Too Slow For Me
11 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This one was too slow for my tastes. I'd never seen it, or heard of it until 2023 Christmas season.

***** SPOILERS *****

It kept reminding me of the 90s movie Falling Down. You can watch the main character of both movies, break down in front if you. Michael Douglas felt he was driven to his act, the same with this Santa. The extra layer is that this character feels he is the true Santa, and has to rid all the people he views as bad.

I was surprised at the first clip, when he found out Santa was fake. I'm used to seeing sex scenes in movies, but their act, especially since dad is wearing a Santa costume, managed to shock me.

I see online that there is a debate as to whether he flew away or not. I believe he'd crashed off the bridge, that'd why he appeared to be in flight.

The lead actor really does an excellent job, but I won't be watching again.

Classic Christmas Horror
10 December 2023
I realize many people love this movie, but it's not for me. I only enjoyed the first 10 minutes or so. The rest was a chore for me to finish.

But I did.

I understand why Billy went off the rails like he did, but it was too silly for me. Typical 80's slasher that I didn't watch until I was many years older. I do find it funny, all the controversies that originally surrounded this movie. I was surprised to learn that tvst were successful in getting it pulled out if theaters. Boy if they could see the movies thag have made since then, their minds would be blown. In the end I think the controversies Did help it in the long run. Would we still remember it, if there wasn't all that surrounding it?

Bah Humbug to This One
9 December 2023
I'm currently on a Christmas horror movie binge. So far, this has been the worst one yet. This story is the same as many that came before it, and it's definitely not one of the good ones. The characters are annoying and I felt nothing when they were being slaughtered. I'm assuming the ones that love this, are all about the gore, which is has plenty of. There wasn't much of a build up, and I couldn't remember who was who.

The backstory just seemed silly. I'm seeing now, that it's labeled a horror/comedy but I never saw any comedy. I only saw ridiculousness.

Wasn't worth a second viewing, actually wasn't even worth a first viewing.

Skip this one, unless you just feel compelled to see silly deaths and lots of gore.

Merry Christmas To Me
8 December 2023
I'm so grateful I heard about this Christmas Horror movie.

I wasn't expecting top notch entertainment, but I was presently surprised!

A few minutes in, I thought I had it all figured out, but I was completely wrong, and it went in a different direction, way different. I don't know when but at some point I realized how dark this really was. As a female, there were some scenes that were uncomfortable to watch. It's a shame more people don't know about it. I don't want to give any of the storyline away, because I want you to get the full effect. After I was creeped out, by the time the credits roll, I was smiling. It's rare movie that can do this!

Glad I found this one
8 December 2023
We've all seen this type of story before, but this one holds up to the rest of them! I'm not sure why the scores are so low. I found out about from a horror YouTube channel, doing a countdown of not to miss Christmas movies. And I'm glad I did. The main characters are great, and some of the scenes can really get scary or creepy. I personally haven't seen the female lead before, but I remember the male lead from American Horror Story.

I'd recommend this movie, and I'd give it a rewatch! We don't have hundreds of Christmas horror movies, so we should appreciate the ones we have.

Thanks to the channel that told me about it!

This Episode Only Pissed Me Off
4 October 2021
It's obvious this was a rush job. The ending didn't even make any sense.

Very disappointing considering I've loved this season so far.

Very Slow Buildup

The first few episodes were slow to me, but if you can stick with it- the payoff is definitely worth. I just finished it and I'm still processing it. Mike Flannigan is a genius, and his Kate continues to blow me away.

Highly Disappointed
22 August 2021
I love American Horror Story, even the ones considered "bad." There's a magic to them I can't get elsewhere.

I had high hopes for the last episode, because it did start on strong, but quickly slipped into ridiculousness.

I rated all episodes very low, I only gave Feral a 6, because of Cody Fern.

I've read people remarking that this is more for teens. I told my teens don't bother.

I Don't Understand The Hate
15 August 2021
I've watched all 3 parts, and thoroughly enjoyed each one. I thought the music choices were great, and can you really have too much?

It had deaths that I didn't see coming, and it completely resolved itself.

To me it was a good mix of Scream, American Horror Story and Goosebumps. Fun horror geared towards young adults.

Im not the best review writer, but if you are a horror fan of slashers, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Cheesy Cheesy
30 August 2020
I consider myself a true crime fanatic. Out of the many ID shows, this is the most cheesy. It's presented to show everyone that could be the killer, in the silliest way possible. The overdone evil glares, and dramatic mini arguments just take away from the seriousness of the topic. It's definitely disrespectful, in my humble opinion.

Cringe alert!
29 March 2019
I wanted to like this a lot, because my daughter loved it. She'd seen it the night before my husband and me, and couldn't wait to share it with us. It was okay, and I'm glad I've seen it, but cmon people- it was extremely cheesy. The actor playing Vince was a twin for Dana Carver in Wayne's World. That was a bit distracting for me. It was decent, not something I'd watch again. Watch if you love the band, but be prepared for lots of cringe.

Of Course She Stayed!
12 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Where would season 3 be if she left? What would happen to Hannah? She knows one baby will be safe, now it's time to safe her firstborn and her friends. June is pissed. The women are getting pissed. It's time to form the biggest girl power team ever assembled on TV and take down Gilead. Yes it was frustrating, yes it was intense, yes nothing happened like I expected, but that's exactly what I want in a season finale! The first season was excellent storytelling and television, season 2 was mind blowing and powerful. I'm not a feminist, and I've never been interested in building up women, or helping other women. Not that I'm against it, it just has never been an issue in my own small circle. But this show gives me a new perspective on us girls. The scenes that showed the wives asking the council for help, the ending where every woman was helping June and the baby, the scenes that showed June and Serena dealing with policy while Commander Waterford was in the hospital: those gave me goosebumps. They made me realize, we are something great, and even greater when we team up together. I felt like the ending was perfect for this roller coaster of a season. I'm sorry for the ones that hated it. But imagine how much better season 3 will be for her making that frustrating decision.

Expected a Little More Strangeness
17 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I'm obsessed with Florida, and I'm obsessed with true crime. Judging by the title, this should be my all time favorite show. However, there's not much of the strangeness going on that was advertised.

Most of the episodes show the standard setup; add some people close to the crime, throw in a few reenactments, mix well and serve.

Only one episode met the strange criteria for me. A lady kills her husband, and gets off for the crime. Fast forward several years later, this lady uses the same gun to shoot her son. That was strange, and I'll even add crazy.

I do realize how caullios I seem, stating that someone's murder was just not strange enough for me. I remind myself that these stories include real life people, and many of them carry their pain throughout their life. But, if your going to add strange to your title, you should bring the strangeness. In my opinion, this show is just average.

The Hunt (II) (2015)

Wow
12 November 2017
Someone told my husband about The Hunt. Since that evening, I've tracked down and researched all shows that are similar. I have been binge watching, as much as my personal schedule allows. I'm obsessed. The narration is spot on. The scenes are amazingly shot. I know that I've never said wow this many times, when watching a show. It just falls out of my mouth, as I continue to be awed. I told my husband last night, there are so many places we will never see. So much beauty. And watching a show like this, makes you, or at least me, realize- we really don't know crap. There's more to life and our world, when we branch out of our bubble. Every one of these creatures learn the skills they need to survive. Every one must learn how to feed and fend for themselves. And every one must learn how to hide and take shelter from an attack. They are all miraculous, from the ant to the blue whale. They each fail and succeed, but keep trying, until death stops them. Definitely a must watch, for all ages.

Unforgettable Movie
1 October 2017
Who knew such innocent words, like I want to watch a movie, would lead to scenes I'll never ever never forget in my life. I'm not recommending this movie to anyone, because if I do, and you think it's horrible, you will think I'm twisted for liking it. In my defense, I haven't really been watching movies for years, maybe this is how they are all made these days Out to shock you as much as humanly possible I went into this movie knowing absolutely nothing about it. And I had to close my eyes and cover my ears more than once. And I'm pretty tough when it comes to things like that. It was rated really low on IMDb And I understand why. The acting was laughable. The lines were completely stupid at some points. It tries way too hard to be an old western, but I think that was part of the point. Even the film style looked like an old one. So you literally felt like "oh I'm just watching an old film like my dad would have watched." "And look, there's Clint Eastwood's daughter, isn't that sweet." But it's definitely not sweet. And I absolutely loved it.

The Best Show on TV That You Haven't Heard Of Yet
31 August 2017
I really really enjoyed this series! Granted, I've only seen the first season, but I'm excited for the upcoming episodes! I can absolutely say, I personally liked it better than Stranger Things. I'm 40 so I've only heard about Creepypasta from my kids. I had known about Candle Cove, but I did not know there was a TV show about it until yesterday. I downloaded the SYFY app and binged them all. Some parts of the story started teetering on ridiculousness, but because of the story line, it made sense. Just when the "oh here we go, it's about to get stupid" scenes were on, they'd pull back just enough. I think the episode format worked well, as they were able to explain the story in more depth. I believe had it been a movie, it would have been just another stupid horror movie. I'm glad I found it and I do wish the show had been marketed or promoted more. I'm a die hard fan of American Horror Story, and while this no where near touched the shocking aspects of that show, it was definitely eerie enough to keep me intrigued. I liked the characters and the acting was believable. I've read in places that SYFY is known for canceling their shows. I really hope the second season draws a bigger crowd, maybe through word of mouth so this show will have a good run.

Bates Motel: The Cord (2017)
Season 5, Episode 10
Back To The Beginning
27 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
It's been 24 hours since I watched the finale. My husband and I believe it was predictable, but it's how it should have ended.

I started the show when it first aired. However the long delays irritated me. I quit watching once he went into the box. We picked it back up once we could binge watch. I broke down and bought the final season because I had to see how it ended.

***spoilers***

I was sad going into this last show because I will miss the characters I've grown to love. I feel like the last season was a little off and didn't have the same magic because of Norma. I hated to see her go and her absence just made the show miss something. There were seasons I really enjoyed more than others, but I was glad to get this wrapped up.

I was fine with Chick's death because that shooting was typical Alex. I believe Norman and Alex should have struggled a little more.

I literally got goosebumps when I saw the direction we were going, back to the beginning, in Norman's journey home. This was beautiful and I enjoyed every flashback between the current and first episode. Those conversations between him and his mother are what I will remember about this show. Norman just looked so accepting of where he was in his head. Relaxed. Oh Mother.

I was not fond of Emma this season, but I really never cared for her. However she was a major pain this time. To me she seemed cruel to Dylan for no reason. And to tell Caleb to leave? That wasn't her place, or her choice to make.

Second to the goosebumps scene was one of the last ones. Dylan has just shot Norman. After rocking him in his arms the camera starts to pull away. The dinner table is full, with a dead Norma sitting at the head of the table. Oh and that head. The way her head is plopped over, eyes peering into dead space, with her sons in the floor behind her, this was one of the most eerie of the season. Perfect end shot.

The end details can be argued, but the passion of this story can not. If you were ready to walk into the Bates crazy world, they were ready to entertain you. I fell in love with these characters. I hate this part of the few shows that have really gotten my attention. The goodbyes. I will miss this crazy bunch.
