What people do for the wrong reasons...
30 June 2002
This is a true story on the life of Tai Babilonia the ice skater. As a career where you have worked and worked from such a young age to get to be the best (which doesn't last for long) you would think it would be something a person would love to do? Well according to this story she actually did it for everyone else but herself, not that it started out that way. It shows that it doesn't matter what we start out in life thinking it's what we want and we try our best to reach that goal it can turn out to be the very last thing we wanted. It also shows that a person can be completely out of control and everyone around them will not notice that anything is wrong.

RE: Gentle

This is a gentle romantic and sad story about a man who gets a job as a postman and has to deliver letters to his only client on an Italy island who happens to be a poet from Chile who is in exile. It takes awhile for them to start up friendship but when they do the poet helps to see poetry on the beautiful island and helps him to speak to the girl of his dreams.

The Adventure Game (1980–1986)
A Brilliant Children's Programme
2 February 2002
For years I could never remember the name of the show but I always could remember what happened. This was like a very early Crystal Maze where you had to work problems/puzzles out in order to win the crystals. At the end before you were allowed to leave you had to walk along a space type maze and avoid a white beam of electricity to get home.

Play School (1964–1988)
Before School
2 February 2002
For many children my age before you went to school you got to learn some of the basics from Playschool. Watching with your Mother/Father you got to learn about imagination, stories, playing, colours, numbers etc. It was a sad day when this show was cancelled because it was like cancelling your childhood.

Early Computers
2 February 2002
This was a children's programme where a man and a woman worked with a computer which would produce objects and there would be stories and using your imagination. This of course was in the early days of computers so therefore it was the size of your living room nowadays you would be able to carry the computer with you.

What about Razzle?
2 February 2002
This is a children's programme where a little boy called Jonny lives at home with his mum, dad, sister and brother and his dog called Razzle. His best friend in school is a girl and his enemy is a pair of twin sisters who are always mean to him and try to get him into trouble with his teacher. Things are sometimes not much better at home when one member of the family is not happy with the other.

A HUGE Must!
30 January 2002
If you only saw one film of the year 2001 it had to be Amelie. It is a wonderful story from start to finish and there is only one thing that makes it more perfect is that it is French and set in Paris. A little girl grows up not having basic attention from fellow human beings which makes it hard for her to build relationships on any level. One day when she finds something that had been hidden many years ago she follows it through until she can return it to the rightful owner which then sets her on a path of sorting out other peoples lives and the injustice she sees all around her but still there is something missing from her life. Love.

Awful 80's Show!!!
29 November 2001
This was a show that you could win prizes but only if you could work out the riddles. If you picked the right one you won the prize but if you picked the wrong one you won a dustbin or as on the show Dusty Bin. The person who was the host was a man who's claim to fame was doing three, two, one with his fingers very fast and a catch phrase of 'Don't go away now.'

Spooky!
24 November 2001
If you love The Sixth Sense and are not picky on the fact there might be one or two things that can be connected between the two film you will fall in love with this. I have fallen in love with this and predict great things for the children who play Anne and Nicholas as they acted their socks off and were so believable. This film has a cast that are English, Irish, Australian and Spanish. I recommend everyone to see this film if they like to be spooked along the lines of The Blair Witch by not seeing somethings and seeing things that turn out not to be quite right.

If only you could be a twin!
29 July 2001
Some might call this made for television movie corny or boring but I really enjoyed it! I first saw this in 1985 and again about a year ago and to me it was still the same. The story is one of the twins is married with two children a boy and a girl and is really mousey and bored of her life. Her twin is the total opposite she is the life and soul of the party has many lovers and her own business but she to is not happy. So they meet in Venice for a big birthday party and decide to swap lives for a short time and you guessed it they are not able to swap back at the given time so they have to be each other for a little bit longer. I don't want to give away the plot but if you have nothing to do and this is on television one night give it ago!

Nice and Sweet!!
9 April 2001
Wonderful!!! This is a film that has many types of love, love between a man and a woman, love for your family and love for chocolate so what more can you ask for? Nothing. You are whisked into a frenzy of a story of a stranger and her daughter who arrives in a small town as the stranger in one way or another through the forbidden (as it is Lent) chocolate she manages to whip up helps or annoys the locals. You could not ask for a better cast to bring this story to life it is heaven sent as are all those chocolates and hot chocolate that she sells. A must to go and see in the cinema or just for a romantic Saturday night in with of course a large box of chocolates!!

The Audrey Hepburn Story (2000 TV Movie)

Nauseating & Dire
4 April 2001
I have not watched this movie and I am never likely to so how come I want to say a few words? The reason is this from the moment I read that that thing had been cast to play Audrey Hepburn I was sickened. Audrey was a tall and willowy creature that had all the vulnerability of a child. That is a midget with a hard cruel sucking a lemon face. I have had the misfortunes to catch a glimpse when I have turned over channels and found it on and everyone else in it well what can I say? Who or what used their only brain cell and cast it to represent a legend? The casting director should be sent forth from all production for the rest of their miserable life into the wilderness.

Family Fortunes (1980–2023)
But only if you don't have a family of idiots!!
7 January 2001
The questions that are asked on the show have been asked to 100 people. Then they take the highest 10 which two families have to guess. First they take a member of each team and ask them a question like 'What is the first thing you do when you get out of bed in the morning?'. They both go for the buzzer and whoever gets an answer or the highest answer on the board has a choice to play or pass. Whoever plays has to guess the other 9 answers. The family that wins the most money chooses two members one of whom goes and sits in a box with headphones on. The first member is asked a few questions which they give their answers to and then the second member comes on and is asked the same questions that they have to give different answers to. If they have the highest percent from the answers they win the big prize.

Only for people with square eyes!!
7 January 2001
You have two teams of four people that are made up of friends or families that are asked questions about television programmes. If you win you have to come back to the next round until one team finally wins. A friend of mine was on the first series of this and got all the way to the final!!

Children's Television on a Shoestring!!
28 December 2000
This programme gave children from all over Britain the chance to be on television. They would have children doing various things from hosting the show to cooking unfortunately things never went to plan. In fact one of my best friends hosted one but he won't let me see the videotape!!!

People doing things they really shouldn't!!
28 December 2000
You take one male and one female either related or by marriage but one has to be a generation older than the other. So they have two couples doing stupid things like dancing and they bring another two couples in to do stupid things. They get judged and two couples leave and the last two couples do a sketch and one couple win. The winning couple then go on to memorise toys and appliances and what they remember they take home.

If this is the NHS?
28 December 2000
Take a few Doctors, a few more haggard Nurses, People doing stupid things and bucket and buckets of blood and you have the recipe of a Hospital drama that will run for years and years. They even have time to show briefly what the Doctors and Nurses get up to when they are not up to their armpits in body parts. You can usually guess who is not going to have their heart restarted. It is an E.R. on a shoestring and more dirt.

Amazing car chase!
15 October 2000
First the bad point...Sean Bean why on earth did you take this part?! That character is the most pointless person in the history of films. The rest of the film was excellent. The car chase through parts of the City of Paris was gasping from start to finish. The excellent work of the whole stunt crew and the way the cameras were angled made to the whole effect. This film is the type of film that you could watch over and over again but only after Sean Bean's character has left!

To Women Everywhere!
14 October 2000
Forget Paradise Road! If you really want to have any idea what the women who were prisoners of war of the Japanese this is the series to watch. At times the make up department are so realistic that you do not know these sores are not part of the women. What the men and women went through in these camps is nothing short of Hell. If the fact of malnutrition and hard work didn't kill you the malaria would! Congratulations to everyone who worked on this production because unlike Paradise Road they actually did their homework to make this as real as possible!

Real Life!
14 October 2000
This film is in the same league as the series Tenko for it's realism. I have also watched the mini series which could have it's moments too but the film wins because of the fact that it was made around a decade after it had happened, when things must have been quite fresh in everyones minds. These women were taken captive as the men were but they were not wanted by anyone. These women were far away from home with no clothes apart from what they stood up in, no money and they didn't speak the language. Given those fact the thoughts are so scary!

When the Honeymoon is over!
20 September 2000
This is one of the greatest movies of the 20th Century, it's up there with Breakfast at Tiffany's! Two people get married and everything is wonderful and there is nobody else but those two people. Then they move into a cramped supposed to be one bedroom apartment on the fifth floor in a very old place that has no lift (how the place got furnished was never explained). As they live together they realise that they know nothing about each other as he is a safe boring person and she's a live for the moment and try everything once kind of girl. In the end the thing that brought them together keeps them together.

John Wayne without a horse
20 September 2000
This is my favourite John Wayne film and I think it's his best. Both him and Maureen O'Hara sizzle as they struggle to be together. I have to say I love Maureen O'Hara's red hair in this film! The only downside sometimes is apart of the scenes shot in the studio with the painted backdrop is that some of the Irish cast are not audible! This film could never be made now because of it's sexual discrimination towards women and condoning that you could beat your wife!

Every womans dream!
16 September 2000
I as one would love the power of being a witch and also think that is the same for every woman. I thought both Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman were very convincing as sisters as there was such a closeness between the two of them. It was a nice brake to see Sandra Bullock not playing herself and also Nicole Kidman came across well. Aiden Quinn is gorgeous as always. The only downside I thought was it was not powerful enough and they never actually went through all the things Sally wished for in her dream man when Gary was on the scene.

There will never be a couple like this ever again!!
6 September 2000
Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard were two of the beautiful of their time. In Breakfast at Tiffany's they blend as a couple perfectly even though circumstances are trying to keep them apart. What ever she wore or didn't wear in the film Audrey was simply beautiful as Holly Golightly. George was absolutely gorgeous and quite moody looking which was perfect for this part. The only thing I felt sorry for was Cat.

Old People
22 August 2000
This is a very gentle story that follows its own path rather than being scripted. Even though the actors are getting on in years they still have that magic spark that captures your imagination. Bette Davis and Vincent Price are the two actors that do that but it really is Lillian Gish that steels the show and it doesn't matter that none of them are still with us as this timeless classic will keep them close to hand.
