A ten in my books
1 February 2016
A good film. In my set of values, it deserves a 10. Why? It has everything that a good film has to have: good story, motivation, good cinematography, good acting, great set with lots of action and of course, something that a lot of productions lack... moral.

Now: I love the story. Yes, it might not be told in the typical Hollywood style with a lot of CGI and explosions (don't expect the Fast and Furious saga - it wasn't made with that purpose), but it's exactly what you'd like to watch. A film that tells a story of redemption, of hope and freedom.

I have to say that I loved 3 characters: - the "uncle" played by John Schneider who did a beautiful job in making the character seem so real and so natural - the "patient" played by Gregory Alan Williams who made me smile the moment he open his mouth. He made me smile because the kindness and the wisdom was shining. Great character cover. I followed him throughout the film and every time when he was on screen I had a smile on my face... from various reasons - the "track guy" played by Mark Jeffrey Miller who fit those overalls not just with his physic but with his entire talent. Love how he nailed the accent and the looks

I will not say anything about the story because I want to let you enjoy it to the max, but there are a lot of elements that will jump at you from the dialogue and from the action.

Yes, could the film be made better? Yes, like any other film. You know how it is: every time when you finish something and you deliver you think of improvements. But, as I said: it's a 10 for me because it has all the elements a good film should have.

Enjoy! :)

George Lucas: No no no no no!
30 December 2015
Why did I entitled the review this way? Because if I was George Lucas... this is what I would've said at the premiere of this film. Sad...

I am a fan since I was a kid. I used to sneak in the cinemas to see the first 2 episodes over and over again. We used to fight with sticks that in our minds were shiny lightsabers. We grew up and we loved every episode that came out... but this one... It's a disappointment for me.

I will have to say that I admire the acting and all the technology that went into it, the cast and crew and that it really hurts me to give it such a rate.

I'll spell it in bullet points why and I will do my best to avoid spoilers.

So: 1. They timed the episode so they can sync it to the age of the old cast to they can bring them back. Nothing wrong in that. I even liked it. It was really good to see the iconic faces. But what they did to the characters... I'll let you judge.

2. I could smell the plot from a mile. Why? Because it wasn't something to keep you guessing all the way.

3. The movie was focus on making a huge hype to people break the box office, not on carrying the story and the legendary characters, telling a series of exciting tales.

4. Lots of scenes were done just to bring back memories as they were almost cloned from the older episodes... seriously. Watch carefully and you tell me if I'm right.

5. I tried to understand who's the main character in this one and honestly they did a great job in confusing me. I did figure it out, but the fog they spread over the story made it so hard to identify who I should follow and relate and even care about.

6. The shaking of a particular character made me single him out way before the reveal and his implication into the story... which started pretty slow.

7. A lot of the Star Wars characters are missing... and honestly... I was hoping to bring them back at least for some moments... even in a flashback.

8. The lightsaber fights are not spectacular at all. It's almost like watching a Medieval show or some Comic Con fans having fulling around.

9. Someone is using the lightsaber like (he/she) had 7 lives to learn all that. I remember the tough times Like and the others had to go through to master the weapon and the other Jedi abilities.

10. Someone is becoming a Jedi just by thinking is one. Again... I don't want to push spoilers on you, but it's happening. I hope you catch the moment.

11. There is another reveal in the film that is totally ordinary. They are trying to build the moment... but it's too short and way too slim because we don't know the story behind the character and we didn't see anything epic happening to it to come to the situation he is in at the moment.

12. The ending... no comment. I don't want to say too much because I don't want to spoil it. Slow and way too "epic" for what it is. I was expecting something to finish the film to lead you into the other one... because you know that will start producing them on a conveyor belt once Disney put their hands on it.

I'll stop here... there's a lot to talk about but I am sure a bunch of YouTUBErs jumped on it already.

So... again. Disappointing. And I am disappointed that I am disappointed. Even worse.

As I said: I bet George Lucas was saying "No no no no no no..." in his mind when he watched it.

A true friend doesn't stay silent
30 August 2015
That is the main purpose of the film: to remind us that if we are good friends to someone and we want to help, doesn't matter the circumstances, we need to speak up. That's something that people forgot along the history trying to be politically correct and not upset anyone. But we all know: truth hurts sometimes... and it hurts so much that the receiver is in denial.

The subject of the film: if being gay or not is a sin, if it's right or not... it depends on how you look at the "6" or "9" drawn with chalk on asphalt. And... here's your chance to look at it from both sides and decide which one you like to see.

The author: doesn't stop to amaze me with the logic and the simple arguments that he's talking to people and how he gets people to agree with him. He has an unique style. I watched "180" and to see how people turned around regarding abortion was just beautiful.

I give it a 10 because the film is done beautiful, the cast and crew did a good job and the story is powerful.

PS :) I don't care if you don't agree with me :) Is my opinion :)

Why would you do that?
15 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
OK. I was really curious to see what they came up with and I got really anxious to watch the movie, but... big disappointment. Well, Christian was brilliant and the other cast, the CGI was great, the atmosphere of the film, the editing, the sound, so technically was well done, but why would you work so much on a movie on the technical part ignoring what's the most important in a film: the story.

I don't have anything against the vision, the view and how they tried to tackle the series of Bible stories... and we all know it's a sensitive subject... but to try to explain everything in such a humanistic or scientific way keeping the main story meaning away from the audience... it's sad. They tried to explain everything with poor kindergarten stories.

Another thing: having God being portrayed as a kid and the burning bush just being there as decoration... funny.

Ah, and the best one: the miracle of splitting the waters... as washed down to a tide... funny.

Anyway. Once again. Sorry. Real disappointing and sorry for all the work was put into it.

My kind of movie
15 June 2015
This movie had it all: history, love, fiction, legend, mystery, thirst, a good cast, great lead actor, powerful delivery, great story telling and emotional charge at several points in the film that would not let you relax, but get you involve in the story, great execution from costumes and make up to the CGI bats and the use of them.

I don't know what I can say more. It's just so good. Yes, it had small imperfections like any other things man made, but it left a mark on me and you know, the movies that you're still talking about after several months you watched it, are good.

This is my kind of movie!

Total disappointment
3 February 2015
OK. Let me say it from the beginning that the acting was brilliant, the crew did a good job on the tech part and the film, on the production, post production side, is a good one.

But: who writes this scripts? Who has this stupid ideas and wants to sell them to us as jokes, as comedy? It really took all these people to come up with such an imbecile story? Sean Anders ... (written by) & John Morris ... (written by) and Peter Farrelly ... (written by) & Bobby Farrelly ... (written by) & Bennett Yellin ... (written by) & Mike Cerrone ... (written by)

Back in 1994 it's been only 3 of them and the comedy was brilliant: Peter Farrelly ... (written by) & Bennett Yellin ... (written by) & Bobby Farrelly ... (written by)

There is something happening here: 1. Or we really suck lately as a society and the humour got weirder and weirder 2. Or these guys just lost it and they should just let it be

This is another confirmation that whatever movie has a 2 in title (I mean as a sequel) it's bad... no matter how you spell it.

What disappointed me was that they didn't spend any time on the story. I bet they just got together one evening and start pulling situations and after that they just found ways to tie them together.

We know that tile is Dumb and Dumber, but we're not them. Really?

I loved the story in the first one, the way it was flowing and how we were feeling for the characters. In the second one was all around sex and they were jerks... if that does 20 years to people... then I am really disappointed.

Why? Beside the fact that they thought of using as the main character Justin Long ("The Mac Guy" from the "Hi I'm a Mac..." commercials) and made you think "where do I know this guy from?" ;), they made the story so simple and impactful. They kept the core of the story and made it into a beautiful funny time line of "history of innovation" I don't want to give away too much, but we all know that Ashton Kutcher looks a lot more like Steve Jobs and he did a great job in "Jobs", but the flair Justin is bringing to this story, the awkward friendship with Woz (Jorge Garcia most popular for "Lost"), the funny rivalry with Bill Gates and the entire air of the film makes me say it: it's better than "Jobs". Period.

Stunning Romanian Surprise
27 October 2014
I have to say it: Beautiful!

The Romanians did it this time. This American-Romanian collaboration brought the Romanian production value to a new level. I was impressed of how ALL the Romanian actors spoke English so relaxed, the story was good, the cinematography and the entire production was tight together in one really nice final product.

I love how they took the so popular subject of the Transilvanian Vamipre and brought it down to earth in such a simple and so realistic manner that it will make a lot of people wonder if these things are really happening.

Impressed!

Deceiving
1 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I'll be short. I am disappointed: the main reason is because I was expecting to get some good information on God, Spiritualism, Religion and everything that surrounds us... Instead I got a student-teacher rivalry that ends up stupid.

I can't help myself. I have to say it: I don't like that the writers made "the kid" win by using teacher's information from his confession. It's not fair, Christian and so on. In my opinion he didn't win fair, he didn' t convince the people that "God's not Dead" he just won the fight... and that's it... and that doesn't characterize a Christian person.

In rest, the film is good and the production, the acting and everything that doesn't have anything to do with the story is good.

I loved to see Kevin Sorbo in this role. He nail it to the cross, so to speak...

80s were good!
29 June 2014
This is a typical story from the '80s that keeps you at the edge of your sit and with a full bladder... yep. You'll not be able to take a bathroom break even if you stream it.

A blind hero helps a family. A village helps a G.I. A villain gets it. A strong friendship begins. A touching story unfolds.

I loved everything about this movie. The story is like a good book that you can't put it down and you want to keep turning the pages.

There is friendship, action, history and again action! Love the way they played with the title of the movie. Sharp... if you catch my drift.

You need to see what's happening at the end. Brilliant.

My kind of Knight!
29 June 2014
I say that because I was tired of movies where all the knights must be bodybuilders, they have to have a perfect face and to walk with their noses so high that you couldn't reach them with an arrow.

I love the simple story of this young man that pursues his dream since he was a boy and didn't let anyone tell him he can't do it.

The story is full of humour, but has a sad part and it even has parts where you get some goose bumps and even a tear or two, happy ones.

This film was my favourite for years. I hunted down and I watch both version, I got it on DVD and watched it several times.

I would tell you some more, but the story is so beautiful, I don't want to spoil it for you. Believe me, you'll love it!

Awakes Every American Hero in Us
29 June 2014
This is the feeling I had when I watched the movie.

I love movies with a good story, with a twist, with action and romance, with humour and courage... and this movie has it all.

I will skip the technical part where all the scenes were shoot with nice camera movements, not over the top, where the cross fires looked so real, you'd think that someone really got hurt, where the aerial shots around the White House being under siege are so convincing and so on. I will just skip that and jump to acting.

For me Channing Tatum is new on the big stage, but what an appearance. I love his style. Simple. Convincing and calm. He pinned down his character so good. Same thing with Jamie Foxx. They made a good team in this one.

Loved it! Favorite list, you got another one!

Great idea... Was it an inception?
29 June 2014
Warning: Spoilers
As I said a lot of times: the best thing in a movie is the story. You don't have a good story, you can have the best actors and the best crew creating full worlds and CGI... it's worthless.

Excellent idea! I loved to concept of the film. It was brilliant to see the story unfolding in front of your eyes like an onion, layer by layer, forcing your brain to make fast connections following the story thread that was suspended in time. Superb.

The acting was beautiful and everything else in the movies. It's one of my favourites for sure! And I know that idea wasn't an inception... Maybe I should watching again soon... Hope that one wasn't an inception. No... It wasn't. I really like this movie.

Great story. Good moral. Fun time.
26 June 2014
I have to admit it... I am hooked on animations. Did you get it? :)

OK. This is another proof that animations are for all ages and if the story is good and it has a moral that relates to all of us, it's a success.

Really well done. Great voice acting. Fluid animation and cute characters that are alive.

Loved it! Watched it several times... and every time you discover something new...

Try to catch the pelican saying "nice" with an Australian accent and flying way... did you get the reason? Hilarious. Smooth humour.

All together: Beautiful!

Designed to entertain
24 June 2014
Brilliant! The idea and the writing was just great! The twists in the story and the suspense, the imagination and the ideas combined to bring to life a Sci-Fi that turned to reality several years ago it's just crazy!

Loved it! First of all: two great actors (at least in their league) really faced off in this movie displaying a wide range of emotions and getting up on the edge of the seat in almost every scene.

Then, the entire action, the sequence of little details that got to the point where you almost lost the thread, but they brought you back just in time to go: Aha!

Great movie! At least in my opinion.

RoboCop (2014)

Messing up with Legends. Killing the story.
24 June 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I was curios to see how they will bring the story to the 21st Century and I was disappointed. It's true. I couldn't help myself in comparing it to the original one from '87 that I grew up with and I admit it, it was one of my favourites... but still.

Why was I disappointed? The story was totally different. Something pretty common these days. Look at Snow White, Jack the Giant Slayer, Spider-man and so on. Now, the main reason is that they didn't make me connect with the character at all.

Let me explain it in plain English: the writers didn't do their job. Why? In the old one you had the main character being introduced gradually and even that you knew that the movie it's about a robot, you didn't know who and what until he opened he's eyes after the tragical end he suffered. I remember how after each shot I was hurting with the character. In this one... they just planted a car bomb. Really?

Then, the story of his family, the connection, the love, the passion, the bond with his son... it's all so plain and so dull. In the old one it was a strong connection with the son. They even had the cool cowboy gun trick that let some people know that Robocop is Murphy. Even his son gets it through that simple, favourite, gesture.

And so on...

I am not saying: the entire cast and crew did a beautiful job on the technical part of the movie, but the story was not there.

They improved a lot on the suit, on the design. They brought it more to the present where we love sleek shiny things, but again: not a good story.

I don't know how many time I will have to say it. In my books, because I wasn't enticed with a good story to keep me at the edge of my seat, I would've give it a 1. But because I know a lot of people worked day and night on it... it's a 4.

Sorry. Once again: Disappointed. Sorry...

Trash Treasure and all in between...
26 March 2014
A simple story told in the best way. You need to watch this. It's not too long and the pace is keeping you watching until the end.

I bet some of you will be recognizing themselves in the characters. I hope you're on the good side. If not, then you should take action.

For the small budget that the film had, it's a good production. The costume and the props of the slum girl are really good.

The story is put together reasonable in the post-production and all in all it's a good film that deserves a look and then a Like and a Share.

I can't wait to see what other stories this film maker wants to share with us. I think I found a diamond in the rough. I will be following to see where is he going, what path he will take.

Powerful and touching
25 October 2013
This film almost brought me to tears... and I'm a guy. So, ladies, prepare a tissue, or maybe a box. You'll need it. It's a powerful story which exposes a strong character locked in a little girl. I am sure it will move a large audiences.

The film is well put together and the story flows at a pace that keeps you front of the screen steering feelings in the viewer and reaching deep into the heart.

The cinematography is just beautiful. The simple black and white technique accentuates the story and fits perfectly the atmosphere of the situation. Everything was just beautiful and merged harmonically into the final cut: the framing, the camera movement, the angles. Beautiful.

Beautiful acting. Simple emotions are portrait by the actors in a connecting way making the audience feel for the characters and immerse in the story. I know it will be a moment when you'll find yourselves startling as you were there, right there.

Great ending that culminates the entire story like fireworks and then... peace.

Once again: Beautiful!

Simple and beautiful
13 June 2011
Simple story with beautiful people and beautiful feelings. Loved the acting. Peter did a wonderful job with this character and by being so simple and calculated, so patient and tolerant, made me go "just punch him" several times during the movie. Great job Bobby. Nice job making the character so annoying. Beautiful acting! Fluent story telling with all kinds of moments triggering all kinds of feelings in the viewers. Surprise ending. Keeps you on the edge of the seat until the end. Prepare tissues.

All mixed up by a lost woman's feelings.

A romantic movie that made me feel like I fell back in the '80 when people used to know how to make good movies with not too much CGI.

I would say some more but you have to see it to be able to come back to me and tell me: man, you were right.

The only word the describes this film is: Beautiful!

Stop messing up the kids!
10 February 2009
I got so bored and so confused... and I am an adult... with some brain. I am thinking of the poor kids that, I bet, they felt lost in the "tale".

I know what they did: They made some nice cute characters that would make kids fall in love with them fast and easy and the story... didn't matter any more. I see it more and more that the movies in this times have such a messy script, is unbelievable.

I am disappointed because the trailer, like all the other ones, is amazing making you so curious about the story that you are "craving" the movie... and when you see it... you just go: "this is it?"

Anyway, that's my opinion and honestly I didn't even watch the ending... and I love animations!

Conclusion: a stupid cheap copy of "Flushed away", "Ratatouille" and another bits and pieces from diverse movies. Get it together producers! How? Start with good writers!

3 is a really good mark in my chart for this movie.
