Heroes (2006)
Heroes feels like a Parody of itself -SPOILERS for Season 3-
I think I'm kinda done with this show...I'm on disc 6 of last season (3) and the writing has gotten worse, the storyline/s(?) is/are LAME, and I can't stand the bad guy dude....and though I have issues with all the power you've given him, Sylar is the one shining beacon left on the show, but you've left no one to be his equal to keep him at bay and rely only his own restraint...boring, but still, he seems to be the only one who has a clear agenda, and one, I might add that he's had from the beginning of the series...so you know, good on him.
But the "Sylar tries to atone" storyline would have been a good season arc...it would have been a great thing to mix with his relationship with HRG.
And I'm really tired of using Claire, (cool as she is), as a way to keep the show "on track"....and how is it possible you've ruined HRG?
Though I almost got a kick out of Sylar's plan to "destroy" Noah Bennet, (which could have been a great story arc over the course of the season, if written better), but really, giving Sylar the shape-shifting power just gives him WAY too much power and he's WAY too strong to justify him not just taking over completely...he's invincible, has super hearing, telekinetic, has the power of vocal manipulation, and can look like anything/one he wants...oh and let's not forget the virtual reality and nuclear powers...why is he still hiding? And taking away Peter's original power...what the hell? He was the only one who could match Sylar...some of the best scenes were between the two of them!
And giving Suresh powers, interesting, but what would have been REALLY interesting is if you had taken them back, thus giving him insight to those with power, and gaining a new perspective in his research. Now he has powers, but what's the point...he was our link to the human side of this, he was the heart, the one who asked the questions for the viewers.
AND WHY kill Adam Monroe! He would have been a GREAT regular villain!
And it seems like the actors are doing the best they can with the dialog and story but in doing so the acting feels over dramatic and almost laughable it's like the show's become a parody of itself.
Anyway, I'm going to finish this disc and see how I feel, but I'm leaning towards dropping it.
Thanks for ruining a perfectly incredible and original show and turning it into a cheap cliché. I've gone from waiting with baited breath for the next episode to tentatively pushing play and hoping for the best.
(And you can't blame the writer's strike on this anymore...not that you ever could, all you had to do was pick ONE storyline, stick with it and make it happen...it's like you just put ideas that had a vague similarity but no real cohesion in a hat and picked randomly for each show. Or did you just give up?)
Well, thanks for 3 good seasons anyway.
Push (2009)
Loved It!!
I loved this movie it was fun and entertaining, and I really enjoyed the little details that you had to listen to or pay attention to. I don't go to movie theaters very often anymore, as I can't justify paying the outrageous prices, but this one was worth the money for sure! I was pleasantly surprised, it was better than I had hoped!
Dakota Fanning was great and kind of reminded me of a combination of a younger Drew Barrymore and Natalie Portman, Chris Evans was great as an action hero, believable and wonderfully portrayed the desperate and clever schemes of the story, and it's always great to see Djimon Hounsou, I have yet to watch him and be disappointed, he's simply amazing(!).
This film kept you guessing, even before you knew you were, it was an engaging action/drama with a clever wit. There aren't many action movies that you have to pay such close attention to, but this one kept me attentive as well as in and on the edge of my seat with anticipation. It was fun to watch I only hope there's a sequel! I can't wait to see it again!
Life on Mars (2006)
DVD yet?
Love the show and want to buy the DVD, but from what I can tell it hasn't been released in America yet. Am I wrong about this? If not, do we know WHEN the DVD is set for American release?
All I can seem to find is Region 2 - that's not good for American release right?
Any tips would be appreciated!
Thanks!
(now i'm just filling space to satisfy the 10 line minimum to "publish" my comment, so you don't have to read this, as i'm only babbling to please the IMDb Gods....this is so ridiculous....but there's probably a reason so I'll just keep typing for another line and hope that the IMDb Gods will be satisfied with my offering)
Friday the 13th: The Series (1987)
So Great, So Short, So Unforgettable! (so why's it not on DVD yet?)
I absolutely LOVED this show, I have been waiting patiently for the series to be released on DVD...it is definitely a must own for anyone who enjoys the genre. Creepy, fun and fantastical....
It was a great show, I didn't miss one episode. It would have been great to have more of it but it was sweet to have it while we did....can you think of any other shows that were of that ilk before or since??
PS: If you, who decide what to release on DVD, could answer one question....why, if you feel justified putting ALF in disc, why not this show? I mean, ALF? Really? Come ON!
The Circle (2005)
The Circle, A REAL Independent
Very unusual experience this film. Refreshingly, I didn't know what to expect at any given moment. The energy of the film was almost gorilla-like. The filming of the movie seemed very raw and simplistic, with a mysterious feel. I found myself eerily captivated. And the most interesting part is the dialog, simple, yet if you don't pay attention, you miss so much, even the most inane conversation is important to the plot line, brilliant! This is the first truly independent film I've seen in years. I recommend this film to anyone tired of the clean Hollywood feel of so called "independent films" these days. If you want an honest, no frills movie experience, check out this movie, you won't know WHAT hit you when your done!
