Fantastic first episode.

This show has real potential. The writers deal with important topics, it's a real gem. It doesn't matter what race or sexual orientation the characters are! I'm excited to watch the season and hope it doesn't turn into a total melodrama.

Oh dear - Another Woke Feminist Liberal Show !!

Warning: Spoilers
I had high hopes for this show as the characters seemed pretty entertaining and the actors quite good. However it soon became apparent that it was another of those shows !

So rather than just having a goof female police chief - she is a woman who was formally sexually abused by a previous employer, is a lesbian and was chosen because the previous male police chief slept around with his staff, and several male officers in the department ran a child prostitution ring !

Then the first episode is all about an ICE controversy. You have a LAPD officer falsifying an arrest to protect an illegal immigrant wanted by ICE. The police chief then storms in and takes the child out of the situation and arrests the mother and officer. She then gives the child to her daughter for safe keeping - her daughter happens to be bi-racial and hates her mother for putting her career ahead of her.

All the older men in the show are misogynists and the chief interferes in the case more than any chief would !! It feels very much like a female version of Deputy !!

Why oh why can't they just make a police show that focuses on actual crimes rather than liberal politics ! Or a show about a police chief who acts like a proper chief rather than a gun ho detective !! The writers of these shows have lost the plot and really need to go and review the old school shows to see how it should be done !!

Had Hope For This One

It's the show, Deputy, all over again. Why is there so little effort put into the authenticity of current police shows? There used to be a great show called Southland that had great writing, acting, and stayed pretty realistic - there's a current show called Bosch that stays pretty realistic - so I know there are writers capable of creating authentic police dramas somewhere in Hollywood. In a day and age where everyone has seen the TV show, Cops, don't people expect some realism in cop shows?

Eddie Falco is, of course, great. All of the acting is good, which I expected and why I was looking forward to this. But the writing, the stories and the depiction of cops is so wrong I couldn't enjoy it.

Edie and other actors are great, the PC is stupid

First, ICE would never do an operation like that. PERIOD.

This show shows the entire problem with the immigration issue - some local and state LEOs don't recognize or understand the Constitution which states and has been upheld in court that the federal govt has supremacy in particular with respect to immigration. I would have loved for ICE to have arrested the police officer which would have been lawful as he was interfering with a federal LEO. Just curious, does anyone think how the social worker stood up for the law was wrong? So why would it be wrong for ICE to stand up for federal law - answer it isn't.

I would have preferred if a different immigration scenario would have been presented honestly. The immigration issue is broken, and despite what I said above I wish congress and the president would lock themselves at the capitol until they solve a lot of issues. They are paid a ton so let them work for it.

If I ignore the pc stuff, actually liked the show, but not sure if similar storylines are used if I'll continue to watch it.
