Moonage Daydream (2022)
Could someone do a good documentary please?
Too much stuff that seemed unrelated to David Bowie, probably for "artistic " purposes. Yes we all know David Bowie was a creative person without someone pushing it down our throats. Much of the movie had what seemed to be filler to take up time. I would like to know about his life not just bits and pieces. He was a beautiful, talented human being but what was his process? I saw some of that but I wanted more. What were the highs and the lows? His inspirations? I read one of his biographies and it was much better. Hopefully we will see a film about him someday similar to Rocketman. I gave this a 2 for the music and concert scenes. Otherwise it was rather boring.
The Pale Blue Eye (2022)
Macabre Twusty Mystery
I love a mystery that has a twist. Something different from what's usually available. Such a brilliant cast. Great actors and impeccable casting. Bale was in top form and Gillian Anderson! She has been killing it the last few times I've seen her. I also really enjoyed seeing Robert Duvall.
Could I possibly hope there will be a sequel? It was so Gothic and everything looks so cold and realistic. I love a period piece.
Melling was perfect as Poe, who never really fit in. 'His interpretation was just the way I would imagine him to be when he was young. His life was so full of tragedy. No, it's not full of jump scares or gore. Just a compelling tale.
What We Do in the Shadows (2019)
Funny and Fun
Love this show. I love it that I laugh out loud every episode. So many cool cameos! You need to watch it twice to catch all the jokes and pop culture references. FX is way ahead of the competition with it's unusual and original series. I only wish each episode was longer!
The Show of Shows (1929)
Glad I could fast forward
Bad dancing, jokes, and performances. The way the emcee handles the puppy is despicable.
Against All Odds (1984)
80's Lifestyle Personified
I love this movie! Jeff Bridges is super sexy and the sex scenes are hot. Rachael Ward is naturally gorgeous and appears to be wearing little to no make up. Something you don't see these days! James Wood is sexy in his own way. The beautiful scenery and race care scene are worth a watch on their own. The club scene with Kid Creole is so 80's. Swoozie Kurtz is great too. I love it that she hangs out at "The Gingerman" club. Seems like the kind of place I would have gone to at the time. If you like that time period you gotta see it.
8 Million Ways to Die (1986)
Feels Like LA
I love this movie, kinda hate the title. This movie captures the atmosphere of LA. In the 80's. Jeff Bridges plays a memorable alcoholic and you really feel his pain as he tries to quit drinking. I love Andy Garcia in this movie. He is so intense. I was constantly waiting in a state of dread for him to go off the rails. I think you see some great acting chops in this movie so give it a try.
Schitt$ Creek (2015)
So funny!
I laugh out loud every show! I'm watching for the 2nd time. Great actors, great escapism.
Hunters (2020)
Very Twisted
Loved it. It had shades of Tarentino at times. Many good examples of the horrors of the Nazis. The ending was shocking with several cliffhangers. Can't wait for next season.
Once Around (1991)
Family, family, family
Obviously I love this movie because of the joy and ... the difficulties of this family. Like all families, there are problems but with love you can overcome them. I have had family members who were ill and did not want to do what the dr. ordered. You can try to get them to but ultimately, it is their decision. Please disregard the negatives and see it, especially if you come from or have a large family.
Cats (2019)
Cats but not Cats
This movie was a bit different than the play. They have added characters and other surroundings. I enjoyed it because of the wonderful dancing. Jennifer Hudson's performance was worth the price of admission alone.
Yes it is odd but the play was odd. You're looking at people acting like cats so what do you expect. If you saw the play and enjoyed it or if you love good music and dancing disregard what people or the critics are saying and go see it!
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
What was and could have been
This is a movie of what we wish had happened, not the reality. Loved all the old Hollywood scenery. If you are a film buff or a fan of old tv shows you will love it! The attention to detail is impeccable. My son loved it, too. Tarrentino honors so many actors that were great but you don't see today by giving them parts. Brad Pitt was incredible, terribly understated as an actor. I believe there was even an homage to another Tarrentino film, Iinglorious Bastards. Terrific film.
Mother! (2017)
Hilarious
If you want to spend two hours laughing your ass off, watch this movie. Plenty of overacting and misogyny to go around. This woman is stuck in a fifties time warp and if her husband said "gimme a minute" once he said it a million times. She really wanted to give her heart to the ahole that killed her baby? Not in my world. Save yourself the trouble, watch "Rosemary's Baby", and see how a good psychological horror movie is made.
