The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
3.5 episodes watched.
BORING. If I were just grading the sets, effects and props I would give this a 10. I didn't like any of the characters except Durin. I stopped watching at the Queen reagent and Galadriel with the planteri and decided that this wasn't for me. This is my favorite genre which unfortunately saddens me, but I can see where people could enjoy this.
I would go on to say that if this show would have removed itself from the Tolkien franchise and presented itself as a stand alone production, it would have gotten a lot better reviews.
Why do I have to write a novel to submit this? Why do I have to write a novel to submit this?
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
I think a better title is...
Thor, a night at the improv.
Why, why, why does Hollywood always fall into the same pit? What made the first 3 phase's a success was partly the humor, not the only reason. This mess only had "humor" and left everything else out, you know things like plot, story, characters, you know the things that made the first 3 phases enjoyable.
There were 2 jokes I smiled at including even a chuckle. But for the life of me I can't remember what they were now.
I know I'm not even close to being a director, writer, producer or anything else regarding making movie, but I do know what I like, and subsequently what I am willing to pay for, this ain't it. Hollywood more is not always better. Less fall flat jokes more movie. Let's see if you can stay out of the same old trap sometime.
The Boys: The Last Time to Look on This World of Lies (2022)
Politics? Really?
I'm not talking about the show, but some of the comments on here.sure the show has a political motif, but happily IMHO it says every side is a fanatic. So I'm cool with it. No one in the series is sane with the exception of Starlight. So I'm cool with that. As far as the shock value of envelop pushing, I don't care one way or the other. It probably ads texture to the series, and some people may like it, but if it doesn't help out the plot or ad to the story, it's just fluff, nothing more nothing less.again (MHO). I like the show because of the characters, story, acting and it's really entertaining.
BTW, I am a conservative who really has no problem with this show. If I did I wouldn't watch it, but bringing politics in when everyone or a lot of us just needs a place to leave politics behind, and enjoy a good program isn't too much to ask for is it?
Only myself to blame I suppose, I made the error of being curious of other peoples insight to the show.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Is the Mandalorian season 3 out yet???
I really want to like this, and have not given up hope yet on it. I can appreciate that they made Obi-Wan a hot mental mess, who can only move upward from where he's at now, I even like Leia, but those foot chases...(phew! That was an embarrassment) I am unable to relate to the villains. The fight scenes, except for the pretty colored lights flashing around, (sarc) were boring. Tia and her droid pal bit the dust. I thought it was an Easter egg from her Game of thrones part. Her and mech droid had the most interesting arc in this season so far but oh well rest in Pieces Tia and droid buddy. There is a lot I can pick apart with the plot, acting and writing, but nothing that hasn't been already said by a plethora of other posts. I hope these last episodes will have some real drama and better action to offer.
BTW, (similar note) I actually liked the Book of Boba Fett right up until they brought in that dumb azzed bike gang. However, my first love is still The Mandalorian. Is season 3 out yet?🤔
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Top shelf. Let's hope it stays this way.
I am thoroughly enjoying this series. I don't think I've ever seen a ST series come out of the gate with both feet planted like this show has been, and I'm an old dude who watched the original show as they first appeared. It seems all the others had that awkward first year trying to refine the formula.
Just watched Serene Squall. It has become tied as my favorite so far along with Spock amok. If I had one criticism, it would be that #1 and Ortega hit the phaser pistol range cause they can't shoot straight to save....
Like what seems the popular consensus on the post I've read, Picard and Discovery were disappointing after the first year.
God's Favorite Idiot (2022)
Hypoxia, needs to slow down and take a breath.
Too much happening all the time makes any dialogue superficial. If you want to try and think what is going on during pivotal moments, the script just pass you and is now 3 scenes ahead of you. I actually think the premise could be very interesting if they stopped trying to make every sentence a one liner, put some serious moments in. Oh, and again, slow down the dialogue somewhere below the speed of sound.
