episodes of 28 to 32 min. each) brings the fictional story of the mysterious disappearance in 2004 of 326 people from a scientific research facility in Tennessee. As Episode 1 "I Have Heard the Future" opens, we are introduced to Lia Haddock, an American Public Radio journalist. She is in her hotelroom, and out of the blue a guy is banging his head against the hotel room's door, harder and harder. "This is your warning!" he screams. We then go th "Eight Days Earlier", as Lia is struggling with her work on a podcast about the Limetown events. In a flashback, we get to know the Limetown community as it initially came together. It isn't long before strange things are happening... At this point we are 10 minutes into Episode 1, but to tell you more of the plot would spoil your viewing experience, you'll just have to see for yourself how it all plays out.

Couple of comments: this tv mini-series is the small screen adaptation of the popular 2015 podcast of the same name. I have not listened to the podcast and hence cannot comments how closely the TV adaptation sticks to the podcase. What I can comment on is that this series is likely to draw you in and keep your attention from start to finish. The opening episode does a wonderful jon setting up the entire series as it clecerly mixes the various elements of the show: what really happened in 2004 when all those people disappeared, how things are playing out as Lia Haddock is doing her investigation, and Lia's personal jouney (both at her job at APR and outside of work) in all of this. By the time we found ourselves in Episode 4 "Napoleon", it's as if you are reading a mystery novel and you can't wait to turn the pages to see how it all is going to play out. The series is directed by up-and-coming Rebecca Thomas. More importantly, the series is Executive Produced by, and stars, Jessica Biel, who is front and center in the opening epiodes. To be clear: Biel is nothing short of outstanding, and this series is among the best acting work she's ever done, period. Stanley Tucci plays her uncle, and one of the 326 people who disappeared. There are plenty of other noteworthy performances. Check out for example John Beasley as Revered Chambers. Bottom line: this is one of the better TV mini-series I've watched in the past year.

"Limetown" premiered in Fall of 2019 on the Facebook Watch platform. Why it didn't debut on a more prominent platform is a mystery to me. It is now available on other streaming platforms, including peacock (where I caught it recently), but apparently still not on Amazon Instant Video. Strange if you ask me. All that aside, if you are in the mood for an engrossing mystery drama featuring an outstanding lead in Jessica Biel, I'd readily suggest you check this out and draw your own conclusion.

Listeners beware
mokienatrix30 December 2020
As a fan of the podcast, I was looking forward to this show. Unfortunately, changes to the character and plot for the sake of generating extra AMC-style drama nearly derail the mystery itself - making Lia a skeevy basketcase does more to distract from the story than to translate it to TV.

Worth watching? Nope.
CrazyArty5 August 2021
A journalist (Jessica Biel) investigates a town of scientists where 15 years ago the whole population just disappeared without a trace and were never seen again. Her uncle was one of them.

The 10 part season chugs along unravelling the mystery at a good enough pace. I really like the initial premise of the story but in the end it turned out to be nothing that special.

I won't spoil what happens but there are definitely some interesting ideas here. Is it ultimately worth watching? No it's not. Boxed sets need to be very strong to justify the big investment of time. This is just ok, the ending and explanation are really not great.

Not sure about how many stars yet

Warning: Spoilers
A few reviews about the sex scenes, I.E. if that was a man............... OK leave that alone and watch the program.

For me I want to see the next episode, sex scenes are not in your face in fact I didn't notice straight away, but the sex scenes as far as I can tell are not much to do with the program, though I could be wrong.

Interesting show I am not to sure where it is going but it has a few ideas that are interesting, so I will watch more before I decide to turn it off because of someones sex scene problems.

Some reviewers saying they wouldn't recommend it because of the sex scenes, some people said it was hard to watch.

For me after the sex scene I was not thinking about more sex, I was interested in what is happening, just my view though.

She likes to record sounds, she works in a recording studio, it might be some sort of fetish for her, good luck I say. She isn't harming anybody.

Let's see where this is going first I say.

P.S. I was eating a pepperoni pizza while they old man was communicating with the pig.

I liked the idea a lot, could you imagine.

Dam, if that's true then fruit and veg for me, if I ever get to hear a pigs thoughts though.

Hilarious

This show is a must watch. It's hilarious to me that it has such poor reviews! Almost like a conspiracy to stop viewers from finding out the truth! Alright I went too far with that one... literally every episode has me gripped. Jessica Biel is on amazing form with a super interesting back story. The supporting cast and production of this show is just amazing as well! Do your self a favour and watch an episode. If you don't like it KUWTK is probably more your jam.

Psychological hysteria
skt946-149-66792117 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Like shows like this, however, this one drags of weirdness. In one scene a guy shows up at a motel banging his head against the door incessantly trying to paint the door with his brains apparently. You mean to tell me no one else at the Bates Motel hears it. I will give it a chance, hopefully it will get better.

Love this genre!
grakky17 November 2019
A creepy sci fi supernatural suspense mystery thriller....it needs a shorter genre label :) I want to binge watch it but holding back, don't want it to end that soon. Jessica Biel is stunningly awesome as usual. Good stuff guys!

They Could Have Done Better
xoqueenofhartsox8 November 2019
I have listened to the podcast and this show could have done better. Jessica Biel is not portraying the character accurately and is more interrogating people rather than interviewing them as journalists do. Lia was a professional in the podcast and not a cold, insecure, emotional mess that Biel is portraying. Honestly not a fan of the casting choice for her to play Lia. This was just a promotion for the terrible book that was more of a prequel about her character than the history of Limetown.

Not sure what the negative reviewers are watching...
ayadia25 October 2019
But I don't see how it can be this! 4 episodes in, and I'm finding it really captivating, I like the plot line and I'm finding it really interesting guessing where this is going. Really good build up, very good acting from everyone I have seen so far, film style is quite simple but it works nicely and I think it has real depth to it, creepy but not in an overly scary way. Enjoyable, looking forward to next Wednesday for the next episode.

Warning: Spoilers
But it really turns out to be a lot of nothing. Made it through 4 episodes and can't be bothered with any more. 4 episodes and "pleasures herself" in each one. What the hell, even after hearing an awful confession. Doesn't make any sense at all

Bingeworthy
wardsworldwide14 November 2019
Watched all 10 eps over 2 while sick and really enjoyed it.Each episode had a cliff hangar making you want to see the next one. I have loved Jess since her 7th Heaven days and she is very good as the protagonist. The production values are really high as well, a lot of money must have gone into it. I would highly recommend it

I wanted to like this show. I was very intrigued by the Roanoke-esque premise. But it just doesn't work. Jessica Biel's protagonist Lia is not relatable and if we are being honest she isn't likable either. The fellow journalist she is saddled with, Mark, comes across as utterly bland, forgettable, and fussy. The story has the ability to kick into gear and be interesting with flashbacks and side characters but it never lasts and then you are jolted back to the grim present. I will keep watching to see how things pan out but it is out of stoic resolve not excitement over the plot or interest in the characters.

Jessica Biel Rocks
MissFoxxxy337 October 2021
I read the poor ratings & went into this expecting garbage. Not at all. I enjoyed it. I believe the low ratings are the ones who didn't understand it. This show is about our current situation with the world... I will say no more, as I am not going to spoil it for you!!
