Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Poor.
I think most people watch this out of nostalgic reasons for TNG, including me.
It's dire, the writing is amateurish. Asking why his son has an English accent and being told he spent some time in London was pointless, why did we need to know this.
The production, more pointedly the lighting was silly. Why do we need everything gloomy. I know there's an energy crisis but couldn't they afford a few lighting rigs?
Finally, in season 3, episode 4 power is running out, they're making savings by getting crew to congregate in common areas and yet Picard takes his don into the holodeck. Really?
It's worth watching just to see Jeri Ryan.
Holes (2003)
Forced by kids to watch it...
A very decent film full of stars that don't overwhelm the story and detract from the young actors.
We watched on the recommendation of the kids, good choice. But the plot...it's so full of....
The Mandalorian: Chapter 8: Redemption (2019)
Script editing?
The speech given by the boss of the Stormtroopers, while they were assembling the super vapouriser gun, he mentions "Similar ordinance "
The word for guns/weapons is "Ordnance"
"Ordinance" is a given order.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Poor script
The script is aimed at my 5 year old child. It is poor in that it explains the action just before it's about to happen.
As for the 7th episode, when we're the shooters going to realise they could not get through the robots force field, never it would seem.
24 Little Hours (2020)
Rubbish sound
What an absolute load of tosh.
I have experience in the legal system so the police woman spending her entire time in an interview room with suspects and witnesses being rolled in and out is silly. Not a single witness made a statement that was signed.
The armed police were tubby old men and just walked in a row like ducks at the fair waiting to be shot.
The film was shot on an upmarket handy cam, maybe the sound was recorded on the onboard mike because it was abysmal.
It's the sort of film you watch and have to stay with because it's so bad.
The Losers (2010)
Cliche driven
They've dragged every military cliche out of the handbook with this film.
Stupid opening ten minutes with a soldier smashing a laser machine with his rifle butt, don't they just turn off.
And then they're stood looking at a school bus wondering if they could use it to evacuate children while a jet is seconds away with a few bombs to drip on their heads.
The stupid macho dialogue gets worse until you have to turn it off.
His knows what the actors think when they read the script. Oh I know, how much?
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)
Bloated
I forgot how long this film was. What a bloated piece of work. The shuttle craft tour with Kirk and Scotty was way too long, the flight inside the entity was also stretched out to a long yawn.
I could have edited this down to about 2 hours.
