Nine Lives (I) (2016)

Excellent family film
25 February 2017
All I can think is that the critics had cat pee in their coffee. We were looking for a light comedy after a horrible week and this was purrfect (pun intended). It was amazingly lighthearted and fun for something with such potentially dire consequences. The plot was predictable as was the moral, but it's a family film. If adults aren't smarter than ten year olds, we've done something wrong. The film had a few clever moments and bits, I was never bored. Probably partly because they got Kevin Spacey and CHRISTOPHER WALKEN in a kids film! WALKEN was wonderful. My only critique is that I would have liked a longer denouement. I'd wager money that the original script had a father son moment at the end that was cut. A shame. I also would have liked to see what happened to the board. If you want a family friendly, or just a giggler, go for it and ignore the bored elitist reviews. ;-)

Great action flick

I'm really surprised to see such a low average. In my mind, it's Steven Segal's best film, and it's an excellent action movie. It moves at a great pace, the plot is not too trite or unoriginal, especially for the time, and most of it was believable. It's a great popcorn movie!

In short, Steven Segal is the captains friend For some reason he's working as ship's cook Something he's good at, but he's been demoted- I don't recall if we ever found out explicitly why, there's some talk of him getting in trouble, but I don't think they tell us the detail. A surprise party goes wrong, so there's a pretty girl involved when everything goes to heck.

Really enjoyed

Wasn't perfect but no pilot is. Really enjoyed the show, we found it exciting, fast paced, without too much exposition or clumsy explaining. Liked what felt like some fairly realistic situations, hope they give the chance.

Loved seeing Eamonn Walker. he was a favorite actor I hope they give him a good chance to shine.

My only concern with an ensemble cast is not getting enough character development and interest to keep the show going at the beginning before it gets to sink in and develop a stable audience.

And really enjoyed seeing something set in somewhere other than New York or Los Angeles!!

WOW. Want more of this excellent show

We just finished watching the last episode of this incredible show, pounding them down, because each ended with a great cliffhanger and we had to see what happened next.

Found this show to be absolutely riveting, with lots of good points 1) compelling actor in the lead character, watching him was fascinating 2) a clever storyline that frequently surprised me 3) well written and full of action 4) characters that seemed more real, and not one dimensional

I really feel that the lack of a next season was definitely a shame. It really seemed like there was a lot more that could be done.

I'd love to see another season, focusing on the roots of the institute. And given the facts revealed in the last episode, there's lots of potential

Lovely, not girly

So, actually, I HATE Woody Allen films. just saying his name makes me groan and roll my eyes. But I was taking my dad out for his birthday, so we went. And a darn good thing too! The movie was lovely! Owen Wilson was excellent in his role as a successful writer struggling to change, and being too passive- or spineless- to do what he needed to do. The family characters are a little one dimensional, but the heart of the movie isn't about them, but rather the amazing place he finds on his walks at midnight. I was totally caught up in the fiction, and the atmosphere was perfect.

Still hate Allen, but the movie was amazing.

Interested in seeing where it goes

I think it's off to an interesting start. A little rocky, but that's normal in a brand new show, and there could really be some more engaging, magnetic characters, but perhaps those will come along. I think the central cast is still forming. I hope, like Atlantis, they pick up other characters as the show progresses. It's got potential. I can see the point in the Voyager comment, but that's a very basic premise, not much more than saying boy meets girl. Taken completely on its own merits, it's interesting. I'll admit, I wish they had someone from one of the previous shows as a regular. Hope those people at least are able to show up now and then.

There's more angst and trauma in the beginning than I'd like to see, but I will keep watching. I don't have a clear idea of who all the main characters will be.

And the Dr is Scottish, not British.
