Faulty memory
4 October 2021
My recollection from several years back was that Meloni was a good actor and Stabler was a good cop.

I was wrong on both counts.

This show stinks, Stabler stinks, and Meloni stinks. And what's worse, they keep injecting him into regular episodes of SVU (which otherwise remains an excellent show), so I can't seem to escape him.

Shark
25 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This may be the "jumped the shark" episode for SVU. Two excellent characters/actors out, apparently to be replaced by two jerks. Plus, when combined with the "second" episode (immediately following), an absolutely nonsensical plot. My days of watching may be coming to an end.

Absolutely idiotic.

Warning: Spoilers
It is ludicrous to portray the U.S. Attorney General, not only at the site of, but actually commanding an operation in the field. And especially more so since it's a relatively minor operation against a fringe militia. I realize this show is fiction, but it should maintain a shred of credibility.

A very mixed message

Watch seasons one and two.

Avoid seasons three and four like the plague.

Don't waste your time

This is simply the worst TV show imaginable.

Contrary to several of the reviews here, none of the principal actors are "comedy legends". The two older ones had minor roles in forgettable films. The younger two have no track record at all.

The actor playing the father is wooden and unfunny. The mother is grotesque. The son is an insult to all gay people, and only has a part because of the father. The daughter thinks acting is making faces which are unrelated to her emotions.

I seriously overrated the show by giving it one star, but I had no choice. There really should be an option for zero stars ... and even that would be generous.

NYPD Blue: Danny Boy (1998)
Season 6, Episode 6

The start of a low period.
21 July 2019
This episode marks the beginning of the period when the show stopped (mostly) being great for a while. It is because of the introduction of the character Danny Sorenson, as a woefully inadequate replacement for Bobby Simone. Danny is a lousy cop and a total jerk, and "Little Ricky" Schroder is a simply horrible actor.

Fortunately, his tenure will not be all that long, and he will be gadually replaced by excellent people (as Characters and actors). So be patient for a couple of seasons.

Terrible everything !!
3 October 2017
The previous two reviews were too kind to the program. There is nothing good to be said about it. But I do agree that the obsession with Kyra Sedgwick is a particularly annoying feature (as is she). Another was the switching to scenes from the TV show that is being produced, with very little clarity that the change is happening. I'm not so patient, so it is off my list completely. I simply cannot imagine any change to the program that would make it tolerable.

Very bad

A couple of other comments on this film have mentioned that the photography is rather poor. I actually found this to be one of the film's assets, because it helped to mask the stupidity of the film's visual activity. Now, if they only could have also muted the sound ...

I gave it a 2, and that was being generous.

Horrible
28 March 2002
This is a genuinely horrible film. The plot (such as it is) is totally undecipherable. (I think it has something to do with blackmail, but I'm not entirely certain.)

Half of the dialogue consists of useless cliches. The other half is spoken by the various actors in such unintelligible imitations of "southern" accents that (thankfully) the words cannot be recognized.

But the one true tragedy of the movie is that such a historic talent as Mary Tyler Moore apparently was in such dire financial or personal circumstances that she appeared in it.

It is impossible to imagine a more terrible movie
18 August 2001
The Guidelines state that a comment must contain a minimum of four lines. That is the only reason I am saying anything more about Tomcats. Because after all, my one line summary really says everything there is to say. There is absolutely NOTHING remotely entertaining in this film.

Shampoo (1975)

A completely boring, tedious, unfunny and unsexy movie.
30 August 2000
I rented this film and watched for the first time over the past three days. It took me that long simply because there is a limit to how much boredom I'm willing to endure at one sitting.

My first reaction after finishing was that the movie has no point at all. But on reflection, I've decided it has one (although feeble) ... namely, that Warren Beatty can appear to bed a large number of women, so long as he writes the script!

It is dumbfounding to me that this film is described as a comedy, and even more stupifying that it was included on the AFI 100 Funniest list. I genuinely did not laugh a single time during my (3 day) ordeal.

It is also amazing that I have seen the movie described as sexy. Nothing could be further from the truth. The "sex" portrayed is so mechanical that it's the opposite of a turn on.

I gave the film a "1" rating. Only because I didn't find "0" to be available.
