An Excellent Action-Packed Movie
11 May 2024
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is as intense as ever that makes its predecessor into a franchise, to give a lot of growth to the environment around these apes. It has provided not only to make the story engaging, but to show its audience the environment where the apes would live after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The same would apply with the characters both apes and humans. And not to mention with addition of stunning action, along with editing and special effects that make these scenes look chaotic. Not just that, but even the atmosphere the apes live in really does give a great match. If you enjoyed the first movie, then I think you will enjoy this one a bit more. You should check it out. After watching the ending, this convinces me to be thankful the fact the third installment exists. That means the story of Caesar is not over. I'm definitely up for it and we will see how the war continues.

I'm Starting To Get Into This Franchise Already
10 May 2024
I have heard from people that the franchise is supposed to be even better than the original film. Now I have watched this, I think I may already be getting into the franchise and why many love these movies so much. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is an excellent action-packed movie that reboots the original film and takes to a whole new level. A lot thanks to a highly intense story, awesome editing and special effects that makes the monkey's intelligence look intimidating, great character growth especially for Caesar's intentions throughout the movie, exciting action during the final act, and a powerful social commentary on animal abuse for experimenting. I think this will be the movie worth watching, even those that were like me and have not watched any of the movies. Once you give this a watch, I can guarantee you that it will make you want to catch up to the entire franchise. This has given this to a really great start and really has given me its first impression. Can't wait to watch more of these so even I can rise with the apes.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (2023 Video Game)

An Awesome Survival
4 May 2024
This may be a bit of a hot take, but I think I really enjoyed this game a lot more than Fallen Order. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is even more worth playing than the predecessor. While there may have been some minor struggles, it's the kind of game that any Star Wars fan would love to explore with an open world gameplay, along with some upgrade moves that makes several moments any player can use to get pass through. Not only that, the plot for it is pretty engaging where as the game is called Survivor, it really does get intense the way it tells the story about the fall of the Jedi and how they survive. And the graphics are very breathtaking not only for the world, but especially for its cutscenes that make the game cinematic. If you have enjoyed playing Fallen Order, I think you are gonna enjoy this more. I know some say that EA hasn't always been good on Star Wars when it comes to the Battlefront reboots, but at least this and Fallen Order are the games that any fan could ask for. The fall of the Jedi indeed was tough, but the survival through it was worth it. Happy Star Wars Day.

The True Feelings of Pixar
1 May 2024
This movie is the perfect way to describe Pixar, as a studio that not only entertains, but also to make us feel. And this one is no exception. Inside Out is easily one of the best movies Pixar has created. It was crafted beautifully for its concept that's about emotions and what may be going on in your head. And it really exceeds its concept wonderfully for having a heartfelt story, very creative animation, its world building of how the mind works, very cute comedy, incredibly crafted characters that demonstrate the emotions they are, and especially for having an emotional connection to Riley's struggle. This is definitely a movie that everybody should watch, especially those that are like me and truly admire Pixar's works. I know some may say that the studio is not as great as it used to be, but no matter what, I've always been all for any Pixar film for each film that gets released and can still make great films to this day. And that's exactly how I feel with this movie for being the highlight of what makes Pixar so great.

Knuckles' Own Series (But Not Really)
28 April 2024
Knuckles is a type of series that is more of a promotion for Sonic The Hedgehog 3. I'll say that there are some redeemable things it got right such as great visuals, enjoyable action scenes and good acting. But I feel that the story for this miniseries relies more on Wade than giving Knuckles a story arc, which can sometimes make it sound like a generic bowling story and that Knuckles himself can often be treated more of a side character. I think this series will be a lot more suitable for those that are huge fans of the Sonic films. However I know that not everyone has Paramount Plus, so you probably won't miss much from it. Considering we are getting another Sonic movie right at the end of this year, maybe I can look at this series as a side project and would just save the real fun for it. Maybe Paramount Plus will do more of this in the future with other characters having their own series perhaps after the events of the third film seeing the direction how the franchise will probably go. As this series has given Knuckles his own arc after the events of the second film, at least it tried.

Not as Awesome as I Hoped
20 April 2024
King Fu Panda 4 is by far the weakest of the franchise, but can still be a good movie. I will say there's some that has let me down like how the story didn't take enough time to make the franchise a comeback and some characters like Chameleon and (sometimes) Zhen being uninteresting, along with the fact the Furious Five only appeared right at the ending and didn't provide any room for the movie. But it can still provide what makes the franchise enjoyable thanks to stunning action scenes, some enjoyable throwback to some of the characters from the previous film on the third act, and animation that's as amazing as ever. Maybe fans of the franchise may enjoy this, but I don't think you should keep your expectations high since there will be instances from this where you may probably feel the franchise wouldn't be the same without. It feels that the movie doesn't have much awesomeness as the first three were, this one was just decent.

The Dark Side of Nick Sitcoms
12 April 2024
I'm gonna be honest, I'm someone who has never gotten much into Nickelodeon's live action stuff. Maybe it's just me, but perhaps it's I have been more of a 2000s kid that has grew up much often with Cartoon Network and Disney Channel (and a little bit of Nick when it comes to their cartoons). Now I've seen the documentary, this made me want to distance their sitcoms even more. Which is the right thing for these victims to call out the monster that made these shows. Quiet on Set explains the dark side of the Nick sitcoms. There were so many things that are worth listening behind the scenes from The Amanda Show, to All That, to Drake and Josh, to ICarly, to Victorious, to Sam and Cat. A lot of these people that are involved to these shows has hold Dan Schneider and the three predators accountable for their actions that have affected their lives. Not just the harassment, but also a lot of other messed up things that have happened during the production for each season. Maybe the only complaint is that there could've been some victims that would've explained their story like Amanda Bynes since she was the star of her show and she would've explained her experience on the show. But other than that, this documentary has done very well explaining the entire story. As episode five said it best, this is the story that must be told, especially for any Nick fan. I know those that may have grew up with the Nick sitcoms are probably gonna have a hard watch, so I want those groups to hear me out right now. What the documentary is gonna explain is something true fans of these shows should listen in order to know behind the scenes. Maybe this should be a lesson to future kids sitcoms, to avoid any type of production like how Dan Schneider would handle all his shows and make sure these kids that are involved with these shows can have a safe and healthy environment when doing acting for them.

More Kong, Less Godzilla
6 April 2024
Godzilla and Kong would've made a great team, but not a lot to convince that they would be honestly. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is an okay movie, but probably the weakest of the MonsterVerse movies so far. The movie would mostly rely onto the story of Kong that it has forgot to give a plot for Godzilla. The most we would see from Godzilla is that he travels and that's it, with not much new from him. That and just like in the other MonsterVerse movies, I really did not care for the human characters. I felt they haven't gotten a lot of character suitable for this movie. The only ones I see does try to put effort to the movie's purpose is Jia. However, it can be well enough to be an exciting monster film with awesome battle scenes that feature abilities for each monster that they have, along with great atmosphere for Hollow Earth. I'd say that it can be a good movie for Godzilla fans for the monster fights. But if you're expecting this to be something like Godzilla Minus One, I wouldn't set your expectations that high. It was not that bad as it is for a monster movie, but could've done a lot more.

How Mike and Sully Met
2 April 2024
As a college movie, this is not as strong as the original movie. But as a prequel, it is pretty good. Monsters University is an enjoyable prequel that does explain nicely of how it works in order to work at a scaring company. It may be far from being amazing with a generic collage story and some instances where it doesn't feel it has connection for the original. But there are also times it does want to be a prequel thanks to some enjoyable comedy and the final act that truly steals the movie, along with strong animation. Of course, this will be the movie for those that truly enjoyed the original film. However, I wouldn't set the expectations too high since this is a collage movie and there's not really a lot of connection to the original. There are better Pixar movies out there in my opinion, but at least it did a good job with this prequel.

One of the Most Oddest Movies
22 March 2024
I'll be honest, I have not seen a single movie from A24, but I've heard several that are one of the biggest achievements in filmmaking. And this is one of them. Everything Everywhere All at Once is what I can consider among the weirdest in the best kind of way. The way the movie tells its story would provide something that will make a drama movie an ultimate thrill ride for its extremely intense action, stunning visuals, incredible characters with each dimension for us to learn their personalities, amazing martial arts representation, and especially for being one of the most oddest editing and direction for a movie. I will say this right now, you must be prepared before watching this movie. What this movie will do is mess with your mind as it will tell its story. And when you're ready, you will experience something truly amazing. This has given me A24's amazing first impression, and it truly does convince that I should check out more of their movies. I really do think it's justified to be an Oscar winner, to present something new for movies like this one.

The Batman's Downgrade
16 March 2024
Batman may last forever, but this particular movie franchise being enjoyable sadly doesn't. Batman Forever has given a massive downgrade from the first two movies. I'll give the movie that it does try with some of the stunts being stunning and The Ridder being an enjoyable villain especially coming from the performance of Jim Carey. But because of the different direction from before, that would result the movie to have a predictable story that doesn't have a good connection of the first two, visuals that don't stand out from before, and some of the acting that can be just considered under acting. Even as a Batman fan, I would best recommend to just stick with the first two films since they have Tim Burton as the director and did a much better job doing a movie of the superhero. I wish that there could've been a proper follow up to the previous two and something that can truly stand out from the predecessors. But by watching this movie, all it did was make me wish to watch a better Batman movie. I know the next film will be worse, but this is just the beginning of the franchise's downfall.

Tim Burton's Batman Worth Continuing
14 March 2024
This is the last movie of this kind of Batman franchise that is directed by Tim Burton, but I can call it the only good sequel in here. Batman Returns is the only sequel in this franchise that does follow up right. It may have a bit of a downgrade due to a dull plot element with Catwoman, but it still has the charm from the first movie with an engaging story that gives the Penguin's development seem intense, nice special effects, very solid characters, and great performances especially coming from Danny DeVito as the Penguin. If you enjoyed the first film, you will most likely have a good time with this one too. This sequel ain't The Dark Knight, but it is the only one at least in this franchise worth continuing. So now I have watched the first two of the franchise that's directed by Tim Burton, now all I have left is to suffer through the ones directed by Joel Schumacher.

The First Warner Bros Batman Movie
12 March 2024
We have been getting so many Batman movies all these years for each era we would reach. And this is the first Batman movie Warner Bros has produced that has given us a nice first impression. Tim Burton's Batman is a pretty enjoyable movie that makes a great adaptation to the character. I won't say that the visuals are as spectacular as other of the Batman movies, but it would still contain an exciting story, intense action, good special effects, characters with their development that does stand out from the comics, and very entertaining performances. I think this will be worth checking out for Batman fans to see how Warner Bros has given a good example as their first movie based on the superhero. While I do believe there are better Batman movies out there, I think we can agree that this is the most favorable of the original movie franchise from the 90s (or just right at the end of the 80s in this case).

Why Public Domain's Horror Twist Is a Terrible Idea
11 March 2024
When there's people that have an idea using the public domain, that would have them think that it would do something to create their own. However in the case of going into this kind of direction, there's sometimes a reason public domain can have people wish that they're still copyrighted. Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey is not just an insult to a childhood favorite, but also one of the most stupidest horror movies ever made. The consequence of adapting a classic into a horror twist results in having a pointless premise that has nothing to do with how the franchise we know and love, giving little to no charm or likability. The story has no focus and leaves with more questions than answers, the horror feels more messed up than scary, both the costumes and the special effects are convincing that they look fake, the characters are all dumb, the killers are mentally unstable, and the tone is misogynistic that's convincing that this is nothing but a lazy horror film. I will say this right now. If you're someone that has grew up admirably with the character, then yeah, definitely avoid this movie. However, if you're someone that wants to create your own version of the characters that have entered public domain as a movie and want to learn what to avoid, I won't stop you. And this is a great example of using public domain the wrong way. At least this will be the only public domain Disney property that will get this kind of treatme- I'm sorry, what? There's gonna be one of Bambi and Peter Pan? And there's gonna be a sequel to this soon? Ladies and gents, get used to it. This is the era for horror movies we will be stuck in for a while.

The Most Pretentious Video Game Adaptation
23 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I'll be honest, I thought the 1995 movie was mediocre at best. It does have laughably bad editing, but at least there are moments that fans of the games can have a good time with. The sequel however was not the case at all. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation is probably the most dumbest and pretentious movie based on a video game. It acts like it even wants to be an action martial arts movie, but fails at being that with little to no effort on the screenplay. The plot is completely effortless, the action is lifeless, the visuals look like the budget wasn't enough to be finished, CGI is cringe, the actors didn't seem enthusiastic about this, and the characters are very dumb. In fact, I'll spoil the movie just to give an example of how stupid these characters are. Sindell was supposed to be Kitana's mother, and the movie said the only way for the darkness to overturn was for Kitana's love for her mother. But it turns out that Sindell didn't even love her in the first place. It's as the movie doesn't know what to do to make this as a legit sequel to the 1995 film. Even if you're a fan of the games, stay away from this movie. You're much better off with the games and the 2021 movie, or even just stick with the 1995 film because at least you'll most likely have a good time than how the sequel had no point of continuing. Not only is this one of the worst movies based on a video game, but also an ultimate nail in the coffin to the first movie.

A Clever Raunchy Comedy About Love Life
15 February 2024
The 40 Year Old Virgin is a clever comedy that represents the life about being with your loved ones. Probably what represents the most is people that may or may not have experienced sex. I know there are people that are like Andy and may not be comfortable with sex because of the different types of women that have the certain behavior whether if they're party animals or just overly obsessed with sex, which what makes the writing pretty clever and provide the characters of the love stereotypes that may affect a relationship and hilarious jokes. There are issues that can keep this from being one of the best comedies because of how it can it times be complicated to follow for the first half, but it still was worth a good laugh. This movie isn't really for everyone since this movie is essentially the topic on sex. So I can say that if you're into raunchy comedies, you're most likely gonna have a good time. Or maybe even something useful if you ever want to get the idea of the concept of love life. Happy Valentines Day.

An Epic Third Installment
10 February 2024
I won't say that it was as great as the previous two, but Po would never fail at his awesomeness. Kung Fu Panda 3 is a great third installment that can be as exciting as ever. While it can be a bit of a downgrade due to how the movie would be mostly about the family reunion than the real deal of what the plot is actually about, but it still manages to keep the kung fu strong with a solid story, awesome action scenes, amazing animation, and characters that still keep their personalities strong as ever. Of course, fans of the first two films are really gonna enjoy this one. I thought this was a conclusion to the entire trilogy. But really, we're getting another movie soon. And I cannot wait to see how it continues. I can take another one of Po's awesomeness over singing trolls or business babies any day.

The Awesomeness Is Awesome As Ever
10 February 2024
By revisiting this movie, I feel that this is the kind of awesomeness that's as awesome as ever. King Fu Panda 2 is even more epic than the first film. It does have the same ability to be something awesome with an epic story, amazing animation, and a cast of great characters old and new. But the new additions the movie would add for another movie is unbelievably engaging. I won't get into spoilers, but the new character building for them (specially Po) really does help what is worth continuing the story of the dragon warrior. And this would have one of the best villains DreamWorks has introduced in their movies. I think that fans of the first film will really enjoy this movie. You guys should really check it out. The one thing I can say is it already got me excited how it's gonna continue with their next movie.

What It Takes To Be a Warrior
10 February 2024
Kung Fu Panda is a very epic adventure movie that has a really high mark in Chinese representation. As the movie does so very well, the plot is engaging, the action is unpredictably exciting, the animation is amazing, the characters are the true warrior themselves, and the actors have given an outstanding performance, especially with Jack Black as the star, which gives the best and most funny moments. This is the movie I really do recommend especially those that are fans of films like The Karate Kid and Ip Man that also got the great mark of Chinese representation. This is one of the most epic movies the studio has created. DreamWorks does know what it takes to be a warrior for this film.

The Origin of the Chocolate Maker
5 February 2024
I never thought we would get a prequel that involves Willy Wonka, but this was made pretty well. Wonka is a very solid movie that tells a good tale of how the chocolate maker himself began his chocolate business. It was able to provide a solid plot of Wonka's origin, creative visuals that stands out from the original, enjoyable characters that serve well of Willy's journey, and a track of fantastic songs. The movie may feel some of the writing would rely onto the laundry shop element than it would for how Willy started his factory, but other than that, it was definitely worth the tale. Would you like to see how Willy Wonka started his chocolate business? This is worth checking out. Even though it's not as special as the original film, this movie is worth doing its own business

A Sonic Series We've Never Seen Before
5 February 2024
This is the kind of Sonic product that we have never seen before, and that's exactly what makes it worth it. Sonic Prime is probably the most original Sonic series that was made. Sure it's not perfect with the unnecessary betrayal scenes that make the series complicated and an uninteresting villain twist, but it still has all it needs to make this a good series with an engaging story, good animation, intense action, and very enjoyable characters that is able to give characters we know the different personalities of themselves in three different worlds we would see in the entire series. This will be worth watching for both Sonic fans and non-fans. I think even they will get engaged with the direction of the premise the show is going for. It's not the best series on Netflix, but it is one of the best Sonic series I've seen next to SatAM.

An Easily Forgettable Book Adaptation
4 February 2024
The Tiger's Apprentice is a mediocre book adaptation where it had good opportunities, but was not exactly as good as I would expect. It does have the right tools to be a good film with the direction the movie is going for with the respectable Chinese representation, decent animation, and action scenes being the best part. But it ended up being an easily forgettable film with a disappointingly dull and rushed story, weak looking human characters, and pretty bland characters. I know not everyone will have Paramount Plus and I agree that their exclusives aren't that great. So I won't see any rush to watch this one. I have never read the book, so I'll just say that maybe those that have read it may be interested in this. It is disappointing that Paramount is not releasing original animated films in theaters, but this one does feel like it fits for streaming.

A Fun Experience In The Dark
3 February 2024
It is a shame that this was on Netflix instead of theaters, but maybe the decision the studio made is not really something to fear and can still be a good movie. Orion and the Dark is a cute and creative film that represents well about how day and night would work. There may be some elements that can be seen confusing especially with the ending. But it can be a fun experience in the dark with cute comedy, very creative animation that has so much to play around of the night entities' abilities, great character buildings that serve the night a well purpose, and a nice moral that there's more to life than fear. Even though this Dreamworks movie is not in theaters, I still think this is worth checking out. And like Dark himself, it will show those that are afraid of the dark the purpose of why the night exists. It may have not been the best night, but it has even proved that the dark can be something not to be afraid of.

A Way To Celebrate Disney's 100th Anniversary
29 January 2024
I'll admit that it was not as special as I hoped and I do understand people saying that it is a disappointment. But that doesn't mean I'll be one of those people that are gonna call this a bad film. In fact, I thought Wish was a very decent way to celebrate Disney's 100th anniversary. I do understand people's complaints with a pretty weak story and that the movie doesn't have a lot of development. But I can appreciate the charm it does try in order to give a Disney feel thanks to the great animation, some of the enjoyable songs, an ego but entertaining villain, and it's especially fun to look at the entire library of the Disney Animation movies that were made during those 100 years during the credits. I wouldn't call this the most must watch they've made, but I'll say this will be for the Disney fans to celebrate Disney's century celebration. I won't consider this as Disney's better movies. But for what it is, a good movie is all I can wish for.

Walt Disney's Last Movie
29 January 2024
This was the final movie Walt Disney has created before his death. And what he has made was worth the swan song. The Jungle Book is a really fun movie that I think would be worth being in the jungle. While it may play safe due to how it's not much faithful to the story it was based on, it wouldn't stop from having funny characters that serve a lot of likability, a decent plot we can follow, and very catchy songs worth remembering, along with fantastic animation. Maybe Disney himself would've done better if he does make the movie a lot more faithful rather than cutting off some of those scenes, but I can forgive him for the fun he has made. I think this movie will be worth watching for anyone that wants to watch a film to have fun. I won't consider this the biggest classic, but I do think Disney did a good job the best he can to adapt the story of Mowgli. Walt Disney may have done some things that may make him seem like a horrible man, but we will never forget movies like this one we can admire on growing up.
