The Guilty (2021)
On the edge of my seat for a pretty fun movie!
Okay let me start off by saying I have never watched the original movie, so I have nothing to compare it too. It might be a lot worse compared with that one but I have nothing to judge that on so Im gonna review without the other movie in my mind.
Jake Gyllenhaal is slowly turning into one of my current favourite actors and this movie showed his abilities again. It was literally a one man show! He played a very troubled character called Joe Baylor who is working a night shift at a 911 call center. After a couple of minutes of showing what is job entails and how current events might make it hard for him to do his job, we go straight into the suspense with a distressing phone call. After that its just stressful scene after stressful scene while in the meanwhile, underlaying plots develop as well slowly giving you an image of who this man truly is.
Now that also brings me a problem: What is the message of this movie? I wont go into spoilers but at the end it makes you wonder what the point of it really was. And Im struggling to find that point.
But that doesnt take away that this movie did a very good job of entertaining me! The suspense was really good and I dont think I looked at the time once! Its a perfect run time and doesnt feel too dragged out at all.
Herefore I would give this movie a 6.9/10.
The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)
Feel good movie
Will Smith with a special perfomance, makes this already good movie an absolute brilliant one. He fits the role of a father working his ass of for his son and a home so well. Especially at the end he delivers a marvelous performance which was very beautiful and satisfying.
He portrays a good man who wants to give his all to keep his family together. Something a lot of people will be able to relate to only in his circumstances money is a very big problem. This is a beautifull story about how desperate and scary it must be for a father to come by in times like that.
This movie was very well done with a beautiful message: Never give up on your dreams and never stop fighting for it.
I'd give this movie a 7.7/10.
Green Book (2018)
Just an incredible movie!
This movie was very very good. It was shot amazingly and the directing was superb. The acting was top notch, especially from the 2 main leading characters. Its a really great movie to just sit back and relax to and watch how a charismatic Italian and a reserved black men find a way to grow attached to one another. It was a great movie but maybe just a bit too stretched out!
I would give this movie a 7.6/10.
Justin Timberlake shows some great acting abilities.
This is a very underrated movie. I didnt expect much going in thinking I wouldnt like the fact that Justin Timberlake was the main lead. But wow, he change my mind !
He shows in this movie that he is a very good actor even while playing somebody who is almost the complete opposite of what he is like in real life.
This movie is well directed and looked great all around. The acting is superb even from the little kid who had a tough job acting like a "girly" boy. The relationship between Palmer and the boy is what made this movie great. The character development from Palmer is incredibly well done and with good back stories. He is not the most sympathetic guy at first but during the movie you will find yourself rooting for him.
I give this movie a solig 6.9/10.
The Equalizer 2 (2018)
More of the same
The Equalizer 2 was a good movie. There was some nice action, good acting and the 2 hours didnt really feel that long. But It was nothing new either.... Its like we have seen before in the first movie with Denzel Washington portraying a good guy being an absolute bad ass. Nothing changes in this movie and it just felt as more of the same.
