Strange plots and dull
17 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Really don't understand the stellar ratings. Korean detective series must be generally horrible to award this 10 stars out of 10.

I've struggled all the way through season 1, barely being able to keep awake. At the end, it got a bit better, so I also started season 2. But I have given up on it after the first episode. For some reason the plot is about starting a huge murder and corruption investigation because one couple cut one of the hundreds of meters of rope with danger signs near a beach, where 2 drunk men were later found to have drowned after jumping into the sea with all their clothes on. Which is pretty strange as the drowned men must have driven past hundreds of meters of these ropes with danger signs before entering the beach. It was not sure where they entered, they could have easily slipt underneath the ropes. And for some reason the vandalists (the one's who cut some part of the rope) are now investigated for murder.

One of the best series I've seen in a long time

So I have to admit, I'm kinda new to Kdrama, but if this show is representative of the genre, consider me hooked. This show excels at conveying strong emotions in understated ways, making the show feel intimate and sincere, and it never gets cheesy (like so many Hollywood productions). The fantasy aspect is lovely and functional rather than spectacular. The storytelling takes it time, which I like. The storyline is leading in the length of the episode, so nothing feels rushed. But I can imagine that some people feel the pace of this series is slow, but I never felt that way. I highly recommend it!

Ehhh... wasn't the story supposed to be about the crimes of Grindelwald??

So, let me just say I ama HUGE Harry Potter fan. I still reread the books several times a week. I kinda liked the previous one in the Fantastic Beasts series. But this one... where to begin? The plot, if there is one to speak of, certainly does not match the title. Although imagery is beautiful, there is not much to the story. It's just one special effect after the other. For more than two hours. I have just finished watching the movie and really can't tell you what has actually happened. And I have a PhD, so my mind is certainly not the problem. Waste of time, even for Potterheads.

Lovely

Such a lovely documentary. Didn't know anything about it. Feliks has the sweetest soul. Max's parents have done a wonderful job in supporting and encouraging their son, they seem lovely. And Max, such a brave warrior for navigating this confusing world. Heartwarming.

Disappointing

The choices either lead to a do-over or are irrelevant to the storyline (nothing changes). Moreover, although I really enjoyed the series, the movie itself is not that funny at all. Not a single chuckle.

Not worth your time
2 July 2020
Only if you are reeeeaaaaalllyyyy bored (like I am now) and even then it's hardly worth the watch. A bunch of people go missing, and they don't know or can't prove who did it. Lots of crying by loved ones. They pretend to make the series to get new clues, but it's just about the suspense (which is mostly created by the music, not the events themselves) and the exploitation of the emotions of those left behind.

a good binge

So this is a comedy and it has some funny moments, but not in a memorable way. I can appreciate the attempt to make it a culturally diverse show, as there are still to few of those around. But it is mostly just a teenage high school coming of age kind of thing. With the geeks and the cool kids. Dating and strenuous relationships with parents. Not brilliant but pleasant to bingewatch.
