This Show is Seriously Really Good
masonbernhardt9 April 2021
This episode is flat out awesome. The beginning is kinda slow but then you realize their just great character building scenes. That definitely payoff in the end of this episode. The finale in this episode is as good if not better than the pilot. I mean fr that last was freaking nuts and so surprising! Only thing I don't like about the show is I want all the damn episodes! The show works way better that way but sadly Prime won't do that. In long run though it won't matter cause this show is just flat out kick ass.

Jaw Dropping Insane Action and Turncoat Evil! More Twists and Turns with Shockinly
scottmannen111 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is the pinacle of then series so far! After watching the first few episodes I was expecting this show to be really good, possibly great, but this has officially crossed into flat out LEGENDARY territory! I am still sitting here clenching my toes and my mind is going in different directions as I am still trying to figure out WTF just happened and who is really a hero and who is really someone with turncoat intentions, and who is really there to be a super hero!

That's how this show is, and how a truly gripping show should be! Clearly the fact that I am sitting here half an hour after finishing episode 5 writing an episode review speaks volumes on my assessment of this show! A good show whether it be a film or tv series should cause the viewer to be running through the events of said show for many hours after the show had ended. I mean a normal show would end and then that would be it for me...and on to my next...except when something like this has you still thinking about it for hours or even days after you finished watching it is a very good sign indeed! The fact that they aren't shy about shedding blood and lives brings home the fact that being a hero isn't your normal profession. It is a brutal job, one that comes with blood, gore, loss of lives of the people around you and the sheer trauma that these things incur. For our new hero Invincible here sure seems very vulnerable having had come within a mere millimetre of losing his life in this episode.

For Invincible coming so close to dying did you all not find it strange that his father seemed to have been overseeing Invincible at the final fight yet did nothing to help him out whatsoever? I have a few theories on why. I mean good ol'Dad just watched as Invincible's colleagues were killed off yet he did nothing to intercede and help out. My theory on the matter is that Invincible should maybe have taken his fathers advice literally when he was told that he actually IS invincible for real! That would mean that as long as Invincible has a single atom that survives in battle, that that atom or cell is capable of regeneration and returning him back to normal. If that is the case for real then that would explain why Dad decided not to get involved, because even if his son loses badly, he will still be ok and thus Dad had no need to get involved. Instead he just decided to let him lose that fight and learn some lessons the hard way. I mean Dad did warn him not to get involved with that criminal in the first place and he was right that he shouldn't have trusted that man so easily since he simply used Invincible for his own ends and evil deeds.

I must admit I never expected this series to turn and twist its plots in so many deceivingly delightful ways. I mean let's look at just how many plots and sub-plots are actually in play at this very moment during the end of episode 5. There are at least 12+ simultaneous plots on the go at this point!

Some of the active plots taking place:
  • The Earthquake villains corpse is located at the satellite in space. You need to look close to see him, but he was obviously there for some reason. Maybe comedic relief, or not!

  • The plot of the Martian squids having been secretly and unknowingly released on Earth by Invincible
  • The plot with Demon Detective going to hell and his quest to solve the murder
  • The secret reason and possible mission for Omni-man killing all 7 heroes
  • The investigation by the government into the 7 heroes murder
  • The secret plot by the government to protect the secret that Omniman killed the 7 heroes and how will they now have to deal with Omniman over it
  • The plot with the Russian wife of one of the 7 heroes knowing that she is being lied to about her husbands death and that no one is doing anything about it. Because of this she is apparently selling all her belongings and home in America to return home to Russia. Does this not seem strange?

  • The plot with Invincibles girlfriend knowing there is a secret reason behind her BF's missing time and wanting to find out what and why
  • The plot with Omnimans wife who found Demon Detectives secret diary on the 7 heroes murders that explains Omniman did it. What is she going to do?

  • The plot with the cloned super villain(s), their secret lab and what kind of nefarious plot he is up to
  • "Robot" the leader of the new 7 who seems to have a secret mission aiding the cloned super villains and helping the escape capture. What is Robot up to?

  • The secret love triangle where 18yr old Pink Shield Girl is in love with Invincible, knowing that he already had a GF, and the fact that she is also ready to leave her broken home

There are just 12 of the sub plots listed above that are all ongoing at once in this anime! Usually with so many plots taking place at once a show would implode due to so many loose ends not being resolved or coming together all at once; however, Invincible seems to be holding its own just fine (so far) . From the sheer number of awesome stories taking place all at once we are guaranteed to see lots of them coming to a head in the next few episodes, which means lots and lots of stories coming to a head very soon! Exciting! Watch this series!

Machine Head and the first big fight of the series
Brettyboy00713 April 2021
Loved episode 5! Machine Head was amazing and so was the return of Titan. Battle Beast being introduced was also a blast! Looks like they'll continue the storyline with Debbie digging into Nolan more. The fight between Machine Head and his thugs vs the new GOTG was outstanding and so violent. Definitely looking forward to episode 6 and hopefully Invincible will get a season 2 renewal soon. I like seeing these changes from the comic with the use of more adult language and bloody violence.

We are provably witnessing something great!
rh_shuvo4679 April 2021
This episode was a banger! From start to finish! So much unpredictability! So much thrill! This show is heading towards right direction and if it continues to do so, it will be one of the classics.

One nitpicking though, the screenplay was too fast paced in this episode, some scenes might get benifit from a little more screen times, so many quick cuts between the scenes! But again, so much happened in this episode, probably that's why it look a *little* messy!!! But this story is solid! Can't wait to see more!

WTF
bradyyoda10 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The ending in this episode is both realistic and shocking as hell. Machine Head's voice is amazing, the reality of time management as superhero was portrayed really well, and the characters are perfect as always. This show is amazing and I love it in every perfect way. This episode was by far the best so far.

I laugh, wonder, and question
khaliid_rahiim11 April 2021
This episode has a great way of telling unexpected but relatable jokes. I initially thought it was individual characters who were funny, but the humour is integrated into the plot dialogue.

The action scenes have me in awe, as they are realistically destructive and violent. I'm also enjoying the development of character relationships, like that of Mark & Amber, and the exploration of character interests, like those of Debbie.

The parallel subplots ask more questions than they answer; as you're focused on the action on-screen, something or someone else intrudes that reminds you that you are in the dark about the bigger picture. This method of storytelling forces the anticipation of what the next episode will ask & answer.

Seriously, the best episode up to date. There's so many factions, so many plots but they all brilliantly intertwined into one neat episode. Oh boy, that scene, it just bloody outstanding pun intended.

Definitely stronger than the previous episode
finn98499 April 2021
This episode had a lot going on, 80% of it was interesting for sure. Only complaint is the romance, which is simply very very very subjective since it's more so the music choice for the romance segments. Other than that, action scenes were top notch 👌

Another Backdoor Pilot?
Gislef21 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I get that the production staff is trying to compare Invincible's "save the world" approach versus the more realistic/"woke" world of Titan and street crime. But... is there some reason they can't both exist. We have Superman and Batman in the comics, or Daredevil and Thor if you prefer.

It doesn't help that we have Machine Head (well-voiced by Jeffrey Donovan), his teleporting sidekick Isotope, and a squad of super-villains representing "realistic" superheroing. They seem just as four-colored as Invincible.

Part of it is that it all adds up to the same thing. Invincible gets the snot beat out of him by what seems to be five relatively minor-league villains. But he's strong enough to take on thugs like Elephant and Doc Seismic. So how powerful is Invincible? Is he Omni-Man/Superman levels, or lower, or what? Are we supposed to be impressed when villains take him down? I guess I can see that Battle Beast is a cosmic bruiser. But the other four? Would they have given Omni-Man as big a challenge? How so, if they can beat Invincible so easily? I don't expect much from the other Guardians. But knowing Invincible's power levels would help here. He can stop an asteroid with some effort, but he can't deal with the likes of Tether Tyrant and Vrusk? Huh.

Part of it seems like most of the episode is a backdoor pilot. Titan now controls the city underworld, thanks to manipulating Invincible to help him take down Machine Head. That sounds like a premise for another TV series.

The other part is the ongoing conflict Mark has juggling his superheroics with his "normal life" issues while dating Amber. None of it seems to go anyway. Maybe this was fresh and new back when the comics came out. But we've seen heroes like Daredevil, Arrow, and Stargirl deal with this kind of thing. Or like Flash and the Legends, ignore it. In the comics, Superman has been juggling his real life and his relationship with Lois for decades. Ditto for Spider-Man and Mary Jane. So it seems kind of old-hat to have Invincible (the show and the character) covering the same ground. Storytelling about superheroes has moved on: see 'Wandavision' for an example. 'Invincible' seems like an old, tired retread by comparison.

For instance, Falcon in 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' is dealing with the five-year Blip, and his family business falling apart because of financial issues, and living up to a legacy. 'Invincible' has Mark dealing with trying to have a girlfriend, and keeping her in the dark about his double life.

We don't get much of the 'Omni-Man massacred a bunch of superheroes" subplot this time around. Mostly it's from Debbie's point of view as her relationship with her husband slowly deteriorates as she learns more about his part in the massacre. The story is still interesting, for those who haven't read the comics. And Sandra Oh deserves an Emmy for her work, as do the animators. In fact, the subplot is probably the most interesting part of the series so far. It just doesn't seem like the production staff has much to say beyond that. "Invincible is a novice superhero, a teenager, and keeps getting in over his head" is about it. Over. And over. And over again.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. What do you think?

wow, what happend to the series on this episode?
ganesti12 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The revies on this episode are only about the action scenes, because, this was amazingly bad. It was a show on how to make a story fuild with Deus Machina after Deus Machina. First the wife finds the clothes that will prove omni is the bad guy inside the house when he can hide that any-f@cking-where in the universe (and he knows how important that proof is, so he gets that and hides in his house???); than the only guy that can actually kill the hole team just leaves because they are not worthy (read "the screenplay needed them alive for the rest of the series"); the guy that can read every possibility knew that Titan and Invincible would appear and invincible's father would not (or he obviusly would be dead) AND a guy that can read every possibility didn't see that he could lose that stupidly... My god, what a bad episode, really. It felt almost like the last two seasons of Game of Thrones, where the screenplay sad f@ck it to everything and did everything it wanted to just because. For the rest: music, the dubbing, animation, this hole series is just amazing. Congratulations still!

Best episode so far
cyrax-9274210 April 2021
It starts easy, slowly bringing you up to the story, the quirks and the humor are there with this sense of dread looming in the background of the episode. Then the action starts and it's absolutely amazing, even beating the battle from the first episode by a mile. The raw emotions of the characters, their pain, their cries and rage all flow masterfully throughout the scenes in question. Then a big twist towards the end of the episode. I'm not even exaggerating when I'm giving this a 10/10, it's worth it. Can't wait to see more!

This show man is a complete banger, everything about it is good, especially the story and the voice acting, so far this is one of the best shows the superhero genre has to offer, heck if it keeps being this good it will surpass the boys.

Not nearly as great as the reviews make it seem
puzgolac1 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know why there are so many reviews with people basically losing their minds because this episode is supposedly so great. It is not. The show is now juggling too many subplots, and a lot of them are just left out to hang. There is a line between being complex and simply having too many things for the viewers to care about them all and this show has crossed that line.

As for the episode, a lot of people seem to adore it because they equate gory with great, and that, of course, is not the same thing. This episode just has lots of gore, but not much good writing.

Amber and the love subplot is extremely annoying and really isn't going anywhere.

Omni man leaving his costume in the house when he could destroy it or hide it literally anywhere in the universe? Absolutely zero sense.

Machine head who seamlessly goes between knowing all possibilities and having absolutely no clue, depending on what the writers need of him. Yeah, great.

Battle beast goes on a rampage destroying the good guys and then, just when he is supposed to finish them off, decides that they are not worthy of killing. Really? That tired cliche?

Also, the ending kind of implies that Isotope was actually working with Titan. But then why did he teleport the bad guys in to make his work harder? Or, if he switched sides after Machine head's loss, that was so fast and so unnatural, especially considering that him and Titan seemed to hate each other. Either way, that part was also poorly written.

Not quite as fantastic of an episode as the audience thinks.
deadlylazurdeathtime30 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Would have given a 7, but Machine Head was such a golden, entertaining character, he added a star all on his own.

Biggest problem is power-levels. Battle-Beast is too powerful of a character to introduce this early on in the long-term story. It throws the whole show out of balance.

Just randomly throw in the most powerful character in the whole show, in the middle of the season, and then have him wander off because he's bored? No thanks.

This is way better than the pilot. I needed this help. I slowly was losing hope from Ep. 3-4 due to those episodes not being as good at the pilot.

Keep it up Amazon. You got a classic here!
