The Crow (1994)
Love, Revenge,Redemption...
4 December 2002
Warning: Spoilers
This is by far one of the greatest films of all time. The set design was fantastic to the last detail. The costume design was superb, the cinematography was excellent, and the acting ranged from good to great. As for the story...A man coming back from the dead to avenge he and his wife's murder at the hands of a ruthless street gang...it isn't what it first appears to be. Brandon Lee's character is not some machine gun toting, mindless zombie, but a confused man who at first dosen't even realise what happened to him. You watch as his development into the ultimate dark hero unfolds before your eyes. This film has a very dark atmosphere, which is accented by the hero, who is just as dark as the world he inhabits. Dark, yes, but evil Brandon Lee's character certaintly is not.(spoiler ahead) Other then avenging his lovers's murder,The Crow also helps a little girl and her heroine addicted mother, which gives a back drop for one of the greatest lines in film history. ( Brandon Lee holds the little girl's mother who has been neglecting her, as he uses some magick to make her body reject the morphine she had just injected, and he says 'look at yourself, your're a mother..."MOTHER MEANS GOD OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF CHILDREN'"

This is more of a love story for men, who, unlike women, a more affected by the duty and honor part of being in love, where as women seem to care only for childish "romance" stuff ( Titanic). I think men more so then women would understand this timeless story of revenge in the name of the one you would ( and in this case, did) die for.

Be honest...you like it!

Now, I don't understand how so many people feel that pornography is perfectly alright, if viewed and created by and for consenting adults, but at the same time despise death-films like this classic. I mean, sexuality is a normal part of human life which is celebrated and used as entertainment for adults who are mature enough to handle it. So, why can't it be the same way for violence and death? For the record, most of this film is fake (sense there's no way could amature video could capture and edit multiple camera angles) but even if it was real, as long as no one killed for the sole purpose of making the film (snuff) then what's the big deal? Don't thousands of people watch the assassination of JFK in history classes, over and over again? don't they show those scenes of the WTC falling down over and over again? what's the difference? And come on, we all have a fascination with death and violence. It is a s much a part of our identity as is our sexuality. But I don't see people calling erotica "sick" now do I? So then what is wrong with consenting adults watching "Faces of Death" or other such films? Nothing. And no matter who I've talked to about this film, I have yet to meet one person who did not sit down and watch the whole thing when given the chance. Face it...it's fascinating! :)

Psycho (1960)
2/10
Boring,cheesy,and overated!
13 November 2002
Warning: Spoilers
This has got to be one of the most overrated movies in history. What, pray-tell, is soooo scary about a man in a dress weilding a kitchen knife? No atmosphere, painfully tedious dialog, and a slow moving plot make this "classic" not worth seeing. how could anyone be frightned by this piece of rubbish? Not I. If you wanna be scared, go see "The Ring" or "Event Horizon", two very under-rated movies that scare while making you think. If you want to see a no brain, guy-with-a-knife slasher flick..or better yet, if you need help going to sleep, then by all means, rent "Psycho"

The Postman (1997)

A Very good post-apocalyptic film
28 August 2002
This film was excellent. The acting ranged from average to good, the fight scenes were convincing, the costume design was superve, and the set design phenomenal. The problem with this film is, that it's sci-fi, and as we all know, sci-fi has that nasty habit of making people think. And hay, who likes to do that nowadays? This film asks the question...what if, right now, all of civilization fell apart. no more super-market, no more police, no more government. The truth of all things would be revealed...money would be just green paper, your television would be a piece of junk, and everything that you lived for would take a back seat to survival. Who would you be? a Warrior, a wonderer, a tyrant, a diplomat? would the meek inhereit the earth? would the rich and powerful be pathetic and powerless when their paper-empires crumble in the nuclear war? and America...would that dream of the land of the free, home of the brave survive after it's government has been destroyed? and who would preserve it? who would insure that after the End, the government of the people, by the people and for the people would not parish from the Earth? would you? This film is a must-see for thinking people...for all you brainless slaves of the critics...stay home and watch Titanick(Hurl!) for the tenth time.
