So strange, refreshing and heartwarming
4 October 2022
I love quirky movies, but I was very surprised at this one. I didn't think I would enjoy it so much. It was definitely strange and quirky, but that was the charm that made this movie so good. The movie is a great example of it doesn't have to cost a lot of money, just have a screenplay and make it entertaining. I like special effects every once in a while, but if you give me a choice, I will take great writing over special effects any day. I don't want to give anything away because everybody should experience this one, but don't be surprised when you find yourself rooting for a friendship that is so unconventional.

Better Get Better

What is up Apple + with this series? I'm not sure who gave this series the green light, but they are not a sci-fi fan. I've watched 3 episodes and it is so slow.

Perfect Cast
8 June 2021
The casting for this series was spot on. They couldn't have picked a better cast of actors to portray the characters. I can't wait to see what happens in season 2.

Warrior Nun???
12 July 2020
Wouldn't one assume a Warrior Nun, would be a Warrior? This series moves extremely slow and if not for Toya Turner, it wouldn't be watchable at all. The main character never builds to the point that I care about her, as a matter of fact, I was hoping she might get killed off. If all other series in your playlist have been exhausted then go ahead and push play, otherwise find something else to watch.

"Warrior" Nun??

Not a good start...with a title like Warrior Nun, wouldn't one think there would be more action sequences?

Edgar Allan Poe

Are we 100% sure Edgar Allan Poe didn't write and direct this movie. This is exactly like something Poe would have written. Good movie and a nice change of pace.

Great concept...Story fell short
10 January 2019
I love this idea of a "Choose Your Own Adventure" concept. As a kid, I was a big fan of those books. The story fell a tad short with me. I love the Black Mirror series. Even the worst of shows are still pretty good, and I think this one is no exception. This is still worth watching, but don't expect one of their best stories.

Seen them all

I've seen all the Godzilla movies....this one keeps me coming back. Godzilla flying through the air with a kick never gets old! I know this is about as bad a film can get, but this is the one I watch over and over.

Great addition
23 June 2018
This was a great addition to the franchise. I hope they continue making them. My biggest complaint is that I thought Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm would be in it more. That was the only disappointing thing about it.

Best This Year!
13 October 2012
I see A LOT of movies. This is definitely the best I've seen in 2012. Ben Affleck has found his niche in the historical movies genre. It was extremely well made and should earn an Oscar in many areas. Kudos to the cast and the directing. The imagery was outstanding and was magnificent. The "feel" of being in the late seventies, even the old Warner Brothers logo at the beginning, was spot-on. I hope this movie does well in the theaters so that there will be more like this one. I'm not sure how much money this film cost, but it was worth every penny. Perhaps the studios will focus more on these types of projects than some of the stuff that has been coming out recently. Argo should go down in the books as the way a movie should be made.

more of the same
21 May 2011
More of the same...but what is wrong with that! You will never have a better time than when you watch Pirates of the Caribbean. This movie was blessed with a super cast. I'm always surprised at how good the story lines are. Johnny Depp owns the character of Jack Sparrow. They will never find a replacement for him. I chose to see the showing that was not in 3-D. I'm not a 3-D fan because it has never justified the $3.00 extra per person. I hope that everyone gets a chance to see this film and have the chance to enjoy it as much as I did. You will not be disappointed with this film. I can only hope that they have a fifth installment in this series.

Good storyline
2 April 2011
First of all I was intrigued with the trailer for this movie when I first saw it. It was on my list of movies to see. So while the kids went to see HOP with their mom, I went to see Source Code and was not disappointed. This movie had a terrific storyline. I think I was glad to see a movie with a good original idea. Most movies I am looking at my watch 3/4 way through, but not with this movie. I was wanting more. There were some unanswered questions, but for the most part I was okay with that because with this kind of storyline I would think it was impossible to fill all the gaps. I thought the ending was good and wasn't left open like some movies do today hoping for the numbers to bring back a sequel. If you want to see a good thriller and a movie that has a good plot then see this...I don't think you will regret it.

Same song - second verse
26 March 2011
Same song - second verse... Of course that doesn't mean it is bad. Some songs have a better second verse. I liked this movie. I find it hard not to like the family in this movie. I'm a school teacher and this book series is extremely popular with 8-12 year olds. I watched the first movie and found it to be better than I would have expected. This movie didn't give me the same feeling. Maybe the surprise was over or maybe it wasn't as good a storyline, but I like the first movie better. I noticed my kids didn't laugh as much during this movie and they both said they liked the first one better, but they were glad they saw Rodick Rules, of course they are both fans of the book series. If you have kids that are into this series then you need to take them to see the movie. I'm sure they will thank you for it.

Visual effects galore
26 March 2011
First of all you don't go to this kind of movie expecting an engaging storyline. You see a Snyder movie to watch the visual effects. I wasn't too sure about it at first, but it really grew on me. There were some questions that went unanswered and I really wish they had developed the characters more so that I had more invested in what happened to them, but like I said effects... not plot was the focus. It seems like in the move industry it is either effects or storyline, but never both and when there is a tinge of the two it is because there was a book or graphic novel first and it isn't an original story. I might be the only one that feels that way, but I don't think so. I had a good time watching this. I just hope that Snyder does a little more with the plot next time so that I don't leave scratching my head about some scenes.

Had to think about this one
12 March 2011
Before writing I had to think really hard how much I liked this movie. I really want to give it a higher score, but can't bring myself to give it a score over 7/10. The plot was generic and I wasn't impressed with some of the acting. I did like the visual effects. By saying that I mean the explosions. If you like explosions then this movie is for you. The pyrotechnics team made a fortune from this film. I was let down by the aliens. I felt like I was seeing alien outlines most of the movie and not seeing them up close. This movie was made in "Shakavision" most of the time. You see the aliens through a gun scope 70% of the time. This is not to say that you won't see the aliens up close, just not enough for me. I did like the alien forms, they were a little different, but not enough to go down in alien movie history though. This is a good matinée and not bad for an early March movie. This isn't Independence Day, but it is a movie about aliens.

Original
12 March 2011
I thought this movie really had a good chance from the beginning. It was promoted well and had an original idea, although the plot wasn't. I thought it was a good twist on a Shakespeare classic for kids. The one liners were cute and I can't say I've ever seen a movie the used gnomes as characters. Now with that being said I did get a bit tired of it half way through. I felt like it was getting too predictable and a bit boring. My kids felt the same way by the end of the movie. The 3D was good. I'm not much on 3D, I think it is way too over-rated, but it had some good moments in this movie. If your looking for a kid's movie then this might be an entreating one for them, just don't expect too much though.

Just Average
12 March 2011
Well what do you say about a fairy tale that every child knows that is made into a movie...let me think... Wait I know... Let's change the entire plot into a teenage movie about a werewolf! You really can't blame the writers because the studio gave it the green light. The movie really wasn't that bad, but could have been so much more. I hope someone comes along and does this fairy tale justice and makes a great movie. The acting was below average and the special effects were blah considering effects can be really good these days. The ending was terrible. I did like the mystery of who the wolf was, just not in a fairy tale setting. I think if I had to do it over again I would have rented this on Bluray. The whole family went to see this so it was 4 tickets, the Bluray rental would have been easier on the pocketbook with this movie. If you are absolutely bored sitting at home then go see it, just don't expect to see a classic fairy tale made into a movie like the title suggests.

Rango (2011)
9/10
A real surprise
6 March 2011
I want to put this as simple as I can...Rango was great. I'm surprised that this movie came out so early in the Blockbuster season, it easily could be put into that category with a little more promotion. The animation was top notch and the voice-overs were spot on. They could not have had a better cast to voice the colorful characters in this adventure. While watching the movie I couldn't help but think of Blazing Saddles, of course for kids. The one thing I found upsetting was some profanity in the film, that really spoils some of the scenes. I wish films would't promote this language to kids, we have enough of it in society as it is, but now to start including it in films geared toward children is a little over the top. I am glad of one thing...it WASN'T in 3D. I was getting a little cross-eyed with all the 3D lately. I actually prefer to see films that are not 3D. I can't find the $3 overcharge justifiable. If you are looking for a great movie for kids or adults then Rango is the film you will want to go see. Outside of The King's Speech, this is the best movie I've seen so far in 2011.

Worth Watching
4 February 2011
I rarely see a movie that I tell others they need to see, but this is one of them. The plot and story are so well done that if giving time it could go down as a classic. Robert Duvall gave a performance that can only be done by Duvall. Bill Murray stepped out of his character role and brought to light a whole new acting side. This is a movie you can appreciate. It really is more than a movie...it is a story. The lesson I took away from this is that we never know what burdens other people are dealing with. It will teach you not to judge others and get to know a person and not their past. You can learn a few things about life with this movie. Then tell others what you have learned. Finally tell them to watch this movie.

Tangled (2010)

Thanks Disney
27 November 2010
I must admit that I enjoy Disney movies. They are always trying to push the envelope and outdo themselves each time they make a movie. You can always expect quality, after all they have been making movies for a long time and should know how to make it work by now. With that said Tangled will be a Disney classic. I was really happy to find a good movie dedicated to what Disney is best at...Princess movies. Rapunzel has never been one of my favorite fairy tales, so I wasn't too sure about this one. Well I'm glad I took a chance. They took the Rapunzel story and really built a great storyline and the characters were definitely likable, as they should be in a Disney movie. I took three 9 year old girls and an 11 year old boy to see this movie. They all enjoyed it, including myself. There is something for everybody. You just can't help but enjoy this new animated classic.

Gremlins (1984)
10/10
This was THE movie in 1984
23 November 2010
Back in 1984 I was a 11 year old just starting to learn to appreciate movies. In 1984 Gremlins was THE movie. It is the first movie, other than E.T. that had a strong commercial tie-in. I had all kinds of things that were Gremlin, specifically Gizmo related. My favorite was the the little Gizmos and Gremlins that you dropped into water and they grew really big. Man were those things slimy after they grew. No telling what kind of toxic chemicals I was touching with my bare hands. Oh the good old days, I can't help but give Gremlins a 10. It just wouldn't seem right if I gave it anything less. I normally don't like remakes, but I think this one would have potential with all the cool CGI out right now. Maybe Spielberg would even help with it.

The Walking Dead (2010–2022)

Worth Paying To See
8 November 2010
First of all I like zombie movies, but who doesn't? There have been many movies about the living dead that I found dumb and not worth the price of admission to see in a theater. Then there are others that I couldn't wait to come out on DVD. Then you have those that I would buy a ticket in advance to see on the Big Screen.

I know that The Walking Dead is on TV, but lets get to the gist of this review. I would pay good money to see this at the theater. This has a great storyline and great effects. This is A+ television. There aren't many TV episodes I would pay extra to see, but if I had to I would definitely pay for this show. AMC has really outdone itself and I would find it hard to find anything this good on TV at this time with this kind of pizazz. Thanks AMC and I hope you keep coming out with quality TV like this.

This is a TV classic!
2 November 2010
The scene with the shark is PRICELESS!!!! I bought this movie for my son when he was 5 years old. I had watched it when I was young, but didn't remember much about it. I found it in a $1 bin at Wal-Mart. That was the best dollar I've ever spent. My son wouldn't go anywhere without that DVD. He would watch it glued to the screen. I tried to show him other Batman TV shows, but nothing ever replaced this movie. When we watched it together the first time after buying the DVD, the scene with the shark was laugh-out loud funny. I'm not saying this to be cruel...it was a great scene! If you've never seen this movie and you are into B-rated material or just into classic TV or superheros, then this is a must watch!

boring..scary..boring...scary
27 October 2010
I had high hopes for this movie. I really enjoyed the first one, but didn't as much on the second. I don't think it was because of the script, but because I had seen it once already. I was actually anticipating things to happen when they did. That was the greatness for the first film, it was fresh.

I do think they did a good job tying the 1st and 2nd movie together. I thought the ending was (last minute or so) was ridiculous...people actually laughed at it as they rolled the credits. I really hope that wasn't what the director had in mind as the audience is leaving the theater.

I would recommend people see this if they want a treat this Halloween. I think if it came out at any other time the opening would not have gotten such good numbers. Happy Halloween!!!
