2046 (2004)
Poetic Masterpiece, one of the few great Films this century
"I also Like the story to have a happy ending
But I don't know how to write it.
Some years back I had a happy ending in my grasp.
But I Let it slip away."
We return to our protagonist from In the mood for love: but Mr. Chow has changed.
He's no longer the insecure yet kind neighbor he once was. Now he's quite the opposite, an arrogant asshole who rejects the feelings he has by sleeping with women, even trying to replace Su Li-Zhen. But his repressed emotions scratch the surface when he begins to write a book for his Neighbor who is painfully in love with a Japanese man.
Funnily when he's speaking he speaks Japanese the whole time but everyone seems to understand him perfectly.
Shigeru Umebayashi's score painfully captures the wild mix of feelings in 2046.
The Film might feel a bit overwhelming at first and it can be difficult to follow everything or at least make sense out of it. But after more viewings, it becomes clear what WKW aimed for.
He himself was obsessed with it.
The Film was finished three hours before its delayed premiere at Cannes.
Wong may never finish it if it wasn't for the deadline.
WKW successfully expresses a layered and suffering human being who ignorant as he is, only brings suffering and disappointment for the persons around him.
Rick and Morty: Childrick of Mort (2020)
Dune?
Many Dune references
Wished it was more philosophical like the episode before.
The God thing is a bit cringe in my opinion
