Another one ...
25 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The writer decided, lets put every single cliche in the first episode, foreign soldiers fighting an enemy they created, destroying everything to save the dignity of the spy, feeling sad about it, the superwoman, a woman so strong, so intelligent, a prodigy, a force of nature, everyone is shocked and stunned by her amazingness. Then without any prep at all, she's thrust into an op and all of a sudden the panic begins, the cold - because I gave my warmth to someone else before who died because of me, therefore I don't want to get to know you in case the same thing happens to you - team leader, the flagrant disregard for protocol, just because and then no consequences for breaking them, the ended in the loss of life.

Those were the ones I could keep a track of in this generic, bland mess.

I mean what is this? 99% of everything that has been released since 2019 has been aweful. Just the same old thing rehashed with new actors. Maybe I should go back to books.

Gen V (2023– )

8 episodes that could be one episode of the boys
19 December 2023
I guess we are supposed to care about the characters, otherwise this could have been an episode of The Boys. Even though The Boys has decended into a boring mess, it is at least coherent and full of action.

Gen V got perpetually more and more ridiculous, I waited for something significant to happen, but it was just one generic drama after another, all in an attempt to place an ethical dilema at the feet of the audience, but the characters were so incredibaly unlikeable and carboard that that decision, at least for me, was easy.

The episodes were filled with cliches and shoehorning modern social tropes in such an unnatural and forced way. The original X-men animated series is a good example of the way mutants didn't fit into society, despite their powers, Gen V just takes the same tired crap and regurgitates it as a turd that made no sense. There was no ryhme or reason for the existence of any one character that we're supposed to care about, except for it to relate to some esoteric minority that idetifies as insufferably unique.

When will the writers get this doesn't work, its not like the past isn't littered with movies and series that were rejected and lost money because they forced their agenda on the audience. Its painful and tedious.

So boring and so generic!
6 October 2023
This was the most perfectly generic action move of all time.

  • Almost untouchable man gets injured while taking down lots of bad guys
  • saved by some kind old man
  • finds love and peace as he heals
  • sees his newly found love and peace being bullied
  • and then proceeds to take down the bully

all while acting like a robotic Alonso X Lucas. (Anyone else notice that Denzel Washington is the exact same person in every single movie he's been in since Malcom X)

The first equaliser was pretty decent, second was ok and they thought, we've got audience hooked, lets just write any old rubbish and we'll get paid and then we can retire the character.

Breaking Bad and Narcos with non of the Quality
1 July 2023
Apart from Shahid Kapoor, the entire cast seem like terrible b-list actors. The characters are all so inept except for Sunny, especially Megha who looks like she got the job by persistently being annoying rather than on any merit. The story is interesting and well crafted, even if its filled with the usual cliches, I can see the similarites between Breaking Bad in some of the characters and Narcos in some of the scenarios. Despite that, I keep getting taken out of the moment in each climatic scene with the terrible acting, like they all just came out of improv school. The traditional cat and mouse is more like pandas trying to chase down a lion.

Lower expectations, no, go lower.
28 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Imagine Arnie making his 90s movies today, it would be basically this. Cliched, boring, contrived, banal, the same old tedious story of a retiring agent who was never there for his family and now wants to make ammends, the overachieving, try hard, angry child, the perfect step dad, the nervous tech blah blah blah. It wasn't funny, the acting was terrible, there are no likeable cahracters.

I put it off through the conversation the daughter was having with her boyfried about getting pregnanat and being a stay at home mom. I couldn't take anymore - I was rapadily losing brain cells with every scene. It like beating a dead horse.

Stop milking the cow! Its dead!
12 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This franchise (and Terminator), have lost all meaning. There is nothing left to milk yet here we are.

A great premise, but very poorly executed in the name of progress. There were some totally unbelievble moments in this, the worse one is when the predator hits the progagonist with its shield twice and she's completely unhurt, when just moments later its using that same shield to cut through rocks.

She comes out of a fight with a predator without single mark on her.

Then the Predators technology, was supposed to be "primitive", but it seemed more advanced than the 1980s predator.

Why do they have to ruin these franchises just to fit some agenda, while completely ignoring rule number one of a movie, a coherent story.

A giant nothing
9 July 2022
You know that moment, when you have a really sore stomach, and there is pain in your intestines and you think you are about to have severe diarrhea and you brace yourself, then all that comes out is wind: that was this entire season.

What a let down, a cumulation to a big nothing, to keep the story going for another season, then another, then another till we all die or boredom.

Who didn't see that coming!
3 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
More cookie cutter, cliched crap. You'd have to be dull as a post to not see the twist(s), I was holding out hope that wasn't going to be the case.

The two twists were so obvious, that when they happened, it was painful.

Oh this compound is fatal ... so done.

And father and son.

This is going the wrong way like so many other great shows, filled with fan service and cliched tropes and boring filler. What will it take for these writers to actually go against the grain and do something different.

It just won't end!
3 July 2022
They could have closed this series out and ended on a high, instead they dragged it out and left a cliffhanger for another insufferble run from actors who forgot that they also need to act now they are no longer cute kids the world was fawining over a few years ago.

The life conflicts, love stories, the frienship dramas were forced and made them superflous to the overall plot.

It was a convoluted mess of ideas, conflicting from one scene to the next, the characters were never in any danger, they all (except one, who will recover - no doubt) came out pretty much unscathed: boring.

Characters I cared nothing about died.

Just more cookie cutter crap, but its the crowning jewel of a falling Netflix, so I guess they have to keep it going.

I just want it to end.

I care about the Truth
11 June 2022
I don't like Matt Walsh (or his ilk), but this is an important conversation, there is a new wave of high profile people resisting their tongues being tied from saying what the truth is.

There is a pattern with people who support trans rights, if you ask them questions, they will try and answer, and if that isn't a satisfactory answer; when pressed they will either run or try and shut you down.

That's the patterin in this documentary. Regular people are afraid to say what they feel and that's dangerously close to fascim and they see absoloutley no irony in death threats to people who oppose them.

The middle part about the founders of this idology made me physically revulse.

But the bottom line is there is money to be made in transition therapy and it won't go away untill people's pockets are being filled.

Anti Climactic cookie cutter rubbish
10 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There are another 2 episodes to go, set up for the big fight I guess (which will probably be 5 minutes long with a load of waffle before it). This season has been a total bore fest. Lets tease the audeince that eleven is really evil, or has done something terrible, only to chicken out in the end.

God forbid they go against the grain once in a while and do something different. I heard something about this being the game of thrones season of Stranger things or something along the lines of it being as dark ... it wasn't dark at all it was more like the last season of Game of Thrones, a complete mess.

Instead of the bad guy killing some characters no one cares about, kill off some of the main characters, make me care that the bad guy has to die, instead, I don't feel any of the main characters are in any danger at all, you know they are all going to survive and end in a sickeningly sweet ride into the sunset.

What a total let down.

Very similar to his last shows, not very edgy.
28 December 2021
Just as you think he was about to make a career ending joke, he doesn't. Very bland, I think I laughed twice, no memorable jokes, the fact that he has to qualify every "edgy" joke with his "terrible thing..." line just makes this whole show insufferable.

Maybe if he really wanted to end his career, he should have just went all out on the trans community. No one cares about making fun of the disabled people or cancer victims.

A great plot ruined by sub-par actors
1 September 2021
Starts of slowly, then gets better then nosedives.

Despite being 8 episodes long, not a single character gets any development, which made it hard to root for anyone, the sister was the absoloute worse and most annoying character, played by an awful actress.

All the voices sounded like they were dubbed, the accents were awful, not a single character's motiviations made sense.

Its entertaining enough to keep watching, but kept getting taken out of the momment with the bad acting.

More agenda driven crap!
9 August 2021
Can we just get movies without agendas please! Left or Right.

I only watched this as I was curious but the agendas were so forced and unatural it made no sense and to top it off it was predictable and boring.

This movie is awful, don't waste your time.

Zack Snyder is vindicated!
18 March 2021
Now this is the Justice League we all deserve.

Whedon's JL had so many unecessary scenes, like the whole opening sequence, the Russian family, but left out so much of the set up. The difference is so stark, its night and day, literally.

Batman is still a bad ass and doesn't get taken out of the game with an injury. Stephenwolf is more brutal, more imposing, yet has a vulnerability. The Flash is no longer annoying and almost useless. Superman isn't cheesy (in the end) and doesn't just save the day

The whole movie has a different, more serious tone, the story holds together a lot better.

The only thing that let it down was the Music, it didn't carry any of the themes from BvS, MoS or WW, but that's like 0.01 of a rating.

I just hope that WB take note, this is the winning formula.

Great for low attention, background noise
10 February 2021
After watching a few intense shows in which I had to invest a lot of emotion in, I needed a show to play in the background while I did my work, something that didn't require your full attention.

After binging Black-ish, I found this on Netflix. It was pretty decent. I'm a fan of America Ferrera so that was a plus.

It has a few laughs, but its pretty bland and repetative, there isn't a lot to invest in, the characters are more caricatures than real people, you can miss a lot of it and still jump back into the story without losing anything.

Just once I wish they would give an alternate ending!
23 January 2021
I like the movie, the suspense was good, although the story was very linear. I just wish the writers and directors had the balls to actually do something different than the "good guys always win" and "humans can do better" cliches.

Let that nuke drop, let it be too late, let it be an aftermath movie, it would be far more interesting than this cliched stuff.

Apparently all the parents/adults are a-holes!
12 December 2020
Great story, great premise, the whole accidental superhero but its really destiney thing has been done a hundred times, and is pretty much the origin of every superhero story, but I like how this one is played out.

The part I cannot get over is the way this show has portrayed every adult and parent. They are evil, distant, stupid, its tiresome. It is as if that part of show is written by a 12 year old.

You don't need to watch it twice to get it
5 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
If you want to the understand every intracacy of this movie, go ahead and watch it as many times as you need to. If you want to just get the general gist, pay attention and it all makes sense.

Just like Inception, the way I understood it was there was a core mission, they had to go inside someone's head to change his mind about something before he died - everything was just esoteric technology that moved the plot along.

This movies core mission is to prevent the annihilation of the world, by preventing the enacting of an algorithm from the future - everything else was just esoteric technolog that moved the plot along.

Trying to understand how the technology works is where everyone is becoming unstuck - but understand the formula of a movie, there are good guys, there are bad guys and they fight and the good guys win. When you get that part, everything about this movie and every other "intelligent" movie will make sense

If you like being in pain for 2 and a half hours, watch this.
28 October 2020
I came to watch this movie without any pretence, I had a vague notion of who Kubrick was and this is the first of his movies I've seen.

The best way to describe this is a student film that didn't know when to end. The scenes are too stretched and nothing happens for about 90% of the movie.

There are two important aspects to this story, the monolith and HAL. The only one that gets a proper conculsion is HAL and even that was so unnecessarily drawn out, it was painful.

Then there was the audio - insessant and painful.

The cinematography was painful.

The story was painful.

Did I mention this movie was painful?

I want to watch clockwork orange next - but I'm afraid of the pain it may cause me.

If you're into pain, watch it.

So very, very Generic!
17 August 2020
I should have trusted the other reviews and not wasted 2 hours on this cliched, generic, bland and cringe movie.

I was waiting for a twist, an interesting reveal or just something different - but nothing came.

The characters are all boring, have zero chemistry and anything resembling a relationship is forced and unbelievable.

Netflix need to take a page from their TV Shows. So far all their movies have been terrible.

I started off with a 10, now I'm teetering on a 5.
27 February 2020
The story is brilliant, despite any fatual inacuracies. I know how to suspend belief.

What lets this show down is the sex. Its every 5 minutes! And they are all the same. So aggressive.

They are so unecessary. I never understood sex scenes that don't add anything to the story. It builds nothing in a character, I skip through all of them and the whole relationship crap. I couldn't care less.

But its constant, the actual story stops moving in season 2. I'm very close to giving up on it.

13 February 2020
A stellar ending for an otherwise sub-par and repetative, show.

Everyone had 9 lives it seems.

I don't mind the last 90 seconds, I don't care for the explanation either. However, I am glad everyone got what they deserved in the end and that's what really matters and that's what they show needed, a happy ending.

2 seasons in and I feel something for the enemies!
8 February 2020
What a great show this is. How it's possible to humanise some one like a Nazi or someone like a Japanese imperialist, it is just incredible.

I felt the hairs on my neck stand up!

My only gripe with the show is everyone's desire to be American. I realise that, deep down, everyone has a natural inclination towards freedom. But why is there a forced agenda in this, that the only type of freedom that matters is the American kind, if not for that insufferable point, I'd have placed a higher rating.
