From Beyond the Grave (1974)
Classic collection of English horror
With The Elemental being the best and The Door coming a close second, From Beyond the Grave is well worth the time, especially if encountered alone late at night. That funny noise upstairs or in the room next door will be that little harder to investigate.
Judge Dredd (1995)
Could have been a whole lot better...
Being a regular reader of 2000AD comix for many years and a fan in particular of Judge Dredd, I waited for this film with some trepidation. Unfortunately my fears were'nt groundless. They lost the whole idea of the socio-political comment that JD was, and went for the over the top action approach instead. Some of the best characters were missing ( The Death Judges ), the ones that they did include were just plain silly ( The Angel Gang ) or just plain wrong ( Fergie was a massive moron that generally went around clubbing people for no real reason. And he had pet flies ). Still, it was good to see the Big Meg in all its glory. One thing though... Dredd never, never,NEVER took his helmet off, even in the bath. Five outa Ten.
Soldier (1998)
Sooooo pointless
A dull long film about so little. Lackluster characters,
contrived story, indifferent plot. Played out like an uninspired
Saturday cartoon. Four out of Ten
