I Just Killed My Dad: I'm Not A Killer (2022)
Interesting with a twist - but horrible sound mixing
Great beginning to the documentary, unfortunately the trend of sound mixers believing everyone is DEAF or just really enjoy high pitched, migraine causing sounds is very much present.
Watched parts without sound - but still good, so it's probably even better if your hearing is slightly damaged.
The Batman (2022)
Too many storylines, but worth watching at home
Enough story to make at least two films, if not three. They fell into the normal DC-trap: making it way too long in case they wouldn't be able to make another.
Smaller critique is that since it was already too long the entire storyline with Alfred was cut too short and almost irrelevant. And why the f did they go back on making it plausible that he walked around in a dirty t-shirt and smudged makeup, but then recanted and had him push a table bare-chested? Made no sense at all. It was cold, we don't need proof Pattison lifted some weights beforehand.
But it's not bad. Nice to watch at home. Good soundtrack and mood. Refreshing to have it so dark.
Would all in all watch again. In two sittings.
Breaking Surface (2020)
Enjoy suspense based on degradingly stupid women? Then this is the movie for you
For many years we have been watching incredibly stupid male leads make decisions no sane person would ever make. Now the era of stupid female leads is here. The scenery and backstory adds depth and points to what could have been a very interesting movie, but sadly after the first dive (SPOILER AHEAD), the story shifts to being about two sisters where one is calm as a cucumber, and the other is a panicky moron with two brain cells. That's it. That's the whole plot. So if you enjoy tearing your own hair out while hoping no chauvinist ever sees this - 'cause it will pour fuel on the fire - this is definitely the movie for you. Knut pulls my rating up by one star.
Sausage Party (2016)
It was all fun and games until...
Great cartoon for adults. I loved it right until the rape jokes. Like, come on, is it possible for people to make a funny movie without re-traumatising victims of sexual assault? Everything else worked, so I have really no idea why they just had to go that low. I wouldn't have bothered if it wasn't that explicit, 'cause it wasn't just scratching the surface, it was quite horrible. They should've thought it more through, instead of trying to make something (hopefully) only college- jocks find funny.
