Better Call Saul: Plan and Execution (2022)
Season 6, Episode 7
10/10
"Whatever happens next, it's not gonna go down the way you think it is."
23 May 2022
All good things come to an end.

With episode 7, the first half of season 6 concludes with a brutalist bang, crushing any concerns about the pacing of season 6 in a heartstopping instant.

Director Thomas Schnauz absolutely delivers:; flush with particularly elegant cinematographic flair, episode was cruel and unrelenting by all metrics, with fiery tension and ramifications that will echo across Gould and Gilligans universe for years.

One thing I particularly noticed was the foreboding sense of despair and downfall that underpinned the plot, travelling exactly where most viewers suspected but in a twisted, unique style packed to the brim with chicanery levels of emotion.

All in all, season 6a has been an emphatic success, with episode 1, 3 and 7 being the highlights.

People getting mad at Gi Hun are missing the point.
6 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Whilst I agree the old man twist was poor writing, I found Gi Hun's decision to not enter the plane rather satisfying. His daughter will be there when he comes back. But for so many other people, they will not, if he gets on that plane. Hundreds will die miserable and lonely deaths away from their families, children, mothers, husbands and wives. All because of the system. How could he ever live with himself knowing he was allowing that to continue when he has the money and power to possibly end it? I know what I would do.

Its not out yet!
29 September 2021
Stop giving this a 10 you lot.

1. Its not out

2. If last episode didn't convince you Murphy was incapable of writing a fully fleshed out story what will.

Ps. The episode is now out. First half decent, second half is a joke.

The Walking Dead: Acheron: Part I (2021)

Incredibly strong episode. Best opener since season 5.
19 August 2021
Both plotlines, both in alexandria and the commonwealth were great. The cinematography is, like with 10c, really carrying the tone, which is much more dark and gritty like the old days. Some great dialogue in here too.

I do personally feel as if the separation of the commonwealth and alexandria plots was somewhat damaging to my immersion as every time I was starting to really get into the scene it would change.

Regardless, it was a really good episode and gives me high expectations for season 11.

Modern Family: Chirp (2010)

Some of the best jokes in the series. Massively underrated.
15 July 2021
This episode does not warrant a 7.7/10, it's at least an 8.5 relative to the previous ratings.

Yes the chirp is annoying but the Dunphy household plot was surprisingly captivating, achieving laughs almost every minute, and (for the first time so far in this show I reckon) simultaneously successfully sentimental.

The Gloria and Jay plot was hilarious, but it's eclipsed by Cameron and Mitchels child actor plot. The final scene here had me in tears.

Season One is mesmerising, life-changing stuff.

This show is slow.

But it's the best kind of slow. It is INCREDIBLY immersive, and the characters are allowed to grow into something truly special. The midseason is very very good and the final scene is just phenomenal.

So damn good
20 May 2021
Easily one of the better 6b episodes. A truly wonderful season, which does repeat some errors of the previous two, but is definitely shaping up to redemption.

Teddy is a great villain.

I can't say much else because I'm short on time... but this episode makes you REALLY excited for next week's. I'm expecting it to be a banger the way things were set up.

Well done.

Slow episode done right
15 May 2021
HUGE improvement on last week's road bump.

They really went back to their roots here; no more cheesy dialogue, just great characters interacting with one another.

Its slower paced, and I'm sure that's likely to raise some eyebrows given our position in the season, but I loved what they did here. Everything felt far more grounded in reality, and whilst set-up, it's good set up.

Very excited for next weeks.

Not as good as it should've been.
9 May 2021
Unfortunately this was a sloppy episode. The last 15 minutes were the best part, and I definitely agree with most that the ending was strong, even if slightly predictable.

However, I really am getting quite tired of dream/psychedelic sequences in TWDU. The show runners need to accept that they aren't a strong point in a show like this; they don't further the plot, and they didn't explore character psychology as much as they could have.

Secondly, this show loves to kill characters but also gives them heaps of plot armour when needed - kind of takes away some of the realism. There were some decisions made by characters that made very little sense. I'll keep it spoiler free but you'll know what I mean when you see it.

To conclude, not the best - but not horrible either.

Loved this episode
2 May 2021
A great installment into this quality season. I am now comfortable with classifying this season as better than season 3, and we havent even reached the finale yet!

Otherwise was probably the best paced episode so far; every scene led onto the next and it just... flowed naturally.

We finally got some good Alicia scenes (thank god) and the other less interesting characters featured became far more interesting.

9.5/10 and a contender for the best episode this season alongside 1, 4 and 9.

Fear the Walking Dead: Handle with Care (2021)
Season 6, Episode 10
8/10
Pretty good!
24 April 2021
Fear TWD continues a strong streak of episodes with 'Handle with Care'. Daniel takes the front seat and delivers an impressive performance.

The episode is well shot; the cinematography of season 6 continues to be the best the show has ever produced.

The writing is taut, if not entirely thought provoking, and provides for some entertaining scenes here and there.

Despite this, the episode did feel somewhat lacking when contrasted to the previous episodes.

I wouldn't call it a road bump, but it lacked the thrilling intensity of the prior episodes. Regardless, still good television and doesn't hurt the season at all.

7.5/10.

On par with Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones in terms of acting and writing. I'm actually in awe at the talent behind and in front of the screen. Phenomenal in every way.

"THEN WE SHOULD TWIST THE KNIFE!"

Wow. What a stunner this episode was.

Every actor was great here and we saw some of the best screenplay so far.

Going in to this season I doubt anyone was expecting Fear to become one of the best currently airing shows on television, let alone even watchable. It very much is.

9.5/10.

I loved it but I'm slightly worried about the future
12 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Fear TWD has a character problem.

TWD had it too - although the cinematography, dialogue and narrative continue to be a HUGE improvement on previous seasons - they can't keep trading characters to stay entertaining when the replacements are less captivating than the originals.

They are more than capable of creating tension with far less deaths - they proved in 6a that a slower plot can be more effective than explosions and zombies galore. I'm not saying that was used here, but I can understand some reviewers disliking what is otherwise 9 -10/10 purely because John was really great and without him the show might decline like it did with Nick.

Whilst John's death was well acted, shot, written and therefore emotionally poignant - overall making for a really strong episode - it does leave the viewer puzzled as to how many cards the writers have left to play.

Time will tell if this episode is fantastic or a terrible decision.

Edit: as of episode 11, it has remained fantastic.

The Walking Dead: Here's Negan (2021)

Just when you think Negan couldn't get any cooler...
4 April 2021
... he does.

Personally I didn't hate the last 5 episodes, but its mostly agreed that they weren't the best.

With this episode, it becomes clear that the problems with this show were purely that they've used up almost every idea in the book at this point, and for that reason the show became dry.

When they did finally make something new (not ghosts and hallucinations for the 500th time, yay)... their is clearly talent behind and in front of the screen.

I must admit I'm in awe at how good this episode was.

It could've been a full movie and to be honest I would place this in my top 5 Walking Dead Episodes ever. Not one minute was wasted.

For the first time, in this entire season, I'm gonna say it... IT FELT TOO SHORT!

Never did I think I'd say that given how slow things have been recently, so I'm extremely relieved that we ended on a high point. Season 11 is gonna be great.

Edit: seems like I accidentally posted a review with a typo saying I did hate the last 5 eps, ignore that one.

Yea sure the concept is quite dated and unoriginal - but who cares! It works, and this film is no exception. Bob Odenkirk really proves his versatility here. He certainly deserves praise for this.

6.8? Really? Either this is getting review bombed by people who haven't seen it yet or I missed something but this is 8+ relative to the other episodes. Excellent acting across the board, great pacing and a very brutal first look at the commonwealth. Watch this show!

Edit: as of right now, this is the lowest scored TWD episode. This is not only wrong, it's really wrong. Something fishy is up. I'm upping my score to a 10 to balance this out.

22 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Look, there was nothing wrong with this episode. It was great... but the reviewers hyped this up in all the wrong ways. The Morgan and Alicia hug was good but seriously... what a bunch of trolls those reviewers were, they are teasing that there is a reference or a hint of Madison returning in this episode and all we got was a name drop of the stadium from S4. What.
