Not Bad Chad
drfraserk9 February 2019
I recon it's not a bad show. I watch a lot of cars shows, including ones on YouTube. The production value is high. The kind of cars that Chad builds are definitely different. If you like restomods or high end builds you won't like what he does. I just don't believe that every show should be a cookie cutter, carbon copy, we need a 'this' character and a 'that' character, I think it's a show about a Canadian guy being and building what he wants.

Decent show

It's ok. Probably would give it a 5, but for the girlfriend I added a couple more points. She is the life saver for this thing. She looks so out of place. She should be on a top model show or a Siesta Key actress. Delicious

Creativity is craziness to the dull
dgocana86 February 2019
I like chad. He's a strange personality, he makes silly jokes, rough around the edges and just speaks his mind. Sure he may have had a rough past not being there for his son before, but he has made a living doing what he loves, and hopefully his son and him can make things right. I think the bad reviews are from people who lack in creativity and may not have experienced having to do with what you have. Making lemonade out of lemons. Chad takes what he has and makes the best he can from it. I'd like to see what work he could turn out with the right tools, more money and his beautiful creativity.

Jackson Pollock Building Cars, Original, Entertaining,
stephenwatson94120 January 2019
Most car building / restoration shows follow the same cookie cutter formula. Take a bucket of rust, throw some chrome on it, have a few giggles in there, make profit. With Bad Chad Customs (BCC) you have no idea what kind of cookie you are going to end up with, it may not even be a cookie. It's refreshing as this show is original, genuine, and most importantly lacks that dreaded scripted feel most reality shows possess today. Chad Hiltz, aka "Bad Chad," lets you inside his artistic mind and guides you the viewer along on the process of how he builds his one off vehicles. Definitely worth watching, whether a car lover or not.

Good start, waiting for more.
surleyblaine11 March 2019
Chad tells it straight, doesn't claim to be the best, aspires to be. Admits to his short comings and appreciates the talent around him. Unlike other similar shows he doesn't run around putting flashy expensive pieces on. He shows what you can do with what you have. You may not like what comes out in the end but have to appreciate to creative process it took to get there. They are making rolling art that, like most art, is subject to personal taste. Chad is still in the early years of building his reputation. Considering they are in Canning, Nova Scotia with a population of under 3000, is off to a good start. Draws his inspiration from the likes of George Barris.

I really wonder what lies beneath, when you see some of the frantic cutting and welding followed by panic stricken cutting and welding you really have to ask how things look under all that zany questionable bodywork. Some of the builds might look reasonable but when it comes to precision technicals "it looks straight" doesn't really fill one with feelings of ultimate survival.

Good old Canadian Redneck ingenuity!
theonlybluesbrother17 March 2019
I binged watched the series. To the folks that call him a bad Dad do you know what his rights were in regards to his boy growing up? Have you ever worked with family? My son has worked with me for the last 9 years. He didn't have any skills and had to learn it all from the ground up. I was harder on him than anyone else because I want him to succeed, to understand the value in work well done and to take pride in his achievements. If he was such a bad father I can only assume his joy would never have come to live and work with him. In regards to his girlfriend and seen nothing but respect in the show towards her. Take this for what it is a good show about a good old boy from the East coast who's doing his own thing. Oh yeah and the guy about the supercharger I'm 54 and never had the opportunity to drive a vehicle with one and I've had a lot of cars. He is a fabricator with a wild imagination who has a great carpenter and mechanic to handle the other heavy lifting.

Sorry for rambling but keep up the great work and let's all try not to gauge this guy by 6 hours of edited TV.

I'm a fan and hope they'll be more to follow!!

Jesus, what an ash hole.
steve_t5092 March 2021
I stumbled across this recently, and the '34 Olds dump truck project sounded interesting. So I went ahead and recorded all 5 episodes that were on the schedule.

The Cadillac roadster build turned out far better than I expected, although there were some crude looking details and awkwardly proportioned shapes.

The dump truck build was like a bad joke. He wanted it to look like a toy. Great. But he also built it like a toy, and that's pathetic. A hand-cranked dump mechanism, built with rusty scavenged motorcycle parts? Seriously? They've never heard of electric motors? No openable tailgate? A wooden slat park bench in place of a real seat? What could have been an actual useful tool styled to look like a toy was instead simply rendered as a mostly useless toy. Fun to look at, pose with, and play around, but not much utility.

Way too many minutes spent standing around pointlessly yakking, and not nearly enough showing actual work being done, or how the engineering challenges of adapting things to do something they were never meant to do were solved. If you want a show that actually teaches you something, Full Custom Garage is great for metalwork, and (sadly cancelled) Fantomworks will give some useful mechanical tips and hints. Even Wheeler Dealers dispenses useful knowledge about the mechanical inner workings in most episodes.

I realize that abuse, derision, and fear are widely seen as valid training methods. And if your sole concern is the end product then they might even be deemed effective. If you're actually aware that you're interacting with a person otoh, it's just a toxic and damaging work environment. I've worked for ash holes like him. Briefly. Life's too short to put up with hating having to go to work, and constantly second-guessing if you're going to get yelled at.

Bottom line, I watched the Cadillac episode. And then forced myself to sit through the Oldsmobile pickup episode to see what the final result looked like and for any tiny build clues I could see in the background while somebody was standing around droning inanities. Skimmed to the end of the remaining 3 episodes to see the end product, erased them, and cancelled the DVR program.

He doesn't restore or mod, he creates incredible, beautiful vehicles from scratch. Out of junk.

Great Show!
shanmcb-032246 October 2020
We throughly enjoy watching Chad's creativity unfold per episode! It's a different kind of build than you witness on other car shows, which is why we are drawn to the show. Furthermore, we love the relationship he has with his crew and the skills he is instilling in his kid. As an imperfect parent of two, it's not easy these days to raise strong, ethical men especially in a super sensitive society. Good job Chad!! We Love your show!

DYI Artist Quirky Rebel with a custom car cause!
valerianmatthews29 August 2021
I'm not a gear head, but I love watching this show. Chad is a real artist. I love his team, Alex is a genius, Jolene is keeping things grounded and Colton has a good heart. Aaron is a back wood artist in his own right. Together they show the world that with imagination we can do more with less. Recycle, ReUse, refurbish..Dont let lack of money hold you back from doing what you love. They better renew this for season 3 and beyond!

Doesn't pass the smell test
fbmike12 August 2019
Watched the first season of 6 episodes and have quite a few issues with it. First off, not nearly enough detail. Mostly shows dudes that look they they are from the back woods cutting up car body parts they find in fields and stuff, make a few comments along the way then the show goes to finished product without showing much of what was actually done. Of all the car shows I've seen, the cars built here look like they would be the first to fall apart. Nothing is shown of what is done with suspension, brakes, drive train, wiring or much of anything else beside bending and cutting sheet metal. No body prep is ever shown and the dude doesn't even paint in a paint booth. Looks like it's in a garage with the doors wide open. Maybe country joe from the bayoe paints his alligator boats that way but that's not the way it's done. Cars look good at a glance but probably up close show bug skid marks in the paint and looking underneath probably shows everything held together with bailing wire. Just the impression I get. This series doesn't pass the smell test for me. I love car build shows but I'm not a fan of this one.

BAD T.V.
jglambgary29 January 2019
This guy almost takes pride in being a deadbeat dad he say's I am 47 he is 21 but I don't know him. The way he talks to the kid I think he is lucky he did not grow up with him. The kid comes off as more mature and has a lot of patience with his egotistical dad. His cars are something I would expect from any teenager building his own cars they are not anything you would want. Honestly what do you expect from a guy who gives himself his own nickname. I am sick of these people today that give themselves nicknames that is not how nicknames work. I tried hard to watch the show because I love car's. You will not see anything you will use and you will learn nothing but bad habits. Building and ugly car or truck is not a bad car unless you mean bad to be a negative. There are a lot of T.V. shows that show guys building a car or truck and they explain why they do things and in the end they always have a car or truck you would not mind owning. This is a show about building ugly cars with a guy with and ego he is almost 50 and has a 20 something girlfriend and a son he put no time in. I would not be surprised if this guy had done time in jail. If you have not watched this don't his over the top accent and his treatment of the people around him you will end up regretting watching it. The guy brags about being and elite car builder none of the cars he has shown fit that and he say's he had never driven a car with a supercharger on it. How can you say you are a great car builder and make that statement I was 16 the first time I drove one with one. By the time I was 18 I had driven cars with superchargers, blowers, dual quads, tri power etc.. I built GTO'S and I am not walking around saying they call be king of the auto. The best advice watch the other shows on this station and just skip this one.

Maybe in Canada folks like Chad are considered an awesome dude
billbonu5 March 2020
And great car builder.here in the states he'd be considered an immature clown building junk that probably won't make it to the gas station and back without a five pound chunk of Bondo and half the rigged up suspension falling off.as far as his family,it's sad to see the way he treats his wife and kid when things aren't going right and throws his little tirades and tantrums like a five year old.thats the best they can do in Canada?no wonder Canadians who want a car built always fly to America to find a builder.should be called mad miserable Chad jalopies.i thought Ian Russel was a joke with his Arian nation lighting bolts on his forearms.the dude has birds tattooed on his face.nuff said.

Chad the chancer
brucefraser-9849820 February 2022
His builds are probably the worst i have ever seen, i am 40+ years in the motor trade and none of what he builds are fit for the road, His "Bugatti" is an absolute disgrace and nothing short of dangerous, it will never be a running driving car as its near impossible to drive, anyone trying regardless of size and build will never see out the side windows, there is zero structure to the vehicle so would fold like a wet cardboard box in the rain and yet he is building for his WIFE !! Its a death trap and then his voice, i cant listen to the narcissistic know it all prat, i have forgotten more than he will even know...rant over !

Funniest Show on Television
kamron-4450028 June 2020
Genuinely the most entertaining show I've ever seen. Not because it's actually good, but because Bad Chad says, "Cer", a comical amount of times per episode and also looks like a crack addict who hasn't slept in 3 days. Not to mention all this guy seems to be able to do on the car side is extend them and paint. Overall though, a very funny show when you realize how funny this guy is and how much of a baby he can be.

VERY LOW QUALITY CARS, NOT LIKE THE CALIFORNIA BOYS CARS
hd_renchh-375067 December 2020
1ST I CAN STAND HOW HE TREATS HIS SON, he builds low quality hot rods like rag tops with not rag top, no wipers, etc, the wheels on one car are to far inside the car not spaced right, he does have some talent as a body man, but he is not a great hot rod builder, IMO HE CARS look childish, the cars he builds for his rockabilly weekend are so ugly and unfinnished, he thinks he some kind of car god,, but if you compare his builds with other builders from the u.s. his cars are a joke. thy say he has no money to build cars but he got 50.000$ from the blue car w the volkswagon hood for the trunk, and he bought a brand new f 150 4x4 [60.000$] so he chooses to use junk, [he makes more that way. the last car i saw he built [season 2 yellow pinto is by far the most UGLY car ive seen from him and he charges $40k-50k, to a college professor, man it was so ugly and unfinnished, i think he put in wood planks for the floor, i feel sorry for his son being humiliated on tv like that, and the kid works so hard, folks might think in nova scotia he is a car god, but he is far from it, just look at the cars he makes. i wonder if there is a season 3 for him? i hope not, they need to find a better show.

Is this a Comedy show?
bryanbishop-342194 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's like the Community Brad lives in has come together in order to support someone with mental disabilities. In such a way to make Brad feel like he's a top notch car builder 😂 In short, the community and his friends are doing there very best to make Brads dream come true and build Brads Confidence despite his disabilities. God bless him, but it does appears that Brad is having a good time regardless if he knows what's going on in the world or not.🤡
