Greetings again from the darkness. Loneliness in middle-age is recognizable regardless of citizenry, gender or geography. Writer-Director Dekel Berenson exposes this on screen as we watch Anna (Svetlana Alekseevna Barandich) slogging through another day at the butcher shop where she works. Anna then trudges home in the snow, stopping only to feed the stray dogs ... unnoticed by the leering young men catcalling other women.

Anna lives with her teenage daughter Alina (Anastasia Vyazovskaya), who has an active social life. A radio advertisement provides a ray of hope in the bleakness of Anna's existence, thanks to an organization that organizes parties so American men can meet Ukranian women. Anna is hopeful that her cooking and cleaning skills are enough to tempt one of these men.

Despite looking older than her 45 years, and having a figure so full it stands out in the lineup of other women at the party, Anna interacts with one redneck Texan over drinks. Her translator (Alina Chornogub) creates a humorous segment for viewers as her translations are, shall we say, a bit off. Anna soon discovers that middle-aged loneliness is tough to overcome, but being a protective mother becomes part of one's soul. The 15 minute film is in competition at this year's Cannes Film Festival, and it is excellent filmmaking.

Dekel Berenson direct with majesty, this middle-age drama, with the sympathy of bringing together a different generations womans with the daily issues of age. He brings us a powerful regard on how society all around the globe are in a constant searching of avoiding loneliness. With a brilliant photography and with interesting use of lines and humor, the story gives us a simple, humane, kind and wonderful story!

I would say the best thing I have seen after a long time. It really won my heart.

Loved it but was left wanting for more. Brilliant story. Will definetly recommend to family and friends.

Dekel Berenson's short film ANNA is perfect in every way! The cinematography, the editing, the writing, the pacing and, of course, the performance from Svetlana Barandich as Anna is phenomenal. Director Dekel Berenson presents an unconventional love story which such subtle heart and character that audiences cannot look away! A brilliant film by an incredibly talented filmmaker - a MUST WATCH!

A story about opportunity for a middle aged lady to change , in profound sense, her life. A promissing announce at radio, a great life , and the hope to make reality a reasonable dream. At the end, the profound frustrations. A film seductive for the high realism dose. And for the beautiful acting of Svetlana Barandich.

My only complaint is I wish it was longer! Well done!
