Just Watched this Documentary
7 August 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I highly doubt this helped Mr Broadway's cause even a little bit. It was very obvious that the prisoners were "orchestrating" the events that occurred during the filming of this documentary. I did not see any real "abuse" in this film other than from the prisoners with the staged protests, it looked like the film was cut to show one side of the story and not the full process of cell extractions. In one aspect I do feel sorry for Mr Broadway in that he had lousy parents, especially the mother. She is probably worse than he is and watching her at the end was rather sad. If Mr Broadway had done this to show the abuses of the system theme and stuck with just that he would have gotten a lot more sympathy from people but it was very obvious that this was for the "money". Both him and his mother made it very clear throughout the entire video that it was for the money and not for the abuses, the abuse angle was just so it would get picked up by somebody. Hopefully one day he will get out of prison and turn away from the "gang" life and be a good example for his daughter. She still has a chance at a better life.

Good Movie
15 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this film for the first time while I was a teenager and have watched it many times since. While not the most accurate Vietnam movie ever made but still a good one. I like the first half of the movie the best. To me you could feel the build-up to the VC attack on the SF camp, that part was well done. My favorite characters were Sgt Peterson and Sgt Muldoon. To this day the way they killed off Sgt Peterson at the end of the movie was infuriates me, the movie was over for crying out loud..lol.. I believe the main gripe some people have with this movie was that it was pro-war movie which is a no-no in todays and back when the movie was made world view. "Platoon" while a good movie put all of the bad things(executions, rapes, drugs, fragings, insubordinatation, etc.) that happened there into one movie. I also liked the green Beret Hymn at the beginning.

Not Sure of the Motive of this Movie
8 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
First off I really liked the movie. Tommy Lee Jones does a good job playing the part of a distraught father trying to find out what happened to his son. Before I watched this film I assumed this would be an anti-war film about the war in Iraq and after watching it, I am not so sure if it is or not. The last scene of the movie puzzles me because I do not know if it was a protest against the war or a statement to the effect that our soldiers need help re-adjusting back to a normal world. I am really not sure which it is but I suspect the latter. I have seen the documentary on TV, that this story was based on and other than this being in the Southwest part of the country(instead of I believe North Carolina or Georgia) the movie follows it well. I did enjoy the movie.
