House of Darkness (2022)
Unnerving and uncomfortable, yet very compelling
Went into this cold and was glad I did as I enjoyed it a lot. Justin Long really nailed the part of just enough of an unlikable and awkward guy. Kate Bosworth oozed sex appeal and mystery with every breath. And Gia Crovatin was a revelation, mesmerizing in every look and every word she utters. Normally I'd want my horror spread throughout the movie, but was OK with how it played out here, as I found the women so compelling, and wondered what uncomfortable thing Justin would say next. And he certainly came through over and over. A very pleasant and welcome surprise, though I know of the writer/director's previous works. I am looking forward to seeing Gia in more things.
Emmanuelle in Space (1994)
Krista Allen=Awesome!!!
This is one of the most amazing series ever put to film. Specifically.....Krista Allen. She is unbelievably beautiful, and seeing her in all her glory is truly a treat! She's a pretty good actress, too, especially considering that this is one of her first roles. The episodes that feature other actresses in action, rather than Krista, of course, aren't as interesting. But those with Krista are awesome! Again, she is too beautiful for words....you have to see her for yourself. The plot, as if that matters, is kinda cool, with Krista's character, teaching aliens the ways of earthly love. See it if you can.
The Thing (1982)
THE Ultimate "Thing" in Horror
John Carpenter's The Thing is the best horror film ever made. It's what true horror is all about....fear of the unknown, not being able to trust those around you and the struggle just to stay alive. The effects by Rob Bottin are unequaled to this day. There are a number of classic scenes & lines, essential ingredients to a great film, with the blood-testing scene the most suspenseful scene in film history. Kurt Russell is stand-out, as is the rest of the cast, totally believable in such incredible situations. John Carpenter's version totally blows away Hawk's original, as this is based on the actual original story. Like a great X-Files episode, this film poses as many questions as it answers....it truly is the "ultimate in horror"
