amazing heartwarming wholesome family show with some annoying characters
23 April 2024
I love this show because I am an animal lover, and I always love watching show, documentary with animals, it always fascinate me.

I love the horses and the beautiful natural scenery of the show, i wish i could have the opportunity to live in a ranch with horses, dogs cows and sheep.

The story is wholesome, i get that as a family, we deal with everyday stress and different dynamics between members. But some characters are really annoying and is not a good model for young viewers, like Georgie, she is disrespectful, a brat, a drama queen who always has a reason for being a trouble maker, she's always "I m sorry" but then next minute she will be back to her old reckless, disrespect of elders way. How can a family of strangers tolerate such behaviour is beyond me, I dont really buy the idea that a normal person his age (Jack) would consider adopting a child of 12 only after a short time of fostering her, and with numerous drama already happened, Georgie never listens, and is rude to Jack, to Amy, to Mallory to Peter, a very dislikable character.

Even when she grew up, she is still a very self centered character. Tim Fleming - the rude, ill manner father, Lou- the queen of drama queens, neurotic and somewhat controlling, at times I feel sorry for Peter. Jack, Ty , Caleb, Scott and Peter are my favorite characters.

a bunch of airheads
30 January 2023
Two episodes in and dont know if i can continuing on.

I am from Hong Kong and work in one of the six licensees in Macao casino business. Stephen Hung owns a hotel (The 13) in Macau but last I heard is its opening has been delayed due to financial problem, and the casino license wasn't secured. Anyways, he is a rather colouful character and he has a pink (with Deborah as the plate) and yellow rolls royce parked outside his office.

Never heard of Tina Leung, the rest of the cast are all boring characters, but i am expecting it so no surprise, the most annoying of the bunch is Dorothy Wang, she is loud, obnoxious, rude and even under tons of make up still looks ugly and honestly, she needs to lose some meat, she is always hungry lol, no amount of designer clothes will make you look good if you are fat and short. Lynn's makeup is so 60s, her dress style horrible and here i thought they are supposed to be fashion forward.

It is a pity with all their money, they could have done something significant or contribute to the betterment of the society, instead they just wasting their life away, the thai princess was so aghast that she needs to work to earn money. Their parents are to blame.

Overall, if there is no better show to watch, this can be entertaining, just dont take the show too seriously.

over dramatic and too much fake storyline to make it happen
26 July 2022
This is a revenge drama, and nothing special or standout in the way the female protagonist's revenge method, she used the age old method, seduce the guy and boom, job supposedly done.

I don't much like the female lead, i found her not a good acting actress, in here and even in her previous drama - It is Okay to not be Okay. She always has this "i-am-a prima-donna-ice-queen" vibes. The male lead is even worse, no emotion or feelings whatsoever in his face throughout the 16 episodes. I found it hard to believe he is head over heel in love with La el and cant live without her. The combination of bad acting of the leads resulting in no chemistry whatsoever, cant see how they are madly in love and would risk all to be together. The wife & supporting cast's acting are better than the two leads here. Overall a subpar drama.

The story goes so slowly and dragged on, and there is one scene when the lead actress' earrings changed, and that was supposed to be in one setting. On another, her tattoo just varnished like magic? Or am i missing something.

The music is another failure, I truly don't understand why some Korea drama insist on using English songs, the music is loud and annoying.

I would rather prefer a Korean drama with all the Korean elements through and through.

Overall, a disappointing drama.

My rare 10 rating
3 September 2021
This is one of the few TV shows I can wholeheartedly give a 10 rating. I love this series, watched twice the first season and going on the second season.

The friendship depicted in this series is so heartwarming, not just for the 5 main casts but also their interaction and kindness towards their interns, fellows & nurses. Even the long lasting friendship between Rosa and the Director of the medical centre is just so warm - a friendship spans for 65 years and still going strong!

The characters' development is another success, we grew to love all the cast (even the supporting roles) bits by bits through their actions, interaction with each other/other characters. Each episode provides us a good life lessons focusing on human behavior and emotions, the happiness when love one is healed, sadness when love one passed and the pain in between waiting for miracles to happen. It really pulled my heartstring. It motivated me to become a better person, be kind and more attentive to my family, friends and be more compassionate/empathy to strangers who are in need.

I love all the actors and actresses; they all give very good performance. The child actor is so cute and the music is simply superb. One lovely thing about this series is the romance is not cheesy, because we all know Korean shows tend to get OTT cheesy when it comes to romance, and we do not have any super "bad" people, we see people of different characters/behavior, all with their own flaws but aren't we all have flaws?

Overall, I highly recommend this series to anyone.

Overacting and Corny
30 April 2021
The female lead and her side kick are disasters. (well. The side kicks for the first few episodes)

Overacting and jokes are corny. This should be a great show but these two slash half of the good rating.

I can help but smile with all the 10, 9 insanely good, perfect ratings.

Anyway, the story keeps dragging on for the sake of airtime. One can summarize the whole story in two minutes, how complicated can the plot be? However, I do like the endings when all the villains got the ending they so deserved.

Slow, dragging and boring show
8 March 2021
Although the theme of the story is good, the execution and the performance are subpar.

It is a pain to watch this family going back and forth with the same old, same old... the show just keeps dragging on and on, the same with the romance, the two characters just guess and joke, gauge and messing around and around it is truly a waste of time.

Not even one actors display any outstanding performance, maybe because the characters are too dull to execute/perform, they are all just going the motion and simply get the job done. Especially worst is the father with his constant pouting mouth (not cute if you are not handsome and young). The mother who has this constipation look at almost every scene.

Most of the characters are unlikable and hence, can't produce any empathy from viewers. What had happened to the arrogant eldest daughter should be a tearjerker and yet it is hard to find any sympathy for her. The only likable character in this show is the baby brother and the actor who plays the role actually has decent acting skill.

Overall, a subpar show and if you haven't started it, just don't.

Interesting plot, average execution with worst female leads and an unsatisfactory ending
5 February 2021
The show has an interesting, albeit not so new idea as its basic structure. However, the execution of the story is not so great, the first half of the series is a drag and boring. The momentum picked up once it reached mid-season and is intense. It has a rather sad and unfair ending.

This series starred Namgoong Min (of Doctor Prisoner, stove league fame), the character Do Jung Woo is interesting, complex character with depth, as per his usual standard, he executed the role impeccably, with his powerful acting, I can almost feel his pain and regret from the screen. He truly is a versatile actor and I really enjoy watching him. And it is also for this reason that I finished the whole series. Without him, I would have just put it aside after a few episodes. Personally I think Namgoong Min's acting is better than the likes of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.

The second male lead's (Sun-Woo Yoon) acting is impressive and actually, an above average good actor. Much better than the two female leads.

The casting for both female leads is a failure and disaster. The female detective Gong Hye Won (played by Seol-Hyun Kim) and the so called FBI expert Jaime Layton or Leighton (played by Chung-Ah Lee).

Gong Hye Won was temperamental & simple minded. There is not an ounce of detective skill in her. I truly don't see the logic of creating her character, all she did is ask idiotic questions and create trouble for the male lead. The character is useless and annoying in itself, make more insufferable to watch by the bad acting of Seol-Hyun Kim. The so called highly skill FBI trained expert is a joke, Jamie Layton is supposedly adopted and grew up in US, and yet her English is filled with heavy Korean accent, the character didn't exert any above average deduce or analytical skill, it is a shame because this character could develop into a more complex one. The portrayal by Chung-Ah Lee is a major disappointment, which is the main reason I am giving this show a lower rating, throughout the whole season, her facial expressions consist of the permanent smirk on her face, the sarcastic glance and the arrogant tone which really is very displeasing to watch. Her indifferent and uncaring way of her action or acting toward fellow victims and to all those bad guys, contradict her verbal commitment. Her character is supposed to want to see it through even at the expense of her life. And yet, I couldn't see any passion in her acting to justify that commitment, just to show how unconvincing her acting skill is.

The ending however, leave me with sadness. Do Jung Woo and Moon Jae Woong don't deserve to have an ending like this. Of the three villains, only two have their ending justify the evilness of their deed, which for me is very unsatisfactory.

It is such a pity, this show has the potential to become a really interesting hit show, something in Secret Forest (Stranger) level. But became a disappointment due to miscasting and average execution. The dialogue and script at times could be so boring and useless.

A series about friendship, family and love
18 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This show is about LOVE, love between friends, love between family members, and the sacrifice parents made out of love for their children. It is heartwarming, nostalgic and at time, hilarious. Overall a good show but I truly do not get the perfect 10 score.

Every character has his/her own personality and is enjoyable to watch how they interact through their daily lives. However, one key failure of the show is the main character. I wish the writer could have given the female lead a more in-depth character, to me, Sung Duk-Sun is a kind, happy go lucky, noisy and at times obnoxious, very simple minded girl. She is rather lazy, no motivation and no ambition other than to hit a boy and get married. She is the most unlikable character in the whole show and yet she is the lead! Of her 4 male BFFs, she is interested in 3 of them! She has no preference, whoever wants her is OK with her! As long as one of them scoop her up. She has no focus in life, do not know what she wants to be or make any effort to be useful.

My favorite characters are the Moms and Dads, Bora and Sun woo. And I am glad the last episode feature their wedding instead of Duk-Sun & Choi Taek's. The ending is satisfactory as everybody (again, except Duk-san) has made a mark for themselves. Even slow Jung Bong and funny Dong-Ryong have finally found their path.

Overall, a good show but to me, a poor lead character is a major flaw.

wrong information
16 January 2021
I haven't watched it yet, just watch the trailer and bang!! seriously, guys, do a bit of research before spilling..

First, that guy maybe the 24th generation of the dynasty , I am assuming based on his surname Chiu, but not all Chiu's descendants are of royal blood. Second, the Song dynasty was destroyed/took over by Genghis Khan, the leader of the Yuen (Yuan) Dynasty in 1279 (or better known by western as Mongol Dynasty). There will be no such thing as "Dr. Chiu's father could be an emperor, Dr. Chiu is next in line and Baby G as a prince". This is not rocket science, do some research and if they are truly Song's descendants, they should be ashamed they didn't even know their ancestors' humiliation and history.

Next to the Yuen's dynasty is the Ming Dynasty, and the next is the Great Qing dynasty....so many dynasties come and go, so even if we still have dynasty and emperor now, her husband couldn't be the emperor as they are the descendants of a defeated/lost dynasty.

I know this is a reality show of flashing wealth, but at the very least get the basic info right.

A very intense drama that deals with a very serious subject - child abuse
24 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This drama is dark, makes you unhappy but seriously, everyone should watch it, not because it is a superb drama (it is overall good but not fantastic kind of drama), but for the reason we have to focus on the subject.

The plot is predictable and without mystery, the ending is disappointing and a few useless characters with bad acting.

The lead character/actress is dull and boring. I found out that all Korean actresses who are task to portray a serious character, they always present a grim face sans any emotion. This one is no exception.

The male lead acting is ok, nothing spectacular. His character is OK specially when he is with his 2 useless minions, that he seems competent. I don't know why they have to cast a female detective who does nothing but goes/runs around without contributing anything significant.

However, the flow of the plot is good and will keep you wanting to go on watching. The ending however is very disappointing and illogical. I don't believe anyone can just forgive a person who abused a 5-year old child (specially it was her sister) to death, buried her right inside the living room of the house you grew up in. And live with her happily ever after, even letting her take care of your only child, it just doesn't make any sense to me.

Overall, a no nonsense serious drama.

Mediocre show, weak plot and disappointing actors
13 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This series start with a bang -Park Bo Gum as lead and seems promising, but as the show goes on, it deteriorated gradually and eventually fade into oblivion nothing.

First off, the choice of lead actress, Park So Dam as Ahn Jeong-Ha, the character was badly written and the role badly played. Ahn Jeong Ha overall is an unattractive character/person, often time, she is self-righteous and acts as if she is more superior to everybody. When she is not exerting her righteousness she is as cold as a robot, void of any facial emotion and feelings. The plot writes that she easily captured the attention and affection of two handsome established models the instant they met, which is very unconvincing, here is a simple normal girl with a very average face & personality. If they have cast a beautiful actress it would be a bit more believable as humans are visual, anything beautiful will capture our attention specially so for guys. Yeah, I maybe shallow but unfortunately such is human nature.

The chemistry between the two leads is zero, there is no affection nor any romantic gesture. The plot overall is weak and no direction, the reason for the breakup is hilarious, it was as if they still live in the 70s where fans don't allow their idol to have any personal life. Hey, I am sure people nowadays has evolved and can fully understand.

The actress who played Bo Gum's Mom is the best actress in the show.

And the title "Record of Youth". Honestly I don't see how their youth are spent any different from yours and mine...

Overall, a past time show which dont need your full attention

Seriously? such violence in a hospital setting
3 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I initially watched The Good doctor US version with Freddie Highmore as the lead. Really impressive and interesting and realized it was inspired by the Korean version so here I am.

Watched only until epi 2 and decided to give it up. Seriously, a senior doctor hit another doctor inside a hospital and no disciplinary action? Everybody acted as if this is so normal and OK??!! well, this is not OK..maybe it is the Korean culture but it disgusted me totally. and why did he do it? because he is jealous of someone who has better skills than himself.

A doctor is supposed to belong to the elite tier of the society, highly educated. But here is a bunch who not only look down on an autistic kid, but silently condone the beating as if he deserve it. Where is the compassion that is supposed to make an ordinary person a great doctor?

possibly one of the worst 2020 Kdrama
8 September 2020
Drew by the heavy marketing, I have high expectation for this series. Watched until episode 13 and decided it is enough and gave up. Simple and predictable plot, but that is not the problem, simple plot can be sophisticated with good execution and presentation. Which is what this TV show lack. The director wants to produce an aura of suspense but the end product gives the feeling of incompleteness and leads to nowhere.

Characters have no depth and actually irritating and annoying. Dialogue cheesy and boring, at times, hilarious and illogical. It could be more bearable if actors are good. The lead actress - Yun-ah Song is a disaster, void of expression and 90% of time is stony faced. It is always a pain to watch bad lead actors and actresses because they dominated most of the screen time. The villain - Tae-Hwan Lee, overacting and just flat out bad acting. His translation of a bad person is to forcefully open his eyes as if in shock.

Personally I feel it is a waste of time and not recommended.

Doctor Prisoner (2019– )

Very intense and clever drama
5 August 2020
Very satisfying ending and love the back and forth show off of the intellectual wit among players. Both the hero and the villain's characters are interesting, and so do a lot of the supporting characters. They all have a story and the plot somehow can seamlessly insert these characters into the bigger scheme (the whole plot).

This is the second time I watched Nam Kung Min, the first one was a romantic drama and was a total disappointment. After watching Doctor Prisoner, I can conclude that Mr. Nam is best suited for more complex role rather than some simple cheesy romance lead. This guy seriously has a strong presence, good acting and poise as a doctor or any other strong roles. Compare to him, the female lead, Kwon Nara (of Itaewon Class) seriously need to polish her acting skills, she hasn't improved a bit since Itaewon, the same no emotion expression and stony face.

Actually the story is simple but they managed to make this series interesting and have audience looking forward to the next episode. I totally enjoy this series and hope can see more of this kind of clever plot TV show.

Good story and entertaining, beautiful actors and actress
6 July 2020
Another superb show from Lee Jung Sok. Lee is a promising excellent actor and has a knack for choosing good projects. Over the years, except for Doctor Stranger, all his TV series are of good quality and are all success. However, in my opinion, LJS's acting is not being utilize fully in this series, I feel that his character here is simple and is not challenging enough. But still good acting nevertheless. I would love seeing him in more complex characters such as Su Ha in I can hear your voice and as Kang Chul in W.

It is entertaining, with a bit of fantasy ,romance, friendships and family. It is a story of how three people - Suzy, LJS and Mr. Choi's fate are intertwined through a tragedy, it is about the good and the evil and the true meaning of forgiveness and healing.

This show is comfortable to watch; it is not too intense nor it is too slow. All the lead actors are beautiful/handsome and have good acting to boost. Suzy has this almost perfect "golden ratio" kind of beauty, especially with her long hair. She and Jung Sok definitely make a good looking couple and they have fairly good chemistry, although not as good as Jung Sok with his female lead in W. The second lead - Jung Hae In is another promising actor to watch, he is good looking in a sunny good boy fashion with good acting skills. Even the supporting cast is superb, I like the character of Mr. Choi, and the actor is a very versatile supporting actor.

Beautiful cinematography. Some of the scenes are beautifully shot. i.e. the beach ocean view. The OST is good specially Davichi. What is not to love about this show? I'd say NO. It makes you happy and warm seeing the romance between the leads, and kinda sad seeing Woo Tak embracing Suzy with Davichi's background music... yeah. A variety of everything, all in all, a good show!

An Intense drama
2 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is a very intense drama. A story about justice & morality. The structure of the story is unbelievable and far-fetched. First, I don't think a person who has never involved with daily management/operation of a business can just lead a conglomerate in an instant. Second, the scene when the kidnapper abducted the girl clearly didn't wear gloves and his fingerprints should be in the door handle but it was never mentioned. The most frustrating issue about this series is the openly corruption of the prosecutor's office. It is very frustrating and disheartening to watch how good people are being oppressed and how the rich can manipulate the system. And perhaps this is precisely why people are glued to this show.

The lead actor obviously is a good actor, although sometimes can be a bit overacting. I love the child actress, very natural and cute. I usually stay away from story with amnesia theme, it is just too old and too convenient. The show however picks up the momentum once the lead regained his memory, his confidence and his wits.

I wish they could have explored more the character of the brother-in-law and the lady lawyer. The ending, is somewhat satisfactory and most of the culprits are punished. It could have been more fulfilling if the warden could be punished and the wife should use revenge as the reason for reporting Cha min ho instead of love. I could never understand how someone could love a serial heartless killer.

Overall, it is a good show and worth the time.

A heartwarming love story. A good read for any book lovers
16 June 2020
I love movies and I love books. This series provide both. I am so tired of Hollywood's OTT French kissing scene, too many unnecessary nude/sex scenes where the leads just jump into bed on their first/second date. So lately I prefer Kdrama, although sometimes some shows can be a bit cheesy but most of the time, they are wholesome and the whole family can watch together. This is one of those.

This is another Lee Jung Sok show. I am a big fan, I watched all his shows and this one didn't disappoint. The story is deep, the love is genuine and the friendship between the characters is a pleasure to watch. Worth mentioning is the intro, it is a storybook setting and unique, very beautifully carve and dreamy like.

Both leads are good actors and the chemistry is natural and comfortable. Lee Na Young is a very good actress. Watching their love slowly progress from a 20-year friendship to lovers in a step by step pace is a delight, it has this slow water runs deep kind of emotion and release a sweet and warm feeling. The subtle use of "The moon is beautiful" is another feat... it makes me smile. It really makes me think this is what true love should be, the contentment feeling of being surrounded by a warm blanket.

This series didn't just focus on finding love but also on how important it is to keep the love going, we see the couple divorced due to "drifting apart for a long time". It is kind of sad but such is life.... This is another plus about this show, it is realistic, it shows the hardship of everyday life, from finding a job to finding true love.

The supporting cast is superb and even the atmosphere in the publishing office is addictive, who wouldn't want to work in that office? The camaraderie/friendship among the office workers is so positive. The trench coat scene is a BANG, lol...

Overall, this TV series is a win. I love it!!

Mix feelings
12 June 2020
It is only because of Lee Jung Sok that I managed to finish this show. The first eight episodes is a pain, it starts to pick up momentum in Epi 9.

This is supposedly to be a TV series with a complex plot, but lose its excitement and steam while the show stretch to build up the suspense.

The four lead characters are a mixed bag. The main lead Park Hoon is average & predictable, it is only the good acting of Lee that makes it bearable to watch Park whining, whispering and moaning about Jae Hui over and over again for the first 8 episodes. Lee Jung Sok is a promising young actor who not only have a pretty face but with real acting to boost. The Park Hoon character seriously is a waste of Lee's talent. This is the irony; the second male lead's character is far more interesting. Dr Han is a determine, intense, and talented doctor. Hae Jin Park really gives this character life and make it so believable. Good actor and handsome too. The female lead - Dr Han Seung hee or Song Jae-hui. It was written to be the main focus of this show, supposedly more prominent and important than Park Hoon. Actually the character was well written but it was the ineffective BAD acting of the actress that ruined the character and to a large degree, the show. The actress has zero acting skills, expressionless and emotionless. Her trademark expression/acting is the constipated frowned look which runs for the whole series. It is as if she is always holding back her emotion, no joy, no pain ... nada... The two leads have zero chemistry and watching them hug or whispering "I love you" to each other is like watching cartoons - ridiculous and at times hilarious. Her un-stylist dress sense is another pain to watch. The worst character is the second female lead - Oh Soo Hyun, average, pathetic and selfish to the point of annoying. I do not like this character one bit. The actress however delivers the character as it was written. Oh Soo Hyun is naïve and witless; she'll do what her father wants without question. i.e. she didn't seem to mind her father's evil act of sending Park Cheol and Park Hoon to North Korea and ruin a family. All she cared/crying about is her love wasn't reciprocated. The same with Dr Han's situation, she gets all upset by Han's revenge but not how her father had wronged Han's family in the first place.

The ending, however is satisfactory, Park Hoon ending with Song is reasonable. They have known each other since childhood, their relationship was built over a long time and have a strong foundation (I wish the actress did a more credible job), they experienced the highs and lows of their life together. No way he will end up with another woman he has just met, specially the daughter of THE man who caused his father's death, his mother's insanity and ruined his life. That just doesn't make sense.

The setting of this show is unethical & unscrupulous, putting people's life for competition is unacceptable and immoral. Watching the whole surgical team wholeheartedly focus only on winning is just so wrong. The supporting cast is strong, but there are just too many unlikable characters. The chairman, the chairman's son, Dr Moon (the clown), Dr Yang (the immoral one), the sex hungry young interns who make out at every hour of every day??!! The negatives of this show is overwhelming.

Overall, if you love Lee Jung Sok or Hae Jin Park, go for it. Otherwise, skip it.

An inspiring story of an eight-year-old boy overcoming heartache and hardship
8 June 2020
An Inspiring and heartwarming story, good presentation and superb performance, great OST. Definitely worth the time.

Pak Soo Ha (Lee Jong Suk) the courageous little boy who witnessed his father's murder and abandoned by his family, overcome hardships and became a fine young man. The character is very well written and very well presented, Soo ha is kind, smart and considerate, a man of great patience, matured for his age and a man of his word. Lee Jong Suk's outstanding acting makes Pak Soo Ha comes alive, you can feel his heartache and pain over the course of the 18 episodes. Lee is a very promising young actor, always delivered and always impressive. It is definitely a joy to watch his show.

Jang Hye-Sung (Lee BoYoung) the flawed, sometimes annoying with her fake bravado and inconsiderate mouth. She can endear the audience with her strong sense of justice and irritate us with her sometimes lack of empathy, also her "mouth faster than her brain" hurtful statements to Soo Ha makes you root more for Soo Ha. Lee BoYoung is a good actress when given the right material. In this series, her performance is superb, watched her in Whisper, didn't think she is as good as she was in I can hear. What makes Jang endear/irritate us is she represents the majority of population. We are all flawed and yet we are all unique in our own little world.

Seo Do-Yeon and Cha Gwan- Woo : the second lead pair, superb performance both, specially Yoon. I like both Soo ha and Gwan-woo's character, they represent the kind and the good in the world. Both have strong characters and stand firm by their decision/believe and wont sway even under immense pressure or stress.

Min Joon Gook (Woong-in Jeong): the villain. The character is cunning and evil, very good performance from Woong, adds a lot of climax to the story, his interaction scene with Joon Suk is captivating and exciting.

I thoroughly enjoy the show and urge people to make time for it. Look for the deeper meaning of this series than just the romance of the leads. The romance is sweet and there are average chemistry between the leads. The soundtrack is great. Overall, highly recommended.

Definitely one of the Best TV Kdrama since Prison Break Season 1
2 June 2020
This series is exciting, interesting, fast paced and has a unique plot. The setting of the story is about two worlds - The real one and the webtoon one. While the parallel world concept isn't anything original (a lot of movies and TV use it. i.e. Dark) but this one is well-presented and doesn't confuse viewers.

My favorite actor - Lee Jong Suk didn't disappoint, aside from his good look and cute smile, he delivers another great performance and another good show. It is like W is his own show, he basically dominated it. That is how impressive he was in W. The female lead Han Hyo-joo is so beautiful. Actually, my personal opinion is of all Lee's leading ladies, I think he has the best chemistry with Han Hyo-joo, they look so comfortable and good together, Han can certainly match him in the looks department. Sometimes I find Jung Suk too handsome for some of his female leads. (but that was just me!) These two just make you think they are written on the star and are destined to be together, that they are destined to be lovers.

The story is very interesting, although the scenes keep jumping from real world to webtoon world and vice versa, it is not confusing at all and both leads' acting are impressive. The actor who plays the cartoonist is outstanding too. It is a fast paced series, and it makes me want to keep watching the next episode to know what will happen and dread the "coming to end" feeling towards the last few episodes. I also love how the cartoonist and Kang Chul reversed their place at the end.

The soundtrack adds to the poignant feel of some scenes and is definite a plus. I thoroughly love this series and looking forward/hoping to another show with these two leads.

Pinocchio (2014–2015)
7/10
Very good theme and fresh idea, too much emphasis on romance
20 May 2020
First what attracts me to this drama is Lee Jung Sok, how can you not be with that pretty face? and of course, his good acting skills.

The casting is OK, however the chemistry between the leads are of average, but both have good acting skills, surprisingly even the supporting cast performs really well. Both Kim Young-Kwang (as Seo Beom-jo) & Yoon Kyun-Sang (as Ki Jae-myung) are both impressive, specially Yoon. BTW, they do look a bit alike, even the actors who played the younger version of the brothers are outstanding. There are a lot of characters but audience won't get confused as it was presented really well. Kudos to that!

I think the title Pinocchio is novel. Don't think I ever watched a show about how one has to stay honest all the time. Kind of a fresh idea. The theme of this series is serious, actually a very serious topic we need to ponder and rethink how it affects us. The ethical issue of reporting and the ethics of being a reporter, which unfortunately is not being explore enough.

It has 20 episodes which I think can be shortened to maybe 16 or 18. Some episodes are rather boring with all the spread and emphasis on the romance scene of the leads. The story has a couple of holes which I think is not consistent or sensible.

1. Why did In-ha insist on calling Ki Ha-myung "Choi Dal-po"? Choi represents her uncle, a family member. Since she is in love with Ha-myung, isn't she be more welcoming to the idea of having a romantic relationship with a person outside of her family? Moreover, she loves Ki Ha-myung and is trying her best to help him have his revenge, addressing him of his true identity and name should be the very first step of his healing and regaining what he had lost for 13 years

2. Song Cha-ok has so many spare phones but In -ha just happened to pick the right one? What is the probability of that luck?

This series is entertaining, with all the main ingredients available - love, family, friendships, comedy, loyalty & a glimpse of Korean business culture. The only downside I feel is it puts too much emphasis on the romantic aspect of the leads. On the personal level, Ki Ha-myung decided not to use the materials (the retrieved texts) because of his love for In-ha, seriously, your Mom committed suicide & your brother is in jail (for life) because of the setup, and here you will give everything up because of your love for a girl. It is not like it will cost her life. It exaggerated the whistle blower consequences.

On a professional level, Ki Ha-myung decided to forego his motto of what a true reporter should be - divulge and report only the truth to the world. I doubt someone so emotional can be an impartial reporter and carry out his job. In real life scenario, you don't get a second chance or opportunity to let go of the explosive material and wait for another chance which in all possibility may never come as the bad guys will be prepared. But this is Kdrama, so of course, there is drama...

Itaewon Class (2020)
8/10
Intense, good acting and engaging
13 May 2020
I love Park Seo Joon, he is not only good looking but he did CAN act. Not just a pretty face. The scene where he went to confront Jang Geun Won for killing his father is one of the best scene I have watched. He is excellent and he gave it his all. His acting has been steadily improving over the years. The female leads (Kim Da-mi & Nara) are average specially Nara. Another actor worth the praise is Jae-myung Yoo, I always anticipate his scene with Park Seo Joon.

The story is intense and fast paced which I love. The first half is superb but it got less interesting as it gradually moves towards the end. I am most unimpressed by the ending of the story. Park Sae Ro Yi didn't get the sweet revenge by his own effort, rather it was Oh Soo Ah who got the job done, Sae Ro Yi simply take the advantage of the situation. It could have been more satisfying to have him get the revenge, I mean, he has been consumed/fuel by his hatred, and suddenly the story just ends like... what? Silent fading without any drama...I was expecting something with a bang!!

The romantic aspect of the story I didn't care much who Park Sae Ro Yi chose. I mean people change, feelings change and etc... but of course it would be less controversial if he ends up with Soo Ah, it would have been more consistent with his character. Anyone can see that Jo Yi Seo is not the best match for Park, and I found myself thinking, if in real life, they could certainly split after a few years.

The supporting cast and the soundtrack are both superb, BTW, I love the fashion the girls wear specially Kim Da-mi.

Summary : an interesting KDrama worth the time.

12 Years Promise (2014– )
4/10
horrible casting
12 May 2020
First the story can be shortened and more condensed. There are so many unnecessary scene, specially from the supporting characters. 26 episodes are way too much for such a simple story.

I like the young teenagers' version of the story, the lead actors are handsome and prettier compared to the cast of their older versions. Why not just use the same cast as they grew older, makeup and clothing can do the job. It is like watching two separate films, all the characters have changed, from appearance to their personality, and their height!! Cmon, the young version of Yu Jun-su is tall (at least 6") but the older version is short and not as handsome as the young actor. He was supposedly a popular boy in school. But the adult version is very reserve. The film didn't let us know why Jang Guk decided to changed her name? another loophole is the family just decided to let go of the accident that lead to the miscarriage of a pregnancy? Seriously?? and the mean girl Ju Da-hae just go on with her life as if nothing happened? I mean, she is even friends with Jun-su. what a psychopath!

The story line about Ju Da-hae's family is tiring and boring to watch.

A very subpar K drama

Very engaging and entertaining show
21 April 2020
This is my first try of K-drama and I am pretty surprised. I normally don t watch vampire or zombie TV/movie after too many seasons of The Walking Death. But a zombie show set in Joseon period is kind of new and intriguing.

The story is strong and intense, never a dull moment. Execution is good and the fighting scenes are remarkably made. Characters are entertaining and deep specially the Crown Prince. The only character I feel can explore more is the female doctor.

The lead actor (who plays Lee Chang) is very good and I really like him after this show. Great acting from a lot of supporting cast and overall, a very good entertaining show that is worth the time.

The only disappointment I have is the ending (season 2) where the Crown Prince just gave up the throne to a commoner baby, which he knew is the son of his guard, this contradicts the whole story line, the audience are led to believe that blood line is very important in the succession of the throne and that the royal blood should be preserved. I shall look forward to the third season and hopefully Crown Prince will let us know why he did what he did.

Interesting... need improvement if it wants to be a long running show
3 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It is an interesting show. But not without its flaw and holes.

As a starter, the two hosts both need some improvement in hosting skills. Tan's authoritative demeanor is borderline to irritating. He speaks and acts as if he is a fashion mega guru which he is not. One example: in the military episode when the runway finished and the judges would go and talk to the designers, he told Daniel right there and then that he loves the blue instead of the black, that he hasnt decided to change it. hey, that was before Tan consults with other judges, so basically he rules the decision? what if other judges find the black more appealing? Why do you need guest judges then? This is a show about fashion, I would expect some decent dress sense from the hosts. His dress sense is horrible, honestly, it is a sore to watch him strut his active wear in the Activewear episode, he dressed like a 14 years old. Same goes with Alexa. She seriously need to gain some weight, she looks like a malnourished overgrown woman, the only clothes she looks fashionable is when she is in a suit because the audience need not force to watch her stick thin legs and arms. I dont think these two is the right candidate for good judges of "Fashion". Why not just let them play the host and deliver their corny jokes and leave the judgement/decision to those established big fashion designers.

The competition doesn't start out as fair, the pairing system is flawed, some are friends for decades (advantage) while some just met (how can you expect them to work together and create sparks?) if the number of episode is an issue, why not just start with fewer contestants and compete in solo? Or start with 18 contestants compete in solo and eliminate two per show. Just cut out the BS talking to the contestants about what they are gonna do, useless and boring, have to jump to the runway part every time.

Positives: Almost all the contestants are very talented and creative. It is a joy to watch them create something beautiful and arty clothes. And the camaraderie they have for each other is amazing. The runway design is beautiful and all the attractive models. Can get rid of the three two one part though, over drama!

I'd say this is an interesting show but can do better, and I also think the last 6 designers are all talented and hope they will finally find their place in the fashion world.
