absolutely no flaw
18 May 2024
What really is there to say about this show...other than it's simply phenomenal...

once you start you just can't stop...it's everything you'd want in a story...it's interesting...well paced...well written...well acted...well shot...it's just fantastic...

I've heard people talking about how the cinematography is underrated...i quite frankly didn't even notice it...because i was too busy being blown away by the story...

my favourite part about this show...has to be the acting...the actors don't miss a beat!...not a single one...i definitely believe every single character on here...Dr Thalkary...i don't even know if that's how it's written...the actor who played him is just a gem...

usually the best acting is showcased in the supporting cast...but here...the lead just steals the show...probably the best lead or protagonist ever put to screen...yes i said it...

i can't think of a single flaw...it's just perfection from start to finish...

i actually despise hospital dramas...or any kind of show set in a hospital...and i actually put off watching this thinking it's one of them...i am soo glad i decided to give it a try...

pacing pacing pacing...
18 May 2024
Pacing pacing pacing...jesus Lord!!

This show rushes all the parts that should be methodical and slow...and focuses on all the useless things...

the first episode is schizophrenic...one thing happens and before it's even ended properly...another has begun!.

Give the audience some time to digest and take everything in!...i mean even the characters look dazed...there's only one episode...literally one episode...that actually takes the time to build up to something...

everything is shoved at you...it's like Tiktok...they're soo Terrified that you might be losing attention...so they shove some high octane nonsense your way...

there's some good elements here no doubt...but i probably wouldn't have seen the whole season if I wasn't watching it with someone else...

i guess this is just another...pile of nothing for the masses...

they didn't care enough
18 May 2024
Immediately i saw two episodes of this...i knew immediately that it was one of those shows...the shows that weren't lucky enough to get good enough writers...didn't get producers that actually cared enough...

there's soo much to work with here...soo much...you have history...all you have to do is bend it to your will...it's soo easy...just take history...throw away the boring bits...and add color to what's left...it's the simplest writing job of all time...

but of course they couldn't do it...they just muddled it up it nothing...

the time jumps...jesus Christ!!...this is the worst part of the show...it kills the plot the flow of story...and makes it that much difficult to follow...you keep forgetting who is who...by the fifth episode you can't remember who is who from looking alone...you have to wait for another character to call them...it's ridiculous...

the most interesting bits happen off screen...so you guess what's left...

there's soo much that is dumbed down...i mean come on...this isn't just aimed at American audiences is it?

sublime
18 May 2024
It's probably too long...i mean yes there's alot to unpack here...so it makes complete sense that you'd have ten episodes...but i believe this could have been told in about six...to make it more compact and stronger...

i am a sucker for documentaries...and this one right here...is top-tier...it has everything you'd want in a documentary...it's interesting informative impactful and actually has something to say...

i like absolutely everything about it...the interviews are well done...the narration is great...it's a nice emotional story...

i don't know if there's more to be said...or if more SHOULD be said... that's just it...straight and simple...it's perfect...

too repetitive
24 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
RENO is it funny? Yes...this show's biggest problem is that it's too repetitive...it's a one trick pony...once you've seen five episodes.

.that's it...you've seen it all...

and that's really all there is to say about this show...it should only have had five episodes...

the running gag where they have the same version of a cold open where they run into something and the airbag pops out...yes...it's funny...very funny actually...but it gets old pretty quick...t

that's not how to do s running gag...as soon as it starts you already know how it ends...you just want to skip it...a running gag should be shorter...that whole thing runs for too long...

the choice of graphics...makes sense...it suits the type of story...but it does nothing for novelty...nothing looks attractive...it's just depressing...and it's been on for like 8 and more seasons...

the characters are caricatures...unless the writer wants them to do something they do...and then it's back to their normal shallow one dimensional selves...

not impressive at all...

a rare fantastic cartoon
24 March 2024
Not very bad actually...but then again it's hardly the kind of show for me...so not speaking as an adult who has overgrown the jokes...speaking objectively...it's actually very good show!

It's reminiscent of late 90s early 2000s cartoons...creative exhilarating and fun with actual plot and story...

i like the structure...it's almost half serialised half stand alone...it's a great mixture of both...

the pacing is great...the jokes are good...visually it's very stunning...it's not a new concept...but it feels very original...it really is a perfect cartoon.

Kids nowadays don't really have quality...cartoons have been watered down...they're empty soulless and cheap...it's really good to see a gem like this come around once in a while...

great show...great watch...

too big for their writers
24 March 2024
BORGIA i feel like the perfect way to describe this show...is it took on too much...the story was waay too big too grandiose for them...

the source material...which might be history itself or some book...was fantastic...actualizing it therefore meant it was always going to be a big ask...

they did try though...the writing isn't too bad...but i feel like they're feeding the audience a bit too much at a time...it feels almost like the first 30 minutes of Game of thrones...where too much was happening too fast...

the biggest flaw in my opinion is the acting...these actors failed to portray these characters...they failed miserably...i don't believe any character here...maybe Borgia himself...but his two sons...nope...the cast wasn't talented enough for me...

the pacing is also off...feels like there's too much lingering on insignificant stuff...it feels slow...

the dialogue is also not exactly bad...but it's just not good enough...i guess this too is to be blamed on the acting...

falls apart
24 March 2024
It started off soo well...it had soo much promise...halfway through...you could already tell it was doomed...

it's hard not to talk about the other show BORGIA that is more or less telling the same story...it's hard not to compare these two...

many people agree that the other show was better and i go agree yes...but where the other show tried to tell the story of the borgia family in totality taking account the full context and history...this show picked and chose only what served their story...and i controversially support that decision...

it ensured that they could tell the story their own way on their own terms...and it was going great...until it wasn't...somewhere it started to feel like something was missing...

characters. Decisions didn't add up...choices did make sense...so the show's best quality came to bite it's own head...

the pacing isn't great...they also do linger on insignificant stuff...just like the other show...

the dialogue here though is pretty good...it's well written...the handling of plot though isn't...there's repetition of story beats...dialogue about sabotage instead of being wholesome will be divided into two parts making the second feel like a repetition...

not very well actualized...

not a single flaw
24 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I keep saying this...comedies are the most simple things to rate or critique...it's just as simple as figuring out...is it funny or not...and this show...is DEFINITELY funny...

i guess other people's perspectives are really a mystery...i don't really understand how iMDb ratings work...but i can NOT believe that as many people that saw this show and rated it didn't think it was the best comedy they'd ever seen!

So what it's got a few clichés on motherhood and how hard it is to be a mum...this story has been told a million times before...but watching this i didn't feel like i was tired...i enjoyed it just the same...

i like the characters...a few are a little unbelievable yes...but they're good well written...the pacing is great the tone is fantastic...

the running gags...like Julia always running back to her mum are hilarious...Cunk or whatever her real name is...she's gold!!...her lines always land...she's the cheat code...

i like that it has something more to say about life...it's not just a show about running around trying not to kill your kids...it exposes human interaction dynamics and how to find balance in life...

Julia actually has some character growth...that's a fine detail for a comedy...o absolutely love this show...i don't get why everyone else isn't going crazy about it...

beautiful beautiful exploration of existence
22 March 2024
This is a show about the awkward and uncomfortable moments in the beats in between what we call life...it's a show without any excitement whatsoever...

it's got nothing interesting at all...it's raw visceral and it hurts to watch...every scene resonates with every moment you ever felt sad stupid ignored or useless...it's beautiful...it's like peeking into someone's real thoughts and feelings...not what they present...

it's a show about those moments that Instagram will never see...you'll post videos of your wedding your happiest day it's fantastic...but this show is about what you're thinking...what if she becomes fat...what if he dies too soon...what if i rushed into this...what if he becomes an alcoholic...what if we have blind kids...

yes! I know!...and yet it's a comedy!...how wonderful is that...it's about laughing at how messed up existence is...

the brainchild of Louis C. K...who would have guessed?!...i don't really like his comedy I'm not too sure about him as a comedian...but after this show...I'm pretty sure I've been missing something this whole time...I'm going to rewatch every special every show of his...starting with Louie...a family comedy...uuurghh!...it better be worth it...

the writing is good...the tone is fantastic...the pacing is fittingly slow...the cinematography is good...

Uncle Pete was my favourite character...i was livid when they killed him off...but it had to happen...it was all part of the theme of the show...

the last episode was painful to watch though...it nearly made me change my rating...it was terrible almost unwatchable...it was full of clichés and felt rushed...it was not the ending this show deserved...

that's literally the only flaw with this show...

get better writers...soo much potential
22 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This show is very exciting...and i will never get tired of mentioning just how refreshing it is when something different comes along...something fresh that actually makes you look at things different...or gives you new information to ponder...

it's a break from what we're used to...to experience a different culture...i like that they went with rock not some rnb mellow stuff...

but then just after that you can't help but be very mad at how badly the whole thing was handled...the writing is extremely weak...

soo sooo much potential here...if they'd gotten better writers...like the Bill Hader or whoever wrote Tehran...then we'd have had a gem on our hands...

but everything feels half done half baked half hearted...character development is shaky shallow and unconvincing...the plot always feels like it's missing something...

some things happen that are cliché others too convenient...like the reunion towards the end of the first season...it's all too quick...no authentic emotion is put into it...it's like an essays...something bad happens band breaks up they're sad they get together everyone's happy...but it doesn't translate...we don't see the raw emotion of all these events...

Amina realising that she wants to do music...is handled soo cheaply...this is supposed to be an existential crisis...Saira getting her grip on her psyche and opening up...this should have weight...there was even a heartbreak and we didn't feel sad...

wasted potential...too rushed...get better writers...but watchable...disappointing though...

wasted potential
19 March 2024
This show joins a long list of shows with immense potential...but fails in the execution...

but still its very painful and sad to see...such great story be desecrated disrespected mishandled...it's just annoying and frustrating...

the hardest part about creating a tv show...is finding the initial idea...the actual story...what story will you tell...so when you find stories like these...rich stories...it's really sad to see them go to waste...

the hard part is already done for you...just actualize it...find good writers who can pen down a decent script...it's not that hard surely!

The most annoying thing about this show...is how it just goes round in circles...it's never going anywhere...it takes three steps forward in plot...and the next 20 scenes is just it taking another 5 steps backward...

it's also guilty of trying to shoe in cliffhanger every episode...this trope is soooo annoying!!...we're soo past this as a civilisation jesus!!...the audience is tired of this!...just tell the story let it flow naturally...don't set anything up...you tend to write yourself into a corner that way...

wasted potential...

mob genre clichés
19 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I might be the only one on earth with this opinion...but i honestly don't and never understood this whole American fascination with the mob genre...

i think it's very limited...lacks any expansive capabilities as a story...and isn't even remotely relatable...it continues to be a favourite and i just don't get it....

another opinion that is surely only my own...my distaste in the crime boss genre is definitely why i rated Breaking Bad as a 7...because it's essentially a crime boss tv show...and that is why i think the first season of breaking bad was its best...because it was a story about a regular guy...very relatable...

This show has all the mob film clichés...the accents the demeanour even the dressing...and the only interesting thing about this show...is the visits to the shrink...and we get to see how Tony thinks his relationship to his family...you know...the relatable stuff!...and the other things i find very boring to be honest...

but that's just my take...

soooo slooooow!
10 March 2024
It is sooooo painfully slow!!?...30 minutes in and even i...someone who has never held a camera to direct anything...who no one even trusts to take good pictures...am confident i could squeeze in more story...

This is a show where nothing happens...or maybe three things happen every 6 episodes...nothing happens at all!!...remember how Breaking Bad and Better call Saul used to want to immerse you into the story emotionally?...this show is the result of what a grade 5 student tried to replicate after seeing that...

when i first saw it i immediately wanted to blame it on the writing...but then i realised that the writing isn't the problem...the story is good it's plausible...it's interesting...I actually want to know what happens...the plot I'm sure isn't bad as well...but i obviously can't comment on that accurately because i couldn't take 30 minutes of this garbage...

Breaking bad and better call Saul were slow too...and i didn't like that about them either...but at least they had a story to tell...this show has absolutely nothing to say...the plot is probably two pages worth...

This show is essentially watching characters do laundry clean their house drink coffee get in cars get out of cars walk up and down roads pavements paths...watch people do make up wake up sleep talk on the phone...and then there's something about murder...could be a serial killer...but we don't know...let's watch babies fall asleep some more...

This show has a perfect name...fall...fall for fall asleep...it's probably a sleeping pill in motion picture format...

pathetic dialogue
10 March 2024
This show is a fantastic showcase of dialogue...or to be more specific...a fantastic showcase of how NOT to do dialogue...

when i first saw it i immediately wanted to blame it on the writing...but then i realised that the writing isn't the problem...the story is good it's plausible...it's interesting...I actually want to know what happens...the plot I'm sure isn't bad as well...but i obviously can't comment on that accurately because i couldn't take 30 minutes of this garbage...

so i realised that the problem is the dialogue...it's not natural it's fake is bland it's tasteless it's boring it's pathetic it's annoying it's disgusting...people don't talk like that!

I wonder who wrote the dialogue for this show...maybe the problem is with the scriptwriter...was it a grade 5 child...that's my best guess...

two people will be in a scene spewing words that no human would ever utter...or order in that way whatsoever...

the dialogue is so bad it makes the actors look bad...they took what I'm assuming is the entire cast of Boardwalk Empire...the actors were fantastic did a great job on that show...but here they are made to look like morons amateurs untalented...this show probably affected their status in Hollywood...it is that bad...

also who did the casting...how is your lead the worst actor in the entire show...some side characters and people who only appeared in single scenes and episodes are waaay waaay better actors...the lead is the single worst actor i have ever witnessed...even worse than Selena Gomez in that other show...that says alot...

watch the first 10 minutes to have an ideas of what dialogue should NOT be like...

not funny
26 February 2024
Imdb flatters this show alot...it's rated waaay too high...

maybe it came out at a time when all the antics i see were good or expected...but i find it unbearable...

i always say that comedies are the easiest things to review...coz you only have to think about one thing...is it funny or not...and the answer to the question...is Cheers funny or not...the correct answer is a resounding no...

This is show bends too much towards the absurd...it's not funny because it tries too hard...it's unrealistic...everyone walks into the bar and greets everybody...everyone walks in and everybody cheers them...

it's not funny at all...it's the same premise...rinse repeat rinse repeat...Sam and the blonde chic always go through the same old cycle...the will they won't they done so pathetically...

not a good show...it's a waste of your time...

very little not to like
26 February 2024
I initially thought this was a season of the Netflix show explained...which is an inferior show by the way...which is probably not a fair thing to say...but it's essentially from the same producers and i assume writers...

This show is great...the narration is good...janelle monae...which sidenote in my own opinion i think is the prettiest name of a person there is...she's good...you want to listen to her...

the other show explained used a different narrator for each episode...which is a good idea as it makes each episode have its own feel and identity...but it opens itself to the shortcomings of one or two narrators ruining it and not being too engaging...

This show gets it right...you find a good narrator...stick with her...her voice is weirdly objective...like the voice over on a proper documentary...she might actually be the best part of the show...

each episode is about an issue that is relevant...it's told from a woman's perspective...which is a good idea...it's sex explained...from the eye of a woman...

there's only like two episodes i didn't really like...the rest were fantastic...

it's a great show...hardly anything not to like...well done very informative...i learnt a few things i had no idea about...it really is the urban legend...edutainment...it did the impossible...

it's really bad
18 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I always heard people talk about how hard it is to get invested in a show with characters that are not charismatic...characters you don't like...i always thought that was ridiculous...but then i realize now...i always figured those people were talking about despicable characters...and didn't like them on moral or behavioural grounds...

watching this show however...i realize now what they meant...this show has the one of the worst characters on screen i have EVER seen!...they're badly written...or maybe they aren't...i just don't find them interesting at all!!

I hate these characters...i hate hate hate hate them!...i hate their names i hate how they walk I hate how they talk i hate how they act i hate how they are i just hate absolutely everything about them!...

it's really had to like a story about people you hate...i just don't believe there's anything worth watching about these bunch of characters...if there is...i don't care at all!

Maybe it's just a preference thing...stereotypical poor white people's lives...not worth putting on screen...please Hollywood...maybe not all stories deserve to be told...

fantastic comedy.
18 February 2024
If there's anything soo easy to write a review about...it's a comedy...coz you only have to think about one thing...is it funny? If it's a yes...the show is great...if no it's a terrible show...simple...

This show is perfect...is it funny? Yes...definitely without a doubt...it's amazing...so this is definitely a gem...

a comedy is also not supposed to take itself too seriously and this show definitely does not...i mean what's not to like?!

It's very well written...the tone is great...it's a relatable story...it's a realistic take on romance...and it feels natural...it gives you a sense of these are real people in the real world...

in most sitcoms...for example Coupling...there's only even six characters depicted...they appear so isolated and they end up not being real characters...coz they don't exist in the real world....

the comedy is well executed...i don't think i have more to say...watch it...it's a fantastic watch...and it's consistent never loses quality...not a lot of shows can say that...

i don't get the Emmys
17 February 2024
I have watched and watched and rewatched and rewatched this show soo many times...I've seen all seasons...and I've held out on my review this long because i wanted to like it...oh i really wanted to like it...

for every episode...i kept hoping to see what everyone sees...why it gets soo much praise...and i swear i still don't get it...

i don't get why it's won soo many Emmys...i don't get why they keep sanctioning more seasons...i don't get why people watch it watched it are still watching it and probably will. Continue to watch it...

i feel like political dramas died in the 90s...it's probably the one genre that should only be done once...The West Wing started it all and if you ask me should have been the end of it all...

This show gets worse every season...the latter seasons are a collection of quick cuts and scenes just flying all over the screen...it's a shame to all directors out there...i hate it sooo much!!

The comedy is hit and miss...when it hits its good...when it misses God does it miss!...the best comparison i can give to this show now that i can...it's like Tiktok...people just talking in your face all quick and fast and then a new screen comes the concept repeats and that's the show...

i hate this show with all my soul...

rinse repeat
17 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
HALT this show is best described by two words...rinse repeat...that's not even a flaw...it's literally all that this show is about...

after watching two episodes...you've seen the entire show...because literally everything you just saw will be done again...about a dozen times...

joe has a thing with camron...they have a few good nights hang out have fun...Joe pushes Camron to do something great Camron gets mad storms finds out Joe was right all along...comes crawling back crying...

they get back to what they were doing Camron confronts joe about something has a great monologue about how terrible Joe is joe storms off comes back like three days later crying...

Gordon is enjoying his work his coworker says something stupid he gets mad rants about it makes some big decision calls a meeting makes a speech inspires everyone and it's all great until he makes a miscalculation and nearly makes a huge mistake...

this is what this whole show is about...these three plot points...and then rinse repeat...over and over and over again...mix in some tasteless marriage problems father son relationship and give the show a name...

whoever played Joe is a pathetic pathetic actor...he looks like a robot that learnt to breathe and talk...to mess up a character like this is a miracle...casting did a wonderful job...

there's nothing here...no story no intrigue no writing...it's just a pile of garbage held together by nonsense...

no substance
12 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This show reminds me so much of Wolf hall...it's not a surprise really...they share the same characters almost like for like...and yes...this show is the inferior one...

the biggest flaw here...is the acting...the acting is pathetic atrocious and beyond laughable into sad...the biggest most recognizable character...king Henry is the worst depicted...his character is played so badly you almost feel bad for him...

the casting was terrible terrible Terrible...you seriously couldn't find a decent actor to play Henry?!...shameful!

To prove that the acting is indeed bad...i will name only one character who was portrayed well...Wolsey...this is the only character portrayed with decent acting...every other character was disrespected by the actors...

This show gets lost in setting mood and costumes and showing aura...and sacrifices story...there's sooo very little story!...they just filled the run time with songs from the 13th century or whatever and forgot to tell the actual story!!

How do you ruin a story this obvious...if someone read this story aloud to an audience...it would still be interesting!...the actual story is shocking intriguing interesting...all you had to do was put in on screen...how hard can that be?!...Wolf hall did it...and it was telling only a portion of it...

pathetic pathetic pathetic!

not my thing
10 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Maybe it's just me...maybe i just don't like the whole black lifestyle thing...the whole black culture on tv thing...for some reason it just seems excessive to me...not real not authentic...how they're shown to talk and act and walk and move...is all this real?!

If it is...i just don't think it's cinematic...i never thought I'd ever say that...who knew there were things that we never meant for the screen?!...well this one is surely number one on that list... black culture should never be shown on screen... and only Kendrick should showcase it in music...

i don't like the characters...i can't relate to any of them... i can't relate to their motivations their goals their way of life... they don't feel like real people to me!... maybe it's coz I'm not American or black American...

maybe I'm not the right person to be writing a review like this... this show wasn't meant for me... i hate literally everything about it...

the pacing is good... the cinematography is good...the story doesn't seem too bad... a guy trying to make it... i just don't like how it's brought into life... its actualization...

This review should be taken for what it is... it's not an objective opinion about the show... it's just my own personal take... and i don't like it... i guess this id is one of those things... gotta see it to know it its your thing....

sn1...phenomenal!...sn 2 maybe a 7.
4 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
For the absolute perfect things...i like to start with the flaws...and this sublime masterpiece only has one...the very last episode of sn 1 when the chic hesitates and doesn't shoot the guy...

that is very poor form...i blame the director...s/he should have shot it better...make it more plausible...the guy is a complete threat to her a professional and very dangerous...she should be taking that shot and making sure it's to the head...

another flaw that isn't big enough to be a flaw...is when it turns out to be that the lady is a double agent and the leak...it comes completely out of nowhere and is a little bit unearned...it's a twist but it's too twisty...too big too sudden...but then suspended disbelief whisks that one away very quickly...it's the world of espionage anyway...

this show immediately jumps to second on my list of espionage shows...one below The Americans and one above The Spy...it is completely superb...

the pacing is great...the writing is great the acting is perfect...it is very well done...normally i have a problem with foreign shows coz i find subtitles soo exhausting...maybe it's coz they throw in a bit of English here...but this is the very first show that uses subtitles that i don't mind...the story eliminates all my qualms about it...

I'll also make a very bold claim...this show is a showcase of the best utilisation of Tension that i have ever seen on screen...the best of all time...

the first two episodes are filled with sooo much tension that i was almost bursting...i couldn't handle it...it was sooo sooo good!!...and it all made sense! Very plausible very believable...phenomenal!...those first 2 episodes feel like the last 2 episodes of an entire series! Perfection!!

A gem...an absolute gem! The rating is a. Shame!

A gem...an absolute gem! The rating is a. Shame!

Sn2 i see people giving it soo much praise...saying it's better than sn1...sn2 has better rating per episode too...but i don't get it...i think it's weaker actually...sn2 carries on with the flaws of sn1 and births some more...the last episode is sooo sooo pathetic...sn2 instead of creating a story to effect your emotions...it throws emotion in your face...feels almost like a bollywood drama.

watchable...but with lots of fast forward
2 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It's really hard to mess up a documentary...it's basically just telling the story as it was as it happened or is happening and don't do too much or too little...and you are goood...

this show is actually good...it does break one of the cardinal rules that applies to documentaries...it does too much...

this was meant to be a movie...or let me say it would have been actualized better as a movie...2hrs 30mins...this story would have been sold very very well...

i do get what they're going for however...i get the artistic choice here...it's a story about individuals at heart...and so we have to understand each individual intimately...it just ends up affecting the quality of the storytelling...

where it does too much is showing us unnecessary bits...we get up with a character drive 2hrs with him and prepare for a meeting attend the meeting and make a speech with a character...it's a great to immerse the audience in the world of the character...but is it really necessary...

i don't even know why I'm using character when it's a documentary...i guess just want to address what i call "the breaking bad syndrome"...what the shows breaking bad and better call saul did...over-indulging the audience...it slows down the plot...

the first episode is very very intriguing...it's an excellent pilot episode...sets the tone and it is full of suspense and tension...the 3rd episode is probably the worst...it's supposed to set up the last episode but it just ends up beating around goes nowhere and just feels like all of it is filler...

watchable...but with alot of fast-forwarding...it's telling a great interesting story though...
