The Black Phone (2021)
Could have been soo much better
What a letdown at the end...but my big question....how did his brother not know about the crimes when his brother Ethan is sitting in the kitchen with a mask on waiting to abuse a kid with a belt? He was such a great detective too trying to figure out the crime, lol..that premise was stupid.
Also, the whole science fiction of the phone and the ghosts and all of that was never explained and sort of stupid. Was it a game? Were they alive? Did the killer know the phone was doing that? So many questions left unanswered.
A creepy van, a creepy clown with a mask kidnapping all the kids from the same school one right after the other....and not a single eyewitness or curious eye.
Keep Breathing (2022)
Decent, but far fetched
It's early fall in the northwest territories and she basically wore a tank top the whole time and swam in 50 degree water, held her breath forever and wow, she never seemed to be cold....it was like surviving in San Diego weather. Also, she falls thru a hole and a 500 lb stone is in top of her legs?? If so, they'd be crushed and she'd die in that spot. Wow she is practically wonder woman! Not to mention the rambo 200 foot fall thru the trees and wow just a sprained ankle!!!
Anyways it did keep me wondering and watching to see what was going to happen, but man, the hallucinations and flashbacks were so overdone. I thought her boyfriend was actually more likeable than she was and had good lines in the show.
How did she end up with those postcards at the end? The hallucination of her dad gave them to her and then she had them for real down the river?? There's no way she had them after the cave and the fall??
It was short so it wasn't that bad to get through. Could have been soo much better though! I'm a glass half full kind of guy, what can I say?
The Stay (2021)
Ghastly and that's being nice.
Very likely the worst movie ever made. Believe the bad reviews here, please!! Do not watch this movie, unless you want the feeling of just having been punk'd.
Homecoming (2018)
Decent....but....
Could there be everyday people that would be ok with working on a Homecoming project?? Abusing veterans like that?? Wow how cruel the workers are at Geist.
Roberts showed a heart at least Actors that were awesome: shea, cannevale and the guy with the oxygen in season2 episode 1. Worst was joan cusack, she was just weird and her character came out of nowhere, weird ending to season 2; cusack made it out to the farm whereas everyone else dropped on the spot? Best scenes were when cannevale and roberts were on the phone.
The Vanished (2020)
Don't understand the bad reviews?
The movie was entertaining! Actors were good (except maybe a few) and it kept you wanting to watch! The sheriff was great done by Jason Patric and it was all around entertaining. Oscar picture no, but entertaining, heck yeah!!!!! The emotions of losing a child, sadness, relationship issues, etc is all real life stuff and quite moving here.
Us (2019)
1/10 only because of the ending
One of the worst films ever made. Believe all of the bad reviews here, they are all 100 percent correct. Jordan Peele, the cast, the movie, and all of those involved- what an embarrassment for all the world to see.
Age of Summer (2018)
Hope, then despair.
I usually like these coming of age summer films, but this was a strange one. The official movie description keeps saying 1986, yet 1983 is written on the chalk board and the newspaper headline in the movie. Who makes this mistake?? Characters are shallow. Are they bulliies? are they friends? Did he cruelly abandon his nerdy friend and why? Shooting the Hawaiian guys and the Rock God, omg!! My family couldn't watch it so I had to finish it alone.
