Highlander (1986)
Well worth seeing
Connor MacLeod was born in 1518 in the Scottish Highlands. He goes into his first battle in 1536 and is fatally wounded. When he recovers miraculously from his deathbed he is banished from his village, his kinsmen believe he is in liege with Lucifer.
After 5 years in exile he meets Ramirez, who explains to Connor that he is immortal, part of a group of immortals that in the future will meet in a distant land and fight for the Prize.
1986, over 450 years after his birth, it is time for `The Gathering'. Connor, now using the name Russell Nash, has to avoid the police and at the same time avoid getting his head chopped off, the only way for one of the immortals to actually die. It is time for the last of the immortals to meet. Connor sees his old enemy Kurgan that dealt his first blow on the battlefield in 1536 as one of those in the way of the final end, shall he survive this time as well?
There Can Be Only One
For me and many other Swedes born in the seventies, this an important film, one of the best action films available during our childhood.
Unfortunately Highlander, like so many successes, has had a number of sequels of varying quality. Especially Highlander II The Quickening, should be avoided.
The film takes place part in `present time' (1986) and part in history, the sixteenth century, the eighteenth century and in nazi-Germany.
It is well worth seeing and one of `my generation's' classic films.
The Mangler 2 (2002)
Not as bad as I've been told
When I saw Mangler 2 at place 3 of the imdb worst films ever, I realized that I had to see it! When reading user comments I felt it even more, no film made not long ago could be that bad! And I was right. It was not that bad at all, I've seen plenty horror movies that are way worse than this and several films in other genres that are way worse. I wouldn't call it a sequel to Stephen King's "The Kangler", since they are not related in any way (as far as I noted) other that both are written by the same author. I would have liked them to show more of the "action" when it came to the killings though, seemed to be a kids type of horror movie, no details when it comes to blood and gore. Or maybe I just had a censored version?
Anyways, to sum it up, if one like horror movies, it's worth watching.
I give it 4/10.
Hellraiser: Inferno (2000)
Why is it called Hellraiser?
This is not really a bad movie, but I fail to see why it should be called Hellraiser? Sure, Pinhead does make an appearance in the film, for like 3 minutes...
And the box is there, but I don't see this as a Hellraiser movie, although that put aside, the movie itself is quite ok.
The Exorcist (1973)
Just saw the Director's Cut version
I just came back from seeing the Director's Cut version of The Exorcist. What can I say, it's magnificent! I've never seen it on a movie theater before, just on video. I was a bit too young when it was running the last time... I love the original movie, but dare I say that this version is even better. It might just be that I've just now seen the new scenes in the film, and not just in short versions on a documentary, or that the sound just blew me away. But it is great!
