Twins of Evil (1971)
Fun, sexy and fast
Having never watched any hammer horror before as a massive lover of all things horror I was quite ashamed of myself. I soon made this up to myself by watching the very cool and very fun 'Twins of Evil'.
Peter Cushing is brilliant as Gustav Weil, a witchfinder who lives his whole life fearing God and wanting to clean up anything he feels is a negative influence on the god fearing ways of the community.
Gustav comes across as some sex deprived church goer, someone whose major hobby is killing any pretty girl he spots. He even gives menacing looks to his own nieces when he first lays eyes on them. I get the impression Mrs Weil has had quite a few headaches over the years.
The other highlights of the movie would be the gorgeous Collinson twins who play the Gellhorn twins who catch the eye of every male in the god fearing community as well as the viewers. To find out afterwards they were dubbed I was quite surprised. I still thought they put in very creditable performances with the natural twin chemistry between them a true blessing on this film.
I would overall give this film an 8/10. Fun, sexy and free flowing. Enjoyable film that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys Horror with a fun side. Don't expect any scares but expect the film to fly by quickly.
Smallville: Slumber (2003)
Great episode with a sleepy feel.
I am still yet to find a bad episode of Smallville. I do not know how the writers manage to keep me utterly engrossed for the duration but with the quality of actors in the main roster as well as guest appearances it must sure help the situation.
Katherine Isabelle was outstanding as sleeping girl Sara. She looked so believable with a real unique beauty displayed in her innocence. I will certainly be checking out her back catalogue of roles. Christopher Shyer who plays Sara's uncle also puts in a fantastic yet creepy performance.
As with every episode I felt closer to the characters and the storyline just oozed with good feeling. The sleepy feel of the episode (sort of plodding on rather than moving superhero speed) made for a nice change and got the best out of the actors in difficult roles.
