The Aviator (2004)
10/10
Masterpiece with an all-time level performance of Leonardo DiCaprio.

Terrific piece of filmmaking.

Half character study, half biopic, The Aviator is a darkly funny and unusually entertaining epic biopic with an unorthodox narrative structure, and groundbreaking cinematography and color grading.

And all of this is carried by Leonardo DiCaprio's magnificent portrayal of the recluse, obsessive-compulsive billionaire pioneer Howard Hughes.

It's the greatest performance ever of his entire career until now.

A must-see that is destined to become a classic in the years and decades to come.

One of the most accurate, realistic, and uncompromising depictions of drug addiction carried by an all-time level performance of Leonardo DiCaprio
7 October 2021
Terrific film.

An uncompromising portrayal of drug addiction and its self destructive consequences.

And Leonardo DiCaprio at the age of only 21 years old pulls off an all-time level performance as the young drug addicted once promising basketball player Jim Carroll.

He entirely carries and owns this movie alone on his shoulders.

He commands the film with such star power, magnetism, commitment, and immersion into the character that you feel pain for him, you believe everything he's doing is absolutely real and authentic, his performance is reminiscent of Al Pacino in The Panic In Needle Park.

P. S. The fact that he pulled off all time level performances respectively at only 19 and 21 years old in both What's Eating Gilbert Grape and The Basketball Diaries is even more astonishing.

Maybe the greatest crime epic ever made and unlike anything else I've ever seen in the genre
4 October 2021
Probably my favorite film of all time.

A sprawling, decade spanning four hour crime epic that you wish would never end.

The fastest four hours I've ever experienced in my life.

Melancholic and elegiac, this phenomenal film is radically different from any other existing gangster film, because it's not just a gangster film, it's an absolutely poignant and profound of an entire era, the Prohibition era, under the eyes of the jewish hoodlum Noodles and his group of friends.

Sergio Leone, the creator of the Spaghetti Western, crafted an extraordinarily ambitious crime epic.

Emotionally haunting, visually stunning, and stylistically bold, Once Upon A Time In America may very well be the greatest crime epic ever made in cinema history (yes, sir, even better than the first two Godfather films and Goodfellas).

A must see for any film critic, true cinephile,or film lover.

AMONG TARANTINO'S BEST FILMS! HE CREATED HIS OWN ROMA!
7 March 2021
Tarantino did his own Cuaron's Roma.

It's among his best films, and it completes in a beautiful way his revisionist trilogy.

It's his least violent and most tender and mature film ever.

Everyone here is at the top of their game, Pitt is terrific but DiCaprio commands the screen and steals the show with this big, brave, hilarious, and at the same time vulnerable and heartbreaking performance.

He's at the top of his game and beyond reproach in this as he always has been in these last 26 years.

It's probably DiCaprio's greatest performance ever.
