Avatar: The Last Airbender: Aang (2024)
Season 1, Episode 1
1/10
Horrible script, horrible acting
3 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I was shocked with the opening scene as it took us into action immediately, so it was too much too fast. And then when I heard the firebender emperor speak, I realized oh no, this show is crap. The lines he spoke were as if a child wrote them. And the plot is very naive and unbelievable. So what if they had the firebender's plans, any reasonable person will know that they know that the earthbenders now have their plans, so the plans are going to change.

And then we go to Aang, whose acting is so bad that I couldn't make myself waste anymore of my time on this Netflix garbage. Why not start the show exactly as the animated show is besides me. Why show Aang in his past, instead of where he begins in the anime, it is just beyond comprehension. We don't need to see what exactly happened to the airbenders. Why? Because Netflix writers can't create anything new and good, all they can do is copy source material and make it bad. Like they did with the Witcher and now this.

They had a hit with One Piece because the creator had the last say and full creative control. But here the creators of Avatar left and it shows very much.

I will not be watching this horror of a show. I don't care about the CGI if it is good or not, the dialogue and acting need to be good for me to be invested into a story, and the subpar level of the writing and acting constantly brings me out of the show.

The show for kids called The New Adventures of Monkey is better than this, and I enjoyed watching it. But I can't get myself to waste any more time on this.

Goodbye Netflix, I hope this flops so you learn a lesson.

His Dark Materials: The Botanic Garden (2022)
Season 3, Episode 8
1/10
Very inconsistent writing, this episode along with the entire season 3 ruined this once amazng show.
26 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The first two seasons were well written and I generally liked them and enjoyed the show. Season 2 wasn't perfect, it had its flaws, like the fact that it was never explained how Azriel managed to go through so many worlds without his technology and how he managed to escape the spectres without being killed and also how he had such a huge headstart compared to Lyra and Will. By the time we see Azriel in season 2, he has an army and has travelled to many worlds, which is a bit of a stretch compared to how the struggled to go to the first world. And him killing Roger is only brushed off by his one sentence of saying he killed an innocent boy for no reason.

The end of season 2 is kind of dumb when I now think about it. Serafina Pekalla goes off to save Lee, but for some weird reason doesn't make it in time. Will's father finds Will and somehow forgets that he is being chased by soldiers, which in turn results in him getting killed. They could have kept moving, knowing they are in danger and had a conversation once they knew they were safe. That is what any sane person would do.

Season 3 is just bad writing. Or bad source material. Not sure which, but there are many plot holes and inconsistencies. I would forgive or simply can't remember most of those until episode 7, when Azriel and Ms. Coultier grab ahold of Metatron and plunge to their deaths. I guess the writers forgot that this guy is an angel and can fly to avoid dying. Who is the angel that Will and Lyra released from that box? We will never know. Ms. Coultier can just destroy spectres with the power of her thoughts, I guess she is a witch now or something.

Episode 8 is rubbish. Other reviewers already described it. The thing to repair everything was just about Will and Lyra falling in love? They had been falling in love since they met. So they didn't need a "serpent" to tell them to take risks for love, they had already been doing that. And yeah, as soon as this war for free will is won, Will and Lyra are told that they actually can't have free will and have to do as they are told and spend the rest of their lives apart, because apparently people can't live in other worlds, except Will's father apparently and the black guy who kept going back and forth between Will and Lyra's world, I forgot his name, the one that Ms. Coulter poisoned.

And breaking the knife will close all of the opened doors between worlds. Sooo I guess they are already closed as the knife was already broken? Or no, the plot needs this to be the case now, so now it will close all the doors... And angels can only close the doors once the knife is broken? And Will and Lyra just listen to that and agree to it? Nonesense. Why was it ok for them to travel between so many worlds in order to save the multiverse, but now they are no longer allowed? How is their love going to save the multiverse if they aren't allowed to love each other while being together?

Honestly I didn't even manage to watch this last episode until the end because of how stupid and dissapointing it made me feel about this entire show now.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part IV (2022)
Season 1, Episode 4
1/10
Who is writing this show? Children?
14 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This show is very much devoid of logic, but this is very obvious in episode 4. Tala walks into Vader's Sith base saying that she has secret information for the Grand Inquisitor, who is dead, and the guard just lets her pass. Then she is talking to Kenobi on the comm, while multiple Imperial officers are literally sitting next to her and can hear what she is saying, but still nobody reacts. Then, when one officer actually does question her, she kills him right behind everybody else in that room, leaves his body on the floor behind them, for anyone who walks in to see...

Then Reva interrogating little Leia about the LOCATION of the Path secret base, when the kid is in this situation because she kidnapped her to draw out Obi-Wan... It is so stupid. Then she puts a tracking device in Leia's robot... I mean, where could the kidnapped princess of Alderaan be going? Obviously back to Alderaan! And also the fact that Kenobi is the one going in to rescue her is ridiculous from the get go, so none of this show makes any sense.

Why was this show made? How does it advance the character development of any character in this show? What more does it give to Obi-Wan and Anakin's relationship? Absolutely nothing. We have seen 4 episodes so far and I still feel like we are at the start of the show, it makes no sense and it is completely pointless. It is just a money grab show and nobody should watch it.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 8: Redemption (2019)
Season 1, Episode 8

Great season finale
27 December 2019
Now this is Star Wars!!! It shows when fans of the franchize actually make content for it, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau nail this season finale with lots of twists and turns, and reveals, suspense as well as emotional moments. A perfect ending to a great season. Season 2 has been set up, and it's an open slate of what could happen, the adventure opportunities are endless, just as Star Wars should be.

Honestly, I feel more emotionally involved with IG-11 than any of the new characters in the Disney trilogy. So yeah, nice work JJ, Rian and Kathleen. You should learn from Jon and Dave.

The Mandalorian - Now THIS is Star Wars
16 November 2019
This show is such a refreshing breeze of great quality Star Wars. Hopefully with Episode 9, this horrible era of Star Wars will end, and we will finally get what we all wanted the whole time - great stories set in the Star Wars universe. Stories like this, that make sense. Stories that hook us and make us want more, make us relate to the characters on the screen, just by showing their weaknesses along with their strengths. The Mandalorian has faced more adversity in these two episodes than Rey has in two three hour movies. Definitely my favorite character of the Disney Star Wars era, and he has only said a few lines. Brilliant directing, brilliant script, brilliant execution of everything. I can't wait to see where the story goes.

John Favreau you have my gratitude and respect!

The Mandalorian - Now this is Star Wars
16 November 2019
This episode is even better than the first, I am so happy that Disney finally gave a Star Wars project to someone who actually loves Star Wars and knows the lore. Jon Favreau you have my gratitude and respect. He should direct the Old Republic trilogy. Heck, they should put him in charge of Star Wars, and fire Kathleen Kennedy for butchering the characters we all love.
