quality!!

I didn't really know what to expect from this film, I kinda knew what the main story or theme was but I only wanted to watch it as I think Jack Black was hilarious in School Of Rock. Man, am I glad I checked this film out! its awesome! A riot from start to finish and I would recommend it to ANYONE! (of the right age that is!) Jack Black is again excellent in this with his immense & seemingly unstoppable energy he brings to a movie. Great stuff. There are some nice cameos as well, namely ben stiller and a very surprising appearance by tim "shawshank" robbins. I particularly enjoyed towards the end of this flick with the showdown that happens. Not gonna say anymore as it will give too much away. Put it this way, its a question of how hard can Tenecious D rock against the ultimate evil!

Loved this film.

Awesome!

This is one of my all time favourite films. Always will be. I very rarely give a film 10/10 unless its very special but 'The Terminator' delivers in every way. Its by far Arnie's best performance to date and its not because hes not got many lines in the movie! He was made for this role as the seemingly unstoppable killing machine from the future.

"give me your address there....."

Well done James Cameron for bringing us this class film. Didn't actually notice at the time but near the start of the movie, check out bill paxton as one of the punks on the street who make the fatal mistake of tangling with the terminator...he then went onto star in another of my fave films "aliens" as hudson.

If u haven't seen this film....Where have you been???!!!!!

10/10. stunning.

Loved it

I was in the ideal situation for a film to grab my attention....before one of my friends gave me this movie I had no idea what it was about, who was in it (none other than the fresh prince himself!) or how successful it had been.....perfect! because this just added to my enjoyment of it. I must say at this point that I have never really rated Mr. Smith as an actor until I watched this movie. He is truly excellent in this and deserves a good pat on the back. The effects r cool as well as monsters explode out of the dark seemingly from everywhere! cool! This is a must see.....my only regret is that I didn't watch it at the cinema....thank god for my surround sound system at home.....although my neighbours are probably not so pleased with it! check this one out, you wont regret it Rating : 9/10 brilliant.

Just when you thought star wars was dead (Well, i did!), along comes revenge of the sith. After the boring and dull 1 and 2 of the star wars saga, this was exactly the shot in the arm this series of films deserved. George Lucas delivers in this fantastic 'finale' of flicks that gives the viewer thrills, spills, and everything else!. Its just got it all, for the old and the young, light sabres, fights galore and the sad, but brilliantly shot turning of anniken skywalker into the infamous darth vader.

I absolutely loved this film, have to admit though i went into the cinema quite sceptical after seeing the first two films. 1 and 2 filled me with dismay but revenge of the sith was just amazing. I thought that the original trilogy (star wars, the empire strikes back and return of the jedi) would be untouchable but this film I think is now my favourite.

utter class. Miss it at your peril.

Smallville (2001– )
Watchable
22 November 2005
When I first checked out this show, i must admit i was sceptical. Didn't think it would run as long as it has but in my opinion 'smallville' actually works. Tom Welling is good as Clark, his energy is enough for the viewer to believe he possesses special powers. Surprised to see John Scheider in it, remember him from years ago as Bo duke in the dukes of hazzard, used to love that show.

I mainly watch it for the effects when Kent uses his super powers, highly entertaining. I find the love interest between Clark/Lana and Clark/Chloe rather tedious to be honest but at least its bearable. The bonus of this series for me is Lana, (Kristin Kreuk) i could watch her all day really, she is rather tasty.

I especially like the constant links to the original superman films, the voice of Jur-el which is Terrence Stamp - general zod (Superman II), Clarks mother, who played Clarks girlfriend in superman III and the special appearance of christopher reeve, the original man of steel.

Overall - 7/10. Decent.

Excellent
22 November 2005
I watched this film about 2 weeks ago and would recommend it to anyone. I personally do thai boxing myself, so my personal interests in the film are obvious. tony jaa is awesome, doing his own stunts and kicking and fighting everything in sight. The action sequences are breathtaking and is matched by Jaa's amazing agility in the air. Incredible to think that he uses no wires of any kind. I thought the matrix was that damn good when it came out but it's not a patch on this masterpiece. One of the best films I have seen in a good while. What really impresses me about this film is that it looks so real, the kicks and punches thrown/blocked by jaa look like, and probably are, making bodily contact, and when thai moves are thrown at that speed takes an unbelievable amount of control. The velocity of the action is incredible and its a roller-coaster ride of a movie with a kick-ass soundtrack.

So sit back, feet up and enjoy.

A fantastic film, a must for martial art lovers. Bring on the sequel! Rating 9/10. Exhilarating.

Open Water (2003)

Very gripping
6 April 2005
Warning: Spoilers
The first thing that I must emphasise to people who haven't yet seen this movie is don't be fooled into thinking that this is yet another 'Jaws' (1975) rip-off. Yes, there are sharks in it but the circumstances that surrounds their presence is entirely different. To be honest, I did not expect too much from this flick but was pleasantly surprised how good it turned out to be.

The main credit should be I feel to the director who builds up the tension and suspense expertly. The two main characters that end up getting stranded in the middle of the ocean deserve credit also, both turn in impressive performances. The fact that it is based on actual real events also adds another dimension to this flick, you don't just walk away with the comfort of 'well it's just a film'.

A film well worth seeing.

Excellent, this film rocks!
26 February 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I heard bad reviews from this flick mainly from my brother and seeing as though we have similar senses of humour I didn't hire this out or consider watching it. I stumbled upon it whilst getting drunk at a friends party, man, I thought it was a quality film. Jack Black is hilarious, "What are kids bein taught these days?!".

In future when it comes to movies I'm gonna listen a lot less to my brother, don't get me wrong he doesn't think its crap or anything, just doesn't agree with the hype.

After talking about 'School Of Rock' which I have seen three times now, I already wanna watch it again. Check out at the beginning when Jack Black is dancin around like a chicken on stage, classic.

A must see film for anyone, Rating 9/10.

Brilliant

It doesn't matter what films you prefer to watch, be it horror, action, sci-fi whatever this is a must see film regardless. John Candy is excellent in this & he is backed up well by Steve Martin who hasn't done a better film since.

It essentially tells the story of a mans desperate attempts to get home and spend thanksgiving with his family. All efforts seem to be in vain as time and again he is hindered by public transport letting him down. He is also not helped by the company he is forced to keep in Del Griffith (Candy) who does nothing but annoy Neal Page (Martin) on his journey.

This flick is fast moving and a roller-coaster ride from start to finish. O.K., the ending is soppy but you can forgive that due to the super high entertainment factor throughout.

A must see, Rating 9/10

Jason and his putty head
16 February 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This film is hilarious!, I thought that they should have stopped at Part 6 which was a brilliant flick but i'm glad they didn't. Where does Jason get his array of weapons from?, does he have a special shed in the woods where he keeps them?. Walking around killin people with his machete then a party horn and then he gets his maggoty hands on a strimmer!, wastes idiot Dr. cruise played by old bernie (weekend at bernies).

Watch out as well for when Jason gets pulled up on that light wire, the look on his putty head face and the sound he makes is hilarious.

Rating for part VII 3/10 for it's funny factor.

Enjoyable
11 February 2005
This is one sequel that ran the original very close in terms of quality and audience interest. I am a huge fan of Sam Raimi & this was the main reason I gave this flick a chance due to his superb Evil Dead trilogy. The effects are excellent which I thought they would be having viewed the original film. Lots of action coupled with good acting performances particularly by Toby Maguire who I think was average in the first but really gets into his role in this. Twas funny to see Bruce Campbell (Ash) & Dan Hicks (Jake) both from Evil Dead 2 in bit part roles in this. "Jake, you're holdin my hand too tight....!" "Baby, I ain't holdin your hand!"

Definitely gonna check out the 3rd installment in the series after this, lookin forward to it.

Check this film out.

Very Average
11 February 2005
This flick falls into the catastrophe category which has been repeated over and over as the end of mankind. Armageddon, Independence day etc. This film for me delivered what I expected it to.

Yes, it has fantastic special effects but what big budget movie doesn't these days?. It's far too slow moving for my liking and without the special effects, I very much doubt whether I would have got to the end credits. At least Independence Day didn't rely solely on effects, it had characters in it with attitude (Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum & Bill Pullman) as very important back-up to keep the prospective audience interested whilst they were not seeing mass destruction.

Rating 6/10 Disappointing.

Jaws 3-D (1983)

What is it with roaring sharks?!
1 February 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I watched Jaws 3 years ago, but I was just viewing the bottom list for IMDb users and noticed that this was there. This is not quite as bad as the criminal Jaws : The revenge, but it's still utter, utter crap. The shark in this one roars but this time it's underwater so it's more muffled, unlike in the sequel to this when the rubber great white stands up on it's tail and roars like a t-rex.

Yes, fair enough this was meant to be a flick that came out at a time when 3-D was a new and exciting, but the effects are so pants that even Mr. Spielberg wouldn't have been able to save this one. What made me laugh is the end sequence when the 'shark' is 'swimming' towards the underwater control room. It would have been more realistic for someones hand to be present gliding the shark along, it just looks like a great white turd.

Then, when the shark explodes, a perfectly formed set of teeth fly and stop right in front of the camera. Yeah, really scary and realistic.

Do not watch this film, its utter pants.

Knight Rider (1982–1986)
You'll never get any Hassle Hoff David
31 January 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I would like this opportunity to thank the creators of the Knight Rider, particularly the episodes of "Goliath" & "Goliath Returns". They were the perfect viewing for me and my friends when we were about to go out drinkin in student bars.

The 2 episodes mentioned above are total comic genius. Hasselhoff (one of the worst actors in the world) plays two parts in these, Michael and his evil twin brother Garth. For the role of Garth, Hasselhoff walks around with a ridiculous fake beard. The amount of times I've sat there laughing uncontrollably at Hasselhoff with his big heavy breathin (His attempt to act evil and intimidating).

"No, not quite everything, there's still one crucial matter I have to attend to.....HHUUURRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!" - heavy breathin by Hasslehoff. Comic genius. I just hope that these two episodes are shown again soon on channel 5, this comedy should be shared by all.

The actual Knight Rider series is watchable though, a classic 80-s series that's not just designed for the very young. Funny bit at the end of the "Goliath" episode, Michael is fightin Garth. Quality. Garths big spindeley kicks wouldn't even break him out of a wet paper bag.

2 ratings here:- Rating 1 for the Knight Rider series in general 8/10

Rating 2 for the Goliath episodes 10/10 for sheer comic value. I would have to restrain from shaving for a decade to get a forest like that on my face like Garth at the start of "Goliath Returns" where he is in prison.

Compelling viewing
28 January 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This flick starts off at a very slow moving pace & before everything kicked off in this fantasy cowboy world, I was beginning to wonder if I should stay up and see it through, I made the right choice by watching it till the end.

Great performances all round, sad to see that James Brolin aka Wade Parent "The Car", gets killed off so early. The robotic gunslinger in his relentless quest to get revenge on Brolin's buddy throughout the film is fun to watch.

"Draw!" Overall, worth a watch, especially as the effects are okay seeing as though it is an old film.

Awful
15 January 2005
This is by far the worst of the superman series. No surprise to me that the late Christopher Reeve had something to do with the writing of the scripts. Now what line springs to mind, ah yes,

"What's he going to say?" "Something wonderful"

Pure cheese.

Very strange that superman suddenley becomes a tad stronger than in the second installment of the series, where he struggles to stop a bus full of people thrown at him by Ursa and Nom under the guidance of General Zod. Then, in this final trash film, he is able with ease to move a planet. Highly unrealistic.

The most amusing part of this flick for me is when Nuclear man is using Superman as a nail, knocking him into a planet. He takes a big swing and then gently taps Reeve. It's so fake it's funny.

Don't bother watching, hiring/renting or buying this film, it's garbage. Watch Superman II instead if you really must see a flapping cape. Enjoy some classic quotes from II........

"Throw it!, Throw iiiiiiitttttttttt!!!!!" "Luthor you poisonous snake!" "So you are a General, and who is your superior....?" "Come, come and kneel before Zod............ZOD!!!!!!!" "In return for your obedience, you will enjoy my generous protection, in other words, you will be allowed to live" "These humans are beginning to bore me"

R.I.P. to Christopher Reeve.

This is a brilliant film. simply brilliant.

for young and for old, doesn't matter. It's fun for all in this flick. The extra sequence at the end is a bonus, featuring simon cowell, classic.

When I first saw this film I hadn't even watched the original, so I thought that it would be a bit of a challenge to comprehend this sequel. Not at all. The sequel has plenty of pointers to direct new shrek fans as to what has happened in the first flick.

Great music score helps with this fantastic movie. It just really made me wanna watch the original.

Brilliant. Cringe
10 January 2005
This is one of the funniest films that I have seen in years. Rob de niro is brilliant as playing the overprotective dad, Ben Stiller is convincing too. The bit that stands out for me is when Stiller is playing volleyball in the pool and plasters it in that birds face. I've lost count of the amount of times I have watched that. Superb.

what a film, "Oh dear god, you are such a good god". De niro giving everyone that typical look.

"are you a pothead focker?!"

"Its only a game focker!"

"Why cant i say bomb on an airplane??!!!, bomb-bomb-bomb-bomb-bomb-babombbombbbbombbombba-ba-ba-bomb.

Robot Wars (1998–2018)
Good entertainment
12 April 2004
Warning: Spoilers
A very short summary.

Granny's revenge is trash.

Razer is the ultimate robot, it seems to be able to go through anything with it's lethal injections. The way it lost against tornado was a travesty. Without the shielding tornado would have been torn apart. Whoever built razer is a genius.

Wheelie big cheese was a good robot, never really seen a robot blasted out of the arena before. Wish it would have settled under grannys revenge and hand shanked it right through the roof. Sick of that crap robot.

9/10 for entertainment. Good series.

I don't think I will ever tire of watching this film, I am not a huge fan of Adam Sandler but he is brilliant in this flick. Good to see Richard Kiel still starring in films, he is best known for his James Bond appearences, as Bond's enemy 'Jaws'. Richard Kiel with his teeth of steel.

A good watch
7 June 2003
I watched this film not that long ago, thinking that it would be sadly lacking in special effects because it was made in the early 70's. Yes, true, this was the case, but special effects were not needed in this fascinating tale of a killer virus desperatly trying to be contolled by a group of elite scientists. The story and script are impressive and the climax to the movie are worth the wait.

Great film, 8/10.

Why are they still making these??!!
8 May 2003
It was just simply because it was titled 'Halloween' that I decided to show respect for John Carpenter's excellent opening 2 films. Boy, was I dissapointed. For a start I wondered how the hell they were gonna make serial killer Michael Myers come back for another killing spree when he was decapitated in H20.

I thought that they actually would have had him walking around with a bit of glue stuck on his neck to signify him sticking his own head back on!. That probably would have been more plausible than the explanation of his come back. He dressed up in a paramedic's outfit, then just so happened to crush the innocent man's larynx?!. Gimme a break!. Bit of a coincidence then that the innocent paramedic dressed up in myers' clothes and mask would answer to the name 'Michael' when Laurie Strode speaks to him near the end of H20.

What mainly lets the film down are the terrible actors. They are just so typical of a horror flick nowadays. In the Myers house we get the usual:

1. Doing drugs - means they are gonna die

2. Sex scene - means they are gonna die

3. A typical hero (Busta Rhymes) who just happens to be a Bruce Lee

and down right stupidity for going back there.

Busta Rhymes is an absolute joke in the movie, every other word that he says is a swear word, what is the need?. As for him doing a Jackie Chan and kickin' Myers' ass, well as I watched it with my brother, we both erupted in laughter. It's hilarious.

I've already voted for this film and yes, you've guessed it, gave it a 1 rating. I am a die hard fan of the 'Halloween' series but could simply could not rate this film at all. Why Jamie Lee Curtis wasted her time doing this is beyond me, she must be buying a new house in real life or something and needs a bit of extra cash.

Hopefully this is the last we see of Busta Rhymes (except if it's in a comedy, which, after all, is the way I look at this film, as a joke)

Rating 1/10. Trash.

What a fantastic film.
8 May 2003
This is without a doubt one of the best movies I have ever seen. The story, acting, emotion just everything is brilliant. It's one of only a few films that I will give a full marks to it's that good. It extremely cleverley combines a whole range of emotions, from drama, houmour, sadness, joy, wonder and of course shows the true reality of what ultimatly happens on death row. The electricution scene is horrific but very well done. Tom Hanks is his usual impressive self and the film is supported by a wonderful cast, particulary the guy who played Eugene Victor Toombs in the X-files....(at least I think it was him) as the evil warden.

This is a must see film for anyone no matter what films you prefer.

Great movie
10 February 2003
For once a story that doesnt have a happy ending. Dead poets society is a tragic story of a young man wishing to be an actor but for his stubborn father who wants and demands him to be a doctor. This is not the only story however, there are other tales such as love, compassion and humour. It is a great film and I have to admit I was sceptical when I saw that Robin Williams was the main star. However, he is brilliant in this movie and makes it work as the compassionate and funny Mr. Keating.

Rating 9/10. Great.
