Aquaman (2018)
8/10
A Visual Spectacle with adequate screenplay
10 July 2023
Henry Cavill is the Superman; Jason Momoa is the Aquaman, period. Even after 5 years since it's release, Aquaman is still Entertaining as it was in 2018. Kudos to Director James Wan and the rest of the crew for making a spectacular film.

First of all, Thanks to Costume Designer Kym Barrett for nailing it with Aquaman's Suit. The Orange/Green suit looks so authentic and comic accurate, yet doesn't look ridiculous in any angle or shot. Always wondered how this traditional Aquaman suit could be brought to Live Action without looking like a Cosplayer and Designer Kym has proved otherwise. Not just for Aquaman, even the costumes for Orm, Mera & rest of crew are top notch. The atlantean army suits are so stylish and authentic looking.

Casting is upto the point. Jason Momoa owns Aquaman. Hope the new DC management doesn't replace him. Amber Heard as Mera and Patrick Wilson as Orm did a commendable performance.

Cinematographer Don Burgess, Production Designer Bill Brzeski and of course the Director of the film James Wan have created a visually spectacular underwater world. I could just simply keep looking at all the underwater shots again and again. I wish they show more of Atlantis and its people in the sequel. The Action scenes (both above and below sea level) are top notch. The stunts are good but the way they have been Captured by Don Burgess is awesome. The overall look of the film is even more enhanced by the electrifying music of Rupert Gregson Williams.

The only drawback is the screenplay. It follows a typical Hero's Journey in a Three act Structure. The screenplay is coherent and adequate yet predictable. The dialogues are bit cheesy and mediocre. There's nothing new or extraordinary here.

Overall, Aquaman is a visual spectacle with a stellar crew and adequate screenplay.

An Entertaining film downgraded by nitpicking critics
4 July 2023
There are a lot of false-negative reviews surrounding Shazam - Fury of the Gods. Honesty, all those critics are just nitpicking. This is a pretty good sequel with a significant (if not on a huge scale) improvement over the predecessor.

Shazam! (2019) is good; the sequel is better. I'm not saying it's flawless. It has the same flaw that the previous one had - screenplay. The Screenplay by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan is decent. But it doesn't seem to be an improvement over the prequel. Indeed the stakes have been rised with more powerful villains. But the antagonists are too shallow and too dumb to be menacing. It's all loud talk and no show. Neither Dr. Sivana Nor the Daughters of Atlas are challenging enough despite their incredible powers.

The screenplay shines when it turns to our protagonists. The intro scene of our heroes is top notch with a banger perfect song for the scene. The kids are now teenagers. Here Freddy gets a meatier role than Billy himself. The humor scenes are funny enough. Although the dramatic ones could be improved to have an impact.

Regarding the cast, Zachary Levi and Jake Dylan Grazer steal the show like they did in the prequel.

DOP Gyula Pados has done a splendid job. Cinematography in the original by Maxime Alexandre is good; here it's better. The sequel has more action scenes than the original and the stunt choreography is good.

Roping in Composer Christopher Becke has paid off. The Background score was average in the prequel, but here Becke has done a pretty decent job. It's not his best, still it's good and aptly suits the film.

The Production design has also been improved to suit the scale of the script. I love the changes they have done to the costumes. The prequel had cartoonish, padded suits for the heroes; here the suits are more stylish and sleek. VFX/CGI has also been improved. The monsters in this film look more authentic than the seven sins in the original.

The Shazam franchise does need a better screenplay with strong antagonists. But it ain't bad either. The sequel has improved in lot of aspects compared to the prequel. Overall, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is an entertaining film to be watched in theaters.

Citadel (2023– )

A spy gimmick
9 June 2023
Not a single scene in this 8 episode series has a rewatch value; No novelty; With plenty of plot holes, endless flashbacks and absurdities. A series that has completely taken the audience for granted. Just having Russo Brothers nametag is not enough.

The upside down shot at the beginning of each episode - pointless. Cinematography is poor. They just keep on globetrotting for no reason. For a spy show, there's too much talk and too less action. Everyone keeps talking and hyping about themselves in multiple languages. Maybe Citadel is a talk show marketed as spy show.

Population explosion seems to have an impact in spy organizations too. Cuz everyone's forming a Spy club of their own as if some kind of startup. If you have money, start a secret spy organization. Maybe all these new private spy agencies should have themselves listed in global stock exchanges.

An emotionless visual and musical spectacle
13 September 2022
This is a Ravi Varman film, not Maniratnam's. Each and every shot screams the cinematographer's talent. It's like he painted them rather than captured them. RV just enhances the beauty of everything through his skills. If RV is one side of the Kaatru veliyidai coin, ARR is the other. He does what he always does, especially with Maniratnam. A soundtrack that's gonna keep ringing in our ears forever. Songs and scores, ARR nailed them both.

But the same can't be said about Maniratnam's story. Bit of lazy writing. In one scene a character asks another "y does the heroine put up with a abusive, misogynistic hero?" and the answer is "LOVE". It's disappointing that Maniratnam resorts to this age old drama after his last modern outing, OKK. Lot of the scenes are inconsistent. The interval between Azhagiye and Sarattu Vandiyil songs is just 2 min, and the latter seems forced. The film is promoted as a poetic Romantic tale, but I see is an toxic relationship between an abusive hero and stupid heroine. The heroine here wants to be respected but she gives in to the hero for the sake of love.

Aditi Rao does a splendid job, but Karthi does falter. He needs to work in emoting vulnerabilities. The production design is great.

Overall RV and ARR have put their best to save MR's weak story.

Disappointing remake
26 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Expected a lot from Farhan Akthar, but all that is here is a disappointing mess. A straight away remake without any major changes would have worked much better than this modified version. Just one year following this disaster, the Tamil remake sticking to the original plot was released with Ajith Kumar and that's a blockbuster. The only thing that I liked here is that Don survives at the end paving way for a sequel. All other changes are completely unnecessary and frustrating.

As for the cast, it's entirely SRK show. He is the Don. But the same can't be said for the others. Boman Irani successfully fails at being the antagonist. Priyanka looks like a rookie. Kareena - just for glamour show. Arjun - Useless and frustrating inclusion. But it's the writer's fault for giving them such baseless roles.

Shankar Ehsaan Loy's songs are mediocre except for the Don Theme. Don't know who the heck is the stunt director, but he should be kicked out. It's like every character here has been to Shaolin Temple for Martial arts training. It's a Gangster movie, not kung fu panda. Even then the action scenes were so dumb. There is more shouting than fighting. And Boman shouting like a strangled cat doesn't help.

Apart from SRK, his Louis Phillippe wardrobe by Akhil Nirula is noticeably good.

Watch Billa after watching this mess and u will realize how Farhan has wasted a great script and a Star actor.

Lost in Screenplay
7 July 2022
Sathish Selvakumar's debut film has got everything but a proper screenplay. The first half is good, sticks to the premise whereas the second half seems to be out of place. It's about a couple in a live-in relationship. The screenplay should focus on both the participants in the relationship. And it does that right in the first half, but in the second half the focus has completely been put on the guy who is actually the antagonist here and the girl (protagonist) is left behind. Even then the events happening around the antagonist in the second half have little to offer in terms of plot. I'm not saying that it's bad, it's just unnecessary.

The cast is good. Especially GV Prakash who nailed it. He fits the role perfectly. Cinematography by Theni Eswar is pleasant to look at. Background score by Siddhu Kumar is great. Overall it's a good watch.

RDJ & VFX team nailed it again
17 June 2022
One thing that's consistently amazing with the Iron Man trilogy is it's visual effects. It only keeps improving in each Sequel which can't be said for the entire MCU. RDJ nails it again. But none of the Sequels have a strong Antagonist or atleast a memorable one as the first film. Brian Tyler's music is an improvement over John Debney's but it's not upto Djawadi's. Cinematography is great yet there's not much of a memorable shot like the prequels. Fitting end to the Trilogy.

Disgusting and a disrespect to the audience
27 May 2022
A colossal waste of time. Clearly the director has taken us, the audience for granted and as brainless idiots who would watch anything he makes. Nothing is good here. No coherence, no proper characters. Forced and disgusting music. There is no loopholes here. Cuz this entire film is a giant loophole.

Iron Man 2 (2010)
7/10
A Great Sequel that lacks a strong Antagonist
25 May 2022
Iron Man 2 lags behind it's prequel only in the Music Department and the Antagonist. John Debney's score doesn't have the uniqueness of Ramin Djawadi tracks. Djawadi's 'Driving with the Top Down' is an unforgettable score while nothing of Debney's is noticeable. U can hear the BGM here but it won't register in ur mind.

But that's not a big deal. The problem here is that neither of the three enemy's of Stark (Ivan Vanko, Justin Hammer & Tony's Palladium core) make an impact. The impending death of Tony due to his Palladium dependent Arc-Reactor does make up for an interesting plot but it always seems like Tony will find a replacement somehow. Whereas both Vanko & Hammer are more annoying than menacing. Neither of them match up to Obadiah Stane.

Apart from these two, the sequel is much better than the prequel. The first Iron Man movie has already set the bars high. The sequel takes it even further up. Especially the action sequences which are much better than the prequel. The CGI is so good that the suits look real enough. Even after a decade, the visual effects don't look dated. The story has so many plots going on. Yet Director Jon Favreau has successfully kept the focus on Tony throughout the film. Every plot is centered around tony. And RDJ, the face of MCU's Infinity Saga, just nailed it. Only if the Antagonists have been more impactful, the Sequel would have beaten the prequel.

Yet another age-old boxing drama failed by poor film-making
22 May 2022
Dull, cliched, boring. Apart from Farhan Akthar and Paresh Rawal, this film has nothing to watch. The other characters including the Heroine are bland and shallow. One might require a stethoscope to hear the BGM. Even then, it's disappointing. The entire story and the plot is absolute cliche. Not even a single original scene. And if there is one, it has no point. Every emotion is spoken out loud rather than being expressed. Poor film-making.

Photoshoot of Hrithik and Tiger in exotic locales
24 February 2022
A mixture of Mission Impossible and Fast & Furious served in a very dirty Bollywood Bowl. Complete lack of originality and logic. Don't know why the director even went to the trouble of writing and directing a mindless film like this. There's no story at all. More aptly, the story is HR and Tiger talking, running, jumping, flying, riding and fighting. It doesn't matter why they are doing it. All that matters is both hulks should be in front of the camera even when they have no purpose to be. And the Director and Producers have the audacity to compare this with the Hollywood blockbusters.

Apart from the bike chase sequence, the background score, a duet song and Obviously HR, everything else is disgustingly stupid. (Pardon me, but Tiger is still showcasing his muscles & martial skills instead of acting).

Although the heroine Anupriya Goenke (Vani does a cameo) does make her presence felt in her short screen time.

It seems like the word "Commercial" has become an excuse for nonsensical Impossible scenes. Soul swapping in the name of Plastic Surgery, Climax fight seems like Superman vs Black Adam.

If they are going to repeat this, we are better off without a Sequel.

Worst movie in every category
9 February 2022
This movie doesn't even deserve to be reviewed. Utter nonsense and boring to a fault. I wonder whether the director is a fool to make such a movie or does he think of us audience as fools. I heard people praising him for staying close to the game, but what's the point if the movie has nothing else to be praised for. There's is absolutely no story here. Probably the writer-director just noted down the character names, locations & zombies from the games and fooled themselves that they have a story. Everything happens randomly without any coherence.

The casting is also poor. One could come to the conclusion that if Kaya Scodelario is in a film, then it will be an absolute disaster. In every film of hers, she just looks like a mannequin. No acting skills at all. Robbie Amell, another model pretending to be an actor. Instead of casting actors, I think the producers opted to go with models.

The background score is so terrible that one would throw up. Cinematography is a disaster too. The film is set in the 90s, but it looks like it was made in the 90s.

One could just read the plot on Wikipedia and go on without watching the movie. It's not just the lack of a story, but the film doesn't have anything to scare us. The zombies look disgusting instead of being scary.

I request the people at Screen Gems to be content with the Milla Jovovich's blockbuster series and not try to ruin it by making a reboot. Cuz we don't want a reboot. We are content with the previous films.

Endure Season 1, Enjoy Season 2 and Never watch Season 3
6 January 2022
This is a average show for kids. Maybe Grownups might find Season 2 interesting, cuz it's is amazing. Season 2 had a great plot and characters. I admit all 3 three seasons are utterly predictable. But Season 2 had a relatively engaging storyline and good execution. Especially the Netherball scenes were great.

Season 1 is an average start though, with lot of scenes being repeated again and again. Same Flashbacks, same stunts but shown repeatedly enough to make one stop watching. But if you can bear through 1st season, u will have a good entertainment in Season 2. The second installment is a great improvement compared to the dull starter season.

But that's it. As soon as you finish the 2nd season, consider the show is over and there was never a 3rd season. No wonder the franchise got cancelled after 3rd season. It's a disaster altogether. I watched the 1st half of it and it was so frustrating and boring. It was so hard to keep watching till the half. Read the remaining story in Wikipedia and it's completely disgusting and disappointing. It's like the creators intentionally wanted to ruin what they have achieved in season 2.

The animation is pretty good during the matches which is actually 2D with 3D graphics. Whether it's a training session or a real match, it is so stylish. But all the scenes outside the matches in 2D only, are low grade animation.

My advice - Endure Season 1, Enjoy Season 2 and Forget there ever was a 3rd season.

The Perfect Starter to the MCU Cuisine
2 January 2022
Even after a decade since it's release, I still ain't tired of watching this movie again and again. Honestly, I've lost count of the number of times I rewatched this one. Still feels fresh, funny, stylish and absolutely entertaining. All thanks to the director Jon Favreau (the Happy Hogan). One of the best directors in the MCU catalogue. In my opinion, the best decision made by Marvel Studios is accepting both the Director and the Casting Director's choice to cast RDJ as Iron Man. It's like He was born to play Tony Stark. What an actor! RDJ gave a terrific performance in Iron Man which he continued till Endgame. The Torchbearer of the Infinity Saga. I don't think anybody else could have done justice to the role than him.

The rest of cast except Terrence Howard is also great. I prefer Don Cheadle's Rhodey. Terrence was a bit bland.

Both Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges were great. Initially I had some hesitations regarding Paltrow but she is the Pepper Potts to RDJ's Stark. They had a good chemistry here. Although I was disappointed with the way Jeff Bridges was portrayed. His character Obadiah Stane had the potential to be more than a one time villain but ended up as a one dimensional monotonous character without much depth. Still Bridges did a commendable job at what he was given.

The Screenplay is amazing except for the last 30 minutes. It was good but seemed a bit rushed and had a few plotholes that doesn't make sense. Don't know whether it was Screenplay department or the Editing department, but some thing felt out of place. Although I was able to notice it only after a decade and those few errors were not easily noticeable.

The Cinematography is good. The VFX by Industrial Light & Magic is terrific. It's very difficult to tell which one is real and which is CGI. And All Hail Jon Favreau again for bringing in the fantastic Mr. Ramin Djawadi. I don't know why there were negative criticism for his composition but I loved it. It's neither a great soundtrack nor Ramin's best but it totally fits with Iron man. It does seem like the same music is repeated throughout the film, but still good. Of the three music directors who composed of each of the Iron man Trilogy, his is the most memorable one.

Overall this is one of the movies worth going into one's Bluray Disc collections. 50 years from now, this movie will still be entertaining to watch. It has a simple storyline that even the Marvel haters can't hate this one.

Lift (III) (2021)
5/10
A Horror gimmick
19 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Maybe it's high time that Tamil Cinema starts making genuine horror movies instead of these adulterated horror-comedies that don't work most of the time. I mean literally every tamil horror movie is actually a messed up Horror-comedy. Lift is just another addition to this long queue.

The film has an intriguing premise (Stuck in the Lift with a Ghost). But it has been completely wasted because we are too stubborn to let go off our traditional horror-comedy way infused with heroic moments.

The comedy here doesn't work as they are more of mocking the Toxic work culture which is a serious issue. And the forced Romance! Like the genre has not been diluted enough already. I don't know what woman develops feelings for a stranger who intentionally destroys her smartphone. I just hope such stupid immature women don't exist. But that's our heroine here.

Speaking of our main character, the Ghost (it's a horror movie, not a hero movie). Here is where the director was clean bowled. It could probably compete with our heroine for stupidity. Same old story - some bad people kill an innocent; innocent's ghost is now on a revenge mission and it accomplishes it single handedly. Actually it has completed the mission at the beginning of the film itself. The Protagonists (both hero and heroine) are not even related to this remotely. Nor do they aid in the Ghost's mission like in the Muni franchise. Maybe now the Ghost has nothing to do in it's freetime, it decided to get some company. Tormenting and haunting the Protagonists till the kill themselves. A ghost with a code, I guess. It wants to kill two kinds of people, a bad kind and an innocent kind. But doesn't want the innocent's blood on it's hands. That's got to be the most annoyingly stupid ghost character I've ever seen in a horror movie. On top of that, it's actually two ghosts, not one. Both being stupid.

The only decent character is our hero. Kavin does give a good performance. Especially the scene where he gets trapped alone in the Lift with the ghost. It's actually the only scene that's scary enough to watch in the whole film. And Kavin pulls it off superbly.

Other than that there's nothing good or scary here. Everytime something starts to happen, we expect a frightening one but the stupid ghosts end up pulling chairs and remote controlling the lift. Even kids can scare better. Plotholes, unnecessary characters, tonal inconsistencies etc. The film is a complete mess.

Some people say that the lift is actually a metaphor for toxic work culture. That it has been perfectly captured by the cinematographer. But the revelation that the film is about toxicity of corporate atmosphere happens too late. At the very end, that it has no impact at all except for these over-analysers trying to give a deeper meaning to the lift scenes which the director himself has terribly failed at showing visually.

In short, Kavin has got into a Lift that keeps going down and down, no matter how hard he tries to repair it.

Wonder Woman (2009 Video)
5/10
An overrated film
18 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand why can't WB make a proper origin story for Amazons and then a Wonder Woman film. Be it animated or Live action, they just chose to squeeze & compress a 2 hrs worthy origin story into a mere 5 mins introduction scene which absolutely has no impact and it does not give any explanation for why the Amazons have low to no regards for Male gender ( Not Mankind or Man's World, cuz the rest of the world also has Women, whom the writers of both this Animated one and the 2017 live action film failed to recognize just to play the blame game). Instead it's just frustrating that whenever the Amazons criticize the male gender, we have to assume something horrible has been done to them by Men but don't know what it is.

Speaking of the characters, don't know who wrote this versions of Ares and Trevor but they r both incredibly annoying & stupid. I've not read the comics, but Wikipedia has much better characterization for both of them. Here Trevor is more of a Playboy than a Military personal and Ares, even his army could scare people but he looks like an guy who regularly visits the gym. Not to mention his big mouth. Wondering if he is God of War or God of Talking. Makes a big talk and gets his asskicked. Neither of them have any depth.

What this two failed has been mildly compensated by Artemis and Alexa. Though they have little screentime compared to the above big mouths, they do make an impression. Can't say the same for Diana. A rather boring Protagonist. The film is fast paced and filled with a lot of plotholes too. Animation is okay. Unnecessary depiction of blood and violence though. Instead of being "Oh God, she decapitated him", its just "she decapitated him".

What's impressive in this film is the Background score by Christopher Drake. Honestly, the film does not deserve his score at all.

Wonder Woman (2017)
5/10
DC's 2nd worst film after suicide squad
16 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand the words 'mankind' and 'man's world'. As if the entire globe is full of men and women r only in Themyscira. Entire Amazons keep saying that Men are easily corruptible and do not deserve their help. Then who is Isabel Maru? A man disguised as woman? Right from the beginning, the Amazons are portrayed as blatant sexists. Here it's a woman who creates the most dangerous weapon and intends to use it to kill millions. But it doesn't matter. All that the Amazons want is to blame Men. Even if the crime is committed by a woman also, a man should be blamed. Perhaps humankind is the apt word and pretty sure that the Amazons are aware of such a word but still they will use mankind only. Don't know whether it's how they are written in the comics, but it's disgusting and stupid. I've not read any comics but have watched a lot of dc animated shows and films. But not in one have I found a proper origin story for Amazons. Every story seems stupid, and in every story the Amazons are stupid.

Here it's too cliched and baseless. The antagonist Ares is so underwritten that by the time he makes his appearance it doesn't have an impact. The dialogues are so dull and cliched.

There are a lot of plot holes.

A) Why was Hippolyta hiding the truth about Diana's birth from Diana? Because if Diana knows it, then Ares will find her soon. That's a dumb queen. Diana is going after Ares. The truth could actually help her.

B) Who is the Chief? He seems to be a well known character in the army but we don't know what he is.

C) Sameer can speak lots of language. But there was no use for it apart of showing off to Diana which ended in a miserable failure.

D) Charlie seems to be a marksman but never does he show his skills. Even Diana asks the same to which Sameer gives an unnecessary unrelated speech. Apparently Charlie is there just to sing. Are they going to War or picnic?

E) I don't know what's Diana's mission. Is it to kill Ares, Stop the war and save millions of people, women and children? Or is it just to kill Ares and stop the war? In No man's land She fights to save the women, Children and innocent people of Veld. But when she kills Ludendorff (whom she believed to be Ares) and the war doesn't end, she backs off. She is like "Oh Men are inherently corrupted by birth. Let them kill themselves and all the innocent people, women and children. I don't care." Spoken like a true Hero. And when Steve sacrifices himself to save millions, she suddenly has a change of heart. Looks like she backed off to save herself and let Steve do the sacrifice. She is strong enough to go hand to hand with Superman. She can withstand the Hydrogen bombs, but she won't do that. True noble warrior.

F) In the climax, Ares had the upper hand over Diana in the beginning. That makes sense, he is God of War. But Diana though referred to as a god, she is not actually a God. Yet she turns the table and kills Ares. How? Because she believes in LOVE. Probably the writers couldn't find any reason to how Diana could kill Ares, so chose to go the Love way. That's too cliched and stupid. To be specific, it's romantic love. Not mother's love or any other kind of love. It would be apt to call the Amazons and especially Diana as Hypocrites. Not noble warriors.

There are a lot other plotholes too. One could write a book with all of them.

In terms of casting, very poor. I don't know why a lot of people celebrated this film and Gadot. She looks like a Cosplayer dressed as wonder woman. She is neither an actor. She is a model who had some military training. Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis - they are actors. Gadot is totally unfit for this role. Her action scenes where so dull. She is just stretching her legs and doing some gymnastics. Heard people praising her for doing this role while she was pregnant. Who asked her to do at the time? Take maternity leave, deliver the baby and return to work once she is back to form. Don't know how long do I have to brace myself and watch her being cast as Wonder Woman. No wonder why DC films can't compete with Marvel. One of the reasons for Marvel film's success is their casting. Like the Actors were born to play the character.

Moreover Captain America The First Avenger has a lot of similarities to Wonder Woman in terms of story and characters. Only stark difference is Captain America is a good film, while Wonder Woman is second worst in DC following Suicide Squad.

The only aspects that were commendable here are the cinematography and the background score. Otherwise this is a one-time watch film to be watched only for a continuity in Justice League story.

Suicide Squad (2016)

Disgustingly stupid superhero movie
8 December 2021
Warner Bros. Successfully demonstrated that they are no match for Disney. They are not even in the league. I've seen a lot of mindless action movies that were still entertaining. But this thing, I don't even know what this is. Probably this might be the reason why Thanos of 2014 would enjoy destroying earth.

The only good thing here that deserved a 4 star rating, is casting Viola Davis and Margot Robbie. Everybody else is absolutely miscast. More aptly, unnecessarily cast. Katana, Killer Croc, Captain Boomerang & Slipknot have completely no job here. Just posing for the camera, I guess. Will Smith didn't fit in Deadshot. Enchantress should be the most stupid magical being ever. One could have sweet-talked her to kill herself. Above all, the way Joker was treated here, even Batman will might go into a killing spree.

Soundtrack is all loud and baseless. Maybe Warner Bros should sell DC comics to Disney as well. Damn sure they will do a pretty decent job with it.

A rather bland movie
4 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The idea is good. But on screen it's too slow to evoke any response. Honestly there's nothing here to scare at all. Even the demon itself seems stupid. It has telekinetic and telepathic abilities, it wants the Protagonist to die, but doesn't want to get the blood on it's hand. Spoiler - that so called demon is invisible till the end of the movie.

Lot of people kept praising Rebecca Hall's acting, but it's a horror movie at first. What's the use of an actor giving great performance when the movie is bland to a fault.

Bodyguard (2018)

Sierra Zulu 7-9, Lavender is good to watch
29 November 2021
There are two reasons why most people would have watched this show. Firstly, for our King in the North being the Lead and second, it's being marketed outside UK as the highest watched British TV series in recent years. But I guess the reason for high views is actually the first reason, Richard Madden. As it's obvious, he plays a Bodyguard and he nailed it. Whether his stoic expression while on duty or his progressive PTSD in private, he does a splendid job. Kudos to the writers, for writing a intricate plot with a multitude of threats in a sensible manner despite a few loopholes here and there. Richard's character PS Budd must be having a hell of a time dealing with them all. The police procedurals were intriguing to watch. But what's wrong here is it feels too monotonous. Not the bingewatch type of show. Even the clever twist at the end doesn't impact much. Overall it's a decent political thriller that's worth a watch.

Disappointing Adaptation
12 November 2021
I've neither read the comics nor played the video game. But I did watch the game's story in YouTube. Even to me, this adaptation is pretty disappointing. The Injustice Storyline is quite a long one. A web/tv series is the best way to tell this one. Not a 75mins film. Lots of important characters have been either removed or wasted. Even the main ones don't have a proper character arc. The film is too fast that it doesn't make any impact. The character deaths, the action scenes and the conversations that are supposed to be profound didn't have any emotional depth. The animations are also pretty bad.

Reputation of the Comics and video game created High expectations that were met with a Disappointing Adaptation.

An Average starter in the Navarasa Cuisine

A dull one. It seemed like there were some profound questions being asked, but then they all seem a bit unnecessary and dispassionate. Doesn't create a good First impression.

Caution - The next episode is worse. Better skip to 3rd.

A Decently Entertaining Escapist watch
21 October 2021
It's the kind of film which is best suited to distract you on a rather boring mundane Sunday. A Frivolous film with a good casting. Though Ryan and Taika did a pretty good job at entertaining the audience, the film is dispassionate to a fault. Like u felt something but can't say what.

Dull
15 October 2021
Binge-watched and then be like "THAT'S IT!!?". It's disappointing that people are still stuck to these cliches. The romance, humor and even the tension in the workplace seem forced. Honestly it seems like a version of Little Things with no emotional depth.

A One Time Watchable Average film

A Predictable and Cliched Storyline. The screenplay is slow, the soundtrack is out of place. Kind of feels more like a TV show than a Movie, probably due to production restraints.

Lookout for the action scene that takes place inside a Plane between Charlize Theron's and Kiki Layne's character. Well choreographed one. Probably its the only scene that's good enough to attract viewers which is also available in YouTube marketed by Netflix.

Other than that, there is nothing great here worthy of a Sequel.
