Damsel (2024)
What a stupid, stupid story
And I don't mean the fact that the lady saves herself, which is as stupid as a guy saving the lady, from a superior force. But evrybody is a moron, including the dragon. Fortunately there are unexplained lifesaving lightgiving uncomplaining little gods or something, to save the day. Who wrote this simpleton stuff. And how unwonderful that Milly walks away from a burning castle full of mostly innocent victims. Evil has won, she is a massmurderer now, or something.
The whole story is stupid. Dragons young get killed. She could destroy the people responsible and their family, but doesnt, because they make a deal that they sacrifice three women once a generation. But she still hates that same family unrelentlessly. Who continu murdering young ladies, sacrificing them to the dragon. One of them is Millie. Her loving father had sold her to the evil queen to be a sacrifice. Later he feels bad about it and attempts to rescue her, which of course doesnt work, all guys get killed. But ok, None of the previous young ladies survived, but Milly apparently although she screams a lot is stronger, quicker and more intelligent. And although the dragon can kill a man in harness by just breathing or stepping on him, Milly can just walk up to her and stab her. Dragon hates her, but when Millie nearly kills her by first stabbing her here and there, and then reflecting the firebreath that came out of the dragon back onto the dragon, by way of a roughly concave but very uneven and quite layered surface , who apparently is not immune to her own fire, pretty silly if you ask me, she changes her mind and throws some lightgiving magical creatures on her. Those creatures first hung on some ceiling but just that moment have migrated to a puddle nearby, so convenient. Which heals, and makes the dragon fall in love with her. First the dragon kills eveyone in the courtyard of the castle, then burns down the whole castle, then flies home with Milly to her own unpleasant home, leaving her dead young behind. Probably the treasures were taken by Millie.
The only person with an, abeit crude, character development is Stepmother, who turns from a vapid statusjunkie into something heroic. The reason was that she did not trust the queen anymore after she stepped on her ego.
It was sort of fascinating to see what stupid things the writers would come up with next. And the visuals were ok. I did feel sorry for the actors.
The idea of a young lady saving herself it a good idea but the stupid writing butchered any p ossibilityof an actual g ood story. I wonder if the writers were men maybe..
Leave the World Behind (2023)
Very good, not for everyone
Very well acted. So happy this film made it, it is different and up till a point unpredictable. Characters are not standard, so refreshing. Why should a film have a certain ending? Or be made into an endless series? It was an entertaining watch and ceetainly thought provoking.
There was a lot of creepiness, the girl, the tension between the people, the spaces between the floors, the animals, the cars, but apart from some body horror most of the movie was talking and beautiful shots.
The possible explanation of what happened was very uncomfortable. I believe it is already happening.. in that way it is a similar movie to the one with the comet coming and nobody cares.
And Just Like That... (2021)
Worth watching
I liked it. I even enjoyed it. They gave me the feeling of real people, more than in the original series. Of course lots of people think its okto bash it because of wokism or something but I liked the rainbow stuff. The series helped to relax my head, not thinking but enjoying the small troubles of some rich people with gorgeous dresses. I think it was made for me. I dont spend anything on clothes, shoes, bags, dinners or lunches but its fine watching seriespeople do that.
I always liked Carrie the least, being totally selfish and nagging and wasting her life for uncomfortable shoes. Why, why? Hoe come that at 50+ she does not have any backaches, sore feet, any physical troubles at all? Because she is a fairytale part of ourselves of course. And so are the others, all parts of us.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
Science fiction as I love it best
A new planet, androids, mystery, what is not to love? I am halfway now but even if the finale would suck, the images and story are great so far and I love Mother.
The Dark Tower (2017)
Story is gone, but I love the play
Ok, I can't really find the wonderful books in this movie, but I enjoyed just watching Idris and Matthew play these lone wolf and alfa male roles. So yeah, story is so/so but the view is great. If you want story, read the bookS!
In the Shadow of the Moon (2019)
Nice enough
Gaze afar, mind to zero, is what we say here. Entertaining, full of plotholes, no characterdevelopment. But well, as my friend said. Timetravel is tricky.
Flesh and Blood (2020)
Nice and predictable
From the first minute it was quite clear who did it, after five minutes who died, and in the last half hour what would happen. So, I watched the first half hour of ep 1 and the last of the last ep. very predictable, but cosy.
and, I like good old english family drama, so, enjoyed it. 4 whole episodes would have been too much of it.
Closer (2004)
One of the best movies ever
Beautiful people, beautiful language, deep, raw, emotional horror and stuff
Deadly Class (2018)
Likable but too bloody
I liked all of the jokes, the eighties setup, but the violence and killing was way over the top. Ok its from a comic I guess. But the end is very disappointing. Dont watch the last episode.
Valley of the Gods (2019)
This is art
I loved the unpredictability. That I could feel meaning, without immediately understanding anything. And wonderful images. And John Malkovich.
Nightflyers (2018)
Unpredictable, love it
I love the trippy moving down corridors, floating, sound effects, colours..it is a work of art. It really takes me into another world. Actually i could not get much into the Expanse, was a bit predictable, so my taste is not average. I guess most people like predictable. this is not. Well, maybe that things get worse all the time. I would have given a 10 if it was not that gloomy all the time.
I adore the Lommie character, she is quite deep. And Auggie. The others are so-so, a bit flat.
