...but season two wasn't so good. It strayed from the storyline and started interjecting modern political themes into the plot, which greatly detracted from the series - especially if you were on the other side of the isle from the Hollywood way of thinking. It's a shame, as the series had a lot of potential. At times it was thrilling, it was mostly well- acted, and there were some good moments that really caught you attention, but overall I wouldn't recommend it. Religious people might also be offended by it as it doesn't portray Catholicism in the best of light, unlike it's treatment of Islam in the series.

If you enjoy an hour of screaming..
4 July 2023
If you enjoy an hour of watching people screaming at each other, you'll love this. In nearly every episode, no, make that every episode, the adults are always screaming at each other; the children are continually screaming at each other; the plot is childish and simplistic. Yes, it's watchable, but barely. Keep your hand on the volume and fast forward buttons and you can skip a lot of the nonsense.
Season 1 was the best, but it went downhill from there. By the time I got to season 3, I was able to shorten every episode from about an hour to only about 30 minutes of viewing time - and I didn't even miss a single thing.
The actors could be good, given better roles, Winona Ryder was a big disappointment, and became almost a comical character.

I Care a Lot

Had potential - but it sucked

Irritating. I could picture the evil female as Nancy Pelosi, both ruining the lives of innocent people to their benefit (without giving away any of the story). An irritating, irritating, irritating film. Don't water your time
Spider-Man: Far from Home

Too PC for me
11 December 2019
And too far fetched. Peter is the new voice of Tony Stark. Outer space monsters. MJ is a black girl. Peters high school class has burka clad moslems. Bring back the original Spiderman without all the other marvel super heros and PC undertones!

about 2 hours and 21 minutes too long

Nothing funny about it, unless you enjoy listening to a couple bickering for 2+ hours.
How did it ever make it to the big screen? One of the worst movies I've seen in ages. Funny would not be one of the words I'd use to describe it. Simple plot: argue, argue, argue, insult, argue. Boring.

Arrival
(II) (2016)
Starts off slow but well worth it

Difficult to say much without giving the plot away. About half way through I finally began to understand. It would be worth it to read an analysis of the film, and of the short story the film was based on, after you see the film.
Dear Jerry: Celebrating the Music of Jerry Garcia
(2016 Video)
Slick & Commercial...

...unlike a true Dead show. It definitely was made with the object to sell the CD instead of celebrating the music of Jerry.
Phil gives an outstanding opening combo. Jimmy Cliff nails it with The Harder They Come. Widespread Panic does a good job of capturing the vocal emotion Jerry used to put into Morning Dew when he practically cried the lyrics. Tennessee Jed is a natural for a country version and Eric Church did a good job at it. Jorma & Buddy Miller also deserve credit for good renditions.
Many of the acts I found to be middling at best. Nonetheless, it was hard to dislike anyone as I loved the songs so much.
Complaints. Songs for the most part all had fast tempos and could have been slowed down. There were few slow, drawn out, meandering songs like Jerry & the boys excelled at. It seemed strange watching 5 active guitars playing for many of the tracks. Though the bluegrass was good, it was hard to adjust from rock to bluegrass and back again. I'd have preferred an all bluegrass opening stretch, followed by all rock to the end. No jumping back and forth; a seamless transitions from song to song instead of sudden jolts.
It was cool seeing Phil's son on stage with him for the opening few songs. Why didn't Phil ever play with the rest of his former bandmates? It took me a minute to recognize the new look of Peter "Elmer Fudd" Frampton. Where did all his hair go? Why were there teleprompter screens at the artists feet with the song lyrics scrolling? Are they really that old?
I can't pass judgement on this last bit: From what I've read, the lineup was longer than the venue's time limit allowed and several top acts were scrubbed at the last minute. Shame, for I would have loved to see their renditions.
Overall, the show was good and worth watching. It needed two more hours, both to slow the songs down and to allow for the cut acts. I keep thinking of what it could have been, as the potential was enormous with such a large pool of talented performers.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Way Too Politically Correct
18 February 2019
Men kissing men, lesbians, bad hair dye jobs, bad haircuts, minority heroes and evil white men.
The show has no connection to the fabled TV series; it only steals the names. I was hoping for more, but the in your face political correctness really turned us off. Instead of being what the show potentially had promise for, it strove more for political statements than entertainment. It was a squandered opportunity.
Some episodes were just to kill time, with no purpose or enhancement to the plot at all, as if the writers had a contract to deliver a certain number of episodes but ran out of ideas so created boring filler to stretch things out.

Horrible left-wing drivel
20 October 2018
White guys bad, republicans bad, antifa good, leftists good, etc.
Basically, unwatchable senseless violence, zero plot (other than the above), foul language & overt anti-American political themes. In the bonus scenes, the director says he wanted to break with the past films in the series and make a political statement about politics today. I wish his disturbed vision and ideals were on the DVD cover so I could have passed this title up.

Horrible
25 May 2018
One of the worst films I"ve ever seen. Jerky, amateur cinematography made me nauseous, as did Blair Witch, only this was worse. Even fast forwarding the DVD didn't help. I can't stress how horrible this film is. It's not even enjoyably-bad, as some bad films are. it's migraine bad. A total waste of time.
After Earth

Horrible acting, bad plot
10 August 2013
The actor that plays the boy is simply horrible. Sometimes, even though he's speaking English, it sounds like a strange foreign language and is hard to understand. Acting ability is near zero and his constantly throwing teenage fits is absurd.
Will Smith's talents have gone down hill as well. He should stick with comedy. Many of the shots of him are just that: images of him in a chair with electronic gadgets flashing. The camera then zooms in on the gadgets for a few seconds, then back to him, again, no dialogue. It might as well be a mannequin.
A horrible film. Don't waste your time or money.

White House Down
(2013)
Dumb. Just plain dumb. Plot full of holes. Cringe worth

Warning: Spoilers
One of the worst films I've seen in ages. It's like those poorly made horror films where the bad guy gets knocked down; the good guy then turns his back on the bad guy, puts down his weapons and walks away, while us, the audience, watches the bad guy get back up and attack the good guy once again. Very painful to watch and I wish I walked out and never finished the film. A total waste of two hours.
Not only that, it's a piece of left wing propaganda, where corporate America is evil and the peace loving muslims, and an obama look alike are the good guys.
As if the army would watch the president being chased across the White House lawn, ten feet in front of them, and do nothing. Bad guys walking around around the white house, sitting on the roof, and no one shoots at them - but every time the bad guys shoot at the army, they decimate the troops. The army doesn't kill a single terrorist. Asinine. Don't watch it.
