Ski Patrol (1990)
One Really funny scene
15 December 1998
This movie didn't score well at the Oscars and there's no doubt why. It is a stupid movie but I did laugh at one scene. It's when Murray, a short ski-instructor, who's about 5'4" is given some growth formula from his intructees. They switch the hem on his pants and lower the height line on his wall to make him believe that he's actually growing. One night at a bar Murray decides to go off at how tall he is and that's when the guys really get him. Murray awakes to find that he's too big for his own bed. He bursts through the ceiling of an Elf's Dorm beside a Santa display screaming as the jokers take pictures of him. This ONE scene almost saves the entire movie.

Not for the kids
6 December 1998
If you're looking for wholesome family entertainment I would steer clear of this one. It is relentlessly violent in some scenes. If it weren't for the fact that there is no swearing, this would have probably been given an R rating.

It does have an amazing chase scene through the underground railroad in the temple that lasts for about 7 minutes. Just try and breathe.

A good party movie
5 December 1998
A couple of friends and I had a party not too long ago and I decided to play my 'AOD' DVD. Well, needless to say we had a ball. Of course, anyone who calls himself a friend of mine would have seen this. But this didn't matter because it was like watching it for the first time. On Halloween we have an 'Evil Dead' night and watch all three.

Psycho (1998)

A worthy remake
4 December 1998
Lots of people have been bitching and complaining about this remake and I'll have to admit that I was one of them. I saw the movie and I was very surprised how much I enjoyed it. And then it dawned on me; Psycho was classic because of its story and characters. They're all here and they don't change, well, except for Julianne Moore's unnecessarily bitchy character. I think it was a worthy remake that Hitchcock probably would have gone to see himself. You know why?, because he was an artist and artists always view things with opened minds. I think some people need to open theirs and shut the hell up.

A Holiday Favorite
2 December 1998
For at least the past 10 years I can't remember a single Christmas when my family and I didn't sit down and laugh at this film like it was the first time we'd seen it. The movie's a marvel when it comes to capturing what a child feels like during Christmas.

My favorite scene is one where Ralphie finally confronts the school bully. A scene everyone who's ever been picked on by a bully will applaud.

Poor Jean-Claude
20 November 1998
Ohhh boy.

I saw this on opening night with high hopes. I see most of Van-Damme's movies in the theater because, I'll admit, I like him. After '97s Double Team I left the theater and said "good, he'll never make a movie THAT bad again". I hate it when I'm wrong.

This was terrible. I didn't even laugh at Schneider! who, I think is very funny.

Van-Damme really is a guilty pleasure for me. With Hard Target being at the top of my list and this garbage on the bottom.

Fun, Furious, and very Gory!
8 November 1998
Vampire's is what I would call a "fun" movie. It doesn't take itself seriously and it has fun with its material. I had a good time watching Vampires.

Pretty Dumb
8 November 1998
There's no doubt that The Waterboy will be a hit. It wasn't with me though. It's not that I don't like Sandler. It's just that I found him annoying in Billy Madison and a little annoying in Happy Gilmore. This movie shows Sandlers' truly annoying side.

If you're going to see The Waterboy because of the physical hits don't bother. I didn't see ONE hit in the movie that they didn't show on TV. I would recommend the movie to kids under 12 (Or adults who are waterpeople).

Darkman (1990)

A well-made, darkly funny film
7 November 1998
Sam Raimi's Darkman borrows elements from other films and gives them a new touch. The story of a severely burned scientist is a great exercise in demonstrating alien nation and loneliness. Raimi fans may not like his turn from the horror genre to action/drama but I sure did.
