Expedition X (2020– )
7/10
Destination Truth 2.0
9 December 2020
This isn't a bad show to say the least. The cast of the show needs some work, but I like when this show hunts down monsters whether they exist or not. However I did not like how they added in fake screams in one of the investigations, but I guess that was for entertainment purposes. Overall, it's a nice spin off to expedition unknown with josh as the big boss. I don't believe people know what they are talking about when they give this show a terrible review. Why does joshes entire crew have to be involved? I guess people don't know what a change of pace looks like.

bonnie and clyde review
14 December 2009
is one of the sixties' most talked-about, volatile, controversial crime/gangster films combining comedy, terror, love, and ferocious violence. The story of Clyde's rise and self-destructive fall as an anti-authoritarian criminal gangster is clearly depicted. Both tragic outlaw figures exemplify 'innocents on the run' who cling to each other and try to function as a family. The film, with many opposing moods and shifts in tone (from serious to comical), is a cross between a gangster film, tragic-romantic traditions, a road film and buddy film, and screwball comedy. The movie simultaneously romanticizes the duo while de-mythologizing them. The relationship between these two is presented as one of the 20th century's great romances (the facts indicate that it wasn't; in fact, Bonnie and Clyde may not have been lovers).

The Graduate (1967)
The graduate review
14 December 2009
The graduate was definitaly a favorite movie of mine. its funny but yet romantic style keeps the audience in line as to what is going to happen next. This is probably one of Dustin Hoffmans greatest early work and rise to success. it is one of the key, ground-breaking films of the late 1960s, and helped to set in motion a new era of film-making. The film is a biting satire comedy about a recent nebbish, East Coast college graduate who finds himself alienated and adrift in the shifting, social and sexual mores of the 1960s, and questioning the values of society (with its keyword "plastics"). This comedy is wonderfully crafted by director Nichols who presents a half-dozen hilarious scenes, including Hoffman escaping badgering advice by submerging himself in the family pool in scuba gear and Bancroft's sudden shift from respectable matron to predatory tease, hiking her skirts lasciviously and purring promises of smoldering sex which almost put Hoffman into a comatose state. Nichols was to declare: "I think Benjamin and Elaine will end up exactly like their parents; that's what I was trying to say in the last scene." Yet the well-to-do younger audiences of the day interpreted this sequence of blatant heroics as a wonderful act of defiance by two young people whose destinies were being manipulated by their parents.

dr. strangelove review
14 December 2009
There's not a false note in Dr. Strangelove. This 1964 black and white comedy about the ultimate madness of nuclear conflict and the bloody folly of war is a stunning success, and one of the best Cold War movies ever to be made. From the evocative credit sequence of a B-52 bomber and a KC-135 tanker pairing for a romantic mid-air refueling to the totally ridiculous names for all the characters, Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb is the funniest black and white film that I have watched yet. It is widely regarded as the screen's greatest satire, a film that terrifically encapsulates the fear and paranoia of the Cold War. There is not a sequence in the motion picture in which the dialogue is not quotable -- certainly, there are so many well-remembered moments that viewers and critics will disagree on the best, though surely the sight of Major Kong waving his cowboy hat as he rides the bomb into oblivion is among the most enduring images of its era.

Seven Days in May (1964) review
14 December 2009
This movie was a classic political intrigue, with Kirk Douglas, Fredric March, and Burt Lancaster wrapped up in a plot to overthrow the president! The film is packed with heavy material, courtesy of Rod Serling's master writing. Unfortunately, when the going gets good, meaning really hitting a fever pitch on day seven, the story goes limp and the ending is a big letdown. Still, Lancaster is unparalleled in a rare bad guy character, helped of course with an cordially solid supporting staff. This is one of Frankenheimer's best works. The confrontations between Burt Lancaster and Frederic March are written with a real tension, something well brought out by Frankenheimer who frames each argument in dreary relief. The climax of the film where Frederic March stands up and says that the greatness of a nation is built on peace is the sort of stuff that winning political speeches are made of. Frankenheimer shoots the conflict with a plainness that conveys a maximum degree of cold, frightening tension. It is tension that is aided enormously by Jerry Goldsmith's score, which consists solely of big, basso snare drumbeats.

the naked kiss review
2 December 2009
The Naked Kiss is an exceptional film that isn't easily determined as either good or bad. this movie has an incredible collection of contradictions. The movie has that sort of tabloid sensibility that smacks the viewer right in the face. Of course, this upright film also tells about the serious issues, displaying sympathy and admiration for some of society's outcasts. the film is an exploitative melodrama, telling a story about a sexy prostitute who tries to "pass" in a respectable society. Fuller's sympathy is strong-minded, intelligent, and has a self-reliant person. his film could be measured as a strong feminist indictment of the way men abuse and exploit women. Fuller confounds ideas of quality so much that it's difficult to tell whether certain scenes are intended to be sincerely over-romantic or intentionally overdone. It does seem, however, that he was deliberately subverting at least some of the clichés that surface in this film.

kiss me deadly review
2 December 2009
It is a classic noir. Robert Aldrich's black and white picture stars Ralph Meeker as the lantern-jawed PI Mike Hammer - a man so tough you're never sure whether he's going to stub out his cigarette in the palm of his hand or in somebody else's eyeball. After picking up the scantily-clad girl he's just run down, Hammer finds himself in a semi-conscious state while his hitchhiker is slowly being tortured to death. The cops want Hammer to spill his guts, but instead the dick decides to carry out his own investigation - a labyrinthine feat that will introduce him to the baddest of the bad and see him come into contact with a container whose contents are so dangerous they make Pandora's Box look like a packet of Quality Street. The brutality of the film's characters and its scenario are appalling enough today, but in 1955, they were something else. While the movie portrays the tough guy look and personality, it also has a payoff drawn directly from the fears of the Cold War. Manhattan Project…Los Alamos…Trinity; these are the key words that signal the change in the film's setting from regular crime to nuclear danger. But on the way to its ending, director Robert Aldrich makes it a relentlessly hazardous experience, with a hero you wouldn't want to have as a friend, and a sense of dread so blatant that cinematographer Ernest Laszlo captures it on film.

Psycho (1960)
psycho review
2 December 2009
Psycho is the greatest horror film ever made, hands down. This is probably one of Alfred Hitchcocks more famous and better work in his career. Even though he is an odd person, he has the mind of an odd mysterious suspenseful genius. Hitchcock does not disappoint by leaving out his trademark dark humor. His brilliance is in making a climax that is at once both scary and hilarious. For too long the famous shower scene with the girl getting murdered is still a favorite scene to remember from people when they talk about Psycho. Also, The Bates Motel is a famous landmark name in the movie. The storyline is well done, the acting is almost to perfection, and the cinematography is acceptable in every way.

sunset blvd review
2 December 2009
I think it is always interesting when a movie presents the ending results first. Sunset Blvd in my opinion was an interesting and well done movie. "Im ready for my closeup Mr. Deville." is one of the more famous quotes in movie history. The one part that i thought was a little weird was the dead monkey scene. its not everyday you see a person with a pet monkey. but the way Norma Desmond acted, was alittle weird and obsessive for my taste. the funeral ceremony of the dead monkey in Norma's courtyard must have been for one important chimp. the lighting and picture of this black and white film noir are captivating and impressive;example, the strange butler playing the creepy organ in the middle of the most deep and dustiest sets ever. For Holden, he has the voice-over of the perfect narrator for this movie. How little did he know that when he pulled his car into a driveway off of the boulevard that it would change his life forever! He is the symbol of the struggle to get notoriety. Swanson as Norma Desmond is the symbol of lost fame and has become the talk of legend.

Notorious (1946)
Notorious review
8 November 2009
Alfred Hitchcock has always been a favorite of mine and after watching Notorious i would have to say it is one of his classic romantic espionage thrillers, with passionate, brilliant performances by Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman, featuring one of the most famous screen kisses in film history. the story has very unique Punchy dialog that animates this action-driven thriller that maintains its suspenseful drama to the very end. We of course cannot forget how the film uses the camera so perfectly, mixing objective and subjective points of view flawlessly. The scenes of course that i am talking about are Hitchcock's awesome crane shot that ends on Bergman's hand holding the all-important key, as well as Grant and Bergman's kissing scene, played out in one long shot and made up of dozens of little pecks and nibbles.

mildred pierce review
8 November 2009
Throughout the movie, both characters had its ups and downs trying to win each other and/or try to make a better living for themselves. Most of the story has nothing to do with crime, and is instead about the efforts of Crawford's character to better herself. in an effort to be successful, she starts a popular restaurant so she can remain in the good graces of her relentlessly snobbish daughter. Mildred Pierce is a classic flashback film noir mixed with typical soap-operish elements of the woman's picture or as they call "weeper," including a strand of a typical murder mystery often told by flashback. when a story is often told with a flashback, you might have to consider paying close attention to every little detail so that the piece fit with no complications.

lady from Shanghai review
8 November 2009
in my opinion, i think this is one of Orson Welles' best films, this highlight of 1940s film features a talented cast including Rita Hayworth at her most desirable. For what it was in its time, the most interesting part that was created was the mirrors scene at the carnival. Like most of Welles' Hollywood efforts, Shanghai also had some of the greatest set pieces, topped by the delirious shootout in the fun house hall of mirrors. all in all, The Lady from Shanghai (1948) is an imaginative, complicated, unsettling film, with fascinating visuals and tilting compositions, and of course luminous. anyone that is a fan of orson welles, i recommend that you see this film!

Suspicion (1941)
suspicion review
2 November 2009
In a well developed film by Alfred Hitchcock, the movie is about Johnnie(Grant) being this sincere gentleman for the first time in his life and falls in love with Lina(Fontaine). When Beaky, a friend, dies suddenly, Lina begins to believe that Johnnie is a murderer and that she will be the next victim. On a side note, Hitchcock makes a cameo about forty five minutes into the film at the village post office as a man mailing a letter. Anyways, Suspicion is a classic early Hollywood Hitchcock, nicely conceived and steadily performed. But it is so grimly powerful that its Hollywood style happy ending has actually enraged audiences for years. Some have argued that the ending was not up to Mr. Hitchcock's usual style, and the general atmosphere of the picture was far less indisputable than he previously had written. But still he has managed to bring through a tense and exciting take, a psychological thriller which is filled with lively suspense and a picture that entertains you from beginning to almost the end.

Casablanca (1942)
Casablanca review
1 November 2009
Casablanca is said to be the most popular film. It is maybe the most quoted film as well. One of the film's well-known lines, "Here's lookin' at you, kid," was not in the original draft but was actually added in as the result of Bogart and Bergman's poker playing between takes. So with that said, that line became famous and maybe probably quoted to this very day! The movie is one that I would recommend to others. Its scope is simply amazing and it plays an incredible melodrama. Casablanca is all about sacrifices and about the good that human beings can do. Some say it is a sappy love story but it really isn't, even though some of the notions in the film are relatively romantic.

Citizen Kane (1941)
Citizen Kane review
1 November 2009
The movie gives the feeling of being thoroughly designed and structured. In a number of situations such meticulous fore thought suffocates a film, having no space for the cast to breathe. But Orsen Welles (director), with his great skill and actor ability, smoothly side-steps this trap. By creating characters which are inconsistent, but yet interesting, Welles gives the gifted cast roles to elaborate on and run with. The dialog, sometimes first-person and sometimes voice-over, is humorous, convincing, clever and well-structured. Plus the plot of the movie never gets lost at any point. In addition, the script is exactly to the point saying what needs to be said. A further neat point is that sentences tend to overlap as people argue and struggle to get their point across, just like in real life. Orson Welles' Citizen Kane is a movie of recommendation and will never disappoint.

Scarface (1932)
scarface review
19 October 2009
one of the greatest movies to ever develop in the 1930's, in my view, has to be scarface. Paul Muni is excellent from beginning to end and doesn't hold back at any point. Antonio 'Tony' Camonte is the kind of guy that won't take orders from anyone. He's his own boss that will stop at nothing to get the job done no matter the situation and how many people he has to kill. there's no stopping tony as he gets rid of the top boss and starts running the business his way. but there are always side complications as his sister Francesca 'Cesca' Camonte, played by Ann Dvorak, marries tonys main sidekick and good friend Guino Rinaldo (George Raft). When tony finds out about them two, he does the unthinkable and murders guino. from there, things start to go down hill for tony and is eventually left all alone fighting for his life and is then shot. anybody watching this movie will agree that there is nothing but thrilling from start to finish with a great plot!

Grapes of Wrath review
13 October 2009
The grapes of wrath is so realistic and breath taking, it will leave you in a world of emotions. it is the story of the Joad family, who are kicked off their land in Oklahoma because of drought and poverty. Since there wasn't a lot of variation on the black and white cinematography in 1940's, the lack of color increases the emotions of wholeness, poverty and emptiness due to the family's foreclosure and forcing them to move. The Grapes of Wrath is merely not a cutting edge sit at the end of your seat film, but it is a realistic portrayal of the suffering that so many people and families experienced during the Great Depression. The performance by the actors and the work of the production company couldn't be more on its mark. the experience is not only powerful and moving but also educational.

Stagecoach (1939)
stage coach review
13 October 2009
the famous and one of my favorite actors from the old western movies has to be John Wayne. In the movie stage coach directed by John ford, he plays the "The Ringo Kid." He is not alone as he is with several other outcasts traveling towards a number and threats and various kinds of figurative and redemption. the plot couldn't be more self explainitory as a crew of eight takes a stagecoach from Tonto to Lordsburg, trying to avoid Geronimo on the way. of course, the crew had problems of their own with the government and were mostly likely gonna strike at any moment. with the stagecoach shifting from outpost to outpost, the relationships of the passengers emerge, helping each other to find themselves and providing hope and some sort of victory. maybe leading new life and no more complications!

Freaks (1932)
freaks review
13 October 2009
If you were expecting a horror film, "Freaks" is simply far from a horror movie. After watching the movie, it is a sad and maybe in some cases, a disturbing film. The movie portrays how abnormalities were treated in the early 20th century and has the obsession with physical form causes eating disorders today. In a quote from Tod Browning, he asks us to consider who are the bigger freaks: people with deformed bodies or those with deformed souls? The two "normal" people who are out to cheat and steal are have no remorse and will do what it takes, whereas the freaks are quite likable and charming. Even though they are of the other kind, there is no reason to treat them like dirt. The ending is disturbing to be sure, but it's hard to blame the side show freaks for acts that seem necessary!

me and my gal review
7 October 2009
what a thrilling movie from beginning to end. Even though this was meant to be more of a musical movie, i felt it more of a romantic drama adventure between two great actors. some of my favorite parts of course had to be the main characters dancing in the coffee shop and the dancing clown at the beginning of one of the first show. of course the storyline couldn't of been written better throwing a big twist towards the end of the movie. It gets very moving and makes you wonder if they are going to get back together or not. But you could def. tell there was still unfinished love between the two main characters. "Springtime" is probably a favorite line of mine that stood out.

his girl Friday review
29 September 2009
His Girl Friday is a fast comedic screwball comedy. I thought Cary Grant(Walter Burns)played his role perfect! Winning back the girl of his dreams his wife....or ex wife Hildy Johnson (Rosalind Russell). The thing that stood out the most about Cary is that he is very confident and pleased with himself all the time and that is what a girl usually likes in a man. A man that can take charge and take care of problems. Hildey is a powerful and demanding lady at her job that finds another man and almost ends up considering leaving with him. I liked this movie because at times like today, there are more movies like this that are being made and can be also related to reality situations.

Sunrise (1927)
my Sunrise review
28 September 2009
I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes romantic turn of event movies. I wouldn't doubt this film for a second as it tells a magic realism story that you probably wont find in any modern film today. It is a silent movie where the man and the wife have issues in their marriage leaving them in a tough position. the man ends up cheating on his wife with this other woman wanting him to move to the city to start a new life. It is a film that takes them a minute to travel from the forest to the city. The man plays a good role leaving the audience wanting to watch more. Certainly it was and still is a great movie from its time period. If you like silent films, this would be on the top list.

I am a fugitive from a Chain Gang
28 September 2009
This film was well written and had a lot of interesting parts to it that kept me paying close attention as to what was going to happen next. Paul Muni's performance couldn't of been better. For a guy to break out of jail twice, that takes a lot of guts and confidence. But of course there is no escaping the law. Like they say, you can run but you cannot hide. When Paul Muni's character volunteered to go back to jail and serve his sentence, i had the sense that the deal he made with the lawyers wasn't going to hold up and instead was screwed over for life making him pull his hair. Most of all, i like how the movie ended. You don't see movies like these now and days that have unexpected endings leaving the audience thinking "whats he going to do next?"

Scarface (1983)
my scarface review
28 September 2009
being a long time Al Pacino fan, i would have to say that Scarface is his best work ever! A powerful drug lord named Tony Montana doesn't mess around when coming to America. He works hard trying to be the best he can making a name for himself. Not only does he play his cards right, but he doesn't give a crap about nobody and trusts only himself. This movie is well written and is listed as one of my favorite movies of all time! Of course, this movie also plays off as a popular video game called Grand Theft Auto Miami. Very similar to each other as you are the rookie dealer trying to make it big and make a name for himself. So that's pretty amazing.

The General (1926)
9/10
my general review
21 September 2009
so after watching the General, i thought the movie had some great action and some well round humor in it. one of the parts that stood out that looked fun was sitting on that bar that holds the train wheels together and going for a ride ha ha....(of course there are other great parts too!) i think it is safe to say that this is the only war movie that know of that has comedy in it and was a success. but i always enjoy watching any kind of war movie. the movie reveals cutting edge and structural perfection in its time. Buster Keaton shows his comic inventiveness and passion for love. he and the cast pull off a tremendous job in this movie and i would recommend this movie to anyone!
