The Bear (2022– )
8/10
S1-2: Impressive and Captivating, Gripping Plot and Strong Performances
21 July 2023
After binge-watching the Bear, I can confidently say that it's an enthralling and compelling experience. The show keeps you at the edge of your seat with its suspenseful storytelling and well-crafted plot twists.

Performances: The performances of the cast are stellar, with each actor fully immersing themselves in their respective roles. The characters are richly developed, making it easy to connect with their struggles and triumphs. The chemistry between the main leads adds an extra layer of depth to the narrative, making their journey even more engaging to follow.

Visuals: Visually, the series is stunning, with impressive cinematography and attention to detail in creating the world of the story. The production team has done an excellent job in capturing the ambiance of different settings, from bustling cities to eerie and mysterious locations.

Narrative/Themes One aspect that stands out is the series' ability to tackle thought-provoking themes, leaving you with moments of reflection even after the episodes have ended. It's evident that the writers have put considerable effort into crafting a well-rounded and meaningful narrative.

Flaws/Criticisms However, the series is not without its flaws. Some episodes feel a bit slow-paced, and certain subplots may have benefited from more development. Yet, these minor issues don't detract significantly from the overall experience.

The ending of the season leaves you craving for more, with unanswered questions and exciting possibilities for future storylines. It's a testament to the show's ability to hook its audience and leave them eagerly anticipating what's to come. Overall, the Bear is an impressive and captivating watch. With its gripping plot, strong performances, and thought-provoking themes, it keeps you invested throughout. While not perfect, its ability to entertain and provoke makes it a standout in its genre.

A Compelling and Commendable Narrative and Message
21 July 2023
Sound of Freedom delves into the harrowing world of human trafficking, serving as a compelling call to action against this heinous crime. The film shines a light on the crucial issue, shedding much-needed attention on a subject that has often been overlooked in Hollywood.

Director Alejandro Monteverde, demonstrates a sense of flourish in his approach, employing inventive cinematography and well-considered dissolves to enhance the visual experience. However, the film's muted tone slightly dampens the full impact of its solemn mission.

The performances, especially by Jim Caviezel as Tim Ballard, contribute significantly to the film's emotional depth. On a cinematic level, Sound of Freedom boasts impeccable cinematography, a moving musical score, and a well-crafted script that kept me engaged throughout. While it may not be a movie one watches repeatedly, its profound message and strong performances make it a film worth recommending to family and friends.

In conclusion, Sound of Freedom succeeds in its mission to raise awareness about human trafficking. Its compelling narrative and commendable performances leave a lasting impact, making it a film that challenges us to confront a pressing global issue and join the fight for justice.

Barbie (I) (2023)
8/10
Refreshing and Creative, More Than Just a Gimmick
21 July 2023
Barbie is a delightful and creatively refreshing comedy that breathes new life into the iconic doll's world. From the moment the film began, I was captivated by its smart and subversive storytelling, which cleverly blends meta-humour with a dash of eccentricity.

The production design is a standout feature, a visually dazzling and wonderfully pink-themed universe. Margot Robbie's portrayal of Barbie is nothing short of impressive, skilfully capturing both the character's earnestness and humour. Her performance, combined with Greta Gerwig's skilful directing, makes for a truly entertaining and memorable experience.

Throughout the film, I found myself chuckling at the witty humour and enjoying the unexpectedly bold take on what Barbie represents. The movie strikes a fine balance between honouring the iconic brand and playfully challenging its conventions, resulting in a unique and rewarding cinematic experience.

While the film's intentions are commendable, there were moments when it felt like the themes could have been explored more deeply, leaving me slightly wanting more. Nonetheless, Barbie remains a fun and enjoyable ride, filled with charm and charismatic performances that made it stand out as one of the year's best comedies so far.

In the end, Barbie proves to be much more than just a marketing gimmick, showcasing a refreshing take on a beloved cultural icon and making it a must-see for anyone seeking a smart, humorous, and visually arresting cinematic adventure.

Oppenheimer (I) (2023)
9/10
A Magnificent Piece of Cinema
21 July 2023
Oppenheimer has left a profound impact on me. The film's storytelling and character study were brilliantly executed, drawing me into the life and mind of J Robert Oppenheimer. Cillian Murphy's performance was nothing short of exceptional, bringing depth and authenticity to the character.

Visually, the film was a treat to behold. The cinematography, especially if you see it in IMAX, it adds that immersive quality that really enhanced the overall experience. The attention to detail in recreating historical settings was also commendable, making the film feel remarkably authentic.

Oppenheimer managed to strike a balance between explosive action and cerebral depth, showcasing Christopher Nolan's prowess as a filmmaker. It's a captivating blend of thought-provoking themes and enthralling storytelling, which left me contemplating the implications long after the credits rolled.

While the film had many strengths, I think that it could have been even more impactful if some of the female characters like Jean Tatlock had a bit more character development. This aspect felt somewhat lacking and deserved more attention in my opinion.

Overall though, Oppenheimer is a magnificent piece of cinema that stands out as one of Christopher Nolan's best works. It's a film that engages the mind and emotions, and which will leave a lasting impression.

An Action-Packed Epic With Unrivalled Intensity
18 July 2023
John Wick: Chapter 4 explodes onto the screen with a vengeance, packing more action and adrenaline than ever before. The film's ambition is undeniable, piling on the set pieces and creating a high-octane experience that captivates audiences. Keanu Reeves once again proves why he is the perfect fit for the role of John Wick, delivering a mesmerizing performance that oozes charisma and lethal grace.

The action sequences in John Wick: Chapter 4 are nothing short of spectacular. Bursting at the seams with creativity and precision, the choreography and cinematography elevate the film to the level of a modern epic. Reeves, along with the impressive additions of Donnie Yen and Bill Skarsgård, bring their A-game, adding depth and intensity to the already electrifying fight scenes.

However, with an almost three-hour runtime, the film's pacing can sometimes be a double-edged sword. While the breathtaking action keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, there are moments when it lingers for too long, bordering on the edge of becoming tedious.

Despite this, John Wick: Chapter 4 culminates in an epic and sensational finale that justifies the journey. It's a climax that leaves audiences giddy with excitement and makes enduring the film's occasional lulls worthwhile.

In the end, John Wick Chapter 4 is a larger-than-life action extravaganza that reaffirms its place as a pinnacle in the genre. It may not be without its flaws, but its jaw-dropping action, thrilling performances, and electrifying ending make it a must-watch for fans of the series and action enthusiasts alike.

S1 - A Captivating Journey Through the Apocalypse
18 July 2023
In a world where video game adaptations have often struggled to find their footing on the small screen, The Last of Us stands out as a shining example of how to do it right. The series, based on the beloved video game, has managed to retain the most addictive elements of its source material while weaving a deeper and emotionally charged narrative that stands on its own.

One of the most impressive aspects of The Last of Us is its ability to strike a balance between homage and originality. While some scenes lifted directly from the game may have led to pacing issues for some viewers, the show's departure from the game's narrative has been a breath of fresh air, enriching the story and drawing in both fans and newcomers alike.

The production design deserves applause, as it masterfully recreates the game's environments, making viewers feel like they've stepped right into the post-apocalyptic world. The use of lighting and cinematography adds an extra layer of depth, drawing out the humanity of the characters and creatures in a way that sets it apart from other adaptations.

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey's performances as Joel and Ellie are nothing short of exceptional. Their chemistry on screen is magnetic, making them irresistibly watchable as they navigate the challenges and dangers of their journey. Pascal's portrayal of Joel has been described as a true embodiment of the character, while Ramsey's portrayal of Ellie has been hailed as a breakout performance, striking a perfect balance between comedy and emotion.

The guest performances in The Last of Us are a true highlight, with a talented cast delivering remarkable portrayals that add richness to the narrative. Each character feels authentic and well-crafted, contributing to the show's overall success.

While the show offers thrilling action sequences, it is during its quieter moments that The Last of Us truly shines. These moments allow the characters to breathe, bringing out the complexities of their personalities and forging powerful emotional connections with the audience.

The Last of Us isn't just a show; it's an experience. With its captivating storytelling, outstanding performances, and stunning production design, it stands as a compelling example of how to adapt a video game into a binge-worthy TV series. Whether you're a fan of the game or a newcomer to this world, The Last of Us is an absolute must-watch.

Finding Nemo (2003)
9/10
An Endearing and Enchanting Underwater Adventure
10 June 2023
Finding Nemo is a heart-warming and visually stunning animated film that captures the essence of family, friendship, and perseverance. Released in 2003 and directed by Andrew Stanton, this Pixar classic takes audiences on an unforgettable underwater journey filled with captivating characters and emotional depth.

One of the standout elements of Finding Nemo is its impeccable storytelling. The narrative is tightly woven, expertly balancing humour, adventure, and heartfelt moments. The journey to rescue Nemo is filled with obstacles, surprises, and life lessons, leading to personal growth and profound realizations for both Marlin and Dory. The film explores themes of love, loss, letting go, and the strength of familial bonds.

The characters in Finding Nemo are endearing and well-developed. Marlin is a relatable protagonist whose protective instincts and fears make him both sympathetic and relatable. Dory's infectious optimism and unwavering loyalty provide a perfect contrast to Marlin's cautious nature, and her character becomes the emotional anchor of the story. The film also features a host of supporting characters, such as the wise sea turtle named Crush, the surfer-dude seagulls, and the gruff but lovable sharks, all of whom contribute to the film's charm.

Visually, Finding Nemo is a breath-taking masterpiece. The animation is exquisitely detailed, with vibrant colours and mesmerizing underwater landscapes. The attention to detail in recreating the oceanic world is remarkable, from the fluid movements of the fish to the shimmering light filtering through the water. The film takes full advantage of the animation medium, creating a visually immersive experience that transports the audience into the depths of the ocean.

The emotional depth of Finding Nemo is what truly sets it apart. While it is an entertaining and family-friendly film, it doesn't shy away from exploring complex emotions. The story deals with themes of fear, loss, and resilience, teaching valuable lessons about embracing one's individuality and finding strength in adversity. The emotional moments are expertly crafted, tugging at the heartstrings without ever feeling manipulative.

The film's score, composed by Thomas Newman, perfectly complements the story, enhancing the emotional impact of each scene. The music ranges from whimsical and light-hearted melodies to soaring and poignant compositions, accentuating the film's emotional beats and adding depth to the storytelling.

The only minor critique one could have is that some of the comedic moments may not resonate as strongly with adult audiences compared to younger viewers. However, the humour is still cleverly executed and contributes to the overall enjoyment of the film.

In conclusion, Finding Nemo is a delightful and emotionally resonant animated film that captivates audiences of all ages. With its engaging storytelling, lovable characters, breath-taking animation, and heartfelt themes, it's no wonder this film has become a beloved classic. It reminds us of the power of love, the importance of embracing our fears, and the beauty of the underwater world. If you're looking for a film that will make you laugh, cry, and leave you with a sense of wonder, Finding Nemo is an absolute must-watch.

Deadpool (2016)
9/10
A Refreshingly Irreverent and Hilarious Superhero Romp
10 June 2023
Deadpool is an uproariously entertaining and irreverent superhero film that stands out from the crowd. Released in 2016 and directed by Tim Miller, this Marvel adaptation boldly breaks the mould, delivering a hilarious and action-packed experience that subverts traditional superhero tropes.

From the opening scene, Deadpool establishes its unique tone and style. The film unabashedly embraces its adult rating, delivering a barrage of profanity, graphic violence, and adult humour. It's refreshing to see a superhero film that isn't afraid to push boundaries and explore edgier territory, making it a breath of fresh air in a genre often dominated by more family-friendly fare.

The humour in Deadpool is one of its standout elements. The witty and rapid-fire dialogue, combined with Reynolds' impeccable comedic delivery, keeps the audience consistently entertained. Deadpool's irreverent and self-aware nature leads to numerous meta-commentaries and pop culture references, resulting in many laugh-out-loud moments. The film's ability to balance comedy with action sequences is commendable, never sacrificing one for the other.

While the film revels in its humour, it also manages to tell a compelling story. Wade Wilson's journey from a lovable, albeit unconventional, anti-hero to a character with genuine emotional depth is surprisingly well-developed. The relationship between Wade and his girlfriend, Vanessa, portrayed by Morena Baccarin, adds a layer of heart amidst the chaos. Their chemistry and shared moments provide emotional grounding and investment in their unconventional love story.

The action sequences in Deadpool are brilliantly choreographed and visually engaging. The film takes advantage of Deadpool's unique abilities to deliver creative and acrobatic fight scenes, often accompanied by well-timed humour. The use of slow motion and stylized cinematography adds a distinctive flair to the action, ensuring that the audience remains captivated throughout.

Ryan Reynolds' portrayal of Deadpool is pitch-perfect. He effortlessly embodies the character's sarcasm, charisma, and irreverence, making Deadpool a joy to watch on screen. Reynolds' commitment to the role and his clear passion for the character shine through, making him the definitive Deadpool for fans and newcomers alike.

However, despite its many strengths, Deadpool does have a few minor shortcomings. The plot, while entertaining, follows a relatively straightforward revenge narrative that doesn't break much new ground. Additionally, some of the supporting characters, particularly the villains, could have been further developed to provide a stronger counterbalance to Deadpool's charisma.

In summary, Deadpool is an immensely enjoyable superhero film that breaks free from the traditional mould. Ryan Reynolds delivers a career-defining performance as the irreverent and witty Deadpool, injecting the film with a delightful blend of humour and action. While it may not delve deep into complex themes or revolutionize the genre, it offers a refreshing and entertaining experience that appeals to fans of both superheroes and unconventional comedies. If you're in the mood for a wild and hilarious ride with a superhero unlike any other, Deadpool is a must-watch.

Up (2009)
9/10
An Emotionally Captivating Adventure
10 June 2023
Up is a heartfelt animated film that beautifully captures the essence of life, love, and the pursuit of dreams. Directed by Pete Docter and released in 2009, this Pixar masterpiece takes audiences on a breath-taking and emotionally charged journey.

The first thing that sets Up apart is its exceptional storytelling. The narrative is skillfully crafted, delving into Carl's past through a captivating and poignant montage. This sequence, accompanied by Michael Giacchino's soul-stirring musical score, instantly establishes an emotional connection with the audience. The film explores themes of love, loss, and the importance of cherishing life's fleeting moments.

The characters in Up are endearing and relatable. Carl Fredricksen, voiced by Ed Asner, is a curmudgeonly yet lovable protagonist whose journey is filled with personal growth and rediscovery. Russell, voiced by Jordan Nagai, is an enthusiastic and innocent young boy who provides comedic relief and adds depth to the story. The chemistry between these two characters is heart-warming and forms the emotional core of the film.

Visually, Up is a stunning work of art. The animation is masterfully executed, with vibrant colours, detailed landscapes, and imaginative settings. The film also makes clever use of 3D animation, enhancing the depth and immersive experience. The attention to detail is remarkable, from the expressions on the characters' faces to the meticulously rendered environments.

One of the film's greatest strengths lies in its ability to evoke a wide range of emotions. It seamlessly transitions between moments of humour, sorrow, and awe-inspiring wonder. The emotional depth of the story is what makes Up truly unforgettable, touching upon universal themes that resonate with viewers of all ages. It's a testament to the power of storytelling in animation.

The supporting cast of characters in Up is equally memorable. From the eccentric adventurer Charles Muntz to the lovable talking dog Dug, each character brings their own unique charm and adds layers of depth to the narrative. The interactions between the characters are authentic and provide moments of both laughter and introspection.

Another noteworthy aspect of Up is its exceptional score by Michael Giacchino. The music complements the film perfectly, capturing the essence of each scene and elevating the emotional impact. It weaves together an enchanting blend of whimsical melodies, heartfelt compositions, and thrilling orchestrations that enhance the storytelling.

The only minor criticism one could have is that the pacing occasionally slows down in certain parts of the film, particularly during the middle act. However, this does not detract significantly from the overall experience as the film quickly recaptures its magic with its moving climax.

In conclusion, Up is a remarkable animated film that beautifully combines adventure, humour, and heartfelt emotion. Its captivating storytelling, stunning visuals, and memorable characters make it a true cinematic gem. It's a testament to the power of animation to touch the hearts of audiences, leaving a lasting impression long after the credits roll. If you're looking for a film that will make you laugh, cry, and reflect on the beauty of life, Up is an absolute must-see.

A Satisfying Ending to the OT - Amazing Action and Final Showdown, Overly-Cutesy Ewoks Spoil Some Scenes
12 May 2023
Return of the Jedi is a very satisfying conclusion to the original star wars trilogy.

The movie has all the elements that make Star Wars so great: epic space battles, thrilling lightsaber duels, and its memorable characters. Luke, Leia, and Han Solo all get their chance to shine, and we're introduced to new characters like the Ewoks and Emperor Palpatine properly.

I did feel sometimes that the overly-cutesy moments with the Ewoks spoiled some scenes for me, however the film's pacing and action sequences really make up for any flaws. The final showdown between the Rebels and the Empire is a spectacle to behold, with a really, well-done emotional payoff that will satisfy.

Overall, Return of the Jedi is a satisfying conclusion to the original trilogy that delivers on all the elements that make Star Wars great. While it may not be as ground-breaking as its predecessors, it's still a more than worthy addition to the franchise.

Iron Man (2008)
8/10
Set the Standard for the MCU - Fantastic Performances and Effects, Pacing Too Slow at Times
12 May 2023
Iron Man is the movie that launched the MCU and kicked off this new era of superhero films.

The movie is visually stunning, with incredible special effects and action scenes that are both exciting and inventive, and look just as good as the films the MCU creates today. The performances are fantastic, with Robert Downey Jr, as many have said before, Perfectly embodying the charismatic and sarcastic Tony Stark we know from the comics. The supporting cast however is massively underrated, and is in my opinion equally strong, especially Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts and Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane.

What sets Iron Man apart from other superhero movies of the time is its focus on character development. We see Tony Stark evolve from a cocky and selfish playboy to a hero who uses his wealth and intelligence to fight for good. The film also expertly explores the themes of responsibility, redemption, and the consequences of war.

However, the movie does have some flaws. I did find the pacing to be a bit slow at times, and some of the supporting characters like Rhodey could have been developed more. Additionally, the final battle between Iron Man and the villain of the movie wasn't as exciting and memorable as I think it could have been.

Overall though, Iron Man is still a highly entertaining and enjoyable film that set the bar for the MCU going forward. While it has some flaws, its strong performances, character development, and impressive special effects make it a must-see for superhero fans. It may not be a perfect movie, but it's definitely worth watching.

The Lion King (1994)
10/10
Disney Masterpiece - Vibrant, Nostalgic Animation, Fantastic Music, & A Brilliant Story
12 May 2023
The Lion King, is one of those Disney classic's that manages to be beloved by people of all ages. Set in Africa, the movie is about a young lion cub named Simba who is destined to become king.

One of the most impressive aspects of the movie is its stunning animation. The vibrant colours, intricate details, and lifelike movements of the animals make the world of the Lion King feel real and immersive and is marvellous to look at. The music is also a standout feature of the film, with songs like circle of life by Elton John and Hakuna Matata that are real ear-worms.

The story itself is a timeless tale of family, responsibility, and redemption. Simba's journey is both heart-warming and emotionally impactful. The themes of loss and overcoming fear are also woven into the narrative flawlessly, making it a film that is both entertaining and impactful.

Overall, The Lion King's stunning animation, memorable music, and timeless story make it an absolute classic. While some have argued certain scenes are too intense for younger children, I don't really agree, I believe it is an impressive achievement in filmmaking and one of the last true Disney masterpieces.

Timeless Masterpiece, Intricate Storytelling, Fantastic Performances and Directing
12 May 2023
The usual suspects is an absolute masterpiece of cinema that delivers a riveting and thought-provoking story with incredible performances and masterful directing.

What makes this film so impressive is the way it weaves together its complex narrative, with cleverly placed clues and red herrings that keep you guessing right until the very end. The writing is fantastic, with sharp dialogue and a well-crafted screenplay that makes for an engaging and thrilling watch.

The performances from the entire cast are outstanding, with Kevin Spacey giving, what is is my eyes, his career-defining performance. His subtle nuances and mannerisms add depth and intrigue to his character, and he delivers some of the film's most memorable lines. The rest of the cast especially Benicio Del Toro and Stephen Baldwin, all shine in their respective roles, with each bringing a unique energy and personality to their characters.

The directing by Bryan Singer is also brilliant, with his use of camera angles, lighting, and music hightening the tension and atmosphere of the film. The music is also excellent, its haunting melodies and intense percussion do a great job of adding to the film's suspenseful moments.

Overall, this film is a brilliant and timeless classic that will continue to stand the test of time. Its intricate and clever storytelling, coupled with outstanding performances and direction, make it a must-see for any fan of crime and thriller movies. It is a solid 10 out of 10 and a true masterpiece of cinema in my opinion.

Very Memorable and Unique, a Rare Gem of a Film
8 April 2023
The Truman Show is a truly captivating film that offers a unique and thought-provoking look at the role of media in our lives. The film explores the life of Truman Burbank, a man who has unknowingly lived his entire life on a television show.

What makes this film so compelling is its ability to seamlessly blend elements of comedy, drama, and social commentary. Jim Carrey's performance is outstanding and showcases his enormous range as an actor. He is able to capture the character's sense of confusion, desperation, and eventual realization with a nuanced and layered performance that keeps the audience engaged throughout.

The supporting cast also deserves praise, particularly Ed Harris as Christof, the show's creator and director. His character is a fascinating study of power, control, and manipulation, and Harris brings a sense of intensity and gravitas to the role that elevates the film to another level.

The film's themes of identity, free will, and the dangers of mass media are explored in a smart and thoughtful way that never feels heavy-handed or preachy. Instead, the film invites you to consider the ways in which our lives are shaped and influenced by media, and whether or not we have the power to break free from its hold.

The cinematography is also great, with the use of surveillance cameras and hidden cameras creating a sense of voyeurism and surveillance that is both unsettling and effective. The film's score is also fantastic and evocative, adding to the film's emotional resonance.

Overall, The Truman Show offers a unique and memorable film that is a rare gem which manages to be both entertaining and thought-provoking, and is a testament to the power of cinema to challenge assumptions and expand our understanding of the world around us. While it may not be for everyone, I highly recommend this film and therefore give it a rating of 9 out of 10.

A Thrilling and Emotional Ride, Not Perfect But Delivers Some Fantastic Performances and a High Stakes Plot
31 March 2023
Avengers Infinity War brings together the most iconic characters from the MCU to face their greatest challenge yet, Thanos and the Infinity Stones. The movie, directed by the Russo brothers, stars a massive ensemble cast including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, and many many others.

The plot of the movie revolves around the powerful villain Thanos played by Josh Brolin, who is on a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts that will grant the wielder god-like powers over reality. The Avengers, along with the Guardians of the Galaxy, must band together to try to stop Thanos from achieving his goal and unleashing destruction on the universe.

One of the greatest aspects of Infinity War is the incredible action sequences that are executed with brilliant precision and creativity. Each fight scene is expertly choreographed and showcases the unique abilities of each character, resulting in some of the most exciting action sequences in all the MCU.

The performances in the movie are also tremendous, with each actor bringing their best to their respective roles. This particularly applies to Robert Downey Jr. As Tony Stark/Iron Man, and Josh Brolin's portrayal of Thanos who is able to make Thanos both menacing and empathetic.

In addition to the action and performances, the movie also boasts a strong emotional core. The relationships between the characters are explored in-depth, resulting in some genuinely touching and heartbreaking moments. The stakes really do feel higher than any MCU film before it, and the film is not afraid to explore darker and more mature themes.

The only real downside of Infinity War is that it can feel a bit overwhelming at times. With so many characters and plotlines to juggle, the movie feels a bit disjointed at times, and some characters don't get as much screen time as others when they really need it.

Overall though, Avengers Infinity War is a very thrilling and emotional ride that successfully brings together the most iconic characters from the Marvel Universe. While it may not be perfect, the movie delivers on its promise of epic action and high-stakes drama, making it a must for any fan of superhero movies.

A Masterpiece, Fantastic Action Scenes, Visual Effects and Storylines
31 March 2023
Terminator 2 Judgment Day is an iconic sci-fi action film from James Cameron and I would consider it to be one of the greatest sequels of all time and deserves its acclaim for its groundbreaking visual effects, thrilling action sequences, and complex storyline.

The movie picks up ten years after the events of the first Terminator film, with Sarah Connor played by Linds Hamilton now a hardened warrior who has been preparing her son, John Connor played by Edward Furlong, for the war against the machines. The story follows the arrival of a new, more advanced Terminator played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, this time sent back in time to protect John from the shape-shifting T-1000 played by Robert Patrick, a Terminator that can mimic any human form.

One of the standout features of Terminator 2 is its incredible visual effects, which were groundbreaking at the time of release and still hold up today. The use of computer-generated imagery to create the T-1000's liquid metal appearance was a game-changer in the film industry, and it's still impressive to watch now. The film also features some of the most memorable action sequences in film history, including the thrilling motorcycle chase and the tense showdown in the steel mill.

In addition to its technical achievements, Terminator 2 also features a compelling storyline that explores themes of fate, destiny, and humanity. The relationship between John and the Terminator, which evolves from one of fear and mistrust to one of mutual respect and even love, is particularly moving. The film also offers a strong portrayal of Sarah Connor as a powerful, complex female character who is willing to sacrifice everything to protect her son and stop the machines.

Overall, Terminator 2 is a true cinematic masterpiece that still holds up today. Its groundbreaking visual effects, thrilling action sequences, and compelling storyline make it a must-watch for fans of science fiction or action films in my opinion. I would highly recommend this film, which is why I've rated it a 9/10.

Very Entertaining and Signature Tarantino
15 March 2023
Kill Bill 1 is a classic revenge thriller that showcases Tarantino's love for stylish violence and cinematic homage. The film is a non-stop ride of action and bloodshed that follows the Bride played by Thurman, a former member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, as she seeks revenge against her former teammates who betrayed her on her wedding day.

The film's most notable strength is its stylish and captivating visuals. Tarantino's attention to detail in each shot is evident, with vibrant color schemes, unique camera angles, and creative transitions. The fight scenes are choreographed to perfection, with Uma Thurman delivering an outstanding performance as The Bride. The soundtrack is also a highlight of the film, featuring classic tracks from artists such as Nancy Sinatra and RZA.

While the film's entertainment value is high, it may not be for everyone, due to the graphic and extreme violence, which may be off-putting to some. Additionally, the film's pacing felt a bit disjointed at times, with abrupt shifts in tone and narrative that were a bit confusing.

Despite these flaws however, Kill Bill 1 remains a classic revenge thriller that is sure to satisfy fans of Tarantino's work. The film's creative visuals, exceptional fight scenes, and memorable soundtrack make it an entertaining and thrilling ride from start to finish.

This is a movie that will leave you speechless, awed by its incredible attention to detail, its beautifully crafted characters, and its powerful message about the environment and the future of our planet.

The story of Wall-E is simple yet profound. In a dystopian future, Earth has been abandoned by humans, and the only inhabitants left are a group of robots tasked with cleaning up the planet. Among them is Wall-E, a curious little robot who spends his days collecting trash and dreaming of something more. When a sleek new robot named EVE arrives on the scene, Wall-E's world is turned upside down, and the two embark on an incredible journey through space and time.

What makes Wall-E such a stunning achievement is the way it manages to be both entertaining and thought-provoking at the same time. The visuals are simply breathtaking, with every frame filled with rich detail and vibrant color. The characters are wonderfully realized, with Wall-E himself being one of the most endearing and memorable movie characters of recent years.

But what really sets Wall-E apart is its message. This is a movie that speaks to the importance of taking care of our planet, of the dangers of unchecked consumerism and the need for us to work together to create a better world for ourselves and for future generations. It's a powerful message, and one that is delivered with subtlety and grace.

In short, Wall-E is a movie that deserves all the praise it has received and more. It is a true masterpiece of animation, a movie that will touch your heart and leave you feeling inspired. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and watch it as soon as possible. You won't regret it.

Magnificent, Insightful and Very Entertaining - Fantastic Performances and an Intelligent Story
21 February 2023
V for Vendetta is a thrilling and capturing film that explores issues of freedom, government control, and personal responsibility. Set in a dystopian future Britain, the film follows the story of a masked vigilante known as V, played by Hugo Weaving, who seeks to overthrow a totalitarian government and inspire the people to rise up against their oppressors.

The film visually is absolutely stunning, with a dark and brooding aesthetic that perfectly captures the film's dystopian setting. The action sequences are well choreographed, and the use of slow-motion and stylized camera angles really adds to the sense of drama and tension. The score is also impressive, with a mix of classical and electronic music that complements all of the film's themes and tone.

The standout performance of the film comes from Hugo Weaving, who portrays the mysterious and charismatic V fantastically. Despite being hidden behind a mask for the entirety of the film, Weaving is able to convey a wide range of emotions and create a compelling and sympathetic character without needing to show his face. Natalie Portman is also excellent as Evey, a young woman who becomes caught up in V's revolutionary plans and undergoes her own personal transformation.

One of the film's strengths is its use of historical allusions and references. The film is set in a dystopian Britain that draws heavily on the historical context of Nazi Germany and the rise of fascism in Europe. The film's exploration of these themes and historical allusions adds depth and richness to the story, and helps to make it more resonant and impactful.

Overall, V for Vendetta is a well-crafted and thought-provoking film that is as entertaining as it is insightful. The film's excellent performances, stunning visuals, and intelligent storytelling make it a must-see for fans of dystopian fiction, political thrillers, and action movies. While the film's themes may be challenging for some viewers, they are handled with skill and nuance, making this an important and worthwhile film that deserves to be seen.

Extremely Hard-Hitting, Powerful and Challenging - Norton Exceptional -
21 February 2023
American History X is a powerful and challenging film that explores the destructive nature of racism and the possibility of redemption. The film tells the story of a former neo-Nazi named Derek Vinyard played by Edward Norton, who tries to prevent his younger brother Danny played by Edward Furlong from following in his footsteps.

The film opens with a brutal scene of violence that sets the tone for the rest of the film. The scene is graphic and disturbing, but it's necessary to establish the context for Derek's journey.

The film explores the roots of racism and the ways in which it can destroy individuals and communities. Through Derek's journey, we see how easy it is for people to be swept up in hateful ideologies and how difficult it can be to break free from those beliefs. Derek's transformation is gradual and not without setbacks, but it's ultimately a hopeful and uplifting story that shows the power of personal growth and redemption.

One of the major strengths of American History X is its performances. Ed Norton delivers an exceptional performance as Derek, perfectly capturing the character's intelligence, charisma, and anger. He's also able to convey the character's growth and redemption without making it feel forced or contrived. Edward Furlong also gives a strong performance as Danny, a young man who's lost and searching for guidance.

The film is beautifully shot, with a mix of black and white and colour footage that adds to the film's sense of realism. The use of slow-motion and close-ups also help to create a sense of tension and drama. The soundtrack is also brilliant, featuring a mix of punk and hip-hop music that complements the film's themes and tone.

The themes of the film are heavy and challenging, but they're handled with great sensitivity and nuance. The film shows the almost ever-present possibility of redemption and the importance of confronting our own biases and prejudices. It's a film that will stay with you long after the credits roll and will make you think about the nature of hatred and the possibility of change.

Overall, American History X is a powerful and moving film that deserves to be seen. While it's not an easy film to watch, it's an important and necessary one that tackles sensitive and complex issues with intelligence and nuance.

A Fantastic Conclusion to the Infinity Arc, Amazing Cast Despite It's Size - A Thrilling & Memorable Experience
14 February 2023
Avengers: Endgame brings the Avengers and their allies together again in an attempt to reverse the damage caused by Thanos in the previous film, Infinity War. The massive ensemble cast, including all the original team played by Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and Jeremy Renner, along with many more fantastic actors like Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, and Josh Brolin, among many others, created a really thrilling and memorable experience.

The special effects and action sequences are tremendous and provide a visual feast for the eyes. The use of humor and emotional moments, combined with its epic scope, create a powerful and satisfying conclusion to the MCU's "Infinity Stones" story arc that began with Iron Man back in 2008. The film's pace is both brisk and engaging, and its large cast is well-utilized despite its size, and I did actually feel that each character got their moment to shine.

In conclusion, Endgame is an absolute must-see film for fans of superhero movies and anyone who has been following the MCU. The film's powerful conclusion to the Infinity arc and its huge massively talented cast make it a classic that will continue to be enjoyed for generations to come.
