Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
One of the worst climaxes I have ever seen. Rest of the movie is great.
Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood is an interesting movie.
Leonardo DiCaprio of course does a magnificent job, as always. Brad Pitt is also really good in this film. I don't remember a single bad, not even mediocre performance. As far as the acting goes, no problem here.
Cinematography is great, the dialogue is fantastic. The comedy in this movie is really funny. The tone of the movie is light-hearted and you don't take this movie too seriously. The movie is never boring either. There's not too much violence, even though there's tension, maybe not in the traditional Tarantino way.
Which brings me to the worst part about this movie, the climax. It stuck out so much from the rest of the movie. It was really hard to take the scene seriously, or as a funny moment, when there's a woman screaming at the top of her lungs, a dog biting somebody's nuts off, People being hit against walls, blood everywhere, etc. I was left with such a bad taste in my mouth after the movie. I didn't remember almost any of the prior scenes before I looked them up.
A great comedy with great characters, great dialogue, really good on a technical level. The climax was just exceptionally bad.
UglyDolls (2019)
Worst thing in the history of anything.
This movie is so, so bad, that i don't even know where to begin.
This movie is a musical. You can clearly see it, since they break into singing at least every 5 seconds. The songs are also really bad, not catchy and really irritating to listen to.
The protagonist's motivation is solid, but it isn't really convincing. In Uglyville (terrible name) they have everything. A nice house, nice neighborhood, good food and so on. Still, she wants to go to the "real world." The antagonist, Lou, has no motivation. I can't think of a single reason as to why he's a villain. Also, the plot twist relating to him at the end was pointless. It brought nothing, it didn't solve any problems, it was there for the sake of having a plot twist. Some of the characters were also pointless.
The character design is atrocious. They don't reflect their personality at all. Also, the dolls aren't even ugly, which is the whole point of their appearance. Once they are supposed to look "pretty", they look even uglier than before.
The dialogue is horrible, the characters are annoying, the tone changes all the time. Sometimes the humor is absurdist, where nothing makes sense (not funny). Sometimes the humor is "normal", I guess (not funny). Sometimes the movie has a serious tone, which doesn't work, since I don't care about the characters. The mood is also ruined by a bad joke or one-liner.
Sometimes the movie just brought's something up when it's convenient. Like when the protagonist gets kidnapped, a random toaster appears out of nowhere to explain the situation to her friend. When the portal to greatness gets destroyed, all of the characters simply put the glass peaces together, even though they don't know, if it will fix anything. Spoiler, it does.
All and all, nothing makes any sense, everything about this movie is wrong. Just don't watch it.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
One of my favorite movies ever
This movie is absolutely incredible. Even though it's three hours long, it feels like two. The Russo brothers really did an amazing job. The dialogue is great and well delivered, and the acting is magnificent. I wasn't left confused at any point, and the audience received just the right amount of information. Because of this, I was nervous throughout the film, and thus, I was never bored.
Needless to say, this movie is incredible and worth every penny. Go see it, now.
