Gisaengchung (2019)
This Movie is Not Overrated
This movie deserves every bit of attention it has got. Parasite is a surreal experience of luxury, scheming, and deception. I can not wait to see what Bong Joon-Ho has for us next.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018)
A Collection of Hits and Misses
In a collection of six different, the Coen Brothers bring you on a journey through different aspects of the wild west.
Ballad of Buster Scruggs is a strong start to the film. Tim Blake Nelson brings an Oscar nominated song to a fairly ridiculous collapse of a infamous showdown cowboy. 8/10
Near Algodones changes to the atmosphere from a comical showdown to a suspenseful robbery and bloody interactions with the natives. 5/10
Meal Ticket. This one definitely takes the cake for its oddity. A story of a quadriplegic showman who is carried thoughout the west by Liam Nissen performing shows. 9/10
All Gold Canyons. Probably my favorite of the films. This film shows the lawless west mixed with the hope of the new world. The riches go to those who take advantage of others. 10/10
The Gal who Got Rattled. The film really slows down during this part of the film. I compare it to a shorter version of Meeks Cutoff. it is definetely a crucial piece of Western life. 6/10
The Mortal Remains. A decent closer to the film. Somehow the Coen Brothers still manage to leave us a tiny cliffhanger and leave the glory of the Wild West to us to decipher. 6/10
Blade Runner (1982)
A Complete Package
There is not much that this movie doesn't do well, in fact nothing that i can name at this time about this movie would be negative. From the smog filled atmosphere the movie places you in to the eerie music, you can't be so sure what you're getting yourself into. Blade Runner is a an experience that fits together in a wonderful chaotic melody. Leaving you to questions your sanity and the future of mankind.
Bone Tomahawk (2015)
You should fear Bone Tomahawk.
Bone Tomahawk is a surreal look at western life. Just when you thought the times of the Great Frontier couldn't get any wilder. A small town sheriff is encountered by a mysterious tribe of natives.
Despite being a bit of a slow burner, Bone Tomahawk keeps you on the edge of you seat, especially once you get a look a the grotesque cannibalistic natives. You wont leave your seat.
Enemy Mine (1985)
Nostalgia is Not Needed to Enjoy this Film.
While nostalgia can be the main reason for most people to enjoy this slightly cheesy 80's sci fi film. Having just watched this for the first time today, i can assure you there are many more reasons to enjoy the film. While it has a few crucial errors keeping it from being great, the interesting costume design, odd alien interactions and visually engaging set design. Enemy Mine is still very much enjoyable to this day.
