Sex & Nudity

  • The anime is very clean when it comes to this.
  • A character has one of her uniform buttons undone, and it shows moderate cleavage. Other characters do not comment on her appearance.
  • One short kissing scene (fraction of a second) between 2 parents.
  • Minor characters do show some cleavage, but there's no fan service like other mainstream anime.
  • Two characters show cleavage (not too much but clearly visible). There's no fan service done with these characters though, and they both only appear 1-2 times.
  • A man, after being trapped in acidic substance, breaks free however his uniform, etc has been dissolved. Nothing explicit though, it only displays his shoulder to waist at most and is very brief. The final part of the scene is played for comedic effect.
  • In season 3, one antagonist shows some cleavage.
  • In Episode 7 Tanjiro and Nezuko walks into an alley and accidentally walks in on a couple kissing.
  • In the entertainment district arc, there are conversations involving prostitutes.
  • A girl shows cleavage while running, however a boy closes up her kimono.
  • A tragic past of one of the antagonists is that she had to be a prostitute to gain money but no nudity or sex is shown.
  • One of the characters has three wives and all three of them are wearing revealing clothes but their full breasts are not visible.
  • A character in the swordsmith village arc is in a hot spring standing up, you can see her breasts and bare buttocks but you cant see anything explicit.
  • Minor suggestive references.
  • A major character in season three becomes flustered whenever around girls. This is especially in a scene where he's hugged by a woman with a revealing outfit.

Violence & Gore

  • Demons get their heads chop off pretty often either by the protagonist or demon slaying organization. however with the type of sword tanjiro uses, all you see is animated water slashing the head. no extreme gore.
  • Both humans and demons die. Some scenes involve the heads of demons being slashed but because of the shows animation its not gory. When the sun comes out the demons evaporate into thin air.
  • Many Bloody decapitations of demons.
  • An eye appears on the ground with blood behind it.
  • It is very common per episode for there to be blood and violence, however since its animated its about as bad as your average superhero movie.
  • The Natagumo Mountain Arc is the scariest arc in season one. Minor characters die and a characters hand appears with a gruesome spider bite on it several times.
  • The last episode contains violence as demons get destroyed with some bloodshed.
  • it is very typical for episodes to have a lot of sword fighting and bloody deaths. It is not the worst but definitely could make some young viewers uncomfy.
  • One demon uses threads to shred a demon slayer into a bunch of pieces
  • A demon kills a woman in a non-violent way, but it's very gory since the woman's cells start pumping and get destroyed (we get some close-ups on the face during that), turning her into a blob that melts into the ground.
  • Often bloody decapitations and severing limbs. But the impact and circumstances of the action lowers it's tone. Some includes hands rapidly growing out of a humanoid body, squeezing it's head until it bursts, or a human body shredded to pieces with a piece of thread. Lots of blood, but minimum gore shown.
  • In one episode demon explodes in blood. After that you see her clothes on the ground and it's blood and gore all around it.
  • Both humans and demons die. Demons mostly die with their body parts being chopped off. Very bloody.
  • A demon, with her powers, wrecks several houses, causing large chaos. A man got his right arm cut clean(Only blood is seen in the area of injury) and lots of bloody scenes with some people lying dead as their partners scream in horror with blood on their faces.

  • Near the end of the entertainment district ark, a main character's fingers forcibly broken by a demon and later, they are stabbed through the mouth.

  • A young demon girl uses her herself as shield to save her brother leading to being slashed brutally, a lot of gore and blood is shown.

  • In the 1st season, a girl is hanged and tortured with threads by a demon, blood was shown spilling out of her thighs and arms.
  • Some scenes with demon regenerating their bloody heads, it's really graphical

  • A man cuts himself so that he could use his own blood to tempt a demon girl into attacking him

  • A demon's face is burned up with her eye ball popping out, this may look disturbing for some viewers.
  • Characters always end up with brutal injuries and bloodied up after violent and intense battles while some end up dead, very bloody show.

  • In a backstory, we see someone getting his entire arm Dismembered by demon after trying to save his own brother, in fact that one scene is one of the darkest , bloodiest and goriest scenes of the entire anime
  • Violence is a common thing throughout the series, with pools of blood and demons having limbs and their own head cut off by demon slayers.
  • In the show, there's just blood, no guts or anything like that. There are some meaty like substances that are connecting a demons head in season 2, but most of it is just blood.
  • Body horror in season 2. Not that bad though.
  • There will be a lot of gore and death shown throughout the series, which is going to be complemented by morbid and gory characters, as well as intense and violent fighting scenes.

Profanity

  • The subtitles have mild profanity occasionally. Nothing worse than "damn" or "hell" in english versions.
  • One time someone says the word "boobs"
  • A character (Yushiro) calls a girl (Nezuko) an old hag in the sub. In the english dub however, he only states she's "not much to look at"
  • Little uses of pis*ed
  • Profanity is PG-level when it is present, with most episodes having no profanity whatsoever.
  • In English dub, frequent mild coarse language including "hell" and "damn", some uses of "crap" and "bastard", a couple use of "piss" and one use of "shit".
  • One character calls a demon a "piece of shit"
  • Several uses of "hell" and "damn". Somewhat use of "crap", and a few uses of "bastard".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some characters drink and smoke
  • There's scenes of high school students smoking.
  • A group of siblings can be seen drunk, also getting into bad situations.
  • A major character's father is an alcoholic and is often seen with a bottle of liquor.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Very intense fights between demons and humans in which there is ALOT of blood and gore.
  • Many of the demons look quite frightening. Some of them look more human than others and don't look too scary, but some are completely abnormal and monstrous in form.
  • Mugen train arc's end is extremely emotional and intense.
  • Rated PG 13/R for Violence, and Bloody/Disturbing Images
  • Ideal rating: TV-14-V for severe, bloody violence
  • A lot of body horror are present in the show, the Mugen train arc contains body horror and intense scenes.
  • The flashbacks can be very emotional for viewers
  • The show might be somewhat frightening/serious at times
  • Overall, the show is somewhat gory, but not over the top or anything
  • The is a darkest anime, as this show deals with heavy topics.

Sex & Nudity

  • When Nezuko grows she does grow breast's/ taller however no sexual comments are made and it is not fan service.
  • In the first episode of the third season, Tanjiro wants to make friends by getting naked.
  • In Season 3, it contains some sexual references and partial nudity, but very mild and not explicit.

Violence & Gore

  • There is one demon that can make very sharp spider webs that cut through humans and other demons like butter. He mentions this though its not seen.
  • Very violent in the last episode the main demon kills a bunch of other demons causing a lot of blood and death this is over all a more violent anime than many
  • In the second episode Nezuko kicks off a demons head. It is seen flying through the air and hits a tree. The rest of the demons decapitated body falls next to Tanjiro.
  • A demon kills another demon by ripping their head off. This happens offscreen. A few seconds after, you can see the severed head with blood pouring out of the neck. This can be disturbing to viewers with a weak stomach.
  • Lots and lots of gore, including dismemberment, puddles of blood, blood sprays, and even eyeballs getting gouged out.
  • There is one scene in which a demon slayer cuts a demon's head and limbs off. the slashes ae shown first and the demon stares wide eyed at the audience then explodes into little pieces
  • There is one pretty graphic scene where the demon king (Muzan Kibutsuji) kills a bunch of his main "soldier demons" (the lower moons) by ripping thier heads off, crushing them and making them explode into large piles of gore. This scene is also dragged on for quitw a while, and all the disgusting detail is seen.
  • Despite Nezuko retaining some of her humanity, her condition is discriminated by other Demon Slayer Corps who say that all demons must die and refuse to listen to Tanjiro's protest or attempt to kill and stab him to death for "protecting" demons.
  • In the mount natagumo arc a spider demon uses threads to control the demon slayers when she is about to lose she pulls on the strings cracking the demon slayers neck no blood or gore whatsoever but might make kids or people uncomfy
  • Nezuko kicks Daki's head, her upper half of her head decapitated. No bone/tissue are seen, but blood and one or two veins are shown as she quickly regrows her head.
  • In the second season (Mugen Train Arc) a man is killed. You can see blood splattered on the other side of a window, and there is a sound effect. However, this is shown for just a few seconds.
  • In the first season, a demon flows his blood through a woman's head, causing her to explode.

Profanity

  • A character calls nezuko a "Blood slut" after trying to get her to attack him. "Slut" was used once.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • One character is cut by threads and suspended upside-down in mid-air. Blood drips down from her legs and arms.
  • Three arms grow out of a demon's body, two on her torso and one on her head. The one from her mouth grabs her head and crushes it, as a result of a curse. It does cut off just before it happens. This scene is shocking and intense.
  • Two characters' deaths are shown in flashbacks. They are described while there is are two images onscreen. These depict the characters' brutal deaths but are outlined to avoid being too graphic.
  • In one episode, a demon is beat by another demon, while the rest of the 'family' just watch and don't intervene. This scene is upsetting for some viewers.
  • The main character's family is killed. There is a scene in which their dead bodies are shown, however it is only briefly and is not overly graphic.
  • There is a scene where a Demon is strung up and gets purposefully burned by sunlight.
  • There is a scene where multiple characters' necks are twisted and then broken by strings.
  • One of the main arcs is based around demons that take the appearance of spiders, this can be disturbing if you have arachnophobia, or if you're made uncomfortable by spiders/insects, as there are depictions of webs, detailed spider bodies, smaller spiders crawling around, poisonous bites, and poison in general. However, this is extremely mild if you're okay with creepy things like bugs.
  • Nezuko maintaining her humanity is heavily discriminated by other demon slayers, as they believe all demons are evil. A few of even even attempted to kill Tanjiro for protecting his sister,
  • Since Nezuko became a demon, she can only speak by crying and screaming.
  • Nezuko bawling and screaming her head off when Tanjiro pacifies her demonic state by singing their mother's lullaby, causing her to shrink and sleep.
  • Kanao's past shows her being abused by her parents wile living in poverty and forced into slavery. When Shinobu and Kanae rescue her, it takes a while for Kanao to recover from her trauma and thank her saviors.
  • Inosuke's mother was abused by her husband.
  • Every demon slayer goes through severe trauma.
  • When Inosuke first met Zenitsu, protecting the box Nezuko was in, he orders it to give it to him, When Zenitsu refuses, Inosuke resorts to nearly beating him and stabbing him and Nezuko to death, forcing Tanjiro to save them by knocking Inosuke out.
  • Several people are impaled on swords and stuck together. May be frightening as it is made light of by the villain.
  • Nezuko sacrifices herself to defeat the hangengu in season 3 and burns to death by the sun. Although it is revealed that she survives later on this scene might be to scary for younger viewers.
  • The main plot is that the main character Tanjiro has to get Nezuko back to her human form after turned into demon and killed their family. The storyline is intense, emotional, and tragedy throughout.
